Alex is very analytical. He values gaining knowledge most, and will use whatever knowledge he gains to his advantage. He detests being in the dark about situations, and if it comes to it, will turn on others, even his allies. Alex is not one to rush blindly into a situation, and will always formulate a plan before. However, Alex is no stranger to improvising, and can do so with skill on the spot. Unfortunately, Alex can be lured very easily using his thirst to knowledge. He is not easy to trust anyone.
Backstory:
Alex does not remember his parents. He grew up on the streets. Unfortunately, he was not large or strong enough to make a living out of toughing people into giving him their money, so he resorted to simply stealing. One night, Alex decided to flee the somewhat large hamlet on who's streets he grew up on. He fled into the dense forest surrounding the hamlet. There, he wandered around. The woods were large, with numerous trees and animals. For a period of time, Alex was hungry, and the food he was able to gather was nowhere near satisfying. However, he continued to wander around, hoping to find something. One night, on a full moon, Alex stumbled upon a clearing. Inside the clearing was the ruins of what appeared to be an ancient monastery. Alex took shelter in the monastery, and found numerous supplies locked away in its subterranean rooms. Exploring further, Alex also discovered the monastery's massive library, and a series of stairs that led to an exposed platform on the monastery's top. It was here that Alex settle down, and it was here that Alex began to learn his abilities.
In the Monastery, Alex began to hone his own abilities. He also began to look through the Monastery's literary collection. Somehow, maybe due to the skill of the authors, Alex was able to understand the ancient text. It seemed to Alex that as he looked over the ancient symbols meticulously written on the pages, their meanings manifested in his mind. And so it was here that Alex began to learn about the history of this world, and it was here that his thirst for more knowledge was born. Occasionally, will exit the monastery. The reasons for this vary. Sometimes Alex intends to gather from the forest, other times, he just wants to practice in the "relatively" open air of the forest. These excursions always occur at nighttime, and on quite a few occasions, Alex will have wandered far enough to be quickly spotted by other people. These sightings have made him into some sort of local legend in the surrounding villages.

Techniques:
Incorporeal Form - Alex is able to turn himself into a shadowy, vapor-like, form. In this form, he is essentially unaffected by physical attacks. Although maintaining this form is not particularly draining for Alex, attempts to interact with real, physical, objects in this form require a large amount of willpower and concentration from him. Alex has developed this skill to the point where he can quickly shift in and out of this form.
Doppelgänger - Alex manipulates the shadows in order to create physical copies of himself. Usually, these copies are physical, and can physically interact with others. Alex can summon multiple copies, and can "transfer" himself into one of his copies, leaving the original body as another copy. When these copies are "killed", they will disappear into black vapor. However, in bright lighting, the copies' strength is diminished, and they appear slightly transparent, as opposed to the real Alex. Also, Alex must use a significant amount of focus to create and control his copies, with the amount of focus required scaling exponentially as more and more copies are created.
Self-Heal - In the right environment, Alex can enter his corporeal form and use the surrounding darkness to heal any wounds he has. This process is painful, and essentially reverses the pain that was felt with the injury. Alex must be conscious in order to do this, and obviously, it requires a dark environment. The self-heal can only heal non-mortal wounds, and is nullified by poison of any sorts.
Shadow Incorporation: Alex has the ability to "fall into" nearby shadows, effectively disappearing into them. He can then pop out of any other shadow nearby.
Weaknesses:
Alex's main weakness is his dependence on dark environments. The availability of light is what makes him or breaks him. Bright lighting and lack of dark spaces and shadows can effectively nullify most of his powers.
Alex's desires are what drives him. As a result, people can manipulate these desires to effectively manipulate him.
As Alex's abilities are dependent on his focus, he can be caught off guard whenever he uses them.
Weapons:
Grayson: A single-edged falchion. This is his primary combat weapon
Outside of direct combat, Alex uses two knives, sometimes dual-wielding them at the same time.
