Breath like phantom limbs


a half-remembered scream


fingerprint ghosts and hymn


kaleidoscope a dream


copper memories


pyrite in distant light


great valued fallacies


made concrete by the night


watercolor rain


outside is not Kansas


inside a scene of pain


double-sided canvas


light as paint


dark as stain


plaster saint?


glass disdain

2 Fear with smiles our own reprisal


1 False in alabaster hue


2 Gypsum poisoned, not suicidal


1 Hide our vital color


2 Minds of dormant marble


1 A hammer for amour


2 Agonizing marvel


1 A skull to sculpt escape


2 Indentured to a larger machine


1 Through every thought, hesitate


2 A loss of all sanguine


1 Not to deliver death


2 A cruel force of mind


1 Retaken by final breath


2 Repaid in kind.
