Beauty and the beast style romance (closed)

The rumor wasn't new, it had been around for awhile. That the old mansion that once belonged to old scientist on the hill, surrounded by a fenced in graveyard was haunted after his death and those rumors were more or less confirmed by rowdy teenagers that thought they could sneak around the place for various reasons, pulling pranks, taking their girlfriends there to get them scared enough to consider sleeping with them after they 'protected them' from the ghost of the creepy old man. But every time they were all sent away screaming. The entire house was indeed covered in cobwebs and dust... all of it except the library. Oddly enough. The mansion was indeed inhabited, but not by something so foolish as ghosts or phantoms. Such rumors at least kept potential buyers... at least for now... until one woman new in town goes against the grain and brushes off the rumors.

Creek... The sound of the rusty gate being opened echoed throughout the parameters of the whole abandoned mansion. Clack clack clack... And sounds of a young woman's heels entered with the sound of the heavy rain. Ui, a young lady with a light brown hair stopped and stared at the huge mansion while holding her rainbow colored umbrella. Her face obviously looked pale like she was forced to enter. After all, the mansion was rumored to be haunted.

Ui was a new face in the city. She just moved in less than a month ago with her father after finally earning enough to buy their own house. First day of school was not a lovely day for the young woman, she was bullied by her classmates just for... Well, for being the new girl, and for growing up in a poor province. Since that day, she has been made fun of everyday that it feels like she had been dealing with it for a year. One day, she finally had the courage to stand up and tell them to stop. Finding her rebellious act interesting, her bullies made a deal with Ui that they will stop making fun of her if she can enter the haunted mansion, take a video of the whole house, and stay there for a night. The deal was to leave the video open for the whole night to make sure that she does not cheat the deal. Afraid, but determined to end her suffering once and for all, she agreed. And now here she is, her heart tells her that she cannot do it, but her mind was imagining how happy she will be after she proves that the mansion is not haunted and there is no such thing as ghosts.

The young lady walked in front of the front door and knocked. Obviously it was abandoned so she did not wait for anybody to answer. She took her video camera from inside her bag and turned it on. Slowly she opened the enormous door and went inside. Looking at how dark it is, she also turned her flashlight on and slowly proceed. Every step she took, she was looking left to right, up to down, cautious if something is going to move or if she can see anything creepy. As promised, she also need to swing her camera around to video tape what she can. Ui was also cautious about not bumping into the cobwebs or any dirty furniture. And alas, a lighted room was visible. Her heart thumped immediately upon seeing what she never thunk of. So there IS somebody living in here! She was not sure though if it was actually somebody, something, who knows. What she does realize is she needed to satisfy her curiosity and walk into the light. Entering the room not too far from the door, she was amazed by how large the library was. It was full of books, more than what her school has actually. Ui walked around while slowly reading the title encrypted on side of the books one by one. Keeping herself busy as she already forgot her fear, she didn't realize the she left the camera on top of a side desk.

Deep within the library a shadow shifted delicately, having hidden the moment his sensitive ears had picked up on the dead give away creaking of a door opening. He knew that his clever ruse was up, but... perhaps with careful consideration he could scare this person away... as he had nowhere else to go. A creature such as himself was not wanted in this world. He was more than aware of that. He had been living her for many years ever since his creator hide died and in those years he had done his best to secure such rumors of hauntings so as to keep himself and this home from prying, potential buyers.

He was glad that at least this seemed to be a normal, young student. Said rumors tended to gave way to the nuts as well as it seemed, from the shadows he had once watched as some men in black robes conducted what appeared to be a ritual of some sort, black candles, goat blood and God only knew what else was in their little bag they had with them. They had been disappointed when their ritual failed and left of their own accord, had they discovered him he feared they would think he was what they had been so desperately trying to summon. It wasn't farfetched that he could be mistake for a demon. Blueish skin, pointed ears, claws and fangs might seem that way, as well as being much taller and more well built than a human. He was very well aware that he was a monster.

In the darkness he took several more steps back, inching into the further shadows, but unfortunately for him, he was a clumsy being as well as he was terrifying... and his arm brushed a neatly piled stack of books- ones he had already read the previous morning- and send it tumbling down into a spiraling freefall. Golden cat like eyes widened and he took several steps backwards, desperately searching for a place to hide before he could be caught, but his back hit the wall and there was nowhere else to retreat to.

(please, don't worry so much about it. Also, sorry for long waiting times, I'm baby sitting my nephew)

Thump thump thump thump...The sound of falling books immediately brought Ui back to reality, making her turn around automatically as she flashed her light to the opposite side of the room. The poor girl trembled and berthed heavily looking around to see what caused the noise. Staying close to the bookshelf she swung her flashlight around to see what she can find. "Who's there?", she uttered in a trembling voice, hoping that somebody human will answer or looking for a rat or some kind of creature who might accidentally hit something. Her light ended up on the pile of books messed up on the floor. She immediately knew that whoever or whatever caused the books from falling, was still in that room. What will she do? Will she run? Will she check who that was? As her eyes landed on her video camera, she thought that this whole instance will be recorded and she would look like a scardy-cat if she runs away. It also reminded her why she was here: to prove that there was no such thing as ghosts.

The girl immediately run to her video camera and grabbed it as if it was a race. She pointed the lens to where a shadow was as her camera and her light were obviously trembling. Fortunately for the Beast, that part of the room was dimmer and Ui could not see clearly. What she can see though is a large figure or something, who knows what it is. "Who are you?! Step into the light so I can see." She kept heading towards the strange figure in a slow pace. "I'm warning you! I'm currently recording this!"

With the faint light, his eyes glowed a blueish green like an animal's might. He blinked several times before closing his eyes and taking a step even further back, he feigned his most terrifying growl, hoping to pass as an animal that may scare her away. At first, that was indeed his intention, but then he heard her words about a camera and recording! That was undoubtedly the worst thing that could possibly happen to him. The last time a camera had been here, it had been a crew of ghost hunters and that had nearly been his undoing and gotten him captured, save for the hidden room behind the bookshelves. His only sanctuary. The very lab where he had been created.

His face curled into a scowl and his fangs showed. What was he going to do at this point? It seemed nearly hopeless, unless he was able to scare her enough and get the recorder. There was no other way, he didn't want to harm the girl, no, not at all, but he had to get that away from her at all costs. Despite appearances, as the saying went, he was more afraid of humans than they were of him. He raised an arm back, sharp claws poised at the ready, but then sighed and immediately lowered his hand. No. He could not bring himself to kill even at the cost of his own life. It seemed his home and sanctuary was about to be compromise beyond repair. It had been a good run. He himself mentally prepared to be taken in to proper authority.

Trembling, slowly moving into the strange figure, her eyes fixed straight on what she was about to face. Holding on to the camera, she made sure that she got the lens facing the creature, but so focused that she was unaware what the camera was actually recording. Walking closer to the broad shape that seems to be the body, she immediately noticed the shining, glaring, bluish green eyes staring at her which made her freeze a little as she stared into those eyes with fear. Slowly, she raised her flashlight to the direction slightly above her, revealing the horrible monster's face! It didn't even look like just a creature with fangs or claws, she thought that she had encountered a demon!

Ui's mouth slowly gasped as it opened wide when she was looking at the unnatural face. "Oh---my--- goodness----", she uttered as her heart thumped like it was about to stop soon. She dropped her camera to the floor because of shock. The lens pointed on the face of the horrible demon and the young girl who looked like she was about to get murdered. Ui knew she would die, but there is no time to think. As told by her instinct, she immediately run to the opposite direction in a panic, clashing and bumping in everything on her way. She stumbled, she got up, her flashlight dropped but she did not care. What she needs to do was run to the front door! Unfortunately, not knowing where she was running to because it was so dark, she stumbled on a broken, creeping floor end fell into a hole filled with the wood particles and broken pieces. The girl yelled as she fell and the next thing she knew, she was unconscious.

It had all happened so suddenly, the girl had undoubted seen and recorded him and now there she had been running from him, he set in motion to go and block off the main door so that she could not escape with evidence, thinking that if she ran off screaming of monsters people would assume and assure her it was only fright to cause the vision of him, but what happened next was entirely unexpected. He stood, silently staring at the new hole in the floor of the old mansion. Oh what a situation! He glanced around and picked up the recorder and flashlight, setting it aside for now, before he slowly approached the basement door and headed down to where the girl was.

He paused upon seeing the unmoving form of the girl, thanks to animalistic like night vision. He feared the worst... had he been the cause of a human's death? He had not once killed a single thing in his life... not even a fly... to think that he had taken a life, mistake or not... seemed almost unbearable. With a faint twitch of his lips he slowly approached the girl and glanced down at her, but that was when he noticed the motion of breath being drawn in and forced back out. Perhaps not all was lost... maybe if he left her down here she would assume she fell and had a bad dream? But then again... if she were injured he couldn't leave her in the cold. With a sigh of utter torment and indecision he picked up the small being and carried her upstairs, back to the library where the small lounge couch was, before setting her down carefully and looking over her for injuries.

Despite being unconscious, Ui's mind was pretty aware of what her senses tells her mind. While she cannot move and most of her body seems to have been sleeping at the moment, her sense of touch reports that she was being carried up high by a tall person with large arms. However, due to how bad she fell and how faint her heart got because of fright, she did not respond in any sort. The next thing she knew was opening her eyes, seeing a faint orange form of light. She felt that it was warm like she has been in front of some kind of fireplace. She was also sit laying comfortably on a soft lounge. It took a few minutes before her eyes cleared and her mind fully awaken. She tried to move her body to sit right up but "Aw...", she moaned. She had a lot of body aches and bumps from falling down. There were also a few scratches and slight wound on her arms and legs.

There she thought 'was that just a dream? Did I really see a monster and fell? Or was I just imagining things so badly that I fell? Monsters are not true afterall.', she thought to herself while touching a sore part of her leg. But wait, she thought, how did I end up..., she looked around slowly and noticed that she was back at the library, "... here?"

He sat silently nearby, still hidden within the shadows, but this time he had a small companion. A pitch black cat that shared his dwelling with him. He waited for quite some time for this little human to awaken and finally... it seemed she had. Well... this was indeed the true defining moment of what would become of his fate. He set the cat aside and patted it's head lightly, before standing up and approaching very quietly, wondering now if this person was seriously injured or not. He was well aware humans could handle quite a bit of harm, but sometimes they were fragile. In this case, he wondered if the former or latter would prove to be true.

At this point as he got closer he wondered how one might speak or if he should speak at all. Perhaps he could still turn around and the girl would think it was all some silly dream, but then again maybe not and if not... would he not need to speak with her and at least attempt a compromise of some sort?

As she was looking around the place to try to get some sense of what happened, she noticed that someone was slowly approaching. She was facing the opposite direction of where she assumed the "man" was. She kept still thinking what would be her next action. The "man" was near the door and there was no way she can escape with him in between. Ui finds herself trembling again. What does he want from me? Why is he staring? Is he a monster? Is he even a person? Am I going to make it out of here alive? , questions of worry continuously popped into her head, that is until she thought otherwise. What if that's a harmless creature? Or if he is a ghost, what if he is a spirit indeed of my help? A friendly ghost perhaps... She calmed herself a little. She wanted to face the "thing" but she was too afraid to. Facing the fireplace, avoiding to see what that was, she asked "Who are you?... What are you?"

Well. Now it was just too late. His brow furrowed faintly and there was a long moment he took to gather up his strength to go through with this. It would be the first time he had ever been forced to reveal himself. His footsteps came closer, scuffing the floor as he dragged his feet sluggishly while going ahead and stepping into the light with dread; eyes faintly squinted from the brightness. In his hands were her items that she had dropped, which here he offered them back to her from clawed fingers, lips curled downwards into the deepest frown his face could muster.

"These... belong... to you..." His voice was deep and it was grated from long periods of disuse. As for her question, he purposely neglected to answer, as he himself was unsure who or what he was, nor was he sure of his purpose here. "do with them what you will..."

With the words "There belongs to you", Ui knows that he was going to give her something. But is she going to turn? She was afraid to but she thought that he sounded friendly. His voice scared her though. She already had a glimpse of the demon-like creature, and now his voice is also large and big, as if it were from a beast. But what was the use of not turning around? He was offering something to her. She needs to turn.

Slowly with her head tilted downwards, her hair covering her face, she turned around. At first, what she noticed was a huge hand with enormous, sharp claws holding her flashlight and her video camera. She closed her eyes in an unnoticeable way, a sign that she was scared for she knew a monster, a beast was right in front of her. Though he sounded friendly, she could not trust him since well... This occurrence is not normal. She opened her eyes, hold her breathe to stay calm, and uttered a soft "Thank You", still not looking at her company. Ui slowly took both belongings from his hand avoiding to touch any part of his hand which for her is still very dangerous. She held onto her items near her body and thought what could she do next with this strange situation.

Ui lifted her head up gently to see the face of the man. Her eyes once again widened from what she saw:the exact same monster she encountered before she fell down. She did speak a word, she did not move an inch, she froze. Ui was unsure of her next action. Her mind was confused. He was kind to her and he did no harm. But right in front of her is undoubtedly a beast, a strange creature. She stared at him like he was going to eat her. Little she realized, she was trembling once again and tears begun to fall from her lovely eyes.

He would have spoke more and informed her that she was free to do with the recording as she pleased, but the sudden tears had startled him, making him visibly jump in shock, before shifting forward to investigate her. He wondered if the human had been seriously injured in that fall and needed medical attention. He had no first hand experience with humans, but with a library full of books and only time on his hands he had learned many useful things. If need be he could handle some sorts of injuries, depending on what they were.

What should I do...? he wondered to himself, feeling a faint of panic, due to never having to have dealt with something of this nature before. It left him speechless to say the least. He turned and briefly disappeared from the room, until returning within a few moments with a blanket, small in his hands, but for her it would be fitting. He assumed, maybe, perhaps that would help, before stepping out of her way. In a silent way showing she was free to leave whenever she chose... it would be alright. He was prepared to die. He had been prepared for it the moment he decided not to kill her. And maybe even long before that, because a creature such as himself, was smart enough to realize that he did not belong in this world with the human creatures.

Ui was just staring at him not knowing that tears began to fall from both of her eyes. That is until the monster left the room she felt that her cheeks were wet. What was I doing?, she asked herself. That must have offended him. She quickly placed her flashlight and camera on her lap, and searched for a handkerchief inside the pocket of her skirt. She took out a soft, pink handkerchief and wiped of her tears until the monster came. He gave her a blanket which she shly accepted. He seems so friendly yet she could not get used to the way he looks. It was in human nature afterall: to avoid anything that has the potential to harm you.

However, she must accept the kindness he was offering. He meant no harm afterall. Why not? After all that had happened, she does need something to calm her down. Ui took the blanket and covered herself with it. ”I'm sorry for budging in”, she said embarrassed. Thinking of something to say in that strange and awkward moment, she asked, ”So, have you always lived here?”

He remained silent for the longest time in his spot in the dark. It was very unusual to have conversation, he was not at all used to it and therefor he needed time to think up the words that he wanted to use. "I... do not belong anywhere else in this world..." He informed finally breaking the silence. "I will only... ask one thing... for just one more day... of living peacefully... before you turn me in." That was all that he wanted, just one more day to sort out a few things... before they would take him away and kill him... or continue the doctors various experiments upon him.

The girl was delighted to hear the monster speak. It makes her feel that he is more of a human than a beast. Then the monster said that he did not belong elsewhere in this world? What does he mean? Was he from another world? Is he an alien? What was he? That answer of his started Ui that she just attentively listened to what he was saying because that was indeed new to her. She wanted to ask the questions in her head when he continued as he asked a favor to live one more day before she turns him in? "Huh?", she uttered, "Turn you in to who?". The girl had an innocent expression as she asked the question. She had no idea about what his favor was due to his poor knowledge about him.

"Mmmm..." He let out a low sound, somewhere between a sigh and a grumble. It wasn't that he was upset, more or less it was in regards that he hadn't a clue of how he could explain it in terms that would put it as nicely as possible, since it seemed that the girl really hadn't a clue of the things that would be done to him should he be brought in and captured. They would undoubtedly try and use him as a tool or as a weapon and he would refuse... and as a result of such refusal they would terminate him. "What do you think would be come of me... should you show your recordings to anyone...?"

With the question he asked, she immediately remembered that she was supposed to do a recording for the mean girls to stop bullying her. She gazed at her camera and wondered about an answer to her question. She looked at him and the camera and to him again. "I guess they would capture you...", she replied in a sad tone. But then thoughts came into her mind. She thought that it would be fine if she just doesn't show her recordings to anyone if he would not do any harm. But wait, is he NOT going to do any harm? Well he IS kind, but who knows? He might be sent here from another planet for a mission. Wait, what is he anyway?. As trains of thoughts came into mind, the first thing she was supposed to say about not showing the videos to anyone was forgotten. Without thinking, she began asking a silly question out of curiosity, "Are you an alien?"

"Yes... they would capture me..." He semi echoed her reply, but decided to be nice and not go into detail of what would happen to him if he were captured. Those things would undoubtedly be the most unpleasant experience that one could ever go through... to be treated as a lab rat by those that looked at you as if you were a mere tool. "An alien...?" He questioned the question, with raised brows and his lips twitched, as if he wanted to smile with the humor of just how it sounded. "To be such I would have to be something that does not exist on this plane, but on another. No. I am a creation of your race. Though I suppose it could suffice to say to me you are the aliens to me... there to poke and prod at me for some unintelligible reason. To play God... when it is not your place."

She listened attentively to his story. The girl was actually relieved to hear that he was not from another planet. At least the situation had become less stranger. It was a good thing that he revealed that he was also from Earth and not some kind of creature which can cause potential harm like aliens or demons. From what she understands in her own capacity, she thought he was some kind of robot. He doesn't look like one though, he was not metallic. Maybe a Frankenstein would be a closer comparison. But why was he created? So many questions popped up in her mind that she forgot her past feeling of fear. Curiosity has sprouted. "Well if you were created, like some kind of Frankenstein, you must be made for a reason. Who was your creator anyway? I'm sure they would not experiment on you if someone was to own you.", she said positively.

"Mmmm..." His lips curled into a faintly irritated frown, due the fact of being called a Frankenstein... really, he didn't look quite so odd as that, he wasn't many pieces stitched together, he was his own whole being. Finally he held out a hand and pointed a clawed finger towards the picture on the reading desk. "That was him... my creator died long ago. I do not know the reason that I was made and I do not know my purpose here. I only know what I read among these bookshelves. In the pasty fifty years... the human race... has become... dulled... and inarticulate."

As the monster pointed at his creator's picture, she wanted to take a closer look, so she asked ”Do you mind if I...?”, making a gesture asking if she can take a closer look. Ui approached the picture and stared at it for a few seconds. ”I see..., she said. ”Well he must be nice for creating a kind hearted person like you. , she said facing him. She finally trusts that he might not be bad at all. ”Oh! By the way do you have a name?”

"Hmmm... do as you please." He turned a bit, this wasn't the reaction he expected, he more or less expected her to run screaming out the door, but this was much more pleasant than expectations. Although the words she uttered next were what surprised him most. "That person...?" That man had preformed numerous, agonizing tests and experiments on him to learn only God knew what. That man wouldn't know kindness even if it came up and mauled him. "A name...? No. However I do have a number. M-87 to be precise... I am experiment number 87... the only one to be successful."

"87...?, she repeated after he told her his 'name'. "Hm..maybe he tried so hard that he got to 87 because he was trying to make some kind of good. You know, maybe like Astroboy?", she said innocently as she smiled at her wild imagination. Can't blame her. The girl was exposed to those kind of reasons an experiment was made in movies. She doesn't know if he was aware of Astroboy though, but she'll let it slip. "Sorry about that...", she apologized. Ui realized she was just comfortable now talking with the beast. She thought maybe it's because she really got no one to talk to in this town since she moved in. The bullies seem to always follow her around. That thought suddenly reminded her of the deal. "Oh my shocks!", she shouted her usual expression as though she saw a ghost. "What am I going to do?", she asked herself even though her question was heard throughout the room.

"I... do not know what that is." He commented on whatever she were referring too. It was an odd situation, but he slowly relaxed and became a bit more at ease. His nerves had been quite frazzled over all this, but maybe he worried for no reason... maybe if she understood they would destroy him then she would not turn the video tape in. "Do...? as of with...?"
