Greta was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and lived on a military base in California. She grew up in a household where her mother was a massage therapist and her father was a marine. They lived, for the most part, a modest life and her mother always made sure they had everything they needed.
Greta’s parent marriage was slowly become an unhappy one, her father was a cheating liar and absentee parent. Her mother was consumed with making sure Greta had enough to be happy despite the crumbling marriage. It was clear to her that the only reason her mother still stayed in the marriage was for her, so she took it upon herself to tell her mother it was okay to leave. Her mother began packing up their belongings and left the military base with Greta in tow. They left to go live in Michigan with Greta’s grandmother for a while. It took two years for the divorce to be finalized.
Life at her grandma’s house was pretty odd for her. Her grandpa got up every day at the crack of dawn to have his radio blare loudly of a gospel radio station and drink coffee. Her grandparents even went every Sunday to attend church for both services and even held little house parties. While those were very strange things they did, at least to her, nothing was even more weirder than her grandpa. He was a nasty old man who also had abusive qualities and talked down to the grandmother.
Eventually, her mother was able to save up enough money to buy a house in Barrow Groves. While Greta was not very fond of living there, she was happy that her family was once again getting back on their feet. She made sure she studied real hard and excelled in all her classes. She was too caught up in making a life for herself that she tended to stray away from talking to people her age. In her spare time, she writes and enjoys looking at art.

Emmett was born in California to Stephen Monk and Laura Calle, two officers working for the Los Angeles Police Department. After a stray bullet very nearly took Laura's life, the two decided to move to a smaller, quieter town, in order to ensure that they would both remain alive and able to raise their young son. After scouting various towns and neighborhoods, the pair settled on Barrows Grove.
As an athletic man himself, Stephen was often frustrated by his son's lack of physicality, at first believing there to be something developmentally wrong with him. Though it was revealed that Emmett's immune system was slightly weaker than that of the average child, there remained nothing seriously wrong with the boy, leading his father to believe that he merely needed some prompting in order to grow into his own. Repeated failures in this regard caused a great deal of tension between father and son, causing the two to distance themselves for much of Emmett's teenage years. Despite this, Emmett nonetheless became determined to show his father that he was worth something, and so he turned to his father's profession for answers.
Seeing as he did not have the physical nature necessary for police work, he instead turned to the theory of such things, immersing himself in criminology and forensics instead. Although his father did not seem to be too impressed by Emmett's potential career choice, Emmett himself managed to find a great deal of interest in the field, and eventually decided to pursue it professionally.
As he trained his powers of observation, however, various things about Barrows Grove became unnerving; it was almost as if there was something borderline Stepfordian about the entire ordeal, though what that was felt just beyond Emmett's grasp at all times. Switching his focus, Emmett decided that he wanted nothing more but to get out and move to a big city in order to start his career, partly afraid that if his suspicions regarding the town had already garnered the wrong person's attention.
Then came the news of Amber Velling's death. She was no one that Emmett knew personally, but something, something about the way that she died, seemed ever so slightly out of place. The circumstances surrounding her passing could just be the confirmation that Emmett needs. Despite college being just around the corner, Emmett cannot help but feel that he needs some sort of closure in regards to his feelings towards Barrows Grove. The death of Amber Velling might be able to provide the answer.

Keith was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, in Brownsville (a section in Brooklyn. It is considered to be a relatively tough area). Growing up, Keith's father was never around and he was only with him for about the first three years of his life. When Keith turned three, his father pleaded guilty to fatally shooting Shameek Jones, the man who allegedly slept with his wife. Keith grew up with one older brother who taught him everything about the streets and how to behave. As a child, Keith earned a reputation as a curious and intelligent child, but unfortunately, he never really used those two good aspects to its full extent later on in his life. Through out most most of Keith's life, he was a quiet child, both at home and at school. He usually kept to himself, but when he got angry, it wasn't a pretty sight.
As a teenager, Keith started to get into trouble at school. He started getting into fights, which wasn't strange for him, but it was almost as if it was becoming a habit. Not only did he get into physical altercations, he also started becoming truant and got involved in soft drugs like marijuana at the age of fourteen. Although, when Keith made the football team in his sophomore year in high school, he started getting his act together and studied hard that year (he mainly got a C's and one D. Nothing special but it was definitely better than his previous grades).
One night, as Keith was walking home from school, a man wearing all black with a gun in his hand approached him. The man was clearly attempting to mug him and Keith knew that he couldn't be shamed like this. So, Keith grabbed the pocket knife that he always carried around and attempted to stab the man in the rib. The man reacted and attempted to shoot Keith some where in the chest or stomach, but Keith's blade already hit the man and his aim got spoiled and fortunately, the bullet only struck him in the shoulder. This wasn't the first time Keith got mugged getting home, but this was the first time he was harmed badly. After the incident, Keith's mom decided to move Keith out of Brooklyn and into a nicer area.
As Keith neared adulthood, his mom found a small town called Barrows Grove. Although it seemed like a nice little town, Keith found it quite eerie for some reason.
Backstory to be updated.
