Appearance:Besides the appearance presented on the picture there are few details that can be seen up close.
-A Necklace with a photo of his now deceased wife inside. (Explained in backstory)
-On the butt of his AK-47, there is something crudely written in Russian. "Мария" which if you have the knowledge of reading Russian would translate to Mariya. (Which could be possibly named after his wife.)
-He also wears a makeshift made and sewn patch with a gas mask and a Russian word above it. "уединенный" spelling Loner in Russian.
PERSONALITY
For a Russian person in an environment surrounded by people speaking only English would make anyone distance themselves from them. Though Artyom's case is different. Ever since his wife died he couldn't get back into normal society. So He doesn't approach anyone unless he has to.
He's a person you would need to work hard to earn trust from, mainly because he barely trusts himself. Every day and every night he sleeps with the thought that there was something that he could have done to save his wife but he didn't.
And finally, besides being a very silent person, he is not afraid of killing another human being if he is pushed against the wall to finally engage in combat. His wife is gone to hold him back. So he as to take the survival up to himself. Although he made a promise that he wouldn't die without a fight, and probably that's why he hasn't blown his brains out.
BACKGROUND
Artyom was born in Russia. Although he never revealed his precise location of orgin. He must have been from the mainland because he always said how he could take 2 trains and in few hours be in Moscov. In any case. He lived a rough life. Under alcoholic Father and mentaly disabled mother. Although his father couldn't stand what was of his wife he never lifted a finger on her. Instead he was beating Artyom. He more than anyone wanted to escape that life. So he endured it untill he was 16 and ran away from home. He arrived to Moscov where besides studing he took illegal jobs to support himself. His father never reported to the police that his son was missing so the authorities weren't looking for him. When he turned 18 he applied for the military service but was turned down due to lack of papers. At that point he finaly managed to find decent place to live, a proper job. Although an office job. It was still a job. During his time in vocational school. He met a woman that he began to date after his time there. Once he turned 20 they married. At the same time he applied for reserve military service. Which was accepted. At this point he was provided with a copy of 1947's AK rifle. (As any reserve solider recived proper traning.on how to use it and few other things) Once he turned 24, He has read about a new terrorist organization on the rise in Russia. He didn't think much of it untill the Early summer one year later where, the Terrorists have taken over a school which in his wife resided as a teacher. The terrorists killed majority of the students and those that they didn't kill they locked in the class rooms as they planted presumably C4 charges in the school. Before the military could respond the building blew up in a suicide attack killing everyone in the building and causing major injuries in the surrounding area.
The same day his wife told him that she had a bad feeling that day, but Artyom dismissed it. Only telling her that everything will be okay.
Shocked, day by day he fell into deeper depression. Becoming an Alcoholic. (Which alcohol was one thing that he hated the most before the incident due to his relations with his father.) His friends and his wife's family distanced themselves from him. Leaving Artyom with his own problems. After few years of this suffering he took it upon himself. He got his military attire, a lot of equipment, his rifle and gas mask and ventured into the town as a last-time suicide attempt to be finally put down by someone. But what he got instead is the end of the world. Waking up with all of his equipment intact haven't seen any living soul around. Though the surrounding was different too. It took him a while to realize he wasn't in Russia anymore and so he ventured across the wasteland that was all around him. Searching for food, and anything that could be useful. Sometimes giving it into his alcoholic tendencies.
In the new world, like a lost soul he wonders to find the final answer to what happend to this place. Because only then he will truly be able to finaly find peace.

SKILLS
1.Artyom Can play guitar when he feels like it. Probobly a personal hobby to get his mind off things.
2.There was a time in his life that he worked illegally as a barman for a small period of time. So if you got the drinks he can mix something up.

1Careful -.Although Artyom distances himself from everyone that's good. Because he is first to avoid betrail.
2.Fighter-Despite his sad backstory, he isn't the one to give in to death and will fight tooth and nail untill someone is gonna forcibly take his last breath from him.Given trough his military traning he recived back in the day, Artyom posseses vast knownlege on Survival.
