Aokawa is too practical for a kid. Most of the time, he appears uninterested and disengaged with what he is doing. He prefers sitting in the background and observing other people than to get unnecessary attention. He's strict and a perfectionist, but is most cases hardest on himself. He dislikes training but knows the importance of self-improvement, and while he expends effort to improve himself, he dislikes the idea of people seeing him struggle. Thus, he often keeps to himself. Though inherently good-natured, he has a way of sounding condescending and cocky whenever he does talk or truly speaks his mind. This makes it difficult for him to reach out to his peers and make friends. He is, in most cases, the quiet kid. For those that really know him, they'll find that he's loyal to a fault and tends to care too much, though he has difficulty in expressing it. It may be accurate to say that he hides under multiple shells. He's quite insightful and perceptive of other people despite his age. When it comes to it, Aokawa is dependable, learning and improving from his past mistakes.

Aokawa's mother died giving birth to him. And though he didn't belong to a famous or prestigious clan, Aokawa was the son of a famous ninja. His elder siblings also later became ninja of renown. Thus, Aokawa was pressured at a young age to become someone great. He's received nothing but harsh and difficult training from his strict father. Aokawa didn't respond well to the pressure and his father's ways, and this resulted in him distancing himself from his father. He found sanctuary in the company of his siblings who became the calm and gentle mentors he needed in comparison to his father. He began to develop a close relationship with his siblings and began to idolize them. With the help of his siblings, he became relatively skilled. Enough that his father eased up on him.
Because of how Aokawa was raised, he found it difficult to relate to others. So during his academy years, he barely had any friends and just followed along the crowd. At first he was awkward and quiet, before some of the other kids began to warm up to him. Still, his tendency to remain in the background remain. He was generally the amicable, quiet kid.
His grades and performance was excellent, much to the surprise of people. Many didn't know that he'd always train and study in secret so people thought of him as some genius like his father, much to his dismay. Aokawa wasn't particularly thrilled with graduation as this meant harder things to come, but he understands that this was an important start for him.
Aokawa bounced from one team to another during his early days as a genin. The only explanation he was given was to create a better balance between the teams. Somehow, this made it harder for him to fit in. Aokawa was eager to become a great ninja, something that was expected of him, but he didn't exactly know how. His inexperience showed during his first mission, and was almost killed if it wasn't for his teacher's intervention.
During the next few months, he pushed himself hard in order to avoid being a nuisance to others. Still with no clear goal in sight, he manage to progress and become a better ninja. He also started opening up to his teammates and teacher and became a little more outspoken, although blunt as always.

A short sword, slightly longer than a dagger, that once belonged to his elder brother. Its blade is purely black while the handle is red and has a golden tassel at the end. A dragon is engraved on its hand guard.
Item Name: Yashamaru
A chakra blade that belonged to his elder sister. It's blade is the opposite of Sangetsu and is as white as snow. It doesn't have a guard and has a deep blue handle with a similar dragon engraved on it.
