Realistic or Modern Beware the Savages [IC]

Raku

Four Thousand Club

It all went to hell last night. The city was already a shitshow, but this made it worse. The military had been developing a biological weapon. This weapon would cause the infected to absolutely lose it. They'd go savage, attacking any healthy animal they saw, and in turn would end up infecting them. The military was going to use it on enemy nations if foreign affairs started to get out of hand, but someone didn't get the memo. Information was released about this 'virus' a few weeks ago, and since then riots and protests have broke out across the whole city. Last night, one broke out outside one of the labs that was developing this virus. Rioters began to attack one of the trucks that was transporting samples of the virus. An accident or a spill happened, because out of those trucks came a few scientists that attacked and infected bystanders. That's how it started. Now that it's the morning after, survivors have to decide on what to do. Do they stay where they hid out for the night, or do they move on?

The group spent the night in the back room of a small grocery store. They managed to barricade the front doors and kept the infected and any late night looters out. It was completely up to them whether they introduced themselves, but it was understandable if they didn't. It was late and it wasn't easy barricading those doors. Now that morning has come, they need to decide what they should do. Hold out in the store or leave and look for sanctuary elsewhere?

Adrian "Addy" Fulmer
Adrian woke inside of a closet-looking room. He couldn't see well the night before due to the tear gas, so he didn't see that the door read "Janitor's Closet" when he ran in last night. He rubbed his eyes. They were still stinging a little from the tear gas. The closet was dark, he could barely see. He stood up and searched blindly for a light switch. Eventually, his flailing paws found what he was looking for. He reached a little higher and hopped, flicking the switch up and lighting the room. Now being able to study his environment, he realized it was a janitor's closet. The mops, brooms, dustpans, and other cleaning supplies gave it away. Adrian groaned quietly as he stretched. Sleeping on a hard floor and using your school backpack as a pillow wasn't exactly comfortable. It was then that all the memories of last night came flooding back. He suddenly remembered everything from when his parents picked him up from school in a frenzy to when he ran inside this very closet, tears flowing from his eyes as the tear gas irritated them. He also remember what he was thinking when he ran in the closet. Maybe his mother and father were just outside the door, waiting for him to come out. He could only hope so, but there was that uncertainty gathering in the back of his mind.

After grabbing his little arctic fox plushy out, hugging it tightly, he left the closet. Adrian wasn't met with the sight he was hoping for, his mother and father standing there with open arms. Instead, he was met with an empty grocery store lit by the early morning sun. He took a few steps away from the door to the closet and called quietly, "Mama? Papa?".

**The night had been long, terror having gripped all who witnessed the apocalyptic situation, but this didn't scare the fox named Kiagran, oh no, what scared her were the thoughts, much darker than anything this apocalypse could throw at her. She wore a bardic tunic and tight like pants, a handmade cap on her head, she looked like she had stepped out of a tavern in the early renaissance, if it wasn't for her completely modern bag full of her items, as she took her watch, she would be fiddling with a guitar like instrument, humming lightly as she checked the tuning**

Jask yawned and stretched, checking the time and shaking his head. "What a night." The events had happened so quickly and so chaoticly it was like being back in the Corp on a mission with bad Intel and worse planning. He had been on his way to meet his future Primary, other individuals would call them clients, but really they were his Primary Concern, or sometimes Packages if they were barely worth the effort. But the riot, over zealous police and military, and the teargas happened and he never made it to the meet. Instead he found himself in a grocery store with a Renaissance bard, a aggressive looking wolf chick and a leopard girl, and a pup?

Blinking several times he looked around at the dimly lit, but brightening store. "At least there will be coffee." He muttered to himself.

"Mama? Papa?"

Yep that was the pup. Turning towards the small voice the well dressed otter buttoned one button on his coat and made sure he looked calm and friendly. "Hey buddy you ok?" Making sure he stopped a few feet away from the pup he smiled crouched a little bit to make himself eye level and as non threatening as possible.

Emily

She wakes up way before her friend but doesn't waste any time, she wakes her up immediately, before stretching and getting up herself. She was livid and wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. She doesn't pay any attention to the people around her, she only cared about herself and Belle. "Get up, we have to go," she says hastily to her friend. She was a bit irritated, knowing that they could have been safe and sound at her parent's bunker right now if Belle didn't insist on coming here first. However, that was still Emily's main adjective, get out of here as soon as possible and get to her parent's bunker. While her friend was wasting time getting up, Emily starts to move the stuff away from the door, their make-shift barrier they made last night.

Belle

Belle grunts when Emily wakes her up but she was going to take her time doing so, she didn't feel the need to rush. She had hope and was feeling quite optimistic about the situation. It was only a small outbreak, surely the government was able to contain it by now? This was a situation that could easily be fixed, it hadn't been that long, and it could be contained. Within a few days this would be over, they would only have to survive until then. That was her thoughts anyway. She finally gets up and stretches before looking around the room to see who was in here with her. There were two foxes, one that was really young, a well-dressed otter, and a sleeping coyote with them. She was too tired to talk to them, but maybe she could talk to them today while they figure out this mess.

Adrian "Addy" Fulmer
Adrian was keeping his head on a swivel, his ears rotating towards every little noise. He was scared. He didn't know where he was, he didn't know where his parents were, and it didn't help that the apocalypse was right outside the door. His ears perked at the sound of a stringed instrument along with some humming somewhere in the store. Adrian also heard some talking. He stiffened up at the noises. It surprised him, but it also scared him. It let him know that he wasn't alone. He made sure to step cautiously as he continued to wander the store.

It wasn't long before a voice came to greet him. It was an otter, well dressed and towering over Adrian. He had crouched down a few feet away from him and asked if Adrian was okay in a calm voice. Despite his attempts to make himself non-threatening, Adrian was still frightened and nervous. He squeezed the little plushy even tighter. "I-I don't know where my m-mom and dad are" he said very nervously. Adrian's eyes also caught another body move. It was a wolf, and she was moving to the entrance. Her movements were followed by the sounds of objects moving. What was she doing?

Desmond Clarke
Desmond groaned as he awoke to the sound of talking and a guitar being tuned. He opened his eyes to see where he was. It was a grocery store, the one he had ran into with a group of others, the same people that are around him. A fox looking like some Renaissance reenactor, a tall, well dressed otter, a wolf who wasn't too enthusiastic about being there as she spoke to her leopard friend. Desmond also noticed a young arctic fox kit. The otter was quick to help the poor fellow. It made Desmond feel bad seeing such a young soul stuck in this. It made him feel guilty too, because he somewhat felt he was to blame for this. But he knew he wasn't to blame, he couldn't have been. It was those damn rioters that attacked the trucks, not him. Things would have been just fine if it wasn't for them.

Standing up and rolling his neck a bit, Desmond looked around. Inside the store it looked like nothing had happened. He was sure the same couldn't be said for the outside. His attention then turned to the wolf again as she began moving objects away from their makeshift barricade. What the hell is she doing!? That barricade is what is keeping them safe, so why is she breaking it down!? He was quick to confront her about it. He ran to the door quickly, stopping a few feet away from her. "What the fuck are you doing? You know this is what is keeping us safe, right?" he said coldly through the medical mask. There was a slight raspiness to his voice, indicating he was a little older, but not too old.

The various background noises were just that, background. None of it required his attention, her vaguely remembered being a scared pup at one point. Maybe not as young as this guy, Jask had trouble remembering the early part of his life, but he could relate to being alone and scared. So the otter smiled and nodded slowly at the Arctic fox. "That can be scary, but I'm sure they're ok. My name is Jask." A bright smile filled his face, waggling his whiskers a bit. "What's your name buddy?"

He could hear the arguing begin near the barricade. 'Great. One is freaking out to leave, another is freaking out to stay.' But that was something to deal with in a little bit.

Adrian "Addy" Fulmer
Adrian nodded in agreement. It was scary to be without his parents. The otter then tried to assure Adrian that his parents were okay and introduced himself as Jask. Adrian so hoped they were okay, but why wouldn't they? Although they were hit with the tear gas just like him, he was sure they got out of the crowd and found the police. In that moment he had realized how relatively empty the store was. Did something else happen last night after Adrian shut himself in the closet?

After Jask spoke, his smile made Adrian feel a bit more easy. His smile was welcoming. He did feel a little less nervous now that the otter wasn't entirely a stranger anymore. "I-I'm Adrian. My mom and dad call me Addy" he said softly. He then heard someone say something at the front of the store. The voice mentioned something about something keeping them safe. Safe from what? What happened last night? What was out there?

*As the woman attempted to remove the blockage from the door, Kia stood up and moved to block the way, holding up her hands in a friendly calm motion*
"I'm sorry, but we need to keep this block up, atleast for the moment, everyone out there don't look too friendly no? infact, it looks a little...gorey, you might not survive if you dont have a weapon"
*she kept her tone calm, trying to talk sense to the female wolf*

Jask continued to smile in the same friendly manner as the young kit spoke. 'Poor guy.' He held out his paw, offering to shake Adrian's and nodded. "Adrian is a cool name, can I call you Addy as well?" The otter looked at the plush held tight in Adrian's arms, and indicated at it with his head. "Does your little friend have a name? And are you both hungry?"

The discussion at the door was still going on and could grow out of hand quickly with how short tempers were right now. 'As long as the don't start fighting we have a chance.'

Emily
Emily stops removing the barricade for the moment, but already half of it was removed, and she looks at the coyote that was protesting her from moving the barricade. She rolls her eyes. What a dunce, she thought to herself, knowing that getting to her parent's bunker was the safest place to be. Emily notices the medical mask around him and wondered why he had one. Before she could respond, a female fox walks up to her and asks about a weapon. How dumb did this fox think she was? Emily reaches into her bag and pulls out her gun, before putting it straight at the fox. "I think I'm good here," she growls, her ears instinctively flattening as she says this. "Maybe it will protect everyone else, but it's not protecting me," she snaps at the other one that tried to block her. Emily doesn't move but doesn't lower her gun off of the fox either.

Belle
Suddenly she looks up as there was more movement about. The coyote was awake and heading for her friend. The other fox joined them as well and she gets an awful pit in her stomach. Belle approaches the scene slowly but could tell that Emily was becoming aggressive. Her eyes go wide and she rushes to her friend's side and grabs her arm, forcing Emily to lower the gun. "Emily, come on, there's no need to get out your gun," she says calmly. Everyone was overreacting in this situation. Maybe the coyote was right, maybe it was best to stay here. After all Belle still believed that this would be over in a few days. She felt bad, but they were in a grocery store, they could eat food here. She knew it was wrong and it was stealing, but once it was all over, she could pay back the store's owner. Or maybe the government would. Either way, it would get resolved. "Why don't we all calm down and talk with the rest of the group?" She motions her head slightly to the otter and the small kid fox. It was probably best to make group decisions.

Adrian "Addy" Fulmer
A slight smile grew on Adrian's face as Jask complemented his name and asked if he could also call him Addy. He had also held out his paw. Adrian was inclined to believe it was to shake his own. He had seen his father do it many times to his friends. Adrian personally had never shook anyone's paw. He reached out with his small paw and tried to grip Jask's. He could barely get his fingers around his paw, but he did. After shaking paws, Jask had asked if his plushy had a name and if they were hungry. There was a funny story behind Adrian's plushy's name. His mother had got it for him when he was only 2. At first he thought it was a little brother, and for the longest time, that's how he treated it. When his mother brought it home, Adrian had asked for it's name. His mother told him that she hadn't named it yet and that Adrian could. He named it Bubba. It took about 6 months for him to realize it was just a toy, but when he did he still treated it like a sibling.

"His name is Bubba." he said to answer Jask's first question. A slight grumble came from Adrian's stomach as he remembered that he hadn't ate anything for almost 24 hours. The last thing he could remember eating was breakfast yesterday. His parents couldn't afford the school lunches, so he usually just ate breakfast before school and he had a snack during the after school program. His parents would then pick him up and they'd eat dinner. But his parents picked him up a little earlier than normal in attempts to get home before the riots. He was used to going extended periods without food, but not this long. "Yeah. I-I haven't eaten anything in a while" he told Jask. He could her more arguing at the front followed by a growl, and later on, the mention of a gun. It was making him a little nervous. He hoped there wouldn't be a fight, and to top it off, he was terrified of guns.

Desmond Clarke
Thankfully, the bard-looking fox had come to help. She had tried to talk some sense into the wolf, trying to warn her about what was out there. What she said got more of a reaction out of the wolf than what he had. She merely rolled her eyes at Desmond. The wolf's reaction however wasn't an expected one. At the mention of a weapon she had reached into her bag and pulled out a handgun, pointing it straight at the fox. She then snapped at Desmond, keeping the gun pointed at the fox. Instinctively, Desmond reached for his revolver in the holster he bought for it. Before he could draw it though, the wolf's friend showed up to diffuse the situation. The leopard suggested that everyone calm down and consult the rest of the group on the matter. Desmond thought everyone was already there, but then he remembered about the otter and small kit. "Right, calming down is the best we can do before we become a greater threat to each other than whats outside that door." he said agreeing with the leopard. He then looked over his shoulder in the direction of the otter and kit. "Hey! You two mind hurrying it up back there?" he called to them.

*Kiagran stood her ground, not even flinching as the gun was aimed at her face, calmly, she would pull out her own gun, but didnt point it anywhere but at the floor, her legs spread slightly to keep her balance, next thing she knew the gun was pointed away forcefully by Belle, she nodded her head in silent thanks, but kept her position*
"and you have enough ammo on you to keep you safe for more than an hour? you have enough guts to mercilessly kill people who are being affected by a chemical? you have enough guts to kill someone just trying to keep them out so noone else gets infected as well? we need a game plan, and running out onto the street, no matter what, will get you killed, and even if you can do all of that...think about your friend"
*her eyes flit about for a second, checking for a good spot to move to that would put her out of the line of the gun if it was raised again and draw it away from the others just incase and she kept her own voice calm and level*

The tiny paw trying to grasp his made the otter chuckle a little and smile more, despite the growing tension and argument behind. "Nice to meet you Addy and Bubba. Tell ya what, you pick anything you want from the store and it's yours." He gave a big wink and smile. "If anyone asks tell'em I said you could."

From behind the slightly muffled voice of the coyote called out. "Hey! You two mind hurrying it up back there?"

Jask looked over his shoulder and sighed. "So much for a slow morning and a hot cup of coffee." Looking back to the Addy he shrugged. "Seems like we're wanted up front. Why don't you and Bubba get something to eat and I'll see what grumpy pants wants." The otter kept his smile on as he stood up and unbuttoned the suit coat which severed several purposes; it would make it easier to draw his pistol if he needed to use it. It also gave him more freedom of movement if things got physical. And it gave the appearance of being calm and relaxed. "On the way."

Adrian "Addy" Fulmer
Adrian's smile grew wider at what Jask said. "Really!? Anything?" he thought excitedly. Being as young as he was, his mind immediately went to candy and sweets, like any young one's would. But another thought popped in his mind. Wouldn't it be stealing? Jask had said that if anyone asks just say that he sent him, but Adrian didn't really think anyone would ask. There wasn't anyone else in the store except for those up front, who he wanted to keep distance from. They had guns, and Adrian was deathly afraid of guns after what had happened a couple years ago. Before he could go looking for food however, a voice called out to them from out front. Jask said something about a slow morning and coffee before looking back to Adrian, who's smile seemed to shrink a little at the call. He thought it meant he would be able to get something to eat. But Jask had told him and Bubba to go get something while he went to see what "grumpy pants" wanted. He smile grew again and he gave a perky, "Okay!", before walking down the aisle.

Emily
The fox was really starting to get underneath her skin, and she could say yes to every single question. She looks over at Belle and swallows. Belle didn't know how to do anything of this stuff. No matter how hard Emily tried to convince her, Belle never learned anything past the basics of her survival lessons. Of course, Belle needed more training, she wasn't ready for this. That's why she let Belle put her gun down and Emily slowly puts it away. Belle was a liability, and her training told her to ditch Belle. She was going to slow Emily down a lot. In fact, she had the best chance of survival without any of them. Emily sits on top of the furniture that was moved and looks around the group. The otter coming over, the kit running off. The kit was another problem, he was the weakest one here, it was best to leave him behind. However Emily keeps quiet, knowing that the rest of the group wouldn't like that. So she would give Belle a chance to talk to them, but she wasn't willing to wait long.

Belle
She smiles when the coyote called out to the otter and was glad the otter was distracting the kit, it wasn't good for him to be with them while they talked. She wasn't sure what was being said, but she waits for the otter to come closer in hear shot. "I'm Belle," she introduces herself to the small group. "This is my friend, Emily. I know she's a bit unorthodox but she knows what she is doing," she explains to the group calmly while defending her friend. Though she felt like this situation would be over in a few days, Emily was prepared and trained for emergency situations. If it was only going to be a few days, her bunker would be pretty safe to hide out until this blew over. She felt however the best way to gain the rest of the group's trust was to introduce herself and Emily. She was trying to ease the tense situation that Emily created by pulling out her gun. And if they were going to work together, it should start on a good, friendly note.

Desmond Clarke
Desmond listened to the fox's further ramblings, questioning the wolf's motives and whether she could take another's life. He honestly wished the fox would just shut up, but she did say something that was in line with what Desmond had to say. She said they needed a plan, because just charging into the street with guns blazing would be suicide. He knew how these things reacted to noise. They'd flock to it like moths to a light. With the conflict seemingly resolved, Desmond let his revolver slide back into the holster. Soon enough, the otter showed up, but the kit wasn't with him. Probably told the little one to hide in case this got serious. Desmond personally didn't think it would be a good idea to bring the kit with them. He'd just be a burden and a weight on the group. But it wouldn't have been morally right to just leave the little guy here. The leopard introduced herself and her friend as Belle and Emily, respectively of course. She gave some sort of explanation for Emily's reaction, within it saying she "knew what she was doing". It made Desmond internally chuckle. "Right, cause pointing guns at animals trying to put some reason into your head is 'knowing what you're doing'." he thought. As much as he wanted to voice that thought, he held back and just nodded to Belle. Desmond looked over his shoulder again to make sure the otter was in earshot before speaking. "The fox is right, we need a plan. You may have an end goal, but going out there without thinking of anything in the short term is suicide." he told them. He chose not to give his name because he feared they'd kill him for 'causing' this. He just needed to get out of that door so he could get away before they could find out. Besides, he needed to get back to his lab for something very important.

As Jask joined the small group he heard Belle introduce herself and her friend, Emily, who seemed to still be very on edge and ready to lash out. 'Probably scared and wants to runaway.' Belle seemed a bit more calm, though not in a I've got this figured it sort of way. 'She wants to believe we're all ok.' The fox, despite her garb, seemed to be a sensible creature. 'Looks like she could handle herself.' Now the coyote with the medical mask. Something about his voice and manner of speech stuck on his mind, like he was familiar somehow. He appeared very calm in a detached way. 'He wants a plan, but why? And do I know you?'

These thoughts flicked through his mind as he smiled and looked around at each of them. "Nice to meet you Belle, I'm Jask." He held out his paw in a polite manner, if she took it she would feel a strong and firm grip, but not one that was trying to crush hers or establish dominance. "The tweed wolf is right. We need a plan that gets us all where we want to be, safely."

Kiagran sighed in relief, putting her gun away when the one Emily had pointed at her, slow and deliberate, she nodded to Jask as he joined and everyone introduced themselves, all except for the coyote "well then, nice to meet you Jask, Bella and Emily, I'm Kiagran Fletcher, you can call me Kia if if it's easier to remember" she turned towards the coyote and nodded to him to indicate it's his turn to introduce himself before sitting back on the chair she had claimed earlier and checking over her supplies, her ears swiveled over towards them, indicating she is listening and paying attention.

Emily
Now that Belle was taking the lead, she began to look around, and scrutinized each individual. The fox kit hasn't come back and she was sort of hoping that the kit would never come back. She wouldn't want to be the voice of reason, especially since she knew the others had guns as well and possibly other weapons. Emily was calming down as well. None of them really held her interest besides the coyote. She stared at him, why did he have a face mask? Was he possibly infected and not telling them? As well as, the coyote seemed familiar somehow. Surely she never met him, she might not pay attention to people she met in the street, but she knew well enough who were strangers to her and who wasn't. Was he someone famous? Belle had no reaction to him and she would have freaked out if she knew he was famous, since she was into actors and whatnot. Perhaps he was on the news, that's the only thing Emily really watched. She constantly watched the news and documentaries, anything that was educational, really. Nothing really came to mind so for now Emily would just watch him more carefully until her suspicions were proven false.

Belle
She smiles a bit more when Jask introduces himself and she shakes his hand, her grip not as strong as his, but she didn't mind it. She was pretty relaxed and loose. She was glad that Kia also introduced herself and she turns her head back to the coyote. It seemed like her and Kia were also waited expectantly for him to introduce himself. But after a few moments, nothing had happened. It felt awkward not knowing his name, but she wasn't going to press on it. After all, it wasn't like they were all friends here, she was just lucky to have Emily here. Belle takes a few steps back, to be in the center of the group so that she could talk to all of them. "Alright, who has an idea first? I do feel like it is important to act fast in this situation so we shouldn't take too long deliberating." She asks the group, wanting to hear their opinions first before giving her own. She realized that for now she was presuming a leadership role, for now at least. She didn't mind being the leader, unless someone else wanted to stand up first. However, she was good at talking to others and knew it would make everyone felt better if they all agreed on a plan even if Belle didn't agree with them herself.

Desmond Clarke
With everyone introducing themselves and pitching in their thoughts, Desmond was glad that no one had directly asked for his name. He did noticed the fox's nod, noting that it was his turn. In fact, she wasn't the only one looking to him. The otter had looked to him, not making any suggestive motion, but just watching him. His stare wasn't too bothersome, as he didn't say anything in regards to Desmond's identity. Who's stare was really bothering him was the wolf's, Emily. Her's was a bit more intensive. He could tell she was studying him from the corner of his eye. Her stare was unwavering. He could tell that she knew who he was, but she just couldn't put a name on it nor could she confirm her suspicions. Desmond needed to move fast. It probably would be best for his health if they didn't know who he was.

The otter's words made him let out a quick, low growl in his direction. "Coyote will do" he thought. Tweed wolf, pah, just the sound of it was derogatory to Desmond. But, he didn't want to raise tension anymore, so once more, he silenced his remark. After an awkward silence, Belle decided to speak up and asked who wanted to propose their idea first. Desmond was quick to step up to the plate. He took a few steps so he was in the center of the group. "Indeed. Time is a limited resource at the moment, so let's make this quick. First and foremost, we need to think of the short term. Whether any of us decide to go anywhere or not, supplies are a necessity. This store has all we need luckily, except for some key things. But those key things can wait till a later time. I suggest that we, or whoever plans on splitting off," he said before pausing to glance at Emily and then continuing ", scour the store for food items with high protein content. Those will be the most filling and will last longer." he finished. Looking from person to person, waiting for their input.

Adrian "Addy" Fulmer
Adrian had been looking for something to eat as the others spoke at the front. For the most part, it was just them introducing themselves. He heard Belle, Emily, Kiagran, and Jask. There was one missing though. He didn't hear grumpy pants' name. Why wasn't he introducing himself? At the moment, Adrian focused on getting something to eat. After searching for a few minutes, he found a bag of meat snacks that his dad brought home from work sometimes and let Adrian have some. He thought they tasted good. He grabbed those off the shelf and opened the bag and ate one. Yep, these were what he wanted. He returned up to the front where everyone was and walked up beside Jask. At the moment Jask was the only one Adrian felt comfortable around. He was the one who came out to greet him and talk to him. He even said that Adrian could have anything in the store, which that he was extra thankful for. "I found what I want." he told Jask quietly.

Jask nodded slowly as the rest of the group seemed to relax a little and for the most part introduce themselves. 'Not the best start, but it could be worse.'

As each of the group spoke or gave some sort of input, he took a second look over each of them. For the most part it seemed like his initial assessment was holding true, though Belle taking the lead was unexpected. But then again he had known plenty of other creatures that were quiet and unassuming in normal situations, but could step up when they were needed. Emily, once her friend was pointed out, stepped back and angrily stewed, sizing everyone up in a "can I leave you or use you" way. Which made sense. Kia still held true to the ready for things to go pear shaped and roll with it. And the festies Jask had known that for right in, he probably get along with her at a fest. 'She probably plays D&D.'

But now the coyote. Something about him was still nagging at the side of the otters thoughts. Like he'd seen him somewhere. 'Were you a client? Did I help work on a protection detail for you?' The low growl gave Jask a small bit of enjoyment. 'So you do not like being picked on. You think you are above that, but not beyond it.'

When he spoke at length it clicked in. 'Dr. Desmond Clarke. The bio genius. Now I know why you're hiding.' His look did not linger any longer on the coyote, if he did not want to be identified, Jask was not going to draw attention to him. 'Might get paid after all, the Company has got to have some sort of contract with the DoD for protecting their personnel.'

It was then that Addy came back with a bag of jerky. "I found what I want." Quietly came from beside him. The otter smiled and looked down at his new little friend. "That's good. That's a good choice. I like those too." Keeping his voice quiet and friendly as he spoke. "Would you like to introduce yourself?" Looking at the group, seeing if they were paying attention. "Or do you want me to?"

"hmm...I think our best bet is to get onto the roof and survey the situation, we are pretty close to a building....maybe we can make a bridge and escape that way, that or through the back...but there might be an alarm on the back door...which would attract the horde, going out the front is assured death...and we need to find something for the kid to be able to defend himself with" *She smiled at the child who approached, keeping her tone light and friendly as she gave Adrien a small wave of acknowledgment*

Emily
She was done listening to the group talk and she gets off the furniture she was sitting on. The group had made some valid points but she still wasn't going to work with them. When the kit came back to talk to Jask, she was hoping that he would be distracted enough, perhaps Jask could send him away to find some other food. That is when they were going to ditch the kit. "You could give the kit an arsenal and he still wouldn't know how to defend himself," she says harshly and looks each group member in the eyes. "Everyone needs to be using their brains right now, not with their hearts. Everyone is thinking it, but you're too afraid to say it. The kit has to go. He's a liability and will slow everyone down," she growls assertively, preparing for their reactions.

Desmond Clarke
Desmond listened to the fox. She wasn't wrong. Reconnaissance was an advisable first move. Getting to know what level of resistance they'd face, any emergency routes in case things went downhill, potential scavenging places. Knowing wasn't just half the battle. It was more three quarters of it. He nodded as she spoke, agreeing with what she had to say. As he heard a light, shy-toned voice, he turned to its source. It was the little kit, holding a bag of jerky. He had gone to the otter, who had greeted the kit in the first place. Desmond gave a nod and a slight wave of acknowledgement, still feeling bad about his situation. Before he could say anything, the wolf, Emily, had something to say about the kit. The lack of morality and sympathy in her words made Desmond wheel right around to face her. He may have been cold, but if it came to a situation like this he would never leave someone behind, let alone a young kit. "Listen here, have some damn morality. I know that the young one will be a weight, he will slow us down, but just because it's the apocalypse doesn't mean we need to abandon our consciences. He's coming with, even if I have to look after him myself." he snapped, a low snarl coming from his throat as he finished. He could already tell that he and Emily weren't going to be on the best of terms.

Adrian "Addy" Fulmer
Adrian smiled as Jask said he liked what he had grabbed. He then asked if he'd like to introduce himself. Adrian was never too shy, but with tensions still high he grew nervous and scared. He returned a wave to the fox as she sent one to him. He wasn't too worried about her. She seemed calm and a bit more friendly. Then there was the other two. The coyote and the wolf. They were the ones that concerned him the most. They spoke with bitter, cold tones. They seemed to be the most likely to resort to violence as they kept their guns close and easy to grab. As the coyote gave him a wave Adrian returned a much more shallow one to him. That was when the wolf began to speak. It was about Addy without a doubt. Hearing her words made him move a little more behind Jask as he held Bubba tighter. She said they should just leave Adrian because he'd slow down the group. That was when the coyote interjected. He spoke up, defending Adrian. The coyote was the last person he thought would stand on Adrian's side. Addy was weak, he was small, he was scared, he couldn't defend himself, but the coyote defended him. He still crept further behind Jask, holding onto his arm. He heard the snarl come from the coyote, and he feared there'd be more fighting. He felt tears welling up behind his eyes and a knot growing in his throat. He fought them back.
