Vampiric Terminology
Sire: The vampire who is responsible for giving Death's Kiss to turn a human into a vampire.
Childe: The vampire who has been given Death's Kiss by another, turning them from human into a vampire.
Death's Kiss: The name for the process of siring another into the vampiric way of life.
Kith: When a vampire says it, they speak of other vampires and vampire society as a whole.
Cattle: Often the word used when speaking of humans.
Pure-Blood: A vampire who was never sired, rather they have birthed a vampire with two vampire parents. They are a rarity, but no so much so they are unheard of.
Dhampir/Hollow-Blood: A very rare species that is a mix of vampire and human. Few are known.
Fledgling: A vampire who has recently been turned. Usually, vampires in their first few weeks of vampirism are referred to as such because of their ignorance towards the ways of the night creatures and usual need of a sire to guide them. They are usually weaker, as their vampiric abilities have not fully developed yet, meaning they are not as strong, fast, or have as good of senses as fully-fledged vampires.
Bantling: A Vampire who is past the Fledgling stage having survived in the Vampiric world for a few weeks and proved they may make it in society. They are not well respected yet, but they are seen to have earned their place.
Pundit: An older Vampire who has been alive for centuries, an older one who Fledglings and Bantlings are supposed to respect and follow.
Ancient: A Vampire over a thousand (or more) years old, having survived long in the world of vampires. Highly regarded and respected.
Butterfly: A vampire that mingles with humans. There are usually worse names for those as vampires look down upon them.
Blood Bond: This is sometimes used as a term for marriage but more often than not it's about a blood exchange ceremony between two vampires that makes them connected for life. Each of them senses the other's pain (though it would be muted) and can sense the other's emotions.
Cattle-kin: For vampires that elect to only feast upon animal blood rather than human blood (this is heavily looked down on in most vampiric societies).
