Welcome to the world of Artainia. A land where man, elf, dwarf, and orc have lived in tentative peace for hundreds of years. United by common enemies, the beasts of the world, the wicked hearts who wish to steal the hard earned livlihoods of the innocent, but most of all The Pale, a seemingly endless tide of dead and demons called forth by the Necromancers who live in the shadows of Artainia. This is a world that wouldnt have survived this long without its heroes, bloodlines of warriors who have dedicated their lives and their families lives to fighting the forces of evil in this world. However something wicked is brewing, The Pale have bided their time waiting for the veteran heroes to die out, with their obsticales now removed they begin their plan to bring hell on earth. However opposition to them hasnt died, the children of these once great heroes have grown old enough to carry their parents weapons, wear their armor, and cast their magics. These new heroes stand against an ancient evil, underprepared, under trained, and unready, however they are willing to pay the price...

(hey guys this is a fantasy roleplay about heroes fighting dark forces. It seems pretty cliche but i assure you there is a hidden plot. Each character is exlected to fill the role of either a hero, a Pale Master, or any of the denizens of Artainia. There are undead, dragons, giants, and monsters out the yin yang. Very few people have the courage to face such odds and even fewer have the ability to survive such encounters. Keep in mind that your characters are supposed to start off a little weak, still more than a normal person but not as good as the heroes of old. We still need room to grow.

Name: Bryce Fletcher
Title: The Dragon Knight

Personality: As the heir to the Fletcher bloodline, Bryce is a laid back guy who likes making jokes and talking. He never really takes anything seriously, no matter how serious it gets, and how hopeless it is. Speaking of that, he can be quite stubborn, being compared to that of a dragon's. If he wants to do something, he does it, or passes out from exhaustion.
History: Born to the illustrious Fletcher bloodline, Bryce was of course next in line to inheirit the title of Dragon Knight, his blood allowing him to bond with a dragon through a ritual called the Bonding of Dragonblood. He chose a Golden Dragon, the rarest of the metallic dragons. That was a milestone, as the only one of his ancestors to bond with a Golden Dragon was Richard Fletcher, the first to bond with a dragon and fight against the Pale. He did all this mostly out of the fact it was tradition, but when he heard of the return of the Pale, he took up arms and went out to face them.
Magic: None naturally, but his bond with his dragon, Lockheed, has given him some dragon like qualities, like heightened senses and endurance. He has a telepathic bond with Lockheed, the two nearly inseperable. It has also given him the ability to generate fire and blast it from his hands, and he is completely immune to all fire, even magical and demonic fire.
Weapons: He uses a greatsword, since his increased strength allowing him to use it with ease.
Skills: Combat, jousting, dragon riding (Lockheed isn't big enough to ride, currently,) history
Connections: The Fletcher bloodline, Lockheed
Extra: His greatsword is called the Dragonslayer, since it was created to hunt dragons by his ancestors, but now it gives the user a better connection to their dragon, even giving them several powers as they grow stronger.

Personality: Balmond is a horrific creature, it holds no fear, nor mercy, and no remorse. A mirror image of the good man he was in life. He seems to now have an aversion to good, feelings of joy and love attract his wrath.
History: Once a great foe of the Pale and a True hero, Balmond was a shining example of the good within mankind. Yet eventually he aged, grew slower, and was stricken down by the pale. He now returns as a mighty being of evil, radiatiating wicked power and striking down all but the greatest champions of light.
Magic:
Immortality- Balmond has elegedly been striken down several times, even beheaded and burned. Yet he somehow always returns. Days, or sometimes even hours later. His immortality is rumored to have an otherworldly source.

Death Bolt- Balmond can generate a greenish electric like energy that litterally drains the life out of his targets, those with magic can stave off the lethal effects at the cost of alot of mana, those without it will find their life drained. The weak die instantly and grotesquely.

Inhuman attributes - balmond never sleeps, eats, or breaths. He posseses inhuman strength and doesnt seem to feel pain nor does he tire. Most magic fails against him, but holy magic is very effective. He is immune to poisons, toxins and venoms.
Weapons:
The Defiler- An indestructible axe once known as the Defender. The blade was tainted with its master, and now yeilds an infectious touch.

Scourge - A large hammer on his back, he did not have it in life and he has yet to ever draw it...

Skills:
Axe master- Balmond retains the skill he had as a hero. In addition to some things he learned beyond the grave.

Leader- Balmond leads armies of undead, and has even been seen commanding demons...none have been seen commanding him.

Terror- Balmond can inflict fear on nearly every living thing. This makes gathering information quite easy.

Connections:
Aliyah Calderan is his daughter, and the Pale are his allies.

Extra:
Always carries a blood red book with him...

Personality: Kind, yet serous. She likes being in control of the situation and enjoys taking care of other, she has little tolerance for those that act higher than others.
History: Aliyah's mother died giving birth to her, when Aliyah found this out she started to study healing magic so that no one would die again over something preventable. She always admired her father and some of her best memories are with him, when she discovered he was becoming corrupted she tried to save him, but it was no use. After that she began traveling, trying to find if it was reversible and healing everyone she could.

Healing magic is her specialty
Light Spear- summons a spear made of light
Barrier- forms a thin barrier to protect against a light magic or physical attack
Weapons: her magic, a small dagger, and her staff

He was given a mission to rescue the daughter of some high lordling that was taken by a large bandit group. Caldur simply walked into their hideout, fought for about half a day, caused about five explosions, collapsed a portion of the hideout, got a deep wound in his left shoulder, took an arrow in his left eye, was set on fire, and walked out with his target. The odds of him surviving were abysmal, practically nothing, but he walked out alive and well. He'd gotten the title "The Immortal" after that.

Personality: Edward is capable of switching from laughter to seriousness in a moments notice understanding that time and place must always be a factor in everything. While because of his family's intrigue he has an almost worrying skill at lying he never does sticking to his values and honesty. Whether this is because he truly is honest or just a rejection of his family is open to debate. He also has a dislike of authority any higher than a common guardsman believing anyone higher is more than likely out for themselves.

History: The son and heir of an extremely powerful and influential Elven noble house descended from the great hero Amos Far-Gazer, Edward's family is everything it's founder would detest, corrupt, ambitious, elitist and cruel. As soon as he was capable of understanding the world around him Edward rejected his family's ways and plans in a public display where he humiliated his father in front of a gathering of other nobles so badly that his father's rivals were said to have offered their daughters hand in marriage to him.

For most of his life he stayed with the workers and servants at his family's estate learning from them and getting an insight of the world outside his golden cage. His father eventually put a stop to this by bringing in tutors from the most prestigious academies and places of learning to occupy his time. This succeeded for a time and his intelligence quickly became evident when he was found disproving teachers assertions.

His true calling was only discovered late into his childhood, when his uncle a man accustomed to the road as a travelling mercenary came he put his nephews skills to the test in martial ability. While above average in swordsmanship he was no prodigy, when it came to archery however he quickly proved his brilliance. Any target presented to him he could hit no matter the distance, no one but Edward himself knew why this was until he revealed his power to the household. He had inherited something only his ancestor Amos had been known to have in the family, he could see miles into the distance with the same clarity as he could see his own hand.

Magic: The ability to see extremely far into the distance with clarity

Stormsong - The famed bow of Amos Far-Gazer said to have been created from the wood of a 1000 year old tree hit by lighting a hundred times that was burned down by the local village that thought it cursed them Every arrow is said to emit energy when fired from the bow..

Personality: When on the job, he's an assassin. He's not an honorable warrior, powerful mage, or charismatic leader. He'll fight tooth and nail with no sense of mercy, using practically every trick in the book, to kill his target. His technique is rough and unrefined, but he never plans on fighting for very long. Legendary battles that last days are just wives' tales to him. He's calm, calculating, ruthless and most of all cheap; he pawns off his skills like a little girl goes around selling matches, albeit more successful.

But that is on the job, off the job he is a completely different person. He has a cheerful disposition, polite manners, and honest lifestyle. Arthur tries to act like a gentleman off the battlefield, living by the motto of not bringing your work home. Any grudges formed on the field are ignored and vice versa. To him, the person working and the one dreaming to swim in cash are two completely different entities. But of course, when a business opportunity rise he'll pull out his other persona at any time.
History:

Magic: Teleportation- He is able to teleport himself anywhere within a 30 ft. radius but cannot move from one elevation to another.

Weapons: He has a wide assortment of generic weapons:

Long Sword

Debilitating Poisons

Skills:
Tenacity: Until he dies, Arthur refuses to give up on his goals.
Knowledge of Weapons: The young man can use most weapons at the most basic level.

Cooking: This skill may be the only one he actually excels in if he wasn't a hero he would probably be a chef.

Personality: Emeritus has a quiet calm about him, almost making him look aloof to people who first meet him. Despite that outer behavior he has some compassion for those worse off in life. He is also cautious in most regards, the kind of person that checks over his gear every day before setting out to do stuff.

History:
Emeritus comes from an Elven clan that lives in some of the more hospitable areas in the Everfrost, wandering between areas in order to not deplete too much of the flora and fauna at one time. His clan's claim to fame was the powerful hero and clan founder Ialdabode, who secured an alliance between his family and the Dragons that inhabited the frozen landscape. Since his descendants all shared some bit of his bravery, skill, or power they have all served high positions in the clan when they weren't leaders themselves.

Even when he was young Emeritus showed he had plenty of skill with survival related matters in the Everfrost. However, his parents were unaware of Emeritus' magical ice-based abilities until he tricked his younger brother into getting his tongue stuck on a pole when he was five. His antics with his powers didn't last very long as he had to spend much of his time helping with the hunting parties in the region, learning the finer points of staying alive.

When he became a young man Emeritus was both helping lead a hunting party and learning about how to help maintain relations with their Dragon allies. It was a slightly uneasy alliance at times, seeing as Dragons were nearly all-powerful while the elves were far less so. Despite knowing that the young elf was always sure to give them some respect with any of their dealings.

Two months ago life for the elven man took a strange turn. One of the elven diplomats came with a report that the Dragons never received their share of the prey the elves had hunted recently. Emeritus' younger brother was supposed to be in charge of delivering the tribute, and the fact that it was never received nor had the younger sibling been seen were two sources of concern for Emeritus. After talking to other members of the clan and leading scouting parties it was clear that he had disappeared at some point while they were in the southernmost part of the Everforst. After ensuring another batch of things were sent to the Dragons, Emeritus set to find his lost sibling.


Magic:
Cryokinesis- Emeritus can create, shape, and manipulate ice.
Tundra Hunter- Emeritus can move quickly and lightly in places like his home, making it difficult to track him in snow and/or icy areas.
Weapons:
Spear- Hunting spear that can be used on both animals and attackers.
Daggers- He has several daggers that are normally used for hunting purposes, but will be use them to defend himself in a pinch.
Skills: Emeritus is a skilled hunter and tracker, and know a lot of about survival as well.
Connections: His clan members and some of the Dragons of the Everfrost.
Extra: He has a sweet tooth, and especially likes chocolate.

Standing at 5'0" Aideen is the smallest, angriest little Highlander you've ever met. Auburn tresses flare around a pale face reaching down to her bosom, thick lashes framing almond eyes flecked with gold. A heart-shaped face of a darling angel, and the temper of a barbarian her willowy figure doesn't seem the most intimidating when she's the same size as a child. However, don't be fooled, for the arms which draw back the bowstring are sinewy and strong. If it comes to it, she's no stranger of an upper hook which has been known to knock grown men out.

Don't be fooled by her vicious demeanour, the girl is still a girl after all and has much to learn even now. It's not hard to make Aideen flustered, and will usually result in her stamping on feet or making a quick escape. But being as small as she is, it's easy to pick up the pocket-sized bow-woman and tuck her under an arm (although be ready for protest). Her entire life has been centred around men - which is a love-hate relationship. For as much as she can get weak at the knees when her heart runs away without her head, Aideen can be spiteful and ready to break a few fingers if they hurt her fragile emotional state.

The passion for her craft and weapon is evident, leaving the highlander no stranger to playful boasting and ready for battle at any given moment. In all her enthusiasm, sarcastic humour and memorable laughter - it's easy to forget the toll on soldiers. More than once she'll go out back, or off into the forest and simply cry. Her way of effectively dealing with things she's seen. Alas, to let someone see her in this vulnerable state is nigh impossible and sadness can quickly become rage.

She'll fight you to the death over pastries, break your arm over beer, and crush your nose during poker. All in all, the perfect woman if you're looking for a fight. After years of trying to keep up with her brothers, now it seems her brothers are trying to keep up with her instead. Furiously loyal to her friends, honest, and hardworking. It's not hard to see why her comrades stick around. Fighting to the death is of no qualms, it's her life devoted to the cause and teachings of her father which showed Aideen - it's not about you. It's about the ones back home.

Nobody fucks with a Highlander. And especially not short ones.

History:
Raised in the wilds, with the forests beneath her feet and the sky above her head, Highlanders are known for their affinity for nature. It's a way of life, a religion, and it's a home. Children from many a young age are taught to wield swords and bows, most importantly for protection and hunting. These are the types of bairns who are left out overnight to see whether they survive exposure. And Aideen? She was a ruddy-faced screamer who not only survived the night, but would continue to leap over anything thrown at her.

The clan she was part of, her father was a well-known fighter. Always off to tear the darkness a new one, surrounded by stories of Dragon Knights, valiant Princes who fought bloody battles for their people, and women who threw fire from their fingertips. To some, this was just a dream. To this little girl - A promise. She would visit those places with her father, and she would send them back to hell. Brought up among 5 brothers, her being the only girl, it was essential to prove yourself. Leaving her eldest sibling with a permanent scarring of her bite, and a few others with a mild concussion.

Taking after her mother, Aideen wasn't tall nor bulky like her father. She grew feminine, desirable to some. But all who knew the family would say she was about as desirable as a screaming banshee. Of course, it wasn't long before men began asking the family for her hand, resulting in trying to coax Aideen down from trees or waiting a month for her to return from sulking in the wilderness. Yet, the day her father perished, the Highlander's mother was at the end of her tether. She had to make the ultimate decision.

Stay or leave.

So off she went, down country roads, hopping between gypsy caravans and mercenary bands. Holding her bow close, and her friends closer. Eventually, throughout her bloody battles and calculating escapes - she gained the unassuming title of 'The Little Highlander'. Aideen would've preferred something far more foreboding, however, she'll damn well cut people down to her height. Maybe Little isn't so much of an insult.

Magic:
- Very basic Druidry magic, making plants grow with a touch of her hand and purifying water by a brush.
- Bullseye; this spell is merely a magic GPS system. It'll make the arrow bend around corners (although cannot go through direct obstacles) and reach it's victim no matter the difficulty.

Weapons:
- Bow: Carved with her initials and a crossed out engraving of a cuss thanks to her brothers (it seemed hilarious at the time).
- Dagger: Gifted from her father to aid her fighting spirit.

Skills:
- Survival: Aideen can survive out in the wilderness from days to months. These skills were passed down from generations of Highlanders.
- Aim: She can hit anything, with bow or without a bow, it's legendary enough that you don't want her to hold anything which can quickly become a projectile.
- First Aid: She knows the basics of medicine and medicinal flowers/plants, but broken limbs are beyond her.
- Hunters Senses: Tracking, camouflage, and being quick and quiet are her specialities. Again from her upbringing.
- Bending her thumb back to her wrist.

Tommy Cappuccino is the youngest member of the legendary cappuccino family. Although you wouldn't be able to tell that by just looking at him. For an elf (well, half elf, if you want to get technical) he is pretty short, standing at 5'5". He has short, curly, dirty blonde hair, and a small, pale face.He has blue eyes on the darker side, always looking down, and thin lips that never smile. His ears look almost too large for his head, although the typical point that most elves and even half-elves have is downplayed to the point of almost not existing.He has a slender, almost feminine form, and long, limbs, Most of his body is leg and arm.

Personality: One word that basically sums up Tommy's personality is naive. That is why he goes by Tommy instead of switching to Tom. He had lived cooped up in his estate for the majority of his short life, and his knowledge of the outside world is very limited. They only had one servant who was unable to bring any news of the outside world because she lived with them. Although he was taught enough to survive in the world, it is another thing to actually apply those lessons. Another aspect of his personality is his self-depreciation. All his life he had been told he was nothing special and even a waste of space. All these insults managed to convince him that he was worthless. But there is something else in him that ignores these taunts. Why else would he leave the safety of his own home when he could just stay out of the way? The answer that first comes to mind is that he, in actuality, does not consider himself a waste of space, and in fact, is actually filled with courage and bravery. But it may be because he is afraid of the life he may have lead if he had never left. Any life would probably be better than that one.

History: Tommy was born into a family of heroes. His mother and father fought off the pale when they were young, his grandfather was a cunning and powerful general, and his great-grandfather was a farmer. Being the eighth and youngest child of his parents, he was never able to live up to the high standards set by his older siblings. While they all had great potential in sword fighting and magic and everything else a good hero needs, Tommy was never good at any of that. His parents were disappointed in him, but they never had the time to show that disappointment, as they were busy making a living and training his older siblings. He was pushed to the side and ignored. But one day his parents left the estate on a small quest for some pocket change and never returned. His family learned a few days later that their father died on the quest due to unknown reasons, but the corpse of the mother could not be found. The household, now devoid of leaders, slowly fell apart, with the children leaving for one reason or another. One or two of his siblings left to find their mother or avenge their father, but most of them left because they now had no one to provide for them and had to find jobs. That left Tommy all alone in a really big house. Eventually, he decided it was time for him to leave to, so he gathered a few weapons and set out into the world.

Magic: Tommy was trained in a variety of magical spells and what-not, but there are only a few cantrips that he really excels in.
Firebolt, which shoots a small dart of fire out of the caster's fingers. It does not do very much damage, but even the smallest spark can light the town on fire if the conditions are right.
Cast Light, which creates an orb of light that hovers around the caster's head as long as he wills it to. The light provided from this orb is pretty good.
Cure wounds, the ability to heal any wound. Although Tommy has only been able to heal minor scrapes and bruises.
Mage Hand, which allows the caster to create and manipulate a big blue magic hand. Tommy has been practicing a lot with this spell, being able to almost perfectly reproduce the effects of a normal hand and being able to cast it up to thirty feet away.

Weapons: Tommy has a sword. A rapier, to be more precise. He is decent with it, like most people who spent a good chunk of their time practicing rapier fighting tend to be. He also has a crossbow. His aim is not bad, but not good either.

Skills: Tommy has been trained in all the skills necessary to live life. He can read a map, he can make lunch, he can juggle, he can pay his taxes, he can sing, and he can forge handwriting.

Connections: Although Tommy himself has never spoken to anyone. the Cappuccino name is well known throughout the country like most rich families tend to be.

Personality: Gerald is a man whose very presence radiates authority. His eyes seem to burn with an unquenchable fire and his voice booms like a king As well it should. He holds no fear of death and believes the only thing that is impossible is the existence of the impossible. (basically all things are possible.)
History: Gerald was born in the large capitol city of Goldenview in the dead center of the peace ring. His father was a knight of the guard, and his father before him. So it stood to reason that gerald would follow in their footsteps. He was given a spear and a shield at the young age of 16 and stationed at the western gate. In his many years guarding the city, and its nearby towns he has seen many different faces of battle, from rough bandits, to undead hordes, even wandering ogres and golems. His expirence and courage kept not only him but his allies alive in most of the conflicts.
Magic: None, Gerald is not from one of the Bloodlines and is incapable of magic.
Weapons:
Spear- a common spear he always has at least one.
Tyr- the greatsword crafted for his great grandfather, its edge is still sharp, and its blade polished. It has a gold hilt and pommel
Fenrir- the blade of his grandfather, a slightly light blade than tyr but with sharp edges and and a reinforced tip for puncturing armor. It has a single gold ring around its pommel.
Shugoth- The blade of his father, a short sword with an ornate design and a heavy blade allowing it to strike with great force. It sits on his left hip.
Glaidus- His own personal sword crafted to his specifications, it has a wide blade and is very sturdy with the length of a long sword. While heavy it is a fine blade, and his most commonly used one.
Skills:
Tactics- Gerald has lead men on countless missions and usually organizes strategies that keep his troops numbers high.

Leadership- Gerald seems to be a good man, with a stern demeanour. He rarely makes selfish decisions and is generally good at giving orders.

Combat mastery- While he is a master of no one weapon, he is very skilled in all. His fierce fighting style overcoming most enemies defenses with the strength and speed of each attack in his combo.

Strength & Stamina- while not magic in nature many gold guards have spread rumors of their commanders immense strength and stamina. In reality he is very fit amd strong but not inhumanly so, however the rumors make him seem like a supernatural force.

Inner calm outer strength- Gerald is calm and rational keeping his emotions in check while using them as fuel for his ambitions.
Connections:
The Golden guard has over 20,000 men in it, and he commands them all. In addition he has ties with the Artasian armies. Though he rarely calls upon her aide, his sister is the Current queen of Goldenview and can usually get him out of any trouble he finds himself in.
Extra: He is Not a Bloodline Hero, but is a Champion of the people nonetheless.
