In the modern time where man and supernatural walk hand in hand, the use of magic is outlawed without a license to practice it. To get such a license one must go to the many schools of magic to study and learn how to harness it. There are many ways to learn how but in one such school the way it is learned is to summon a angel companion that will help them throughout the school year to harness spells, summonsing, potion work, and incantations. Throughout the history of the school nothing went wrong. Until this year when one such student messes up and instead a angel companion he summons a demon.

-Bio-
Aello is the prince of his clan, come to the magic school in hopes to learn how to be a better prince by acquiring new skills. He loves to read, collect rocks, and eat food. A bit of a softie and isnt sure if he is ready to rule the clan after his mother and father step down. He also is unsure who his mate should be.

Aello was silent as he sat there in class, it was abuzz with what was to happen today, after weeks to at least a month to prepare they were finally going to summon an angel so that they could start studying in earnest. He was excited too! He couldn't wait to meet his angel instructor hoping that they get along fine with one another maybe even soar a sky or too on their free time. The harpy prince was something of a novelty here at school. Until now the harpies never interacted with anyone but themselves having small villages deep in the forested areas. He had to fight his parents in applying and coming to this school, he realized that the world was leaving them behind and he wished to keep in touch with the world so if the time came that he needed help with his reign he knew how to traverse the outside world. He was thinking of the future and trying not to be stuck in the past.

"Alright now class settle down. Were going to get started." The instructor began "I know you know what to do today but lets go over one more time for good measure. One by one you are going to come up and summon your angel counterpart. You are being tested this is your monthly test after all. You will be tested on circle drawing, correct placement of the materials, and how fluent you are in your incantations." The teacher looked to all of them "Once you summon your angel be polite to them and introduce yourself and then escort them to your dorm room and show them where they will be residing for the year. But know this...you only get one shot. If you fail you will be moved over to the non magic classes. Clear?" Everyone either nodded or a resounding 'yes' came from the class. No one wanted that, to how he was told you had your magical classes. Like herbology, potions, charms, elemental magic. Then you had your non magical classes like math, geology, social studies, art. Why come to a magical college and not do magical studies? "Good now we will be going by dorm room number." Aello was could feel his excitement bubbling in his core as the humans called it 'butterflies in your stomach' but there was one wrinkle however...as he opened up his book to the right page he stared at the words. He was horrible at reciting incantations. Sometimes he says the wrong pronunciations, to the wrong words. He had been practicing but only time will tell if he will do it right or not. One by one the class

Soon his name was called and he stood in a buzz "Y-yes ma'am!" he gathered all his things and scurried to the front of the room in a sort of hop like wild birds do. He looked to her and she nodded and gave him a piece of chalk, looking down the last circle was wiped clean so the circle wasent confused by the one before it. He took a deep breath and went on his hands and knees and began to draw the circle he had memorized. It was clean and precise, he then began to place the elements on each points of the circle muttering in harpy under his breath as he did so. Once that was done he stood up and he exhaled letting the teacher examine it like she did with all the rest. With a nod after she wrote down notes "Alright.Begin Aello." He nodded and to stood in the correct space his bird like feet shuffling a little bit in nervous energy. Breathing out another deep breath.

He flipped to the page staring at the words, he could do this....he then began to recite. "O iurate venti, mihi tam clara semper. Vos appello ritus contractus obligandi." When nothing happened and the teacher tilted her head in confusion he cleared his throat "Uh...let me try that ag--" But he didnt get the words out. There came a wind in the classroom that made paper flutter the wind then centralized in the circle making the items skitter back. There came a sound like glass cracking a portal much like a angel started to form. But there was something different about this one, it began to crack and open wider as the portal cracked wider and wider so did the wind began to swirl stronger. People ducked in cover but Aello was used to these winds he stood firm as he stared at the portal as it opened up. But everyone stared when an angel didnt appear but something entirely different.

Anika was having rotten luck. The store was a mess. Her brothers had been out drinking for days. The money was spent and the books were in the red. The silver haired female sighed heavily as her wind threw a tatrum around her. She wanted out of this morbid, sedentary lifestyle.

Anika had not been happy in a while. Her whole life had been preplanned for her. She had wanted to teach magic, and was working to master the other elements. But her father had determined she would not be a magic teacher in this lifetime. Or at least he thought so. As the female demon stood in the middle of her tantrum, she felt a strange tug. She calmed her wind as curiosity hit her, the tug getting stronger. But the wind didn't stop.

Anika looked down as a summonig circle appeared at her feet. She yelped when the circle dragged her down. She fell for what felt like a moment, only to tumble out on the floor of what appeared to be a classroom filled with shocked faces. She huffed her bangs out of her face.

"Um.... hello....?"

Aello stared at what came tumbling out of his circle that he had drawn. The teacher stared down at her as well in a shocked expression she then gasped when she figured out what she was and pulled Aello back behind her. Aello having no clue what he did he looked down to the being in a blind curiosity "Hello." he returned the courtesy it was only polite to do so. The teacher glared down at the girl "Vile demon." she spat "You do not belong here make one wrong move and i will send you back to the hells whence you came!" she threatened Anika with a glare. Aello heard the students behind him whisper amongst one another but he paid no mind to them and more to the book in his hands "Huh...i know i said it right...." he spoke as he read it "Ah wait i misread this part here instructor." He nodded before he looked up "But i DID summon so does this mean i dont get put in the non magic studies course?" The teacher looked at him in alarm "Mr. Aello this is a demon one of nothing but tricks and evil doing. You can not mean to say you want to use it in place of a angel?!" Aello blinked and looked to Anika then back to the instructor before nodding "I mean there is nothing that states in the rules that say that what i summon has to be a angel."

Aello looked back to Anika as the instructor huffed and puffed as she stomped out claiming she was getting the principle. Aello sighed and shook his head before looking down to the demon and extending his hand to help her up "Uhmn Aello Stormsong nice to meet you...?" he spoke not knowing her name.

Ankia stood, using his hand to pull herself up. She dusted off her clothes and used a puff of wind to smooth out any wrinkles in her red cloak. She looked him up and down carefully before crossing her arms over her chest. "Anika Mayhew. Where the hell am I? Because it certainly is  not Hell..... and what exactly are you?" Anika asked.

She was very confused and could sense a large amount of angels present in this place. She had the urge to shapeshift and run, but with no portal keys, she had no idea how the heck she was supposed to get home. Or where she was in order to aquire a portal key. Her red eyes glanced around at the other people in the room. They all stared at her like she was filth, something she was unfortunately used to.

Aello watched her get up and dust herself off and use wind to smooth her clothes out in awe while the others shrunk back not sure what to do. He stood there not shrinking back like the others and she introducing herself and asked what not who he was but he didnt mind he was asked that all the time. Aello tilted his head " You are at sedonia, Academy of the arcane. Its a school that teaches magic to people who are interested. This school we summon angels to help us harness magic better." He nodded as he stood there "As for what i am im Aello im the heir to my flock. Flock of harpies that is." He puffed his chest out proud to say that. "Im here so then i can learn more about the outside world and to learn magic so i can better lead my flock when the time comes that i must take the lead." He gave a nod before he heard the bickering of the teacher coming the hall. Turning just when they came in.

The harpy saw the principle and he waved "Principle Raegner! Sorry to disturb you! How are you on this fine day?" he asked with a smile like he had done nothing wrong. The older man sighed and nodded "Mister Aello its nice to see you as well, keeping your professors on thier toes it seems?" The harpy laughed and nodded "Of course! You never should stop learning and i hope im teaching them that?" he looked at his professor who was crossing her arms but not saying a thing. The principle walked forward and stopped between the two of them "Either way i see you summoned something other than an angel hm?" Aello sighed and rubbed the back of his head "Ah yes i think i misread the incantation. Im still not very good at it..." The principle looked to Anika and nodded "Its a pleasure to meet you miss. Sorry for the sudden summons."

"I'll admit it was a bit of a shock. I've only ever heard of summons before and not actually been a part of one." She said softly. "Anika Mayhew. Shapeshifter and air elemental." She introduced to the principal, not offering a hand to shake.

"You have a beautiful school here. And I understand I am not exactly what your student was supposed to summon. But if it is all the same, I am fluent in all four elements and master of three." She said.

Anika figured if she had been summoned then it was for a reason. She had always dreamed of teaching magic. This was her one chance to get to prove that she could. To live out her dream if they decided not to kill her for being a demon. She still had her guard up. Anika had no idea whay she was doing. But at this point, anything she could do to not go back to her family was an option she would take.

The principle smiled and nodded "Its a pleasure to meet you Anika Mayhew. Im sure you met Aello out resident harpy this year as well?" He nodded to Aello who wa splaying with his long hair as he let the principle talk. "Ah and thank you, it is my pride and joy and life's work you see. And ah wonderful! that is all we can ask for really." He nodded before he looked to the two of them and nodded "Hm yes indeed I see no harm in this." the teacher prickled "But principle raegner! She is a demon! Mister Aello shouldent be allowed to keep one in a school full of angels no less! What if she causes chaos?!" The principle looked to the professor and sighed "I doubt she will I place my faith in her to teach and nothing more. Plus there is nothing in the rules thats states that it has to be a angel, it could of been a magical alpaca that knows magic and i would of went with it." he chuckled and looked to them both then to Anika "Welcome to Sedonia Anika. If you ever need anything or have problems please come to me...that is the same to you too Mister Aello!" Aello smiled his way and nodded "Of course!" It was when the principle nodded and made his way out of the classroom. The professor stared at them both and then sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose "Alright....Mister Aello if you please take your demon to the dorms like the rest of your classmates..."

Aello perked and nodded "Yes Professor!" He looked to Anika and nodded "Come this way!" He walked and gave a few hops over to his desk to grab his stuff before he lead Anika off out of the classroom building and outside. He then began to point out places around the grounds and gave her a small tour of the place until they reached the dorms. When they did they went upstairs and to his dorm room and in. It was a decent sized room with two beds on each side with two desks and two closets. Aello's side of the room was filled with things he mostly collected throughout the month he had been here. Along with books everywhere and opened here and there. He gave a nervous chuckle "excuse the mess i uh forgot to clean up this morning." He nodded before sitting down on his bed. "But this is where you will be sleeping during your time here!

Anika was a little overwhelmed as she took in the campus of the school. She had only ever heard stories of the beautiful schools filled with magic. And how lucky had she gotten to get to teach a student, let alone one with wings. She wasn't awestruck, but the young demoness was impressed.

Anika was quiet until the reached the dorm. Once she saw the state of the dorm room she chuckled. "I grew up with several brothers. This is nothing new to me."

Anika looked at her half of the room and frowned. She would need to summon clothes and her books. It would be a good first lesson for her new charge, seeing as how his incantations needed work.

"I suppose we should start with basics. I'll need to summon some of my things. And then we need to figure out just where you are in your magic. I am not the strictest of teachers. But I do expect you to be diligent in learning elemental magic. I did not master three of the elements by the age of twenty without putting in the work." She said, leveling him with a firm but kind gaze.

Aello sighed when she said she was fine with it he liked his things that he had collected. It was anywhere from books, to feathers, to pretty rocks. He liked collecting things like the little bird he was. When she spoke of starting with the basics he perked "O-oh were starting right now? Okay! uh hold on let me grab a notebook and pen..." he nodded as he hopped up and went to go do just that. It took a bit of rummaging but he finally produced the items and he went and sat down. "Okay...im ready..." he nodded. He then hummed "As for magic i know a little bit...not much us harpies are not taught magic growing up so i had to learn enough to get into school otherwise im pretty much new to all this." he nodded again.

He was excited though he was ready to write notes down tilting his head "So were going to learn how to do summoning magic then?" He asked so he knew what they were doing "Is there a limit of of where and how far the magic is supposed to go for? I dont know where you came from soo..."

Anika sighed. She definitely had her work cut out for her if he didn't know very much magic. She looked around, casting a float incantation without words to move a few books into neat piles. She flipped her hood down, revealing her shoulder length silvery white hair.

"Well for starters, I came from Heillen. It's one of the occupied demon communities in Hell. Magic is a way of life there. Summoning and simple incantation for cleaning and menial tasks, can be done without words if you practice enough." She explained.

"I will need to summon some belongings. But that may take a little more energy than normal depending on how far from my home we are. Have they taught you any of the basics of nature magic yet? Or just how to summon beings?"

Aello watched in awe as she was able to make the books float and stack themselves neatly. It was stuff like that he wished he could do it would make cleaning up easier thats for sure. But his attention was grabbed when she spoke about where she was from slowly he nodded as he listened to her intently. When she asked of what magic they were teaching he hummed "Just summoning the whole last month was learning how to summon and how to speak incantations and what not....though im not so good at it...common tongue is my second language so im not used to forming odd words in it..." he blinked "At least thats what i think anyway."

"So how do you summon items? Do you need items to summon them or is that just for beings? Do you need a circle too or is this another thing you can just well...do?" He asked curiously as he pointed at the books to signal what he meant.

Anika stared at him as if she were appalled. He had no knowledge of anything elemental. Summoning was useful, yes, but there were so many more aspects to beginners magic. The white haired demoness shook her head.

"Okay. First off, you can do incantation in your native language. I do it all the time. And with enough practice, incantation can be used as thought and you won't even need to speak. Secondly, circles are only required for summoning extremely far away or strong objects or beings. I can summon things that are infused with my own aura as easily as snapping." Anika said, snapping her fingers as a pile of clothes and books appeared on the bed.

"We have a lot of work to do. I want to see the textbooks and curriculum of your magic classes. Because what you're going to learn from your professors is logical. What you will learn from me is practical. And practical magic is the useful stuff."

He blinked when she gave him a look he wondered if he said something bad did he do something bad? Either way she begn to explain and he frowned softly “i dont think i can um …harpy language is more like guterual coos, purrs, clicks, and song. We then use that coupled with common tongue to form the usual songs you hear in stories to lure in prey.” He shrugged “i dont know if it will work with harpy tongue.” But he nodded as he listened but jolted when some things dropped onto her bed and he looked at them and then at her. He knew that it would be useful to know how to do such magic.

When she sid that she wanted to see his text books and curriculum and he nodded and went to work on getting just that. Grabbing this and that he then placed the text books on the desk. “I have four classes this year. One is summoning and incantation every student has this cause every student must have a angel instructor. Then i have herbology and potions, magic and spells, and lastly was a class i got to pick so i chose astronomy. I thought it sounded fun.” He nodded with a smile but it dropped a little as he nervously watched her “but yeah please teach me all you wish to! Im happy to learn as best as i can!”

Anika frowned. "Every language should be able to do some form of incantation. Even if yours is harder to learn. I'll do some research on it. It is similar to bird song and even I can do incantation that way when in my raven form." She explained as he set out his text books.

She looked over the book covers, finding herself familiar with the authors. "Well this school has good taste at least. Astronomy will be good for you. The moon and stars can influence natural magic, especially water magic. Learning about that will help you learn the element."

She folded her arms as she started to float her belongings to a shelf and the dresser she would be using. She was proficient in helpful spells that it only took minimal concentration. "We will start you major lessons tomorrow. But so far I am impressed. You seem to have a natural gift for magic most do not."

Aello frowned "Trust me ive tried but failed..." he shook his head "If you can figure it out then that be awesome!" He nodded enthusiastically. “It would be so much easier if i can do it in harpy tongue i can do so much more in my language than common.” He watched as the things floated about to their new place and he sat down on his bed to watch such things still in awe not knowing why he hadent tried to go here sooner. Slowly he looked back to her and nodded “yeah ill study as best as i can! I found i loved taking notes so im a pretty good note taker.” He smiled and nodded as he watched her but blushed when she said he was good with magic and he rubbed the side of his neck a bit embarrassed “ah, really? I thought i was a bit behind actually with me unable to do incantations half the time. But thank you!” He smiled at her.

The bell then rang in the courtyard and he looked up out the window. “Ah dinner is served, are you hungry? Er do demons even need to eat?” He asked as he stood up and what about sleep do you need sleep? Ive heard that you do and you dont or does that just depend on the demon?”

Anika chuckled. "Of course we eat. Diets vary based on breed. But I am human-like. I eat regular food. Its sustainable for a while. And sleep can vary. Here in the overworld, I will sleep more than I do at home. But that is only because I use more magic here." She explained.

"After dinner..... would you like to go for a flight? I need to shift and stretch muscles." She said. She also hadn't been able to fly in a while and wanted to shift and use the warmth and freedom of the overworld.

Aello blinked when she spoke about how she could eat and also sleep it just would be a lot more than in the over world. He wondered how different the underworld was compared to here. But he banished that thought from his mind quickly he knew he could never go there so why wonder? Perking when she asked to fly after dinner he grinned "of course! It would be nice i havent flown around since i got here and a nice stretch would be nice!" He nodded as he walked to the door opening it for Anika first "After you." When she walked through so did he and they made their way to the cafeteria.

The food was always different over the month that he had been there he had to get used to the cuisine they had here. Used to hunting for his food it was kind of nice to be served for once. They ate and talked and Aello ignored the looks and whispers that he got from the others it seemed word traveled fast. But he didnt care in his eyes Anika was the best teacher he could of gotten.

After dinner he walked out with her and hummed as he stopped in a good spot as any to take off and he sighed "Man dinner was great..." He nodded to her and then tilted his head "So you said you can shift? Into what exactly?" He was curious.

Anika stretched, having thoroughly enjoyed dinner. She brushed her silver hair behind one of the grey fow ears atop her head.

"I typically shift into a fox or a raven. I've been working with changing into a hare as well but prey animals come harder because I'm naturally a predator." She said.

She looked up at the clear evening sky. "Tonight will be beautiful for a flight."

Aello blinked when she informed him she could shift into animals and more than one too! “Thats amazing…is that more so an ability you have or is that magic as well?” He asked with a tilt of his head. Slowly he began to unfold his wings which was an impressive length feathers golden like his hair. He gave a couple test flaps to make sure he was good to go. When he was sire he hopped a bit and he was sky born. Slowly he rose from the ground and he watched her to see her shift he was curious for sure. He hummed as he rose higher and higher he wondered what the school looked like from up high.

Anika focused on her body as she felt her abilities course through her blood. She could see the shape of a raven in her mind as her arms became wings and her body shrunk down. The sjoft was seamless, like a ripple on water. Once she had fully shifted, she flapped her white wings and took off, joining him in the skies. She circled, red eyes watching as she caught a warm draft of air and it lifted her wings.

Anika loved flying. She rarely got to anymore and she chirped and cawed as she flipped and dove, the freedom and weightlessness giving her a sense of relaxation she hadn't felt in ages.

Aello watched from the air as Anika transformed into a beautiful white raven the students that were near more shocked by it than Aello taking wing. Slowly he rose higher and inhaled the smell of the air that was higher up. Free of the smells of the smog that he had to get used to when he moved into more populated area a month back. He laughed as she flipped and dove about him he tried his best to do the same but he was too big to be as agile as a bird. The Harpys only wished they could be as such. Eventually the wonder from down below dissipated and he was able to fly with ease. Sighing as he did so he happily breathed in the air and flapped his wings. He didnt know when he would get to do this again with the real work starting tomorrow.

They flew for at least a couple of hours before Aello slowly descended to the ground below, touching down he sighed and flopped down wings spread wide. Breathing slow and steady his wings sore now from flying so much. But he enjoyed it it was nice to get out once in a while and to have a flying buddy. Closing his eyes he relaxed in the grass as he waited for Anika to come down as well.

Anika was thoroughly enjoying the flight. Clear skys and warm air currents helped to lift her. The shape-shifting demoness soon grew tired as she hadn't flown this much in a long while. She slowly banked to decend, cirlcing lower and lower until she landed perfectly beside him.

Anika tilted her head towards him and hopped circles as her magic fluttered around her and she shifted again. She morphed into a silver fox, twin tails sweeping behind her. It was rare she rver got to shift this much and she was relishing the feeling. She tipped her head at her Harpy student and yipped softly.
