Battle Royale

KillGill

Snap out of it

4/13/2028

Mr. Takiguchi's class of Burizu Shima Middle school has been chosen for this years Battle Royale Survival Program. The class consists of 34 students. 17 Males and 17 Females. The class has 3 days to have a winner. If the students fail to kill each other by the end of three days all the students die.

34 Students

3 Days

1 Island

No Escape.

Tatsumuchi lifted his head from the cold icy pavement. He slowly cracked open his eyes to the dark room with the others waking up as well. He fumbled the metal collar around his neck. "Where in the hell?" before he could finish he rushed over to Akuma and began shaking her. He gripped her shoulder and began shaking. "Akuma wake up!" the students around him slowly stood as they began to question where they were. The classroom was unfamiliar, and quite frankly disturbing. What seemed like blood stains marked the carpet every here and there. Tatsumuchi shook Akuma as hard as he could in hopes of getting a response. "Goddammit Akuma Wake up!"

@hisokun

Akuma shoots up in urgency, her black eyes flashing wildly across the room. She looks at Tatsumuchi, a question in her face. "Where are we?" She nearly chokes on a breath when she realises that there's a collar on her neck. It's squeezing her skin, making it harder to breath. She desperately tries to take it off, using her nails to scratch at the material. But it's obvious that she can never take it off. She pulls herself to her feet, taking the place in. Blood is splattered on the walls, with some kinds of signs painted on every corner. "Tatsumuchi," she says. Her chest is heaving, and she's trying very hard not to panic. But the swelling in her voice is already proof that she's close. "We have to get out of here."

Tatsumuchi nodded as he pointed towards the door. "We have to—" before he could finish the lights flickered nearly blinding him. Suddenly all attention was placed upon a man towards the front of the room. He was tall and had dark curly hair down to his ears. He stood silently surveying the students peering up at him. Tatsumuchi quickly grabbed Akuma's shoulder. The students stood quietly with there focus glued to the man. "Akuma.." The man swiftly turned around and wrote the letters BR on the chalkboard at the front of the room."No good. Thats what this country has become. He walked into the crowd of students and looked towards Akuma. "Do you know about this law?"

The man began laughing but quickly stopped

Listen up! Because of folks like you here, this country is absolutely no good anymore! So the bigwigs got together and passed this law. Battle Royale! So today's lesson is. Kill each other off until your the last one." The room was dead silent. The students were flat out terrified. Tatsumuchi refused to let go of Akuma. "We are going to start a video now. Don't fall asleep on me."

he pushes the play button on the video remote control. The television turned on. The video had a cheesy splash screen with a title, "The Right Way to Fight a Battle Royale! by the BR Action Committee".

The video training woman looked like she's in her mid-twenties. She looked way too perky and addresses everyone the same way a kindergarten teacher addresses her class. She's dressed as if she were going hiking and is wearing a T-shirt with the letters "BR" on it. She salutes the class. "Hello everyone! You are the lucky class chosen for this years Battle Royale!" The class stood in fear, their eyes glued to the screen. "Now, I'm going to explain the rules for you. Listen well to fight right and with gusto!"

The video graphic showed the video training woman in front of a topographical map of the island. "You are on a deserted island that looks like this! It's about ten kilometers around, but we evacuated everyone, so it's empty! The island's divided into many zones. Every six hours, your teacher will broadcast updates on what zones are danger zones! If you are in these zones, you should leave quickly because the danger is ... okay, about the necklaces you are wearing. They are one hundred percent waterproof and shockproof and permanent! It monitors your pulse, informing us of your location and movements. So if you linger in a danger zone, or cause trouble, we can identify you and transmit radio waves that trigger an alarm and BOOM! It explodes! If you try to rip it off, it explodes too, so promise not to try that, okay?" Tatsumuchi's eyes swung open as he gripped the collar. He looked at Akuma still gripping it, afraid something was going to happen. "Oh, I forgot one important thing. There's a time limit on this game! Three days. If we haven't got a winner after three days, all the necklaces automatically explode! And no one wins! So as long as we're here, let's fight hard so that doesn't happen!"

Tatsumuchi is gripping her so tightly, it looks like his fingers about to fall off from their sockets. But Akuma appreciates that all the same. She grabs one of his hands, lacing their fingers together. She slowly runs her thumb over the heights of his knuckles, trying to ease the tension from his body. She's doing this for herself, too, because she really has no idea how to react. She can sense Tatsumuchi's worry rolling off of him like a wave. It connects to her, trying to get her to see what's going on. She finally clears her head. She shakes the nervousness and confusion when she squeezes his hand. She listens well to the video, repeating it over and over in her head until it's practically burning in her mind.

They have to kill people. It's like they're being used as toys, scientific experiments to know who will be stronger between the two mice.

She looks at Tatsumuchi, who doesn't like to fight, who avoids violence at all costs. Akuma isn't any different. She doesn't have skills in weaponry or battles. This is a completely new field, but if she can figure out a strategy and learn how to fight along the way, then they may have a higher chance of surviving. She tries to analyse the situation. This is a fight - a Battle Royale. Most of their classmates will split into groups to make raids stronger. If Akuma and Tatsumuchi do that, they will probably be betrayed and killed in their sleep. It's better to go together and depend on each other, rather than join a group. And Akuma trusts Tatsumuchi - rather foolishly, actually - to know that he will never hurt her.

The fact that he's not keen on letting her go is enough proof.

She's not the only one in this situation. Surely, he'll also come up with a solution. She looks at him, trying not to look frantic. "What about weapons?" She whispers, holding his hand tight. If she lets go, her bones will surely crumble.

Tatsumuchi groaned at the thought of weapons. He didn't let go of Akuma, just as well his eyes were glued to the screen.

"Oh, I forgot one important thing. There's a time limit on this game! Three days. If we haven't got a winner after three days, all the necklaces

automatically explode! And no one wins! So as long as we're here, let's fight hard so that doesn't happen! You will leave the room one by one,

but first you get a kit. Inside is food and water, a map and compass, a flashlight and a weapon, so check it out later, okay? The girls might need personal items, so you can all take them. Each weapon is different. Not just guns and knives, either! It's random, so maybe you'll get lucky, maybe not. It eliminates natural advantages." The man at the room, now sitting down yelled out something that would completely change the game. "We have notified your parents, go for it!" Tatsumuchi remembered his parents back home. What are they feeling right now? Knowing there only son is in a death competition with all his best friends? "Okay, you'll be leaving by class number. When I call your name, I want to hear a nice big "Here! Boy

#1, Yoshio Akamatsu!" Suddenly, Yoshio a rather tubby kid stood up yelled out his presence. He quickly grabbed the bag nearest to him and scurried out of the class room.

Day 1 1:00 The Game Begins

Tatsumuchi Gripped Akuma's arm until his name was called. Tatsumuchi kissed Akuma on the cheek and grabbed his bag, never letting Akuma out of sight. He left the classroom quickly
descending into the dark island. He took cover In a small bush outside the school. He ruffled through his bag and finally found his weapon.....a fork. Tatsumuchi Let out a huff and quickly zipped up his bag, fork in hand.

Despite the situation, her face burns at the contact. Even after months of dating him, she's still not used to his blatant affection. Tatsumuchi feels warm - like sunflowers and summer - and Akuma doesn't want to lose that. Right now, this game is preventing that from happening. If there is only one winner, what then? And how can she be sure that they won't die in the process? She doesn't know the skills of some of her classmates, although she can attest the people with bigger advantages. Akuma hopes firmly - and rather stupidly - that she and Tatsumuchi are considered in the same scale.

When her name is called, she quickly snatches the bag. She tries to ignore the pain shooting up her ankles, threatening to unhinge the bones of her knees. She calms herself when she hops into the open area. Her eyes navigate for Tatsumuchi, knowing that he would never leave her hanging. She spots the tip of his hair behind a bristle of leaves and walks silently, looking casual. "Tatsumuchi," she whispers, joining him. "What weapon did you get?"

Tatsumuchi sprung up at the sound of Akuma's voice. "Akuma...I got a Fork." he starred down at the ground feeling somewhat ashamed of himself. He saw kids leaving with Knives, guns, axes, swords, and he got a fork. He peered back up at Akuma and , despite the situation, cracked a smile. "And you?" He pulled his flashlight from the bag and made sure nobody was around. Kids were still leaving the building and he knew if they stayed much longer one of them would come for Akuma and Tatsumuchi. "Akuma, we have to move away from here, its not safe." Tatsumuchi thought about how strange it was. Once all of these kids were best friends, now they all have to kill each other. Tatsumuchi knew there weren't many other class couples, which would make the two of them prime targets.

"A fork," she repeats, trying not to let a laugh escape her throat. She can't believe her boyfriend got a fork. What is he going to do with that? Stab it in another person's eye and pretend that it's food? Actually, that seems pretty accurate. She rummages inside her bag and finds a switchblade, sighing in relief. "It's not a knife, but it'll have to do." At least, it can cut ropes, sharpen new weapons. It's a lot better than having guns, where bullets can't easily be replaced. She nods in agreement. "Okay. We have to find some place to stay. Stock up on food, so that we won't be distracted later."

Tatsumuchi ruffled through his bag and pulled out his map. "There." he pointed at the map, more specifically a barn in sector A8. We have to get going quickly. He gripped Akuma's wrist and pulled her through a trail leading its way through a dense deciduous forest. The moon poked through the multiple cracks in the roofed forest. They ran through the forest when they suddenly stopped. "Akuma.." on the trail lay a dead body. A large slash going from his left hip to his upper right pectoral. The slash was big enough to show entrail and bone. Tatsumuchi fell to his knees and covered his mouth. "It's Shogo.." Tatsumuchi grabbed Akumas leg, unable to take his eyes off of the body. Only thirty minutes in and already someone had slashed up one of their class mates. Tatsumuchi was Shogo's partner for the science fair. The moon shined its light on have his face, leaving the other half of his face darkened. Shogo's face still remained in fear and shock. Shogo dated lots of girls, making him a prime target for this horrific game. Tatsumuchi looked up at Akuma with what felt like a tear streaming down his face. He quickly wiped the tear with his sleeve, he didn't want Akuma to see him like this. "Who, do you think did it?".

"I don't know," Akuma whispers back. Her voice is nearly breaking when her eyes trail down Shogo's body. His stomach is open, letting loose a lot of blood. His shirt is damp, which means that the kill is fresh. Akuma bends down to inspect the body further. She tries not to concentrate on the bile rising in her throat, and instead focuses on trying to figure out the attack. Judging from its expression, Shogo didn't even have time to fight back. She tears off the shirt, her fingers catching on the blood spilling out of his body. The first stab is near the stomach, the second is in the heart. The others are just careless, stab wounds to prove that they've left their mark. Akuma can wield out the faces of their classmates, the ones who are most likely the murderers. By the end of this game, Akuma and Tatsumuchi would be one of them, too. So, what makes the killer any different? She wipes her hands on her shirt and turns to Tatsumuchi. She frowns in worry. She kisses his cheek softly, letting her lips linger for more than a second. "Tatsumuchi," she says softly. "I'm so sorry, but we have to go."

Tatsumuchi nodded. He lifted himself and they were on their way. It took them a few hours but the finally made it to the barn Tatsumuchi was looking for. Once the sat himself down, the first announcement was called.

Day 1 3:00

Hello students! Congrats to making it to the first Announcement! And now a list of kids who weren't as lucky as you...

Yoshio Akamatsu! Shogo Kawada! Yukata Sektio! And now the oncoming danger zones! At 4:00 A4, A8, and A9!

Tatsumuchi nearly threw up once the image of Shogo's body popped up in his mind. Zipped open his bag and drew an x on every red zone that was called out. He kept fumbling at the collar, maybe they were just lying? Maybe they don't actually explode? Either way they only had two more days to live. Tatsumuchi shook off the thought and stood up. "You sleep first, I'll take watch". He stood not far from her sleeping spot, Fork in hand.

"Okay." Akuma nods tightly. She curls into a ball, ignoring the chilly air around the forest. It's making her skin tingle unpleasantly, like there's something skinning her alive. She's always hated the cold. Now, it's just following her, watching her every move. She takes a deep breath, choosing instead to come with strategies on how to survive this game. Tatsumuchi is gentle and kind, but he will also protect the people he loves. Akuma, on the other hand, has no knowledge of weapons, but she can analyse situations and make sure that they survive long enough. Her hand forms into a fist.

Tatsumuchi was shaking like a dog. His palms flooded with sweat, in such a game/program you always had to be on edge. He couldn't shake the image of Shogo's body, the blood oozing out of him like a leak in a plastic bag filled with water. He wondered what the other students were doing. Tatsumuchi and Akuma were prime targets for girl #1 Mayumi Tendo. Mayumi had always had a soft spot in her heart for Tatsumuchi, she was devastated when word spread that Akuma and Tatsumuchi were dating. They were known around the clock as the class couple and for a reason, they had been together for quite the amount of time now.

Akuma gets a little rest, with what little space she's made for herself. Sometimes, she wakes up in cold sweat, and she looks around for Tatsumuchi, relieved to find him still in the same place. Somehow, the fear has conquered her, like her boyfriend can be taken away at any time. In this situation, her predictions aren't too far off. When she startles awake again, she finally decides to switch. She taps Tatsumuchi on the shoulder, whispering, "Why don't you sleep now?" She wants to do something. She wants to make sure that she can protect him, too.

Tatsumuchi nodded. Dark rings had already formed around his eyes. He created a make shift bed out of the piles of straw around the barn. It pricked a little, but it was better then nothing. Before going to sleep he had something on his mind he just needed to get out. He stood up and placed his palms on the billow of hay behind him. "Akuma...I love you" his face flooded with red, as this was the first time he had said this in a while. Tatsumuchi shot Akuma a smile then slowly laid his head down back on the hay.

Just before Tatsumuchi ducks under the grizzly stems, Akuma whispers back, "I love you, too." They've rarely said those words, even though they're true. Maybe it's because they don't want to abuse it, or neither of them are just ready to fully comprehend it. But Akuma knows that their feelings are real. She trusts him, and hopefully, he does, too. She concentrates on guarding, her eyes sweeping past the thick bursts of trees in the forest. After a few more hours, her eyes are already wide awake, alert. When she hears a faint sound coming from the rear end of the barn, she jolts up. "Tatsumuchi," she says softly. "Wake up."

Tatsumuchi Lifted himself from the billow of hay. His hair formed in large clumps as the pointed out of his usual hair do. He peered at Akuma with tired eyes, he could barley keep himself awake. "Whats up..?" A small cut oozed blood from the side of his index finger. He placed his thumb on his finger and rubbed it in a circle. "Everything okay..?

"I think someone's here," she whispers, already leaping to her feet. "We have to go check it out. Just to be sure." It may only be an animal. This is a barn, after all. But it can also be another student, sneaking up on them. Akuma doesn't want to risk the chances of them getting killed; she can't lose Tatsumuchi. She just can't.

Tatsumuchi starred at her anxiously. "Akuma...wait..." I, he was quickly cut off by the oncoming announcement.

Day 1 8:00 A.M.

Wakey wakey sleepy heads! Time for your 8 o'clock announcement! We will start off with those who have passed since the last announcement. Mizuho Inada! Yukiko Kitano! Takako Chigusa! and now the oncoming danger zones! A10 A3 A11!

Tatsumuchi once again yanked the map, scribbled down the letters and tossed it on the floor. "Akuma...be careful.." he knelt down and kissed her on her hand.

Akuma nods tightly. She gathers her courage in her chest and proceeds to the back, flipping her knife in her hand. She draws a nervous breath as she heads outside, hiding behind the rumble of bushes and trees surrounding the area. She sneaks when she sees a dark figure looming near the rear of the barn. She raises her hand, but before she can take another step, someone snags her at the back, and she lurches forward.

Tatsumuchi uncomfortably sat in the barn. The heavy and overwhelming smell of animals and garbage filled the air. He wondered around the barn, until his negative thoughts overwhelmed him. He swiftly, made his way out of the barn, still gripping his plastic fork. In a crazed panic, he circled the barn, searching for Akuma. "Akuma!" he yelled out her name, hoping she heard him.

The pain slices across the length of her spine, giving her warning signals. She feels like her body is about to convulse. The person who's ducked her forces another beating toward her head. Her mind spins, affecting her eyesight in the process. The ground looks hazy and shaking. Tears have sprung to her eyes, and she tries to get a hold of herself. She blindly swerves around and digs the weapon into the person's body, but her vision is so hazy that she can't even see what she's hitting.
