A sigh escaped her lips, as she wiped the sweat off her furrowed brow. It was a blistering hot day, the ground almost unbearable to travel on without footwear. What a fitting day for the atmosphere. She mocked bitterly, as she rocked forward in her saddle to signal her white donkey, Baise, to move slightly faster. It was no wonder the mood was so tense, especially not after what had happened.

Today's performance was awful, to say the least. The audience tolerated a few acts, before quickly leaving the tent, cussing beneath their breath. The few that stayed threw whatever objects they could find at the performers. It was no use trying to please a crowd which wouldn't listen, so she reluctantly ended the show early. Valora had been all over the realm, traversing to various towns and cities to perform, there had been ups and downs in her adventures, but none this appalling. Looking around, she noted the displeased performers in their respective wagons.

Each wagon was rather simple in design, made almost entirely out of wood, but with various colourful decorations stuck on the exterior of the vehicle. They could be recognized by their respective colours, crimson-red, sapphire-blue or mint-green. There was a small door leading to the drivers seat, so if they needed to, they could interact with their driver.

Malori( Abana Abana ) and Raphael( Jigoku Jigoku ) were located in the wagon she was driving, the faded paintings of stars on the side of the carriage, with a deep blue paint coat as a background. She couldn't exactly turn around to check on them, as she had a duty to keep her eyes on the road. Aurelia( LittleMissFoxy LittleMissFoxy ) and Veridio( Devious Dilbert Devious Dilbert ) were in the dark red coloured wagon, with Lucia( Kazehana Kazehana ) driving. Similarly, Flynn( LocKeii LocKeii ) was wielding the reins of the light-green wagon, with Andy( Chachalotte Chachalotte ) and Karai( Raku Raku )riding in the back.

No-one had talked for a good while now, it was a rather painful silence, if she was honest. However, the sun should go down soon, maybe her troupe would perk up a bit when they began making camp.

Malori Lane
Malori hugged herself where she sat on the floor with her back to the seat of the interior, trying to get as far from the sun as she could, willing herself to become invisible while the sun still shone brightly outside the carriage. She didn't mind the sun so much but it was hell on her eyes and she was already aggravated from earlier.

She absently rubbed her eye where one of the audience threw some kinda food at her, she still wasn't sure what it was but the smell had been horror to her heightened sense of smell. Wretched humans... maybe we were a little uncoordinated but come on who sees a circus of.... creatures.. like us everyday? We look human yes but damn them most of us aren't!! Sighing Malori grumbled under her breath. She craved the moon and stars to hurry up and kick the sun from the sky so she could relax and forget about today.

The cart bumped along the path making her grit her teeth. She hated these carts, hated that she had to ride in them during blazing heated sun was high in the sky. Usually she'd be napping but no not today because Valora insisted they leave now.

Malori glanced up at the other occupant of the cart. Raphael. He looked like a clown, she had always been fond of clowns growing up but he was one of the most peculiar. A nephilim as the circus mascot, who'd have thought that would ever come to be.

Heaving yet another sigh, still too upset about today to strike up a conversation, she closed her eyes again and buried her face against her knees.

While she never believed that splitting focus was ever wise or warranted, her left hand mindlessly spun her baton between her fingers as the right loosely held the reigns. If this isn't the perfect example of how much everything sucks, I don't know what is. Her dulled eyes remained on the road, yet her gaze couldn't be more distant from her intended target. As long as her subconscious autopilot was available, she was going to doze off just ever so lightly and shirk a few responsibilities. If the show wasn't demoralizing enough, her physical condition was enough to do the job on its own.

As far as she was concerned, she hit the major points of her routine, but it went over so poorly that she had to reconsider the flow. While it was a new work she had pieced together, there was no logical reason for her to have not received at least a neutral reception by the audience. Okay, she forgot one move before she picked up her hoop, but that wouldn't have been noticeable by the crowd. It wasn't like they had a play-by-play of what she was supposed to be doing anyway. No, while it was a mistake she took with bitter resentment, it was not the root of her issues.

The only reason she could pry her eyes open each time she blinked was the rough terrain they called a road. Not only was this her least favorite mode of travel, it was also the most annoying to suffer through. Why is everything the worst today? She tried to think of something less desirable to compare. I guess I could be competing with a clown for attention. I'm glad we don't technically have one, though Raphael isn't exactly helping. Not only that, but he's also got scary magic that would be a horrid combination with such an abhorrent role. At least Flynn isn't like that. It always gives me hope to know that I'm not part clown because of my power. She paused her train of thought momentarily to confirm with herself. And at least I'm not weird like Malori or obsessed like Andy. Aurelia might be the only one I can relate to, though even I'm not that within myself. Lucia found camaraderie with the troupe, but damn if roasting them didn't bring a glimmer to her heart. Once again, she reset her opinion of the world with crude comparisons that intentionally omitted all of her flaws.

It wasn't ethical in her opinion, but who else was going to make her feel better than herself?

If that day's performance could be summed up in a novel it would begin with terrible and end with a disaster. The crowd had absolutely loathed them; 'boo-ing' and cursing vehemently, even hurling all manners of soggy food at the performing members before inevitably vacating the premises altogether. Rude patrons and flying vegetables Flynn could handle but watching the audience slowly shrink in size as on-lookers openly disregarded his and the others hard work left a bitter taste in his mouth. The last straw had to have been the disappointed faces of the children as they were pulled out of the tent by their disgruntled guardians. In the end Ephi ( VioletShadow VioletShadow ) was forced to cut the show short due to the lack of visitors and the shift from raw baby tomatoes to very solid objects being pitched on-stage. If it hadn't been for Gams ( Jigoku Jigoku ) fast reflexes the magician had no doubt that he wouldn't have gotten off as scotch free as he had. He was just glad that both Lia ( LittleMissFoxy LittleMissFoxy ) and Mal ( Abana Abana ) were both safely on the ground by then.

While the group escaped relatively unscathed their moral took one hell of a beating. The heavy atmosphere and the unforgiving heat just added to the overall deplorable mood the troupe had been submerged in. Despite the sweltering sun Flynn refused to shed his signature jacket; opting to drape the silky material over his shoulders as he sat still and silent with both arms crossed over his lap. Meanwhile the reigns of the wagon hovered beside him in an uncharacteristic show of disregard. Anyone with eyes could see that something was wrong but those who have know him well can spot the signs of one of his legendary but thankfully sparse tantrums. They come in all shapes and sizes and this one happened to be packaged with sulk and wrapped in brooding. During one of these moods the man becomes such an insufferable, self-absorbed pessimist until either he picks himself back up or somebody else tries to tackle the challenge.

As he sat stewing not with the sun but with self pity, Flynn could barely care to notice all the tiny potholes he was hitting. Forgetting to take into account his only passenger, Andy ( Chachalotte Chachalotte ) who was more or less stuck within the confines of the green caravan as it continued its jerky trek along the progressively uneven path. At the very least the sight of Luca's ( Kazehana Kazehana ) bright red wagon in his peripheral view kept him from steering right off the road itself.

The rocking motion of the wagon had Aurelia in an almost trance like state as the echoes of booing and jeers filled her head and swirled into the terrible mood she found herself and everyone else in. The sound of people pelting the other performers with things and their feet rushing them out of the tent. A sigh heaved from her chest as she looked out to the back of the wagon and watched as the world moved past them. The steady beat of hooves and creaking, causing her already fatigued body to only feel heavier as she leaned back against the wagon.

Her muscles tense with aggravation and disappointment, she closed her eyes some and let the rocking wagon lull her into a relaxation. Sleep would evade her until she was off this rickety ride, but some rest would do her mind some good. Though the moment she closed her eyes she was back in the tent, things being lobbed at the people she knew and the angry voices made her open her eyes again. The reality of the silence that everyone was in hit her as it was a drastic difference from the sounds in her head.

Another sigh heaved out of her as she stared at the wall across from her and decided she wouldn't be the one to break the silence they were in. Everyone needed time to think and just be within themselves is what she believed, or at least she knew that is what she need. Fingers fiddling with a seam on her pants she went at it for mindless entertainment as she rocked back and fourth.

Silence captured the souls of the traveling performers, their things packed away as they moved along on a path of shame. A heavy weight could felt upon the shoulders of everyone present. Days like these were surely hard ones -- they brought self-doubt and painful emotions to the hearts of even the most hopeful of the circus. For Raphael it wasn't so upsetting, but it did ruin his day. He enjoyed watching the various acts during each show, especially when he noticed some of his peers practicing new routines. With not much excitement to be found in his day-to-day activities, the performers he wandered with became the highlight of his day.

Not much could disturb Raphael's state of mind. However, it was always most disconcerting to see Valora so bothered. He could feel the tiresome wear being put on her after showings like this past one. Since he first met that woman he could tell that she was a dreamer. No one had more faith in the potential of the circus than her, so it was the hardest for her to swallow losses like this.

Sitting closer to the front of the carriage, Raphael was bent over with his hands clasped together and his arms resting on his knees. Those golden hues he called eyes found themselves occupied with the beaten-in path ahead. It was a dirt road that only still existed because of folks like them who dragged their carts along despite how poorly kept the road was. The sun's rays only illuminated half of the man's face, the rest of his body caught in the shadows cast by the inner workings of the cart. His hair was down, dyed a reddish orange with purple highlights. His costume was still on as well as his face paint; he couldn't find the time to change between forcing rowdy audience members from the premises and packing everything up. Raphael was often in the crowd during acts, so when Valora called things off he usually handled the rest from there. He wasn't allowed to hurt anyone but that didn't matter -- scaring people was much more fun.

qxTWotx.jpg

Raphael seemed to be in his own world sitting across from Malori. His awareness was impeccable, though, and he could feel the vampiress' eyes on him. The former magician had his reasons for liking every member of the troupe, but some were more fun than others. Malori was interesting because she always took on this loner persona, but it was clear that she wanted to be accepted more than anything. He wondered just how accepted she felt even in this circus of misfits. Raphael never bothered to ask her anything in regards to it though. It was surely a sensitive subject to speak on. Instead, Raphael simply smiled. He hummed pleasantly before looking back out of the corner of his eye. As he thought, she was looking, but quickly shut herself away from the outside world.

"Hmm.. Perhaps you should rest, Valora. I can take the reigns until we stop~."

Looking back over to the ringmaster, Raphael made a suggestion in reference to the fatigue she quite clearly was experiencing. At this point in time Valora was considered family. Raphael tried his best to take care of everyone here, but the one he knew before everyone else was obviously his priority. Old age was beginning to become a factor in life for the woman as well, so it was best to prevent her from going through too much stress.

Twirling his fingers with tiny gold chains, Andy sight was locked on the tiny space he was confined in. Even if he was usually one of the most happiest person, this day had been a total disaster. He endured some of those performances but this one was one of the worst humilation experienced from him. When the silence goes even deeper, pictures from the day flooded his mind. He remembered hearing people yelling toward him when he was doing his tricks with his furry friend. Because of the objects being thrown at the animals, Andy had to interrupted the presentation. When he had leaved the scene, a chain broke between his hand. When he was nowhere to be seen from anyone, a tiny tear dropped down from his cheek.

Andy couldn't beared the fact that he was not the only one to be yelled from the public. He knew that his job and his past were rather simple compared to the other members of the circus who were extremely skills in their own domain. He considered himself as a commoner among the commoners. So why people were hating them ? He only saw flaws in himself. It was a question he could not answered by himself. He considered everyone in the circus as a friend after all the years. Altough he had to admit it, he cared more about Valora who saved him.
After a while, it was the fifth chains he broke with his hand inside the wagon in order to evacuated his tension, followed by the noisy sound of the chains falling down on the wooden ground. After that, Xí, his eagle, pricked Andy on his nose. He came back from his thought as he glanced toward Flynn who was riding and Karai sitting there before looking at Xí. Hope... He sighed before caressing Xí, having some hapiness back, a little smile forming on his lips. After all, nothing could be worse then that moment... Right ?

Karai was not happy at all. What had happened today was revolting. Their performance was horrendous. Mistakes were made, and Karai could put a few of them on him. He sat in the furthest retreats of the wagon with his head pouted. Though there was silence, Karai could still here the echoes of the crowds disappointed screams in his head. He swore that they would drive him crazy if someone didn't break the quiet with something other than the occasional sigh of sorrow. At least no one got seriously hurt, other than Andy. Karai was going to come away from this with singed fur and a down attitude.

He was about to dose of before the sound of chains hitting the floor broke the deafening silence. His head jerked up and shot to it's source. Looks like Andy is a little upset too. His eagle, Xi, seemed to want to cheer him up. Good, they could all use a pick-up, something to get their minds off of tonight's disgrace of a show. Must be nice having a friend that close. It was definitely a "different" site, a human and a bird so close. Karai let out a quiet chuckle. "You two seem close" he said from the corner. Even though he's been there for a couple months, Karai still had a good amount of information to learn from the other performers of Valora's circus

Veridio

The heat of the sun touched Veridio's skin as she basked in its glory. Nothing could please her more then the lull of natural warmth. It made her sweat, for the summer sun was indeed sweltering, but the cooling of her body mixing with the scorch of the heavens teased her face and placed her in a serene mood. From the back window of the caravan, she sat with her arms on the sill, one supporting her sleepy head and another dangling with the rhythm of the bumpy road. Shade from the caravan's bulk covered her as she rest, pondering over the show. Around her everyone else was obviously bothered. She could see it in the way that Flynn held his head down and crossed his arms and in the way that Lucia and Aurelia had blank expressions accompanied by dead eyes. As for her, she hadn't even stepped on stage for the show was stopped before it reached the second half of the performance.

Ah... well... It happens...
-She thought as the scene replayed in her head. It was a whole different experience watching from backstage. Horror and shock struck her as she was shielded by draped curtains from the trash being thrown at her performing mates.Lucky for her, she didn't have to live through the debilitating embarrassment of having an audience turn their back on her and walk away.

Flynn's wagon was trailing right behind hers. And from her seat at the window she watched him with eyes full of sympathy. Unfortunately, Flynn had lived through the embarrassment. And she could see that it was eating at him. She laid her head to its side, staring at him. Her heart ached, but perhaps it was best to give the man space. Though, her desire to comfort him was strong like a mother's instinctual effort to give affection to her lonely child. If only she knew what to say to him...

Behind him, she peered into the window of his wagon. There she could see the vague outlines of Andy and Karai. With her heart heavy, she stared at them as well. But her eyes returned to Flynn and she thought of times where the two of them sat and laughed together inside a candlelit tent. She remembered a day in the fall where they were both caught in heavy rain returning from the market. Their luck had them stay at an inn until the weather passed. And when it did, they both begged on their knees for Valora's forgiveness when they had delayed the troupe's departure. Now, instead of the happy-go-lucky friend from her memories, here he sat distressed and utterly crushed in spirit. But she knew that this would pass, perhaps soon even, as Flynn always swung back around from these moments. Still. This was the first time that an audience had so blatantly disrespected Flynn and to his face too. Never before had their viewers refused to stay for a show in the four years that she had traveled with this group. It must be harder on him then she could imagine, she thought. It must be difficult for everyone.

She sat up. At last, she called out to him.
"Flynn," She said, raising her voice slightly over the noise of turning wheels and animal hooves.

"You don't need to worry about it Raph." She smiled slightly, as she drove by the unkempt flora on the roadside. Her eyes were lowered unnaturally, proof of her rather downcast emotions. "Look. The clearing is on the horizon." She added, her voice slightly raspy, as she took a sip out of her waterskin. The water wasn't as blissfully as cool as she'd have liked, the liquid distastefully warm within her mouth. Her ears heard little murmurs from the wagons behind her, and she was happy to hear that the silence had been broken somewhat. Hopefully in a positive way. She thought quietly. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a few shattered signs here and there within the trees surrounding the pathway, but she didn't think much of it, as her mind was preoccupied.

Her mind was filled with thoughts on reaching her hometown the next morning, and to visit the grave of her loved one. She knew that reminiscing about her past with him would surely lift her spirits. Unconsciously she smiled as the thought of him, as she caressed her donkey's head. Baise's mother was with them then. The golden trimmings on her clothing shone in the dissapitating sunlight, as she cuddled her old violet shawl into her chest. She sped up slightly, as her excitement began to take over her, through the unkept road which, to be honest, she had never travelled through before. All she knew, was that it was a faster route. She felt confident in her decision anyway, as she could see the very tip of the clock tower of her hometown, and she hadn't even journeyed for that long yet.

Wiping the sweat off her forehead, she slowed down her old companion as she located a rather pleasant clearing to rest in. It was a wide grove, with a lovely view of the sky. Perhaps it was used as a picnic attraction in the past, as clear earth where benches were presumably placed were present in the area. The sun began to lower, as streaks of beautiful sunset hues covered the scene. For a moment, Valora simply appreciated the natural beauty before her, as her mount slowed from a trot to a walk. The temperature didn't drop as much as she'd have liked, however.

With a bray, Baise halted completely, in the center of the clearing. She appeared unusually skittish for such a warm evening, as typically she lies down immediately after a journey in such weather. After patting her donkey comfortingly, Valora began to set camp for the night. "We're here." She smiled as she called out. Her voice didn't need to be projected to reach a loud volume, usually it was keeping her voice down which was the problem.

If they had to, the circus troupe could all sleep in their respective wagons, but usually the tents stored in the back let them sleep with a bit more privacy, despite being on the earth. Since she was less, able, than the rest of the troupe, despite not particularly liking admitting that fact, due to her unusual pride, she slept in the wagon. That didn't stop her from helping her fellow troupe members set up though. With a heave, she pulled out a tent from the back of the starry blue wagon, which shimmered unusually brightly in the growing darkness.

Malori Lane
Hearing Valora say they had arrived and the cart dipping slightly as the ringleader stepped down, Malori's ears instantly tuned in to hear the insects scurry within the vegetation outside the cart. "Finally", Malori murmured and slid her hands up to cover her eyes from the sun. She hoped the sun would hurry up and drift below the horizon so that she could see clearer instead of having to endure this hazy sight.
IMG_1799.PNG

She stood just as Valora reached up to pull out a tent from the cart. Walking forward she leaned down to jump to the ground, her bared toes curling into the soil and grass. Smiling to herself, she looked back to Raphael ( Jigoku Jigoku ) traces of the smile in her eyes. She was happy to finally be out of the cart though the sun was still out she wouldn't let that dim her excitement.

She would need to feed tonight so that she'd be at 100% if she was going to practice her routines tomorrow if not tonight. Normally she would hunt small animals once every few days seeing as she was only a halfling she didn't need to hunt as often as a full fledged.
tumblr_nad6vgF6kp1rfjroho1_500.jpg

Taking a deep breathe she grabbed some ropes to help set up tents with the rest of the troupe. The faster the tents were put up the faster she could go out to hunt. She also wanted to explore her surroundings and get to know the layout of the land before nightfall. When night arrived, she would probably count the stars before doing some exercises.

The ride was by far the most boring task she'd had the misfortune of taking for at least a week. Perhaps it was the quiet attribution the failed show had cursed upon them, but her internal motivation hardly spared her a second glance. Just as soon as Valora declared their arrival, Lucia's body tugged off of the wagon and straight into the grass that offered to cradle her face. She wasn't particularly tired yet, but the rickety motion associated with the wagon could never compare to the sturdy, malleable earth below her.

Lucia's top priority by no means lied with a sheet of fabric. If she retired before she was able to pitch a tent, so be it. It wasn't like she anticipated any sort of rain, and the wind was hardly a bother on such a toasty night. All she wanted was a cover for comfort and something soft on which to rest her head. The rest could be left up to chance or fate or karma or whatever it was that guided her flip of a coin decisions.

Once she had gained her composure, she returned to the cart and ransacked it for relevant materials. For some light practice, a pair of hoops and a trio of batons were necessary. Once acquired, she set her sights on a nice aerobic session of practice. Nothing else could be deemed pertinent enough for her to require her attention, and everyone else was likely to have business calling. She didn't want to discuss any matter of that day, and she wasn't going to put herself in a compromising position that required her to do so.

With the hoops spread apart and the extra batons at either side, she took a deep breath and assumed a suitable pose. Without hesitation, she began spinning, simplistic in style initially, but transitioning into real work once she warmed up. She did so for a short time before adding another one with her free hand. While she was more restricted with both hands occupied, she liked to toss one up while simultaneously passing the other around until it returned to her.

This seemed like the best use of her time, especially since conversation could easily prove undesirable in such circumstances. Of course, she was by no means committed to the exercise and would alter her plans on a whim if needed elsewhere.

As time passed so did the enduring silence. A light chatter managed to filter through the troupe, gradually alleviating the somber ambience and easing the heavy hearted. Preoccupied with his own brooding Flynn remained despondent, his senses dulled as his thoughts happily swirled with personal dejection. It was then that a familiar voice, both cool and warm like a summer breeze rushed over him. Lush greenery and cerulean skies converged as the magician locked eyes with Veri, the circus’ Green Woman and his close companion. The meeting was brief however as he noticed in the same instance that the red caravan had come to a stop. With swift hands he gave the reigns a jerk, halting his own advance just in time to prevent a collision. The stop had been clean but to both Veri and Flynn and anyone else observant enough, would have noticed the startled expression flash briefly in his wide eyes. Just as soon as the shock came it faded straight into a grin as the culprit in question laughed openly at his own near-blunder. It wasn't the first time his sulking had resulted in similar incidences sobering his awareness enough to push what good spirits he had to the surface, if only to assure his friend.

Making sure the reigns were tightly fastened, he ascended onto the verdant ground. He hadn't really noticed it before but as the sun dipped ever lower into the waiting horizon he could feel the heat of the day rising from his body and up into the multi-colored clouds. Perspiration was the least of his concerns although it did prompt him to shrug off his coat and tie it loosely around his waist. Just as he tucked the right sleeve into place he reached Veri’s perch.

“May I offer a hand?” It wasn’t as if Flynn was formally suave but he’s learned over the years that with Veri, ‘Need a hand’ never really worked. Nevertheless he extended his out in invitation, knowing perfectly well that she was capable enough to vault herself out of the caravan window.

Meanwhile in his peripheral view he could see their team captain valiantly struggling with one of the many colorful lodging tents. With a flick of his hand the heavy canvas lightened significantly until it weighed no more than a candied apple. The rest began to wiggle strangely as they slid one by one from the wagon, hopping onto the ground like frogs as they stood single file behind Valora, ready to follow the leader.

Nothing felt better than for the wagon to finally stop moving, she heard people talking and this lifted her spirit a little as she thought it would be better once camp was set up. As the wagon settled Aurelia dug around until she finally found one of the tents that needed to be set up, tucking the thing beneath her arm she squeezed out the back of the wagon and landed on the ground with a gentle thud.

The warm sun beat down on her as she stretched out her back a little bit and now smiled as she everyone was going about their business. Though the meadow was large she tucked herself into the back of it, closer to the trees as she started to unfold and fight with the ropes of the tent. Rope was her thing, walking on it anyway, in other capacities not so much.

The sound of the tents moving on their own grabbed her attention as she smiled a little bit at this, though she knew that some people in the troupe were capable of things that others weren't she had a few tricks up her sleeves as well though she didn't really show them to anyone.

Though the task at hand seemed to pull her attention back she lifted her head every so often to check out the meadow they were in. Pulling poles together and laying the canvas out, she began to hum to herself believing everyone else would be to far away from her to hear it. As the tent came together she was proud that she managed to do it, but quickly dismissed this and walked over towards the Ringmistress. "Allow me to help you Valora." ( VioletShadow VioletShadow ) She spoke softly as she grabbed one of the many lined up tents and began working on it next.

A pair of golden eyes caught only the silhouette of an elderly woman in their gaze, her elevated figure blocking the rays of the falling sun as her donkey trotted along underneath her. Raphael smiled as well, knowing he had, at the least, lightened Valora's mood just a bit. Stubborn as she was when it came to taking on assistance, it seemed to please her to know that everyone was always so willing to lend a hand.

A curious, low, hum followed the exchange between Valora and the Nephilim tucked away into the cart she drove. The change of pace, contrary to what one might expect, signaled that their journey was coming to an end. It wasn't often that they sped up for the final stretch into town. Rather, they were just making some extra ground before they would finally settle. Once the blue carriage came to a stop, Raphael allowed his companion to disembark. His gaze followed her the entire way out, even catching her eyes on a glance back. The pale-skinned male rose to his feet and quickly followed, his feet dropping to the Earth with a quiet thud.

3667002-anime-scenery-wallpaper.jpg

Standing in the shadow cast by the branches and leaves of a tree beside him, Raphael looked around the clearing which would soon be turned into a campsite. From Lucia's initiation of a practice routine to Flynn's chivalry in the distance, Raphael was aware of every step. As per usual, the man started off away from the group, stepping into the sunlight and stopping a few feet off from where he had started before looking up to the heavens. Surely the most questionable character among the troupe, no one could predict what Raphael would be up to when night fell. He never set up a tent for himself, he never ate dinner, and sometimes he disappeared completely during the night -- without a single trace. It was impossible to tell what he was doing on nights like that, but it must have been unsettling for those that were already a little intimidated by him. On the nights he did stick around, Raphael either stored himself back into one of the circus wagons or simply sat up to watch the night pass him by. He didn't exactly need to sleep, but that made his actions no less strange. Regardless, those who had spent their sleepless nights with Raphael in the past discovered that he was quite the conversationalist. He was no more strange than a man who spoke to a bird, was he?

In the distance, Raphael observed the clock tower which Valora had noticed just moments prior. Judging the distance based on how much he could see sticking out over the trees, he could conclude that the town was quite close. It might be fun to go pay the night life there a visit, but Raphael had a responsibility just behind him.

"Hmmn. Next time~."

Raphael resigned to taking care of his duties for the night. He wasn't very familiar with this place that their Ringmistress had led them to, so it might be best to stand guard anyway; no road was so safe. There was a sort of dangerous grin on Raphael's face at that point, signifying plans that may have been sinister for the night. It faded as he turned around though, a disappointed exhale coming after a final decision was made. Passing by Aurelia, Raphael made his way over the cart which Flynn had been driving. He was always an interesting one to strike up conversation with and, from the looks of things, the group over there had not yet started with setting up for the night. Raphael could help accelerate the process for them at the least.

"Perhaps you can teach me a few spells while you're also handing out lessons on how to be a gentleman."

Nimble as ever, Raphael appeared without a hint to his approach. Perhaps Veridio would have seen the half-breed coming before he could make it, but that was all that might give him away. A fox-like grin shaped the countenance of the newcomer to the interaction, his words genuine yet playful.

"I could settle for just pitching a tent or a two with you, though~."

A bit of teasing couldn't hurt the mood at this point, especially when spoken with such pure warmth. His speech was directed towards the magician, but that didn't stop Raphael from glancing over to the green-haired woman and offering her a wink of acknowledgment as he spoke.

After Andy caressed Xí several time, the eagle looked at Karai, squeaking in his direction as an agreement with what he had said. What was interesting with Xí was that his squealed wasn't unpleasant to hear at all but rather calming. From what he knows, Karai was the newest member in the circus group. However, it was sure that he was talented from what he saw during the acts. His magic based on fire was really catching the attention of the public and he also looked really young. Andy didn't have spended much time with him over the past month, and that why he didn't knew more about him.

"Yes, we are." He said glancing over him. It was a simple answered but yet it warmed his heart. Finally letting slipped out some words after a day like this was an achievement.
Xí catched his upper clothes with his beak as they had reached their destination with Flynn leaving the wagon. He heard Valora voice as he got up. Looks like we have some work to do. He stood up looking outside for several seconds at the flying tents and the outside world he was in. The tents tricks surprised him the first time but he got used to it. "I'm going outside. I need some fresh air." He said before leaving the wagon with Xí, glancing over Karai. It was up for him to follow them. The sun deeply hit him when his foots reached the ground. Trying to adapt as much as possible at this hard climate he moved toward Valora and Aurelia, each footsteps hitting more and more. He tried to smile despise the heavy mood he was still carried on. "Let me lay a hand." He said to the two before using his own chains in order to maintain the tents before placing them with Xí squeaking on the top of a tent, like a leader giving orders toward Andy. He used to place the tents a lot afterall.

Tomorrow will be a better day.

Veridio

Veridio gave him a half-smile, furrowing an eyebrow and cocking her head as if she were to deliver a sarcastic comment, but she remained silent. Inside the caravan was dark, but she could still unlock the metal hinges that kept the back door closed. As it swung open, cool air of a dying sun greeted her senses. The silken drapes of her costume did little to cover her body, making the rush of the breeze a little too sudden.
She locked eyes with Flynn. LocKeii LocKeii
"My, my. What a gentleman," She replied to his gesture with a tone as pert and smooth as the near-perfect blending of colors left by the setting sun. Her teasing was so often that Flynn knew better than to believe it- yet it didn't stop her from trying her best to fool him. She took his hand and carefully stepped down to the crisp grass. Her movements weren't exactly graceful, but there was no need to be at a time of rest.

Flynn threw some spice in of his own, showing off his magic blatantly like a gold, glittering trophy as he easily manipulated the physics of the camp supplies, bending their weights and movements to his will with a practice of telekinesis. Nevertheless, if there were trophies handed to the best magicians around, Flynn would definitely win the biggest and shiniest. In Veri's eyes, he was almost a grand master in the art of magic. The only thing he lacked was age. He was two years younger than her, meaning that it was especially fun to show him her flirty side. But what made it most enjoyable was that there was a mutual understanding between the both of them that she was only joking.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a familiar face appear from a cloud of mist, it looked like. Approaching came a tall man with more height and presence than Flynn, but it was particularly his flamboyant personality that he was most famous among the troupe for. Jigoku Jigoku
"Perhaps you can teach me a few spells while you're also handing out lessons on how to be a gentleman," Said the man to Flynn, presented and dressed in none other than a unique style of his own. Veri always admired his eccentricity even if she never quite understood it. Nor himself, anyway, but that was perhaps just the thing that gave Raphael his charm.
"I could settle for just pitching a tent or a two with you, though~," He said, tossing a quick wink her way, but remaining engaged with Flynn.
"Well then you boys have fun~" Veridio returned his wink right back and lightly flipped her elegant hair, ruffling her gentle waves.
It already looked like Valora was getting all the help that she needed from Flynn and friends. It also seemed that there wasn't a need for assistance anywhere on the campsite. That meant that she had a load of free time before turning in for the night. Since just about everyone preferred to set up their own tents, Veridio usually defaulted to sleeping in an empty caravan. In her opinion, it was much more secure and sheltered. And there was also a lock. That sealed the deal for her over the primitive tents that the troupe carried.
Since she wouldn't stay if she wasn't needed, she simply said, "See you both in a bit," and then turned to strut away towards the emerald forest.

The woods at night were a wonder. After walking for a while through the forest in the dimming light, Veridio concluded that this was the perfect place to retreat from her circle-mates. Being with them for days at a time proved to be exhausting. Not only physically, but mentally. Although Veridio had been traveling with these people for four years, many of the groupies were still just acquaintances to her. And she found this to be strange... for not only did the group sometimes treat her with indifference, but they also did it to each other.
Alas, after so long, she had just come to conclude that it was only in fiction that wandering circus rings substituted each other for family. She couldn't deny, however, that she still held onto her expectations.

Perhaps she was still homesick. Nights like these had her thinking of the daughters that she left behind.

Karai was surprised by Xi's squeak. It almost seemed as if he was agreeing with him. It was nice to see man and nature so close. Karai's head went back to a pout as the silence returned for a brief moment. In that moment of silence, Karai's head once again filled with the boos of the crowd. Why must he grip onto the past in such way? Why was it the negatives he held onto the most? Karai was on the verge of tears. Luckily, the convoy's halt had stopped him from crying. He was ready to rest after such a day.

As Andy had left, Karai arose from his seat in the corner sluggishly. A breath of fresh air is what he needed as well. With a roll of his shoulders and a gentle sigh he moved closer to the door of the wagon. If there was anything he was more excited about than performing, it was the forest. He was born and raised there, so it was an obvious reason. He moved out of the wagon. The pads of his paws hit the dirt after he stepped down. It may have not been to anyone else but where they were was beautiful to him. He saw as his fellow troupe was conversing with one another. His eyes fell onto the small group around a tent as they were setting it up. Might as well help. Could bring your cheers up Karai he thought as he moved closer to them. "Mind if I assist?" he said as he joined in on setting up the tent with the most of the troupe.

The soft clink of an unlatched lock was the only forewarning given before the caravan door opened in a flurry of jade hues and sheer fabric. An eye full of Veri’s orange tinged attire lifting with the breeze had Flynn averting his eyes out of both instinct and just plain courtesy. In the past he might’ve matched the same shade as the setting sun but as with the teasing he had grown to adapt. His gaze returned as he felt the warmth of a palm briefly meet his own. “Only the best for your highness.” He playfully added, slipping into their familiar banter with ease. It was a pleasant form of distraction as he diverted his full attention to the present and away from his less than cheerful thoughts. Unfortunately that made him rather vulnerable to surprises evident by a sharp inhale of breath at Raphs unexpected appearance.

He coughed weakly in a poor attempt to cover his uncharacteristic reaction. In the end he was saved by Veri’s well-timed inputs. The exchange between them was like watching a fox and a lion dancing around one another with double edged words and lilting phrases. Of course he was by no means innocent to their connotations just as he was well aware where reality and jokes met and ended. Albeit diluted significantly by his own brand of repartee both of their influences we’re becoming more prominent in his speech although unbeknownst to the young man. This dance proved to be brief as she announced her leave moments later, stating her future return before she headed in the direction of the surrounding woods.

“Stay safe!” Flynn called as he turned to address the tent volunteers comprised of both Valora, Aurelia, Andy with the edition of their newest troupe member, Karai. The day had been draining and he didn’t blame the others for wanting to rest but this was a slightly disappointing outcome. Perhaps he’s been spoiling them too much with his quick fixes. Rolling up his sleeves, he decided a bit of manual labor wouldn’t hurt before glancing back at Raph.

“A hand to pitch these tents and you can have me all night.” He stated in such a frank delivery and open grin that it was almost painfully obvious how oblivious he was to his own words. An unprecedented side effect to his accumulated immunity to flirtatious teasing is apparently a backwards filter. At the very least these little indiscretions presented themselves in infrequent patterns which to be honest isn’t necessarily a good thing. In any case in Flynn’s mind he was lightheartedly proposing for some help in exchange for one of their ever lively magic sessions that almost always kept the young magician up until the first rays of sunlight. Not that the man needed the motivation as Raph was known to lend a hand whenever it concerned the ringleader.

Just as her arms began to strain from the weight of the bundled-up tent, it's weight suddenly shifted to as light as a feather. The extra equipment needed to set up the tent fully magically lined up behind her, as they slid out of the wagon in one smooth motion. Her face was speechless for just a moment, before she looked over to Flynn with a smile. "Thank you m'dear. Your abilities are awfully useful in times like this." As she walked over towards a relatively flat clearing, a soft voice caught her attention. Looking over to her left, her lips pursed into another warm smile. "Ah, thank you Aurelia." Just as she began setting up the tent, the poles making a sturdy foundation, she noticed two pairs of extra hands begin to aid her. One orange and furry, the other perfectly human. With a chuckle, she addressed them in a kind voice. "Thank you, all, but we really don't need this many people to set up one tent." She shook her head as a wide smile stretched across her face.
It seems everyone's getting along. She thought to herself, with a quick glance towards the scene with Flynn, Veridio and Raphael.

In practically no time at all, the tent was set up and ready for someone to claim. With a nod and a smile of appreciation towards her helpers, she looked up as the night began to dominate the sky, the small streaks of orange quickly swallowed up by the darkness. It was a rather ominous scene, as her facial expression fell slightly, worried about whether this could be a bad omen. Either way, she decided to retire to her midnight-blue wagon, as she tightened her glittery shawl around her shoulders. The temperature was beginning to drop rapidly, and since it was a significant difference to the blistering heat earlier, her body was struggling to readjust. "Good night all, I'm sure our next performance will do much better." She spoke in her usual kind tone, her words spreading far across each of the wagons. With a small cough, she closed the delicately decorated door behind her.

The interior was equally as cold as the exterior, however, there were multiple blankets stashed away in the back. Walking over swiftly, she pulled out one of the thicker ones, and made her way over to the small structure she's slept in for the past few years. It was relatively cozy, albeit quite cramped, but a comforting place to come back to nonetheless. In a few swift motions, she began wearing her thick silver nightgown, in preparation for a further temperature drop. Cautiously, she tidied herself into her bed, and fell into a deep sleep, cuddling the blanket she'd recovered from the back of her vehicle.

Malori Lane

She watched the others from a distance, yearning to join them but she wasn't sure how others would treat her. Raphael was different because he was the goofy one and the charmer of their group, Veridio was a flirt but even if Malori went that way she wouldn't have any interest in that one let alone any interest in talking to her as a friend. Flynn, Andy, and Karai were sweet but too.... something... she couldn't put her finger on it just yet. Aurelia and Lucia seemed too interested in perfecting their routines to bother talking to anyone but maybe next time she could try to approach them.

Stretching her arms above her head she backed away into the glorious shadows of the trees. Thank god the sun has gone away for the day, now I can see clearly. Her sight had indeed gotten better because now she could see every fine detail among the wildlife. A dragonfly buzzed by her ear making her smile, she was born for the night.
IMG_1808.JPG

Making sure to keep the troupe within ear distance, she was able to keep a distance from the circus and hear it better than humans. She bent down and began stretching her body with a bit of yoga to loosen her muscles that had become tense since the cart ride. Stretching her hands out to her toes, she rolled her head giving a small shiver when her neck popped.

"I'll go back to the campsite and do some jumping after looking at the stars and listening to the night a bit longer." After mumbling this, Malori fell back and curled her arms under her head looking out at the sky.

Nothing fazed her as she lashed out her frustrations into her technique. There was nothing quite like a nice break from traveling to diffuse the fire that broiled within. Even when the sun reserved its energy for the new day, Lucia retained her tempo, only stopping when the baton she could not see clearly hit her on the head. At that moment, she took a few seconds to mentally distance herself from the routine, processing the end of her session.

Everyone seemed to be doing what they did best, whether it be chatting or working or simply being alone. Sometimes, she wondered what it was like to be alone with others. If she weren't so poor at confrontation, this would have never been a mystery to her. But instead, she resigned to her estranged status among the troupe's reputation.

To Lucia, this was fine considering how harsh they could have been considering her flawed routine and inability to perform anything particularly spectacular. If she could perfect her port with various items, she could finally offer what the rest of the troupe already provided: extraordinary displays that whir the mind. Her extra little 'something' was all she needed to get down in order to fit in, but creating a new set of moves to incorporate after many years of consistency would prove difficult. Someday, she told herself as she glanced at the large group. Everyone had their problems, but Lucia couldn't get past her own no matter how hard she tried. Besides, Veridio was sure to put in a disdainful word for her already; that much she could bet.

She slunk away from her post briefly to procure a blanket and pillow for her night under the stars. As she laid out her sleeping arrangements, a movement in the dark caught her attention briefly, sending her on high alert. After realizing that it was very likely Malori, she quickly ignored the ominous sensation and returned to her work. Despite the ideal atmosphere, her recent activity made her unable to achieve a desire to sleep, she she instead sat up with her arms wrapped loosely around her knees and looked into the darkness, waiting for something but hardly knowing what.

Aurelia Florentina
Aurealia looked at the group that had surrounded them to offer help as she still assisted but pulled away shortly after the tent was finished, she slipped back towards the tent in the back and yawned a little. A hand rubbing at her tired eyes as she looked at up at the night sky, a smile crossing her face as she had always enjoyed the night and the darkness that filled it. Her hues landed at the tall tree just behind her tent as she ran up and grabbed the edge of it, climbing up to a higher up branch and holding on as she pulled herself up. After finding the best branch with a view of the sky she settled in against the tree and stared up at the stars, humming softly again.

The cool night breeze rolled over her as she looked down and saw everyone doing their own things, a small smiled still fixated on her lips as she enjoyed being with the troupe. Though they didn't keep her attention long as she looked back up at the night sky and sighed a little, her eyes growing heavy as she sat there. The wind rustling the leaves behind her had her feeling even more tired as she stretched out a little bit and hooked her leg around the branch to secure herself to it. Heights were never a thing that bothered her so a small snooze up in the trees could be refreshing, eyes growing heavy she was asleep before she could even stop humming.

Andy Bones
Andy awakening
Within a minute after he arrived with Karai, the tent was already done. Sneakily, Xi had fled away from the scene. Usually, Andy would have slept in the tent. But he knew that tonight it wouldn't worked out because the outside was just too beautiful to not let be observed at. Furthermore, his mood was still questionable despise the fact he had calmed down a little bit from before. If he wasn't circled with the group and the animals he liked, he probably would have knock out down several objects in order to released the rage he was holding deep inside him. He didn't wanted to be and acted like his teenage years. After sawing Valora heading away with her cheering sentence, he waved at her before looking at Karai and Aurelia. "I'm going to feed the beasts. Have a good night." He said with a smile before walking away from them in the direction of the cages, holding his own arms as the temperature got abruptly low.

Here, he directly fed each beasts that were present. He did it with such subtle delicateness that the tension inside him almost fade away during that short time. But every good moments have an end. After glancing toward the cages, he leaved that place in the direction of the wood. He did remarked that Xi wasn't here and he knew that she was probably staring at the sky. After a moment, he found out where Xi was as he sit down next toward her. Instead of usually, the eagle stared at the sky without any words. Andy did the same and cut out the silence in his mind. "It's almost feels like Xi is searching for something there... What could it be? I know that she is different compared to the other animals." After a while, his eyes slowly started to closed, going in the arms of Morpheus.

I have awoken from my coma years ago. But what would happen if i was left alone all again? I'm going to explode my limits next time. I promised it, Father.
