Note the deplorable conditions aboard the Two-Tailed Sprite. While some his best memories are in that kitchen he will not miss the mess.

Personality: Bart is an level headed and optimistic person. Set backs and disparagement can't keep him down (no matter how hard they try) due to his forever sunny disposition. While many might call him agreeable he just knows a good thing when he hears it. While it is rare he occasionally shows his temper. In which case, antagonist beware. He enjoys working in the kitchen of The Moon and Mug. Many consider the taste of his food to be 'Exotic' which is why he takes Flynn's advice. Flynn's 'Common' tongue is much more in touch with the patrons and that is why he welcomes his input and enjoys his help.

Biography:

Bart lived his life much like any other beholder, as an aggressive paranoid isolationist. Thwarting unlucky adventurers who came across his lair and entered in hopes of loot that might be found inside. It was one of these adventurers that changed Bart's life. A group of adventurers had wondered into his lair and he dispatched all but one of them in a long and difficult battle. The last remaining adventurer was a wizard by the name of Chakakhan. After unsuccessfully pleading for his life and passage out of the lair and promising to never return he tried something few others did, striking up casual conversation seeing that his end was near. Bart was taken aback and figured he had nothing better to do after adding another petrified corpse to his trophy room and returning to enjoying some alone time. They talked for hours, the part the conversation that interested him the most was the talk of destiny and his life goals. Never giving it thought before Bart was introduced to the concept of aspiration. An hour later Bart was now regretting that he had hastily petrified the wizard after he sneezed.

Now Bart had some time to mull it over and decided that he should leave his lair and seek out a worthy aspiration. However other creatures were not too pleased to see him and he had it rough toward the beginning of his journey. A journey which led him to the astral sea where he met an Illithid chef by the name of  Maanzecorian who would eventually be his mentor and teacher. They traveled together and eventually joined a pirate ship by the name of the Two-Tailed Sprite where they acted as cooks. After enjoying years on the astral seas his journey with the crew was ended when the ship was destroyed in an attack by a rival group of pirates the Wolpertingers. Bart was captured and after he eventually made his escape he decided to leave the astral sea behind.

This took him to the middle of nowhere. He was a patron who after losing a dear friend and mentor had no clue what he would do next. He noticed a lack of kitchen staff in the Moon and Mug and inquired about the position. He has been chef for a few months now and is enjoying it.

Equipment: Because he escaped Bart only brought the things he managed to steal from those he killed in the process.

A few gold pieces and small gems, a bandana with the Wolpertinger symbol embroidered on it, a dagger, one die, a belaying pin, and an eye patch.

Abilities: Beholders are innately magical beings with ten eye stalks each having a magical effect and a center eye that can project a cone of anti-magic. However during his travels he has managed to adapt some of his eye stalks abilities to suit his aspiration. Instead of instilling fear, charming, knocking out, disintegrating, and slowing his stalks now act as aids in the kitchen.

Petrification has me worried as well as the cone of antimagic. What are the weaknesses and limits of both? The Cone of Antimagic needs to be explained because a name doesn't offer much explanation even if I can take a guess. I'll also assumed you won't abuse the telekinetic and heat rays. Also, really cool character concept.
