Poetry 1 Word Prompts

Sand by Alice Cunningham

An endless desert of vast sand lies before me.
Grains and grains, curses and curses
Yet my mind is one of contrariety
Oceans and oceans, verses and verses

And as the sand drifts between my fingers
The moon starts to rise
My imagination is blank when this desert night lingers
And in the sand is where I'll rest in my demise

When one grain of sand arises
Another is forgotten forever

Clock by Alice Cunningham

Tick tock, goes the clock
A simple passage of time
I want to run
And follow the flock
But there is a murder, a crime

Ding dong, goes the chimes
A darkened bloody mess
But who has been killer?
Find out in these rhymes
But nobody will confess

Beat beat, goes my heart
Nobody knows it was me
A death by my hand
Its time to depart
Running with the clock, I'm finally free
