CURRENT QUEST: MEET UP AND PARTY

~~~~~
Friday is oft-considered a near-universal good day for the young, as classes from elementary to even college stop and allow those youngsters to spend time doing whatever they were going to do. And, for those in the gaming community, this particular Friday would have a special significance to it. The most advanced VR game to date, an MMORPG titled 'Agents Temporalis' was going to be opening its servers in the late afternoon, knowing their target audience would quite much appreciate it.
And indeed, one group of friends that went to state college together would very much appreciate it. No classes, no after-school activities, and no reason to worry (at least, until the due dates for their owed projects approached). As such, they had decided to have themselves a little get-together before going into the game itself. They had agreed that they would meet up at their favorite food place and hang out until they could get into the game.
And of course, one thing that they could do was talk strategy, as every single one in the group had been able to enjoy the closed beta test. Despite that there was no guarantee that they would end up having the exact same experience, given the procedural generation of quests and near everything else in the game - which would react and adapt to their own actions.
As well as that, the only true give-away that they were beta testers would be the fact that they started with the in-game title of 'Chrono Trigger', given that the developers wanted to head certain arguments off at the pass. They would, however, be allowed to carry over their beta characters, though they would be brought back to level 1, with all their gear and skills set at that same area.
It had been a fun week of beta testing though, and soon they would be able to return to the Nexus and to time-travelling antics, as the game was launching in just a few hours.
Cyrus sat in their usual booth at Wackdonalds™, thumbs furiously tapping at his phone in a beat heard only by his ears. He'd pause every once in a while to adjust his headphones or sip from the plastic cup in front of him. His usually loose blond hair was tied back in a low ponytail, a few tendrils framing his feminine face. Anyone who considered Cyrus a friend knew the signs: it was event time.
When his in-game energy depleted, he swiped the app close, glancing at the time displayed. Beside his cup sat a half-empty container for large fries, knowing that when the others arrived he'd be eating a proper meal with them, if you could call dubious fast food a "proper" meal. He didn't think so, but it was sustenance at the very least, something Suzette drilled into him on a daily basis.
Another five minutes passed, yet no one was there. Not that he was surprised; Cyrus had intentionally arrived much earlier so that he could sit down and grind for the event. But now he was growing impatient, wanting to talk shop with his gaming friends. Swiping open his messenger app, he scrolled through his various servers until he found the private one he shared with his friends.
Where is everyone? I'm lonely here.
After bidding her co-workers a good day as she left work, Suzette practically flew back home to feed King before he decided he would take matters into his own paws. And it was never a good day for brunette when her cat deemed her to be late. There was a reason why she installed child-proof locks on all her cabinets and drawers and that reason wasn’t because she often had children over at her apartment.
She loved her cat, really. It just didn’t change the fact that he was a brat.
Thankfully, when she did get home her apartment was scratch-free and King was only snoozing away in a cardboard box he apparently claimed ownership over. He had kicked her new (used) and expensive textbooks out of the box but she was just going to put them away and take it as a blessing that that he didn’t scratch anything (because these were rental damnit). So by the time she actually left her house again to meet up with her friends at WackdonaldsTM, the cat was fed, she was out of her work clothes and she even squeezed in a quick shower.
Best of all? She didn’t feel the need to aggressively fuss over anyone or down an unhealthy amount of black coffee. Or cry.
And she was early to the meet up, if Cyrus’ recent text was anything to go by, which was always a good thing. By the time the message was read, she was already a few feet away from the establishment. It probably wasn’t necessary for her to send a replying “omw” but it was more for the others’ sake than Cyrus’. And just in case, as she entered the building, she added a blunt but well-meaning inquiry to the chat.
“Is anyone going to be late? Please speak up now so we know who to wait for.”
One buzz. Two buzzes.
Quickly finishing off the last of his scribbles with a flourish, Lihan gently placed the packet down on the table. “With this much diligence, you should score within the 700 range for math. Don’t worry too much, and just keep at it!” His tone was positive but even, much to his secret relief. Hastily grabbing his coat provoked a questioning sideways glance from his student, but by the time the brunette had noticed, he was already in the hallway saying his goodbyes to his student’s mother and out the door.
A sprint a few blocks down had Lihan muttering some rather less-than-nice things about half-days at high schools interfering with his own off-days (but who was he to reject an offer of extra money?), dumb traffic light timings, and the need to exercise more. Naturally, in the case that some unfortunate passerby might happen to overhear, the rant was uttered in Finnish the entire way, which, he hoped, was a language much less likely to be understood than his mother tongue. He was already used to running late, but that didn’t mean he enjoyed getting in extra exercise by running down the streets. Last time he checked, he wasn’t maso.
A third buzz.
With their chosen place of meeting in view, Lihan paused for a much needed moment to catch his breath. He deftly fished his phone out of his pocket mid-wheeze to check up on the three messages he knew were waiting for him in their designated chat room...Well, at least it didn’t seem like he was too late considering Suzette only just asked that they be notified of any late-comers. Speaking of the girl, there she was, walking into the establishment with the glass door slowly easing itself closed behind her.
Quickly following suit, Lihan found his way inside and to the table that his friends had settled down on. One...and two he silently counted to himself. Considering that Suzette had only just arrived, he figured he wasn’t particularly late, which was a relief. Though he doubted he’d have had to fear the ire of his friends and party mates, something about being late to their first official day of play on any game’s launch gave bad-luck vibes.
“So we’re just waiting for Aline?” The question followed a friendly wave as Lihan gently set his bag down on the floor next to the free seat that he had just claimed. One last scan of the establishment proved that the girl in question was nowhere in sight. Well, it can’t be too long until her arrival, right?
ALINE BERTILLE
*note: I'll code next time >x>
Aline woke to a tingling sensation coming from her right forearm, a vibration from a text. The girl's eyes slowly opened, revealing stationary sprawled across a large desk with an equally large sheet of paper of which her head rested on. "Mmm..." she groggily mumbled, raising her head and giving her eyes a thorough rub. The current time was 7 AM -- no, 8 AM at the latest based on where Aline had slept...or napped. Opening her phone however, she saw a different time.
Her eyes widened. Asleep for that long? Aline thought, rubbing her eyes once again as she began to stand. Tucking in her chair, her pace quickened. The first matter in order was to respond to the text.
"Sorry, caught in bad traffic--rush hour, you know how it is."
This was a new low for Aline in her opinion. Not the blatant lying, as she's previously done it shamelessly multiple times to a point in which it feels almost comedic. Instead it was for her tardiness. While never as early as Cyrus, Aline had always prided herself with arriving to an event always at least ten minutes early -- especially to something as important as the group's meals at WackdonaldsTM.
Aline hadn't spent too much time preparing herself, as she was already wearing her normal clothes. She simply grabbed her phone and her keys and left. Lateness is something that forced Aline not to care if she had forgotten something; she only cared about reaching WackdonaldsTM as soon as possible, no matter the cost.
~~
"I'm sorry. Something came up and I had to go someplace else quickly," Aline apologized, sneaking in another half-baked excuse as soon as she was in earshot of her group. Everyone else was already gathered: Suzette, Cyrus, and Lihan. She only hoped she wasn't too late -- she silently prayed that Suzette or Lihan had somehow come late as well.
~~~~~

After having fun and eating a nice dinner, the group would leave the Wackdonalds and head back to their dorms or places of living. Soon they would begin to get themselves linked up to their dive gear. And Soon after that, the dive gear scans their brainwaves and sends them into the virtual world of Aurastia...

~~LOGIN~~

**Please Input your Login Information**
As the system AI makes the first request to the players, a console appears in front of them, in their pre-login ethereal state, so they can login to their account.

**Thank You, <<Player Name>>. Welcome to the realm of Austaria.**
With that, a warm light enwraps the spirit and begins to form a body...

~~CHARACTER CREATION~~

**Chrono Trigger Body <<Character Name>> Detected. Incarnate with this body?**
The system AI was referring to their beta-test characters, lowered back to level 1. Once this body was chosen, the AI had a few more questions

**Please choose your starting equipment**
This, of course, was referring to the weapon type and skins that they would have, as well as armor skins - if they chose their beta character, they would also be given an option to simply use the Beta Settings.

~~ENTER THE NEXUS~~

**Welcome to the Nexus, <<Character Name>>**
As the AI welcomes them to the Nexus, they see, once again, the floating utopian city as they teleport down to ground level...

~~GROUPING UP!~~

They find themselves in the central plaza, completely alone except for the four of them. It seemed that they were the most eager of the beta testers, as by the time they had grouped up and gathered at the Mission Board, new players had just began to arrive from the tutorial mission.

~~FIRST MISSION~~

The Mission Board had, as usual, a mission for each Time. They had yet to level enough to unlock free-hunt, but they were still spoiled for choice given the openness of each timezone.
