Martin always seems apathetic, but really, he'd just rather be asleep. Calm, rational, and usually quite pensive at the best of times, when in a good mood he can be quite the life of the party. Only a few of his closest friends, his real confidants as it were, know of his "mushy" side. Quick to love, and easy to talk to, he's never had trouble making friends. Keeping them, however, isn't as easy. He has little patience for people who want from him anything that they aren't willing to reciprocate.

From a moderately middle-class family, lower middle-class really, Martin has always had to work as hard as he could for what he has. Held back in kindergarten, he was always just a bit older than everyone else. Always a little bigger. Just a little bit on the outside, though he might have done that to himself.
His parents are a good sort of people, and he is very close to both of them. They have always done their best for him, but they could only do so much. He hit a lucky break in high school when he started playing ice hokey. Surprisingly good at it, he was able to win himself a nearly fill ride scholarship to college. Since paying for college on his own was almost out of the question, this was more than he could have hoped for. He has little ambition to do much outside of graduating from college with a degree that will get him someplace in life. Somewhere better than his parents. He has daydreamed about traveling, of course, but he's never considered that he would ever have the chance. Not for real.
