2150 The Update Era (RP)

((Broken Blacklist, I'm a bit confused, sorry v_v.... does he have a lot of gold, or did he really get rid of it all shopping?? I'm going to assume that was a joke or sarcasm and he really does have gold, otherwise why would this be Xandri's job? Yeah, I feel really unintelligent... :P ))

Xandri nodded, setting the soup bowl down. This would give it time to cool at least. She moved around Gino to the open window and delicately dropped herself out. She enjoyed the split second free fall before she activated her levitation and floated gracefully the rest of the way down, making almost no sound when she dropped to her feet. She was never exactly sure how her levitation worked--she had grown up with it--but it was incredibly helpful for her job.

She made her way on to the street, getting as close to the man as possible while still looking casual. she slowly and carefully reached her fingers into his pocket as she kept up a steady pace behind him. She didn't have to worry about the other pedestrians spotting her. Not in this part of the city anyway. She slipped coin after coin from his pocket to hers, silently counting them out as she went. Fourteen pieces in the left pocket alone! She moved to the other pocket, moving just as swiftly. Twenty pieces in this one! She never really understood the value of money as a child, her family had so much of it. But like they say, "you never know what you've got 'til it's gone." And her families wealth was indeed gone, along with her family. No matter, that happened so long ago.... and now Xandri really does understand the value of a gold coin, making this job all the better.

Now that the man's pockets were empty, it was time to get the rings. That part was in some ways harder and in some ways easier than the one she just completed. Easier, in the fact that she wasn't going to have to sneak anymore, harder, because she really needed to brush up on her acting skills. Well, it was now or never. Casually, she moved around the man so that she was walking by his side, but a few paces ahead of him. She made sure to look like she was busy, with a place to go. She glanced down at the street quick, looking for something to.... perfect! about four yards ahead was a lopsided manhole cover that protruded just high enough off the rode for Xandri to trip over. Hopefully this man was the type to help a young girl in need.

She made sure to look distracted as she approached the manhole cover, so as not to raise suspicion. She shifted her foot ever so slightly to catch the edge of the cover and she let out a cry as she went crashing face first onto the road. Ow.

"Miss, are you alright?!" The man called out, jogging to her side. Perfect. She pushed herself up into a sitting position, pouting like an injured child, which actually she kind of was. When she fell, she landed on her knee a bit too hard and skinned it. Not bad, but it did hurt. All the better for her plan of course.

Xandri nodded weakly, fighting hard to suppress a smile as the man extended his hand to help her up. She took his hand, slipping the ring off his finger in the process. That's one. Once on her feet, she brushed herself off, slipping the ring into her pocket in the process. "Yes, thank you sir.... I'm so clumsy..." She laughed wistfully, shaking her head a bit.

"Yes, well, as long as you're okay... Miss...?"
He trailed off in question of her name.

This time, Xandri couldn't stop the smile that spread across her face. This man was playing perfectly along with her plan, it's like he was begging to be robbed!

"Eloise." She answered, holding out her hand to shake. She knew better than to use her real name, because sooner or later he would find his lack of gold, and there would be no Eloise for the Military to look for.

The man shook her hand and she slipped the other ring from his finger, luckily it wasn't tight so it came right off. "Thank you so much for your help, but I really must be going." She said sweetly and ran down the road.

She made sure to go far enough and down the street and down a few allies before circling back to the orphanage. She skipped up the stairs and into the Rubare's head quarters, smiling brightly at Gino and handing him her pouch. "Piece of cake, I'm thoroughly convinced the guy wanted to be robbed." She said in usual soft-spoken way.

She went over to her bowl, the soup was nice and cool now. She brought it over to a corner of the room and sat against the wall, silently eating.

Maybe she was an idiot for accepting this job. That was what the few people she had actually spoken to since she had accepted it told her. After all, she didn't even know the name of who she was working for just that he had given her more than enough money to keep her interest even with such an absurd project.

Harper brushed a strand of dark hair out of her face as her eyes swept coldly over the street. Harper was a free associate, she didn't bother with the Rubare or the Sicario because she wasn't interested in hierarchies. If she followed an order it was by her own choice and she couldn't imagine this changing. Today her target wasn't within the Rubare or the Sicario. It was the leader of the military. His name was Jade.

Harper sighed darting forward when she couldn't see him on this section of street. She was proud of her updates and her speed likening herself to a wisp of smoke or a shadow. She could pass by swiftly and silently and usually she had done her job before anyone even knew what was happening, but today if she could locate the military leader she suspected it wouldn't be this easy. She was expecting the worst, but the reward would be excellent if she could escape with her life. Her speed was enough to make clearing rooftops easy for her and she flitted over them quickly stopping every block or two to search for her target. She had received intelligence that she would be able to find him on patrol around here.

Her intelligence had been right. She could now see him. Harper smiled to herself and quickly checked her minimal supplies for the hundredth time and she withdrew a blade from the belt along her waste before jumping across to the next rooftop to get closer to her target.

"Here goes nothing." she thought to herself not daring to even whisper aloud in case he could hear her before she dropped off of the rooftop. She grabbed the edge of it to slow her momentum so when her feet hit the street they were nearly silent and she did no damage to herself whatsoever. Luckily he hadn't seemed to notice the soft fall of her feet and she smirked reaching forward with the blade hoping that he wouldn't turn around in the next half second it would take her to kill him.

Luckily he didn't but when she reached forward to plunge the blade into his neck it glanced off of his skin without making a scratch. And Harper understood suddenly that this not had been a mission to eliminate Jade but rather to have her eliminated. That was why her employer had insisted on secrecy and why this mission had seemed too good to be true. It was. There was no way that they could have known everything and not known that his skin was as hard as diamonds. Harper hopped back tossing her knife aside as she rummaged through her belt. She wasn't going down for this mistake without a fight at the very least.

Gino, examined the pouch of goods, his face tainted with a smile. "Good job! Now all we have to do is wait for Scarlet and ill go sell this at the black market. Anything you want in particular? Im sure we will have some gold left over from these raids today, very nice, very nice indeed." He exclaimed while putting the pouch inside his bag that was hanging on the wall with the other goods. "Im thinking of getting some military ID cards to try and help with the more personal raids. " Gino almost looked like a evil villian in a hold cartoon with rubbing his hands together and a smirk. "Anyways, thats all im planing to get unless Scarlet wants something else, if she doesnt you can ask me to see if they have somthing."

Scarlet smirked as the safe room's combanation lock began to click delightfully. Many people had upgraded to finger print scaners and such, but she enjoied cracking these much more. There was a certain delight to seeing the door swing open with no force. 32....15....28... She thought comiting it to memory as she swung the door open. The rich never changed their codes for some reason. That just made it easy for her to get in the next time. She slipped out all the gold and jewls that could fit in her satchel.

She closed the door and swung the combation dial. Her tail twitched slightly and she smirked ready to go leave her mark. The only thing that tied her hiests to her. Sliding out the small handle in her jacket pocket she activated the blade. It took a bit of tolerence to get past the pain the first time she had used the blade, but now she could easily make it up to seven feet long without spending needed energy. She made it the size of the average dagger and cut her three claw marks into the wall. Always three.

Many people in the past had tried to copy her mark but she was the only one that could do it right. "Va Bene~" (Very good) She whispered to herself in Italian before smirking and going back to the window she had entered from.

I'M BACK!!!!!!~))

Zephyra held her breath to completely still her movements as a man who, based on his attire, she guessed was the butler stepped outside and gestured for his company to follow. Next out was a woman holding the hand of a small girl who she graced with a serene, happy smile as she tugged her along down the steps to the awaiting car. The father, followed by his son whose head barely reached his father's elbow, exited next and the butler closed and locked the door behind them.

Zephyra took aim and fired, killing the two children first, their parents and their butler quickly following. The shattering of glass followed as a bullet shot through the window displaying the chauffeur, and the leader of Sicario hastily ducked behind the screened-in porch's low wall so she was out of sight as she disassembled her rifle. A knot of unease twisted her gut, but she shoved the feeling down, stomping on it until it was forced into submission.

She truly disliked killing children, even if she could rightfully assume these children were spoiled brats. Children - no matter whose they might be - where, in her mind, the essence of innocence, but she did not want to leave those children to face the world alone. To Zephyra, killing the children so that they wouldn't grow up with hate, or fear, or a thirst for revenge was almost merciful. Though they had died, at least they died with the smiling faces of their parents ingrained in their memory. Or, at least, that is what Zephyra told herself as she stuffed rifle bits back into their places in her briefcase.

She hadn't felt good about killing the butler or the chauffeur, either, since they were working class, but she couldn't allow the two to survive the incident. It was possible that the butler and the chauffeur had overheard the target's business plans - the ones revolving around his involvement in the government - and Zephyra wanted to eliminate all traces of the man's impact on the government as quickly as possible. It was flimsy reasoning, she knew, but she didn't want to take the chance that somehow either of the two employees would be able to carry on in their employers stead, having known the same people he had known, and knowing what it was he did for a living.

Pushing down the traces of guilt that always accompanied her after a job well done, Zephyra made a hasty retreat from the house and bolted for the front door. Reaching it, she calmed her nerves and exited naturally, like she was leaving for work - with briefcase in toe - like any other work day.

Sirens were blaring so loudly her ears ached by the time she reached the driveway of the residence she had invaded, and she cast a quick look over her shoulder. "Ethan," she called, content with the knowledge that the sirens were likely to mask her voice should any others be nearby, though she hoped she had been loud enough for her comrade to hear her. She opened the driver's side door of her Stingray then and plopped down in the seat, looking back at the house with five dead bodies laying in the driveway opposite of the one she was parked in. She let her gaze slide over the house as she waited for Ethan - just for a second before she took off without him - and noticed, with a satisfied smirk, that a figure stood poised in a window on the second floor.

"Hello, Scarlet," she murmured. "Why don't you put on an escape act for me? Quickly now, you only have a second," she continued, watching the figure as she sat back in her seat, her smirk never waning.

((Blah. Crappy post, but whatevs. :/ ))

Scarlet heard the sirens getting closer and peeked out the window to see some of the cars pull up in front of the house. Muttering curses under her breath, she remembered that she had seen a window that faced the back of the house. Hoping her memory would be right for once, she ran over to it as silently as possible. The police and other officials began charging the house and she threw open the window which caused a huge squeaking noise to fill the house.

Immediately after, the officials came running up the stairs and Scarlet used her hair to hide her face as best as she could before they arrived and jumped on the window sill. "Halt!" One of the officers shouted at her holding up their tazzer-like weapons. They were new as of last year, when they stopped using guns to avoid killing, and when you got hit with one of the bullets that came from it the body received a shock that rendered the area of the body that was hit unusable. Scarlet had been unfortunate to get hit when they were first being developed and she couldn't move one of her legs for a week.

Not wanting to get shot with one of those bullets again, she put her hands up and stayed still. One of the officers came closer to her pulling out the handcuffs and she smirked, falling forward out the window. She felt a shock on her forearm and gritted her teeth. She grabbed a signs rod and her shoulder popped slightly. "A-" She cried biting her lip to muffle the cry. Scarlet looked down and being that she wasn't very far from the ground she let herself drop landing on her feet. She looked up briefly before quickly running through the alleys turning at random moments. Huffing she stopped and looked at her arm that hung limply by her side.

"Dang it!" She muttered under her breath and sat pulling her arm into her lap. She had to get the bullet out before the tracking system that was located in it disclosed her location. Scarlet let one of her claws come out and pushed the small metal through her arm`gritting her teeth to the pain. She tore off some cloth from her shirt and tied a knot over the wound with her working arm and teeth.

When that was done, she stood again and chucked the bullet in one direction before heading back to the orphanage, holding her wound to hide the blood. Spotting the building she rushed towards it hoping that Gino could help her get cleaned up again.

Gino's eyes flickered to a worried purple because his nose smelt blood mixed with the scent of his beloved leader. "Oh no..." The dog-like boy jumped up and almost flew down the stairs because of his speed. His nose, of course, was right. Gino shivered almost out of worry and anger. As his heart pulsed with the irritating emotion, his left eye shaded to a crimson color to signify his fury. Though, his first priority was to keep the leader safe. "Scarlet!" He yelled before meeting her at the doorway and helping her inside. "You really cut yourself up bad. You wont be going out on any jobs for a while, I hope you know that. I will stay with you and send another member to deal with the black market. Geez, you have to be more careful!"

Scarlet smiled at the boy wildly. "You sound like a mom!" Her eyes still held the pain in her arms but her voice was playful. She wasn't thinking about them as she allowed Gino to guide her inside. "I got set up and shot." She whispered so the children near by wouldn't hear. She liked being around their innocence but not when these this were going on. "Just don't let the kids see the blood." She started to the stairs hoping that she could pass the kids without them noticing and getting through the thieves without any of them flocking her.

Gino did his best to sheild the views of any of thoughs that might be watching. "Okay, your room isn't much farther..." He whispered back in her ear, having to cover her wound with his hand to stop from both, dripping onto the floor, and loosing too much of the liquid the human race so desperatly relys on. As they came upon her room, he closed the door and set Scarlet down upon her bed. "Okay...Do you want something to bite down on while I pull the bullets out and clean the wound?" Gino thought it would be fitting to put on glasses, of course these glasses did nothing to improve or dilute his vision.

Scarlet smiled faintly at him as he set her on the bed. "I pulled out the bullet already but that disinfectant is going to be pain full since I used my nail." She hated any pain but could usually get through it. It was here that was really painful. Having to clean a wound was worst of all. Gino was one of the few that had ever seen Scarlet show pain and she wanted to keep it that way. She felt that if she was stuck here then she couldn't set an example for the other thieves. This was why she would take menial jobs. She liked to be an example for the others.

(Sorry for the wait guys! Had a big test this week and forgot to tell you. -__- back now)

Ethan began walking down the porch steps when he heard several shots. Zephyra had started. He immediately ran to the edge of the yard just in time to see the butler collapse. His old aged eyes widened in surprise. He clutched his chest where his heart would be with his snow white gloves. The deep red of blood blotched his dress shirt. Ethan was prepared for Zephyra's imminent assassination but even with that in mind, the actual event hit him like a train. The lifeless bodies of the family lay in the driveway, a stream of their collective blood running down the smooth pavement, reminiscent of soapy water from a car wash. Ethan turned as Zephyra walked out of the house. The sirens were loud now.

Ethan gathered his bag of candy from off the grass and followed her. Ethan had never seen the death of children before. This one incidence gave him a hollow pain for a reason he could not explain. Without a word, he climbed into Zephyra's ride and closed the door.

(Even crappier post D:)

Gino knelt down to find a bottle of medical alcohol under her bed. He kept it here specially for Scarlet since she seemed to need it the most, because when she did get wounds, which was rare, they were pretty bad. "Okay, bite your tounge or somthing, this is going to hurt alot..." He dampened a cotton ball with the threatening liquid and place it upon all her wounds to get any bacteria or viruses that had come to die. "Was it the Military? We really have to teach them a lesson!" His eyes tainted with a crimson color and he bared his teeth, trying to hold back a sudden burst of anger.

Scarlet winced as Gino cleaned her arm. "Yeah, but they aren't the ones that we need to teach a lesson to." She wasn't happy but it took a lot more to make her angry and even then she saw never blinded by that anger. Growing up on the streets had taught her that, also that you don't just attack for what you need. You stigmatize and wait until they least expect it.

She had to give those that had set her up some props. They had done research and found a way to track them with out her knowing. Now that was rare.

((Sorry for the wait. :/ ))

Zephyra sighed as Ethan hopped into the passenger seat of her Stingray. She had really been looking forward to watching Rubare's leader's arrest, but she refused to risk the same fate. If her plan worked out, she'd be able to see it by that evening when she hacked into the police report for the day. Who knew, they might even give the story over to the news stations and have a ball after such a big arrest. One way or another, she would be able to find out Rubare's fate later that day, and so she skillfully pealed out of the driveway and sped off down one of the streets leading deeper into the neighborhood. It wouldn't do her any good to run in the opposite direction of the police; they could find that detail a little too suspicious to pass up. Instead, she took a more roundabout way out of the neighborhood to detract attention to herself, though she still put a little extra speed into the act.

When Zephyra had put a few miles between herself and the cops, she leaned back a little in her seat, relaxing a little more as she drove through downtown. She pulled a cigarette from her pocket and lit it, inhaling deeply before she spoke. "How'd you like the show?" she asked casually, doubling checking her mirrors to make sure no one was tailing her. She rolled the windows down a crack to allow some of the smoke to escape the vehicle. She was nothing if not courteous to her employees, so long as they weren't actively screwing over her operations.

Ethan scanned the neighborhood. There were people in their lawns, on their porches, perhaps talking about about how fine the day was. He wondered how the community would react upon hearing the news of a murder just down the road. People would gasp, measures would be taken, and trust would be broken. Before the assassination, the people were normal people living normal lives. However, Zephyra's intervention created an imminently devastating effect on the lives of this whole rich neighborhood. Zephyra's cold-blooded work was astonishingly painful to watch but Ethan tried his best, not to show his displeasure.

"It was quite breath-taking, actually." Ethan ran his fingers through his hair while yawning.

"How do you do it so smoothly.. It's quite terrifying to witness how one does not really react to such bloody gruesomedeaths,"

((Sorry brain fart lmao))

Zephyra breathed in deeply, inhaling the smoke from her cigarette and reveling in the warmth and buzz it provided. As she exhaled, she angled her face towards her opened window some so that the smoke she exhaled was sucked out of the car by the wind whipping around the vehicle as they zoomed through the city. "I think about how the men and women I kill are no better than me, than a cold-blooded killer. Those who would kill the homeless as a solution to overpopulation are scum, and I view my work as a social service that betters the overall community," she responded smoothly, her voice calm and collected. After another long drag, she broke the silence once more.

"If you're more interested in how I killed the kids and the help, the answer to that is just as simple. The help - the butler and the chauffeur - had to die to make sure any secrets they overheard died with them; I couldn't risk having them sell their information to someone who would misuse it and harm the general public," she explained as she weaved in between cars and motorcycles. "As for the kids," she began in an even more subdued tone, one that was almost sullen, "I think about how shitty it would be to grow up as an orphan, knowing your parents, your life, maybe even your future was stolen from you by some trigger happy b*tch who would forever roam free because the police couldn't find a clue on her whereabouts. That, and I don't want some revenge-crazed teenager coming after me, hell bent on my destruction," Zephyra concluded and took a final drag on her cigarette before putting it out in the ash tray beside her.

((Sorry for the delay, and Happy New Year peeps.))

Gino finally finished on scarlet wound, concluding his work with a multi-layerd wrap to keep it from bleeding all over the place. "I am still angry at whoever did this..." He crossed his arms, he wouldn never go against Scarlet's word, but he still wanted to rip her attacker's throat out. "Ugh!" he had to walk out of the room, feeling to irritated by staring at his hurt leader anymore. "I need someone to take our stolen good to the black market!" He announced to the group of theive that were there. "Who is willing to go?" He knew this was his job, but with scarlet injuired and him flaming with fury, he knew it would be wise to stay and try to calm down.

Scarlet let out a sigh and laughed a bit at the angry young man that had just left the room. Hopefully he doesn't take out her anger on the others. She joked to herself knowing that if the wrong person walked up to Gino while he was angry he would almost snap. Holding her flimsy arm to her side, she stood and carefully stepped out of the room and leaning on the door frame. She scanned the room with a smile to see if anyone made a move to go to the market.

Gino shook his head as the lack of offers, "I was predicting that this would be easy pay, instead of going to the trouble of breaking and entering. But fine, it will just have to wait..." He was stubborn enough not to go if it was his own free will. He was to take care of Scarlet as one of her closest co-workers and make sure she doesn't die. His left eye flashed to a dark yellow, indicating he was both worried and disappointed. Gino finally notice scarlet form the corner of his eye and turned around, both of his eyes eventually shifting to a bright yellow. "I will take the supplies to the black market as soon as you show signs of healing."

Scarlet shook her head with a rare expression tracing her face. "Go. I'll be fine on my own. I've got a whole guild here with me." Her eyes held a very serious expression that made the smile seem strained. "If we're going to pass out any food tomorrow we'll need money from those supplies." Making a shoo motion with her hands, she turned to go back into her room knowing that he wouldn't argue if she gave him an order and didn't give him a chance to input anything. As she returned to her room she picked up an old book from decades ago before the eReaders stopped printing presses. It was a favorite of hers that took place in a different future around the same time. With a smile she opened it once more. The binding had cracked slightly from the many times that she had read it but it hadn't fallen to pieces like the many others that she had found.
