Aetheria Ascendancy

The Aetheria Ascendancy are a large insurrectionist/Rebellion group seeking to topple, what they see, as an unfair system and drag down the Magos from their perch. They despise the caste system that is in place, with the Magos at the top and everyone below them, nothing more then fodder to die on the front lines or workers in their factories. This group formed from a once peaceful group seeking fair wages, hours and, gods forbid, days off for the overworked factory workers that produces and powered the Magos' various inventions and toys. When their pleas were ignored, they grew desperate, and when the Magos started to crack down, they turned violent. Launching attacks and raids upon various factories, the symbol, of what they see as the lifeblood of the Magos. This, of course, has degraded from group to group. Some of the Ascendancy will only target factories and the Magos directly, while others will attack anything including the homes of normal people, the same they claim to be fighting for, as they say they are supporting the Magos either directly, or indirectly, by not rising up to join them in their revolution.

Depending on the Magos, the Ascendancy is seen as a puppet that is being used by their neighbors to weaken and distract them or as the perpetrator in the sudden invasion by their neighbors, either way, the Ascendancy does not have much sympathy in the Magos due to many of their cells having a rather violent, 'kill all Magos' message even if a few believe a peaceful solution can still be found. If the Ascendancy is truly working with the other nations is unknown, but most Magos feel it is only logical they are, and if not directly, at least being supplied by them.

Seriphina

Seriphina Is a massive nation to the West of Aetheria, dwarfing Aetheria four times over in size and more in population. This juggernaut of a nation, while massive, is very rural and poor. While it has a very large population, most of the population is spread about the large prairie covered nation acting as either farmers or horse-riding nomads. They have a large distrust, and even suspicion, over most forms of technology, especially, that of a steam or mechanical variety. This large nation, which in truth is more akin to various small communities and large nomadic tribes each led by their own leaders and horse lords, is the leader of the Coalition lined up against Aetheria led by the 'Serpent', a horse lord of the largest of the Tribes known as the  'Unbroken'. The people of Seriphina are masters of the horse and the bow, and their armies tend to be formed up of large 'mobs' of poor farmers or those without horse and backed up by large swaths of nomadic horse archers, some wearing better armor then others, these nomadic riders, before the coalition, used to raid and ravage the lands of other nations, Aetheria included, for spoil and slaves. The Serpent was born on the shattering of a star, and on this day, a great piece of it was said to have fallen east, towards Aetheria, a sign that a great Migration was coming, a Migration that would bring an end to Aetheria, once and for all.

Taridos

The Taridos is a very wealthy island city state off the coast of Aetheria. Long considered friends and trade partners, it came as a great, and painful, surprise when they joined arms with the Serpent and Taridos. While lacking some of the more exotic Aetheria tech, Taridos is by no-means primitive. They have a very large and powerful navy, a strong understanding and heavy usage of the recently discovered blackpowder weaponry. They do not have a large standing army, mostly marines or city-guard, but what forces they do have are very well disciplined, equipped and well supplied. The Taridos are the main suppliers of the Coalition and have greatly cut down trade in Aetheria through privateering and full on blockades on the over-stretched lines of Aetheria choking its economy and supplies as its allies push through Aetheria's defenses.

Epharim

Epharim were the main rivals and competitors of Aetheria. A heavily technological nation, much like their own, the two compete in everything from common inventions, weapons of war and trade. Situated to the south of Aetheria, Epharim didn't used to be a violent nation, and while they were rivals, there was little evidence of any war sprouting up soon, but that all changed with the rise of their new monarch, a woman known as the Harbinger for her vicious and bloody coup that removed the previous royal line... Anyone with even a hint of the royal bloodline of Blythe were removed so no one could ever rise to threaten her. Ruthless, intelligent and vicious, it is her that many Magos in Aetheria blame for this Coalition, hiding behind the Serpent and using him as her puppet to see the removal of her largest competitor and threat, Aetheria, as well as a chance to take any secrets Aetheria has within it for herself. They have large, well disciplined armies and, by themselves, would be a hard-won match for Aetheria to face.
