Lore

Vampires -
Vampires are creatures of the night. They are pale and their eyes are red or grey, bu they are elegant. They live in darkness and shadow and they hunt in the night, yet they are not evil. They greatly dislike sunlight, owing to the fact that they are not used to it. Vampires eat all foods, but they have a more carnivorous diet, and they must consume a particular amount of blood at least once a month in order to live. There are a few nations of vampires, most notably the Alterwood vampires who inhabit the dark forest and the dark fortress at its edge. The vampires of Alterwood are very fond of silver, Lunite, and mithril, and are famed for their mining of Lunite.

Centaurs -
Centaurs are the lords of nature. They resemble men from above the waist and horses below it; their physical characteristics are the same as those of horses and humans. All centaurs are strong and make excellent marksmen. They are friends of the forest, and while they eat all sorts of food, they rely mostly on fruits and mushrooms. They also eat vegetables and drink wine. The centaurs that inhabit the dark forests of Alterwood (who are large and stronger than other centaurs and have darker skin) are the most infamous, and they have good relations with the vampires, even considered their best allies. Centaurs value emeralds and opals.

Dwarves -
Dwarves are the masters of the craft. They are like men but short and stout, and they have large, thick beards and bushy eyebrows. Dwarves were the first to forge metal and shape stone and are the most technologically advanced. They are possibly the most powerful beings in the world, as they're the only ones who know how to make guns, cannons, machines, gunpowder and explosives, and even vehicles. Dwarves live in mountains, but the most infamous are the ones that live in the four corners--the Eastern, Western, Northern, and Southern Dwarves. Dwarves have also tamed dragons, and are the ones controlling the only three trains in the whole land. They are very fond of gemstones of all types, but they are never too greedy. Dwarves eat all sorts of foods and drink all sorts of wines and beer. Dwarves have good relation with all other races, with the sole exception of Goblins.

Satyrs, Nymphs, Dryads -
Satyrs are the men of forests. They have the legs and horns of a goat or a ram, and the body of a muscular man; some satyrs also have antlers. Satyrs play music on string instruments, such as the lyre, and wind instruments, such as the flute or the Pan flute. Satyrs eat only fruits and vegetables and are very fond of wine. Satyrs are friends of the centaurs.

Dryads are the maidens of forests. They resemble young and fair maidens with green skin. Being nature spirits, Dryads can disguise themselves as trees, ferns, or bushes, but not for too long periods of time. They mate with the Satyrs. Nymphs are the water equivalent of Dryads and are found in rivers and lakes, but they do not mate.

Darkhorn Satyrs -
achaea_satyr_by_cribs-d4orrm8.jpg
Darkhorn Satyrs are a race of Satyrs that deviated from forest Satyrs many ages ago. Like their forest counterparts, they're half men and half goats. However, unlike their forest counterparts, Darkhorns are much more bulky and well-built, their horns and skins are darker, and they're more ferocious. Darkhorns live in small towns by seas and they make great sailors, sailing on great ships with animal figureheads carved into the prow. They wield heavy weapons, such as axes and maces, large swords called Ulfberhts, and seaxes, and they wear little to no armour. Despite their vigour and aggressiveness in battle, Darkhorns are quite hospitable, and they seem to always be hosting at least one festival in their great halls filled with wine and mead and mutton.

Goblins -
Goblins are the usurpers of the land. Their skin is black like coal and their eyes glow red. Some of them are large and bulky while others are scrawnier. Goblins live in underground towns and cities and are the most chaotic beings. They rummage and plunder villages, and they move in armed bands, ambushing travellers or hunting unsuspecting animals. Goblins mount wargs or boars, and sometimes even bears. A Goblin-town is dug near the Alterwood forest, which provides excellent cover for the bandits who ambush unsuspecting passersby.

Wildlife -

*Dire Wolves - Dire Wolves are a breed of wolves which are about as large as a small horse. They're found solely in the frozen forests of the north.
-
*Onycs - Onycs are giant bats that live in the mountains and are a little larger than a horse. They're nocturnal animals and feed on livestock or prey animals like sheep and deer. Onycs rarely attack humans or vampires, but they would feed on the injured but not the dead.
-
*Black Wolves - Black Wolves are a breed of wolves who live in the Alterwood forests. They're darker than coal or the goblins and their eyes shine in the darkness. Black wolves live in small packs and have a great dislike of fire.
-
*Wargs - Wargs are large aggressive beasts that look like a cross between a bear and a wolf. They originated from the forests in the West, but wild wargs are rare, and most are ridden by the goblins.
-
*Great Spiders - Great Spiders are a type of spiders which are larger than normal spiders. They range from the size of a foal to that of a large moose. They live in a few places, like deep underground caves, ancient ruins, and the darker parts of the Alterwood forest.

Lunite -
Lunite is a rare and expensive metal that shines silver in the deepest darkness. It is coveted greatly by all of the races, especially those that live in the darker areas, such as the vampires or the dwarves. It's used in crafting gems that light the way in the darkness and in forging expensive weapons for royals. Lunite is found rarely outside the Alterwood forest and is produced by the Alterwood vampires, who sometimes sell or gift it to other nations. Lunite cannot rust and does not get dirty, is extremely durable yet very light, which are all properties of Mithril as well.
