Well... I'd say, all of the creatures are 'viable'. Vampires are powerful, yes, but they've got some flaws. They just aren't too obvious. Living for hundreds of years, for example, can make you really depressed, and good senses also means that they're blinded by light easily etc... and, of course, the permanent bloodlust.

What year do we currently have/ how does the appearance of a vampire change through the time? Because of the birth date thing... I want my character to be rather young. But she should still be a vampire. That's why I ask.

We've got 2015, and vampires won't age. So, if they don't have new haircuts, plastic surgeries,... they'll look the same forever.
