Lord Ainsworth
For both Lord Ainsworth and young Caelan to both meet their ends~ Poor girl, to be thrown into the midst of all this~ Truly, fate is cruel, is it not? Crocell, Grand Archivist
- Name: Elizabeth Ainsworth
Alias/es: Lord Ainsworth, Archmagus, False Heir of Ainsworth
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Alignment: Lawful Good
Personality: Stoic, emotionless, the Archmagus is not one know for conversation. In midst a vicious and unforgiving environment, where a single misstep could cause one to plunge to the very depths, Elizabeth has silenced her own heart, and resolved to never let even an inch of weakness seep through. Though, even the World System cannot tamper or kill human emotion; and Elizabeth is no exception, harboring a deep resentment for Nidhogg for the death of Lord Ainsworth and her 'beloved brother'. Though her desire to rid the World of Nidhogg may seem to be one born of responsibility for the World's stability, perhaps the real reasons are more selfish than that?
- Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Bio: “You are but a shadow - a spectre of the Archmagus. Knowing this, either resign yourself to exist only in his shadow, or silence your heart and do what you must, to become something greater.”
How could she possibly do so, though? To raise a hand against the sibling she had cherished most in the World? Truly, Lord Ainsworth, her father, was a cruel man. However, it wasn’t as if she couldn’t understand the nature of his intentions.
The Archivists’ existence had long strayed from a harmonious cooperation toward a similar, noble ideal. Rather, it had devolved into a loose ‘alliance’ between the three Founding Families, with the Archivists’ ultimate goal being simply an unfortunate byproduct, or simply a means to an end. And, for generations, the House Ainsworth had believed themselves to be the only remaining house to remain faithful to their original cause, paranoid of Von Einsiedel and Llywellyn seeking to usurp the Archmagus’ power and prestige. Ultimately, another selfish, corrupted idea that could not be better than the other two Houses.
His ‘idea’ was sound. The successor of Ainsworth was born as twins; herself, Elizabeth Ainsworth, and her brother, Caelan. However, the rift between their abilities began to manifest; Caelan proved himself a unparalleled genius, able to comprehend advanced thaumaturgical theory at the age where most could barely understand language to any advanced level. Ultimately, Caelan became the ‘rising hope’ of House Ainsworth, whilst Elizabeth became but a memory. Though her control and understanding of the World System was far beyond acceptable, it paled in comparison to Caelan, and, as such, Lord Ainsworth decided; either Elizabeth would drive herself to find what potential she had and surpass Caelan, be it out of envy, hatred, or anything else, or she would become left behind in his shadow, whilst Caelan made off with everything that could have been hers. Either way, he would be satisfied with the result.
And, when she outright refused to even entertain the idea of acting against Caelan, she was simply thrown away. House Ainsworth needed not trifling weakness that could bring down the entire family. And thus, Elizabeth lived as almost naught but a ghost, studying thaumaturgical theory and practising by her lonesome in silence, whilst the world outside beyond Avida’s Throne burned.
House Ainsworth however, would still fall.
With the rise of Nidhogg, and their destructive rampages that left even major cities in ruin, the Archivists too were thrown into chaos, with some suspecting even the coming of the Apocalypse, far earlier than any previous recorded time. And, when Nidhogg demanded negotiations with the Archmagus, the director of the Archivists, Avida obliged, cocky that Nidhogg had presented themselves to be wiped out in one fell swoop.
Thus, Lord Ainsworth himself, along with his successor and a sizeable squadron of the Einherjar’s highest members were dispatched to assassinate the ‘Black Serpent of Revolution’, under the guise of intending a non-hostile negotiation.
Sensing something awfully awry, Elizabeth protested at that time that she be dispatched in place of Ainsworth’s successor.
There was no merit in heeding the words of a ghost, however.
Elizabeth’s thoughts drifted back to that day once more. Had she protested further and not been so quick to resign herself to Lord Ainsworth’s judgement, would that day’s events had played out any different?
No - it wouldn’t have. After all, if even the Einherjar’s elite, the Archmagus, and the successor that surpassed him would all meet their ends at the hands of the Serpent, then what use was her, the dreg of House Ainsworth?
But, what of the future? Would Caelan have lead the Archivists to something greater, rather than the incompetent her who was struggling to even survive in midst of the Archivists?
Her contemplation was cut short by a sharp ringing, notifying her that there was somebody at her door. One glance at her screen reveals that it was her assistant. With a hiss, the doors to her office lifts, revealing at least three layers of blast-protection inlaid with defensive thaumaturgical circuits. She gives her smartphone’s wallpaper one last, sombre glance before it shuts, and her eyes glaze over once more as she looks at her assistant.
“Lord Ainsworth. The Board has called for a meeting, and your presence is requested.”
She sighs. Another pointless ‘meeting’, where the Board would no doubt use to prod at every possible vulnerability she had. This was quickly becoming tiring.
“Lead the way.”

- The Voice of Avida [ Thaumaturgy ]: The 'bloodline magic' possessed by members of House Ainsworth, this ability allows the user to manipulate the utilize Yggdrasil through simple thought and verbal commandment. For example, the caster can cause a target to spontaneously set aflame by simply uttering ‘combust’, or cause gravity to completely collapse in at a given area by saying ‘crush’. The only restriction is that the caster must have a clear image of what they desire to happen once the command is issued, and must have line of sight with the targeted object or area. While Yggdrasil automatically fabricates the most efficient and effective formula to achieve the desired result of the caster, it does not draw upon an external energy source to manifest the magical formulae. However, it the mental strain is significantly lesser than that of traditional thaumaturgy as most calculations are directly handled by Yggdrasil, and not the caster.

"What? Is it urgent, and if so, make it brief." - Small talk (?)

Lord Von Einsiedel
This shitty old man, proclaiming your goddamn neutrality whilst always getting in my way. And your fucking face, I want to rip that shitty smile off your face... Marianne, Executor
- Name: Crocell Von Einsiedel
Alias/es: Patron of Von Einsiedel, Lord Von Einsiedel, Grand Archivist
Age: Physically in early 30's. Actual age is irrelevant at this point.
Gender: Male
Alignment: True Neutral
Personality: Always smiling, the Grand Archivist's eyes reflect a deep sea of knowledge that is far deeper than he ever lets on. He is by far the most sociable of the Magi, often found fooling around with personnel rather than doing his job. It follows that he is also the most carefree, often putting his own whims above that of the Archivists' goals. Due to his bizarrely friendly nature and well treatment of personnel, he is often favored by the staff. However, the board despises him, who is completely beyond their control and petty manipulation, and rumors have spread amongst the directors that he has ties with Nidhogg, due to several successful negotiations with the terrorist organization by Crocell. However, he is also one to take swift action where needed, and will strike without hesitation should he deem necessary. He seems almost indifferent to Avida's cause, as well as Nidhogg's existence. - Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Bio: “Once a member of the Heavenly Powers, he reigns now as a Duke of Hell, holding sovereignty over 48 legions of daemons. When invoked by a summoner, he appears as a mockery of God’s children, bestowing upon his summoner geometry and all sciences formerly incomprehensible to the mortal mind.” - The 49th Seat, Crocell
The World spins. Like a broken merry-go-round, it whirls before it sputters, and ultimately collapses. Yet, it is put back together and put back into commission all the same, until it inevitably breaks down all over again.
Born of an era devoid of Avida’s light and loving gaze, the demon knew of only his name. It was a World following a cliched storyline; of a living hell, of a lawless land where strength equated to virtue. It was in that world where the Duke reigned, and it was there that the Duke watched his World crumble to dust at the hands of a ‘Hero’.
A laughable development, that was. Seventy-two ‘Demon Lords’, seventy-two villains whose corpses would pave the way for the Hero’s Journey, wherein the end entailed naught but despair. And Lord Crocell would be sealed away, buried away in his sarcophagus whilst still living.
In darkness he spent, ages, aeons, epoch, until a child of a much, much later reincarnation of the World would call upon his name. A nameless child, seeking secrets of aeons long past. Amused, and intrigued by what has become of the World, the demon agreed; for as long as the child’s use of his knowledge fell within acceptable bounds per the demon’s judgement, all his own secrets would become hers, and should this agreement be violated, her life would be expunged by the demon’s own hand. To seal the contract, they would grant each other a ‘name’; something symbolic of their ‘connection’. And, thus, the demon became ‘Crocell Von Einsiedel’, and the child ‘Viktoria Von Einsiedel’; the first Magi of Von Einsiedel.
However, the demon outlived the girl, and Crocell was left to honour his agreement even to the girl’s successors. Yet, with each successor, they strayed further and further to the girl’s ideal, and by extension, the original contract.
Thus, faithfully honouring his agreement, the demon destroyed Von Einsiedel without a trace.
And, now, all that was left to continue on the first and final duty of Von Einsiedel was non other than he; Crocell Von Einsiedel.
His final task.
- Height: 184 cm
Weight: 72 kg
Equipment:
- Fashionable top-hat: Rarely is he seen without the hat. It is inlaid with thaumaturgy that allows it to stick to his head even when great effort is put into removing it, and also to deliver a hefty electric shock to anyone who tries to touch the hat.
- Fancy suit: Ditto. He has like ten sets of the exact same suit. None of them are thaumaturgically enhanced.
- Monocle: Enhanced with some sort of advanced thaumaturgy that enhances his field of vision, allowing him to see outside of what his usual angle of vision allows, and can see through objects by recreating an 'augmented reality' vision with select entities removed from his sight.
- Crow: A pet, speculated to be as old as he. It can talk in brief, disjointed sentences, and its sole purpose is to fetch Crocell the newspaper. How it manages to fetch a newspaper from the present World and deliver it to the Throne of Avida, outside of conventional space and time, is beyond comprehension.
Skills:
- Oddly sociable
- Brews a killer pot of coffee (this can be literal if requested)
- Photographic memory
Abilities:
- The Philosopher's Stone [ Thaumaturgy ]: Von Einsiedel's Greater Thaumaturgy. It concerns the alteration of existing things, alchemy, and allows the user to completely change the composition of objects down to an atomic level. The user is able to immediately identify the composition of anything they gaze upon, and can just as easily turn water into wine, or the isolate the water content of a human body and then turn the other 40% that isn't water into caesium-137. With this ability, members of Von Einsiedel have complete control over the composition of any object in their line of sight, and could easily turn a battalion of opponents into solid gold in an instant.
- XXI:THE_WORLD <Of Reminiscence> [ N̵̠̻̼̐͑̚I̸͓͎̘͋̔H̸̺̻̺͒̀͝I̸͉͕̼̔͒̚L̵̪͍̻̓̿͝_̸̢̫̝̓͛̚C̸̞͍͉͛͒̾O̸̺̦̺͛̈́̔D̵͍̐͌́͜E̴͇̙̻͋́̕ ]: Though the world spins ever onward, there are always those that seek to live out in the past. The wielder gains the clairvoyance to see with perfect clarity to the ends of worlds past, and the lives of countless regressions before it. They are also able to create flawless simulacrums of objects that no longer exist, such as ancient weapons of mass destruction, to even living creatures. These simulacrums are, however, ephemeral and will quickly vanish as the World System will swiftly repair this 'error' in existence. The lifespan of these simulacrums is dependent on the amount of energy the caster expends in manifesting them.
- Hobbies:
- Reading pointless novels
- Spending time in the World as opposed to being cooped up at the Throne of Avida
Quote/s:
"Oh, Director, I am not slacking from work in the slightest! Regular breaks are essential to productivity, e-s-s-e-n-t-i-a-l, you simply must try it sometime! Can’t have the director herself collapsing from overwork now, can we?" - the Archmagus hates his guts.
"Llywellyn! Long time no see! Surely, not up to some devilish plot to overthrow and/or assassinate Lady Ainsworth and attain the majority power within the Archivists, yes? It is, after all, essential that we, the Three Magi, work in seamless harmony to further Avida's noble cause, yes?" - Not as much as the Executor, though.
"The World spins and whirls, and sputters and falls apart. We're all seemingly powerless to stop it, so why not just strap in for the ride?" - Regarding stance on Avida's goal

Lord Llywellyn
Llywellyn has never been cooperative with the other Magi. I’m afraid that their ‘ambitions’ have long become a liability to our stability. Elizabeth, Archmagus
- Name: Marianne Llywellyn
Alias/es: Lord Llywellyn, Executor
Age: Physically in early 20’s. Actual age is irrelevant at this point.
Gender: Female
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Personality: The coordinator of the Einherjar is a serene and calculating woman, though it quickly becomes apparent that this is no more than a poor mask, doing little in way of concealing Marianne's sadistic and possibly wicked nature. The Executor appears to take pleasure in giving downright inhumane orders to her subordinates, and seems to derive sadistic pleasure in watching them writhe in their own internal conflicts. Her actions always seem to be lined with some sort of malicious intent - no good deed done without motive, and no act of heroism done without intent to further her own agenda, though said 'agenda' is entirely unclear to all but Lord Llywellyn herself. - Sexuality: Asexual
Bio: - Height: 164 cm
Weight: 59 kg
Equipment:
- Gloves: They have steel lining the knuckles, and metal lining the backside of the glove. Produced of some sort of alloy modern technology is unable to replicate.
- Glock-19: Highly customized, with a gold slide and an intricate fish-bones design etched into it (she has weird tastes, yes). Even the magazines are excessively gilded, with a similar design and similarly plated with the same gold-color in some areas.
Skills:
- Exceptional in close-combat
- Accurate judge of character
- Swift & decisive with decisions and orders
- Weirdly knowledgeable on almost all of the Archivist's personnel.
Abilities:
- Providence of Reversal [ Thaumaturgy ]: The unique ability of House Llywellyn to review and rollback the World System’s changelogs, essentially messing with cause and effect. Fatal injuries can be instantly ‘healed’ as the injury had never been there in the first place, and catastrophic reactor meltdowns never occurred as the cooling system never failed. This Greater Thaumaturgy is bizarre even when compared to that of the other Magi, and only works if cast almost immediately following the event the caster wishes to tamper with.
- Physical Enhancement [ Thaumaturgy ]: Due to the unique nature of her Greater Thaumaturgy, Marianne saw it fit to master other forms of conventional thaumaturgy to cover for her reliance on a strange, and possibly unreliable ability. Her favourite application of thaumaturgy is altering the physical body to allow for far greater energy output than what is biologically possible, and making it able to absorb more energy than feasible, essentially resulting in superhuman physical abilities.
Hobbies:
- Toying with her own personnel
- Traditional board games
- Plays keyboard instruments (she owns an enormous fucking organ)
Quote/s:
“Forever-Man; I wonder, at what point did righteousness turn to anguish, and when was it that heart of justice become but a mask?” - Regarding TM-0114-DELTA: ‘Forever-Man’.
“Honestly, I’m impressed by what you managed to achieve just by reverse-engineering some shitty, half-complete thaumaturgical theory written by some senile old man with no actual idea how the World operated. If you weren’t so weirdly cooperative, I would’ve had to wipe your existence off the face of reality. Would’ve been a shame, really.” - Regarding EHJ-6453-EPSILON: ‘Angela Kircchoff’.
“I’m going to be honest, you weird me the hell out. Just… go pester Crocell or the Director, or something. No seriously, that’s an order, stop staring at me like that. Fuck, does she have a priase fetish or something-” - Regarding EHJ-9903-ZETA-THETA: ‘Linna Samthann’.
“Does anybody else find it weird that the Grand Archivist’s been there for like, god knows how many cycles, and nobody even remembers the members of House Von Einsiedel before him? No? Just me?” - Regarding Lord Von Eisiedel.
“What that naive little girl needs is therapy and/or a one-way ticket to wherever the fuck her shitty father and brother are, not the mantle of director.” - Regarding Lord Ainsworth.

The Black Serpent of Revolution
They think this is just a game. Tampering with the World and absentmindedly trampling atop countless lives for their own self-centered excuse of an 'ideal', all for their shitty self-satisfaction or less-than-noble intentions. This World may perish, but I will see to it that the World is freed from this vile 'System', one way or the other. Raidriar, Nidhogg's Ringleader
Alias/es: Successor of Ainsworth, The Black Serpent of Revolution, 'Boss'
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Personality: Raidriar's carefree and nonchalant demeanor betrays his position as the ringleader of the terrorist organization, Nidhogg. Though it often takes the combined efforts of all the 'executives' of Nidhogg to drag him off Call of Duty, his resentment of the Avida System cannot be anything but genuine, believing it to be a blasphemous construct that only keeps humanity on a leash. Whilst 'on duty', he becomes a cold, ruthless warmonger, leaving corpses piled up in skyscrapers and cities razed to the ground at his command. Despite this, he claims remorse for his actions, arguing ‘the ends justifies the means’.- Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Bio: a-
- Height: 177 cm
Weight: 89 kg
Equipment:
- Bloodied Brick: The ringleader of Nidhogg's signature weapon is, to the surprise and confusion of many, is a solid brick, caked in dark stains. It is speculated that there are thaumaturgical circuits inlaid within the brick to amplify any bludgeoning force it delivers, as a single swing of this makeshift weapon has been observed to break in the skull of a fully-equipped Einherjar member.
- .44 Magnum: A .44 Remington Magnum. It has been seen firing rounds that can pierce reinforced steel. However, contrary to what one would assume, it is actually both the gun itself, as well as the individual bullets that have thaumaturgical circuits carved within.
- Gas Mask: The Black Serpent is one that frequently uses inhumane methods to achieve his goals. The mask also serves to hide his identity.
- Snazzy Jacket: The Black Serpent is never seen without his fur-hooded jacket. It is enhanced with thaumaturgy to always maintain the perfect temperature, regardless of environment. He will not take this off, even if he is operating in the middle of the Sahara Desert. It does not have any defensive circuits as there was simply not enough space to carve in any more.
Skills:
- Exceptional schemer: Despite efforts to locate the Black Serpent and to discover his identity, even with the use of Yggdrasil, the Magi have only been lead around on a wild goose chase trying to follow the Serpent's movements.
- Melee combat: He is well-versed in close combat. His methods tend to be unorthodox, and is considered 'dishonorable' by many, but what use is honor when you're fighting your opponent to the death?
- Thoroughly understands the workings of the World System, that could even surpass veteran members of the Archivists.
Abilities:
- Thaumaturgical Deconceptualization [ Thaumaturgy ]: A bizarre ability that the Archivists still struggle to understand. It appears that the Black Serpent is able to analyse and deconstruct a spellcaster's magical formulae before they can be inputted into Yggdrasil, effectively nullifying thaumaturgy entirely. Though the Archivists have little idea how this actually works, it can be assumed that this maneuver expends incredible mental power, which makes both his response time, and his success rate of 98.7% even more disconcerting.
No matter what, for as long as Raidriar acts with clear and powerful intent, the outcome of the act will result in a favorable end for him, even if it is not immediately obvious. Therefore, as the path has already been laid out, for as long as he treads upon it, the destination is assured. However, as a novel’s protagonist dances on the author’s strings, exactly how these outcomes ‘benefit’ him, and just how the ‘predetermined end’ plays out is completely out of his control, and down to Fate's whim.
- DESREVER_LOOF_EHT:∞ [ N̵̠̻̼̐͑̚I̸͓͎̘͋̔H̸̺̻̺͒̀͝I̸͉͕̼̔͒̚L̵̪͍̻̓̿͝_̸̢̫̝̓͛̚C̸̞͍͉͛͒̾O̸̺̦̺͛̈́̔D̵͍̐͌́͜E̴͇̙̻͋́̕ ]: I have not decided what this does yet.

"We will no longer be bound by the will of a long-deceased 'God'. It is time now for mortalkind to find their own destiny, not follow the path laid by fools playing God, and suffering the consequences of their folly." - Regarding motivation
“You’ve played with trillions, quadrillions of lives like it were a game to you. What does a billion more mean to you, Avida?” - taunting the Archivists of Avida
“Noble Purpose? I see nothing but a couple of self-righteous pieces of shit jacking themselves off whilst trampling on the lives of the countless.” - he really likes talking shit to the Archivists
“We are the Black Dragon that gnaws upon the foundations of the World Tree. We are the swarm that will blacken the lands and uproot this false ‘providence’ given by God, and return mortalkind their rightful inheritance.” - a total of 2 people listened to that monologue.
