The day was not very young in Equestria. It was nearly evening, when the fun began in town. The sun was setting, streetlamps being illuminated with candles, and every pony was happy, going along with their everyday night lives without fail. Well, almost everybody was happy.

Princess Cinder, the middle sister of the ruling three, did not quite fit the requirements to be considered as such. 'Twas rather the opposite, in fact. The fiery haired royal's mood seemed to be in a very dark place at the moment.

"Cinder"
Celestia said with a sigh, closing her eyes in mild annoyance as she tiled to look up at her younger-and much taller- sister. "You need to get out of the palace. Go have some fun, rather than absorbing yourself into your work. Training with the guards may wait."

Cinder sighed, closing her own eyes and letting out a low growl, expressing the building anger inside of her, before speaking in a low voice. "Celestia, allow me to inquire of something I've been wondering for quite some time now. Do you even remember what I've gone through lately? If you don't, please remember that my fiancé is dead. He has been, and I don't have the desire or time to socialize. So my answer is no. "

The tall mare turned, her long tail floating behind her, moving and reflecting colors like flame. She released an irritated huff of air before beginning to walk off.

Her path was cut off by a sudden blue of white and rainbow. Her elder sister had just blocked her path. Her only path back to her personal quarters. "I didn't want to do this, but I suppose I have to. Onyx, Astral. Please escort my dearest sister to town, and do not allow her back until nightfall."

"You wouldn't dare-"

"I just did. Now, go. You have a concert in town to attend. It was supposed to be me attending, but you need go. You have to keep up appearances, now. Off you go. You be safe, and HAVE FUN!"

The elder white mare gave an innocent and caring smile that made Cinder simply want to vomit. Oh, how sweet her sister could be. It made her sick.

You see, Cinder was notorious for being a rather bitter recluse. She rarely ever emerged from the palace walls unless it was to assist in training the guard.

She was also notorious for being very stern and hard. Unlike her sister, there wasn't much room for forgiveness in her heart.

Many said that once, there was more love in her heart than in all of Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy combined. But everything has changed when her fiancé, an officer in the Royal Guard, had passed away only days before their wedding.

But that was only a story, right? Nobody could ever go from kind to cold that quickly. Surely it was a myth, and there was no stallion ever involved with her. But it was a story everyone knew.

After the brief stare down with her sister, Cinder glared and turned to follow the guards. The two black and grey stallions bowed to her, proceeding to then straighten up and lead the way.

As they walked outside, the princess unfolded a pair of long, gorgeous brick-colored wings that appeared charred at the ends.

Stopping outside, the princess looked at her guards, who simply nodded as if to acknowledge her choice. Neither of them could fly, but they could run fast enough to keep up.

Shoving her wings down quickly, Cinder launched herself into the air. Floating for just a minute, she then shot off, her guards running after her.

Only at the town's limits did the princess come down to land. She shook her head, fixing her long mane, and reached up to adjust the gold crown studded with Onyx and Ruby colored gems that sat atop her head, only outshone by the long, pointed horn that sat directly before it.

Holding her head up high, Cinder walked through the town center, nodding politely at the ponies that stopped and bowed to her, offering a small smile to a group of foals that stared at her in awe.

As she left them behind, the smile faded back into her neutral expression. The guards sighed inwardly, hoping that the young woman would remain in what at least appeared to be a decent mood.

As they entered the concert hall, the whispers began. Many a pony, after rising from their bows, began to quietly wonder aloud why Celestial was not there, and others began to whisper rumors of the story everyone knew.

A stagehand had poked his head out from behind the curtain when the commotion arose, and was in awe herself of what she saw.

Turning around, she ran back towards the dressing room, pushing through technicians and other workers as she continued on her path.

Frantically, she bust into the room where the night's performer, Silver Bass, was currently waiting to go on.

"Silver Bass! The Princess is here. But it's not Celestia!"

She was out of breath, that much was clear. But why was she running to announce that Luna was there, some stagehands wondered from in the hall. She always came in place of Celestial if possible.

"It's Princess Cinder!"

The light pink pony couldn't contain his excitement as he sat in front of the mirror of his dressing room while several ponies attended to his every need.

They needed everything to be perfect because tonight was Silver Bass first real concert. Sure, he sang in restaurants and occasionally in the street, but this was a huge step up compared to that.

All of this was thanks to Silver's Agent for being there throughout the journey. Some may even say Silver was even dependent since, without his Agent, he wouldn't know when to wake up or eat.

Either way, even with so much excitement, Silver was very nervous. Tonight's the night where it will decide the rest of his singing career. And everypony knew that if you don't impress every pony at your first concert, then no pony would want to listen to you compared to some pony that's already famous and fails at one of their songs.

But no matter what, Silver will not fail, and he will impress everyone.

His thoughts were interrupted when somepony came barging into the room. Silver turned his head toward the door as the makeup artist and hair stylist groaned. Silver could've destroyed their hard work, but luckily he didn't.

"Silver Bass! The Princess is here. But it's not Celestia!"

Silver tilted his head. He gets that it's a big deal for a Princess being here, but in his opinion, it shouldn't be that much of a big deal. And Silver wouldn't be surprised if Luna came instead of Celestia since the concert is at night.

"It's Princess Cinder!"

Silver eyes widened when he heard those words left the stagehand's mouth. Why would Cinder even come to his concert? Doesn't Cinder stay at the castle for most of the time?

He shook his head, trying to calm his thoughts. He shouldn't be like that, Cinder is like every pony else, she has emotions like every pony, and she shouldn't be questioned for being at his concert.

Besides, Cinder should be showed compassion especially since her fiance died days before their wedding even though Cinder tends to show no interest in everything. But it was understandable.

"Well, that's great! I hope Princess Cinder will like the concert," Silver exclaimed as his bright big red eyes sparkle at the thought.

"But Silver, I don't think the-" The stagehand started, but she stopped herself. She couldn't kill the male's optimism right now.

"I guess we have to prepare the stage to impress Princess Cinder," she told him before leaving the room.

Gosh, it's going to break Silver's heart to see that he couldn't impress Cinder.

Silver Bass' dressing room was silent as everypony went back to preparing Silver, but there was an uneasy tension in the air.

((I hope you like it ;^; ))

Princess Cinder, in person, was much larger than what many expected her to be. Despite being the middle child of the three sisters, she was the tallest. Rather than standing at the average 4 feet that standard ponies in Equestria typically measured, she stood at nearly 7.

This meaning that she was very hard to miss, unfortunately for her, and many ponies becam to focus on her, asking for pictures on her way by. She had hoped to get to her seat in the back of the theatre quietly without interruptions, but the flame-colored mare rarely ever got what she hoped for in these circumstances.

The two guards with her, Astral Thunder and Onyx Sky, moved to stand on either side of her to help her through the crowd. Upon them reaching their destination, they retreated to behind her.

"You know" the princess said gently, looking out at the crowd. "You are allowed to sit here. I would have said something if you were not. I doubt any pony will make an assasination attemot. No pony has before. And if they do, you will not be able to see from there."

The guards were genuinely surprised at this rare show of generosity by their princess. Slowly, they bowed to her and agreed before moving to either side of her.

Cinder looked around, taking in the atmosphere. She smiled slightly. She had been here before with him.

Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Rolling Thunder. Releasing a slight sigh, she thought about how close he was to her Blue Lightning. Kind, strong-no. It wasn't him. Astral thunder was nothing like her Blue Lightning, and he never would be.

But he looked like him, so that was a plus. Dark hair and mane (the only difference being that Blue Lightning's was black and mane only one shade darker) and a tall stature. Sometimes she felt like he was with her still

Unable to shake these thoughts, Cinder sighed and focused on the stage, saying nothing even as the guards spoke to her.

At the same time, the hair specialist with Silver Bass finally spoke. "Silver Bass. Do you really believe the stories about princess Cinder? About her fiancé, I mean. You can't really think they are true. They're just stories. I hope you know that."

She sighed but said nothing else of the matter.
