Baroque Art Study- King Charles II

So a few days back, I went to London and saw a play that had King Charles II in it. I was inspired to try and recreate a baroque art study of him cause I like his face, and I tried to draw it traditionally, but I ran out of paper space to fit the wig in, so I decided to try and paint it all in Photoshop over the past few days.


As of yet, the piece is unfinished, but I'm gonna upload a few progress shots of the piece that I took from the beginning throughout, and update as the painting gets completed.

23.08.15 - Face is completed! Now onto completing the rest of the skin!

This was before I tweaked the colour palette a little as it was too pale.

This is the most recent version of the head.

I will be repainting the torso, and maybe improving the colours elsewhere before I even get to the hair.

I repainted the torso (it's a shame it's gonna be mostly hidden by hair (it's why the proportions look a little off), and I'm a little annoyed that the skin of the torso isn't the same as the earlier painted face.


I also added the hand and added the nipple.

I added on a nipple, added the fingers and started to improve the cup, although the stand will be done last. The next stage will be maybe repainting the clothes or maybe the background. Undecided at present whether to repaint the nipple or not. I'm unsure if the hand position looks off. What do you think?

Made the fingers look warmer, repainted and realigned the nipple, improved the cloth coverings and did the background.
