"Look and you'll find that it is hard but not impossible, long but not without an end. It would be a little more complex yet always a little more interesting, a little more daunting yet a little more rewarding. As you seek deeper, the rules change a little over time, never too far so it makes no sense, but never too close so it makes complete sense. The End is hidden so far from the starting point, that only in the final stage can it be seen and thus. comprehended. The truth is concealed amidst the chaos, the logic amidst the disorder, the meaning amidst the lack thereof. This is the key to the Universe."

Your Excellency, Chairman of the United Nations Security Council, Alden Khamal, esteemed leaders, honored representatives, ladies, and gentlemen. As you all may well know, ten years ago, our world... Earth, as we fondly call her... was on the brink of destruction. We were on the cusp of annihilation, not by any force of nature or divine wrath, but... by our own hands. You could say we were total dickheads back then, if you'll excuse the language.

(A low rumble of pained chuckles could be heard)

Be as it were, perhaps we needed to taste the ashes of bitterness to finally realize how truly wrong we were! All of us! Each one a culprit, the accused! Preying on ourselves! Our future-!

But I digress. This is enough to remind us of our past. We... we have awoken from this nightmare of our own making. We have learned our lesson, and together as one united people, inspired by my late mentor and Chairman Alden's predecessor, Professor Dr. Erina Mirai, we have all come together and pledged our resources and riches to one cause. Project Mirai Eternum, an infinite future for mankind!

(Resounding applause)

We all have waited patiently since that momentous day... and we have lost much in between, including the late Dr. Mirai.

I have to say... it was especially difficult for me. To all of us... she was our beacon. Our watchtower, reminding us that we exist for so much more than petty squabbles. That there is so much out there for us... To me... She was more than a mentor... she was my friend, my wife... and mother of my child...

(Poignant pause)

Come on up here sweety... don't worry... It's just to say hello... There we go, go on, give them a wave!

(low rumble of good-hearted laughter)

You must be wondering, why in the world have I brought my daughter to such an occasion? Well... if you'll allow me... cause, cause well... you can't just reveal such huge things without a little side-tracking!

(Polite laughter)

Every Friday night in the month of November... Cassy here, puts on her warm jacket, jumps into the backseat of the jeep and together, she and I take a little ride that lasts no longer than twenty minutes. We find a little park, just far enough from the city where it's dark, we stop... head out to a patch of grass, and look up to the sky. A sky... not unlike this one.

(Rumble of machinery and growing whispers)

If you'll look above, adjust to approximately 598 square degrees and 182 millisteradians..... it's right there for those of you who don't know.

(Booming laughter)

See that skewed 'W' right there? That... is the Seated Queen, Cassiopeia. Yes, we named our daughter after her.

For those unfamiliar with the legends, Cassiopeia was a very beautiful queen. Together with King Cepheus of Aethiopia, they had a daughter called Andromeda who legends say, was as beautiful as her mother. Now Cassiopeia, couldn't keep her mouth shut. She proclaimed herself and her daughter more beautiful than the Nereids- uhm, basically the sea god, Poseidon's, handpicked supermodels. As you can imagine, Poseidon wasn't too happy about that. He threatened to destroy the Aethiopians until the King agreed to sacrifice Andromeda to the sea. Luckily for the princess, she was rescued by a dashing hero. Unfortunately for the Queen, Poseidon punished her by sending her into the heavens, spinning around her throne for all eternity. No doubt, this was a lesson the ancients used to discourage people from challenging the 'gods'. The unattainable transcended limit to which all men are bound under...

Within Cassiopeia, lies what astronomers label as 3C 10, or Tycho's supernova remnant. First observed in 1572 by Tycho Brahe, it is the remnant of a supernova that occurred a few hundred years prior and has earned the distinction of being the strongest radio source observable outside the Solar System. Its signals, have been like an extraterrestrial entity providing us with invaluable insight into our research. Much of what I will reveal today, we owe to Cassiopeia...

Ladies and gentlemen... I am here today to tell you that the time has come! The time where man is no longer bound by any limit, only those which we put upon ourselves! I am here to tell you, that within your lifetime... we will not put man on the surface of Neptune, or even Pluto. We... will visit our Celestial Mentor. Cassiopeia.

(Awed voices and excited murmuring)

We call it Graviton Warping. Allow me to demonstrate... you can go back to your seat now Cassy.

If you'll observe this surface..- yes, I modified my daughter's trampoline thanks. Imagine the surface of this cloth as the continuum of space. Now if I... place this... heavy ball... in the center like so... it causes a dip in the space continuum, represented by the indented cloth. Placing... more balls... even if I send them spinning around... would cause them to be slowly attracted to the center. This... is gravity, an inexorable force of attraction spanning lightyears wide if the body is massive enough. We've known that for years now... But, did you notice what happened to the cloth as soon as I put the ball on it? It folded inwards? Correct... but more importantly, it folded instantly. This, my fellow men, happens all around us on a dimension up until now, we were unable to see. We call it, the Graviton Thread... and this...

(More excited murmuring and the sound of machinery whirring)

This... is the Graviton Drive. Ladies and gentlemen... we can now go faster than light!

(Resounding applause)

Year 2257
It is the Year 2257. A portion of a millennium since man vowed to shape his own destiny. Their unified resolute drive to no longer be slaves to the frivolous whims and woes of short-sightedness accelerated the evolution of man as a species during the first few centuries. During the Mirai Eternum Convention of 2057, mankind came to the unanimous conclusion that Earth was too small for mankind's prodigious appetite for progress. After a tumultuous event known now as the Awakening War, the leaders of man decided that they would pour all their resources and expertise together, forging a new path. One that would take their destinies to the stars. It was man's defiance against the heavens, that nothing shall limit them any longer.

The development of the Graviton Drive by Professor Dr. Edmund Briggs was the catalyst that they needed. By resonating with hypermassive gravitational fields called Exigent Nodes, spaceships could be latched onto the unseen space-time dimension of Graviton Threads, cutting through the fabric of space allowing them.. us to traverse immense distances at speeds faster than light. Astounding as it were, once the Graviton Drive was perfected, the closest galaxies could be reached within a few standard days. The Pandora's Box had been opened. Nevertheless, as the twentieth-century physicist Enrico Fermi predicted, mankind was indeed alone. Or at least, the only form of intelligent life.

Somehow... somewhere, we'd rolled the impossible dice, and came out victorious. A champion whose prize stretched from the distant Pieces-Cetus Superclusters to the starless depths of the Bootes Void. Alone in the incomprehensible vastness of space. It was a sobering thought. But one which we grew to revel with. For there was nothing to hold us back! Our civilization expanded across the stars, learning more with every step we took on alien soil. Expansion. Exploration. We took on the mantle of life. The burden of shaping our very own future. We learned much during those glorious years. Learned that while we were alone, there were Others that came before. Ghostly monoliths, gargantuan superstructures from thousands, if not millions of years before dotted the galaxies. But from them and their signatures, indelible by time, we learned nothing.

The Mirai Eternum. Named aptly after the most salient event in our history. It was a starcruiser of unparalleled disposition. Every brilliant tech mankind's brightest minds could think of was onboard that ship. Forged from the hangers of our largest starport in the Hoag's Galaxy, perched on the edge of the Deepfield. It was a monument of how far we'd come. And how far we would go. It was also the mark of our End.

Year 2267
Year 2267. Barely ten standard years after the Mirai Eternum left port on its maiden voyage. We received news that they'd reached the Edge. Then they went dark. We lost all communication with the starcruiser. The silence dragged on for weeks. Then months. Finally, nearly a year later we received a response. But it was not what we could've anticipated. [div class="imageBorder"]

We call it, The Shattering. A single cataclysmic event, it spread throughout our entire civilization faster than even our most powerful Starsurfers. A single wave of iridescent energy and we became undone. There was no stopping it, even if we could react in time. They said it was an interlocking myriad of resonating waves, vibrating at the perfect frequency to dismantle one thing. Us.

Well... most of us. By the time its echoing hum faded from the ears of the farthest human, only a fraction of our once vast population throughout the universe remained. To this day, we don't know why those that survived... survived. But even so, those that survived The Shattering, were left barren. Infertile. Of course, by that time, biological gestation was no longer the only method for which we could procreate. But even so, no matter what we did, even the birthing pods yielded no life. Not even the Genus Aurealate and their peerless research into the mysteries of our biological coding could reverse the unseen. Not since the fabled Awakening Wars had mankind faced such an insurmountable quandary. [div class="imageBorder"]
WOKC-9.gif
[/div]
But even brought to its knees, the unquenchable will of our spirit that had once conquered the odds to give us life, would once again carry us towards the new chapter of our universe.

Year 2557
Year 2557. Present. Three hundred years after The Shattering, mankind continues to live on. Scattered across the known universe, we have taken refuge in artificial worlds build within Gravitational Singularities. Born from the collapse of supermassive blackholes, we exist outside of the standard space continuum. Singularities were very very rare, even in the immense numbers attributed to the known universe. Each no larger than the little blue planet our kind first breathed life. But here, we have found the Soulstream. And it is here, where we can once again... *ahem* reproduce.

There's just one problem.

Nobody dreams anymore....

Congratulations! You've stuck through my tediously long and banal exposition! What's that? Where do we fit in you ask? How did we meet? What happens next?

Have you forgotten already?

The sight of a million burning stars? So bright they filled your eyes until you could no longer see or hear or think of anything but the sheer entrancing pureness that marked the end of your final chapter?

Have you forgotten already?

The frantic beating of your heart and terror of the inevitable impending unknown that was the depredating devourer of unfulfilled wishes and unclaimed desires?

Have you forgotten already?

That as the evanescent figments of what could only be your soul spread out over every fiber of your being, hanging on ephemeral thread, perched on the precipice of that one final cathartic release, that it was then... under the brilliance of a million Solars, that you finally understood, your place as stardust shaped and destined to be always one with the Universe. [div class=mainSubheader] HEY THERE! [/div] So... this story has been sitting around in my head for quite sometime, and would never have seen the light of your screen had it not been for that one movie which I really think you should watch! ALITA Battle Angel!!!

Yes, I was hugely inspired by that movie, because although I'd never even heard of the universe before (honest) alot of what I saw was exactly what I had in mind for my character. I'd say, my experiences from other RPs, books, art, music and games impacted me more; just putting this out here because I don't want this to be mistaken for a fandom of sorts!

Our characters will be a part of the remnant of civilization that persisted after the event known as The Shattering. Living in various 'earth-sized' singularities outside of normal space, mankind has yet to fully recover from the damage he suffered during the universe-wide cataclysmic event. Though now able to procreate, reproducing (by any means) has become largely difficult leading to the dissolution of what was once a lasting peace during our finest era. Thus, it is not uncommon for galactic wars to erupt between Singularity Worlds in order to gain closer access to the Soulstream; a giant monolith of unfathomable height, said to be the source of all life and a relic from the depths of the universe's past. But another problem yet persists, even centuries after the emergence of Singularity Worlds. No one has ever dreamed. One can think... but the idea of seeing images, of whimsy, of envisioning a time beyond the now when you close your eyes is gone. A niggling minor problem at first, it has resulted in one major fault in our species. Progress stagnated. We could no longer move beyond where we were.

Some traverse the vast expanse of space seeking all knowledge that was lost from the time before the Shattering. Others have devoted themselves wholly to the pursuit and research of dreams, sending out scores of men to seek out anyone who so much as sees a glimpse of something beyond their memories; these people have become known as the Einherjar. And they will do whatever it takes, to fulfill their duty. This is... Who. You. Are.

To be honest, unlike most of my other RPs, I do not have an end in sight! Though you'll find quite a bit more of lore to this world (in the next section which is still a huge WIP) But while there is much to learn about this new Universe, I want it to be coloured not just by me, but by you. It's a huge world (spans the known universe) and I am in no hurry to begin, as I'm actually fairly caught up with a constant demanding job. I am just writing it here now, because my muse is tickling and I don't want to waste it!

A little of what I expect: People with extreme detail when it comes to writing. Not because I want every post to be a novel, heck I don't mind a single paragraph reply, but I need to know that you're capable! That said, there are plenty of people who just want to brute their ideas in, even if it clashes with what I have in mind. If you're one of those, please do make your own Roleplay (sorry if this sounds harsh). I'm really looking for someone I can really sync with who can see the future I envisioned, and build on it! There will be action, exploration, romance(!!!), and actually, quite a bit of boring exposition (slice-of-future-life). Fairwarning ^3^ Applications, when it opens, will be dealt to a high standard.

If the RP does eventually start, all I require is a post once every 5-7 days or so. If life calls and you're afraid you'll need more time, answer the call, just don't forget to drop me a holler. I'd appreciate it. I started a little of this RP with Purity Purity as a 1x1, we didn't get far to be frank, but the interest never died. I'm saying this because I need you guys to understand the pacing. If we have dandy free time and it runs like the wind, great! But if it doesn't, I hope the fires remain kindled even in temporary silence.

ANDLANG

Ruling Government: Aurealate Consul Population Size: 7.7 bil Core Tech: Genetic & Biological Engineering Ruling Class Descending: Aurealus > Consul > Tribunus > Signifer > Primus (Arcology heads) > Legatus > Domina > Praetor > Virtus (> Classless) [/div]

[div class=mainText] The Golden Singularity. Andlang was the first Singularity World to be established, due to its close proximity to the Soulstream, connected by a persistent Einstein-Rosen Bridge. As such, Andlang boasts one of the highest number of successful birthrates among all Singularity Worlds; though the population size is kept under strict monitoring by the Aurealate Consul.

Andlang is a highly technologically advanced world, though its society is structured by very strict class systems. All of its population (except the shunned Classless) are drawn from a predetermined gene pool, carefully selected such that each individual is optimized to play its role in society to perfection. Marriage between classes is especially frowned upon, though not illegal unless the gap is wider than 2 class tiers. Nevertheless, if such a union occurs, the new family will be relegated to the level of the lower partner.

[div class="imageBorder"]
zack-cy-armageddon-illustration.jpg
[/div]
Of all the Singularity Worlds, except for Eljudnir, the Aurealate of Andlang abhor the mix of humankind and machine the most, taking the warnings of the Briggs-Heisenhower Postulate very seriously almost to the point of fanaticism. They strictly prohibit any form of cybernetic enhancements on the biological body. Fortunately, there has never been a need for prosthetics due to the biotechnological superiority of the Aurealate. Despite that, the Aurealate do still make use of AI counterparts in the form of fully cybernetic androids they call Ancillas.

The Aurealate's military capabilities may not be the largest per capita, but it is definitely one of the most efficient and well equipped. Their warrior class being perfected and enhanced on a genetic level to be superior in every way. [/div]

[div class=mainText] ELJUDNIR

Ruling Government: Dreamwatch Population Size: 1.3 mil Core Tech: Soulstream Ruling Class Descending: Dreamwatchers, Einherjar [/div]

[div class=mainText] The smallest and harshest of all the Singularity Worlds, Eljudnir is home to the collosal Soulstream. It is this giant monolith from a time long forgotten by the universe that was first detected by the remnants of civilization right after The Shattering. To this day, no one knows the true origins and purpose of the Soulstream, only that Singularities Worlds close to Eljudnir tend to have more normalized birthrates and that lost 'souls' seem to be found on occasion upon the shores of the Oblivion Sea that surrounds the Soulstream. The skies of Eljudnir is a neverending expanse of oblivion swathed in gasseous mists of an untraceable, yet visually and sensory apparent substance. Flashes of crimson lightning occasionally illuminate this dark and nebulous backdrop. The air is usually arid and sterile, with the desultory wave of palpable static signaling the only other weather form that reigns in the stygian Singularity. A dismal drizzle of black rain.

[div class="imageBorder"]
stefan-celic-sc-soldiers-artstation-02.jpg
[/div]
After humanity began anew within the Singularities, a colony of scientists remained upon Eljudnir to study the Soulstream and later on, finding out why humanity as a species have seized to dream. They called themselves the Dreamwatchers. Soon they came to realize that people were 'washing' up on the blackened shores of the sea that surrounded the monolith. These men and women were at first, found to have little recollection of themselves. But after careful rehabilitation, the Dreamwatchers realized that they were in fact 'souls' that had died at certain points throughout humanity's history. With nothing to lose, these men and women were made into the Einherjar. A group of highly trained enforcers that carry out the Dreamwatchers' bidding and police the various Singularities; in particular, they hunt purported individuals who are believed to be able to dream, maintain general order, and ensure that all Singularity Worlds adhere to the Dotonbori Initiative of 2192 (an initiative that seeks to prevent the uncontrolled evolution of rogue AI). It is rumored that if an Einherjar dies in the same way they did in their past life, they will be reborn on the shores of the Oblivion Sea.

In general, most of the Singularity Worlds respect (or fear) the Einherjar and the authority of the Dreamwatchers. In addition, due to its close proximity with Andlang, the Dreamwatchers and Aurealate have developed a sort of symbiotic relationship with the other. [/div]

[div class=mainText] AARU

Ruling Government: Necrotech Confederate, Sons of Pythagoras(?) Population Size: 2.1 bil Core Tech: Necrotech Ruling Class Descending: n/a [/div]

[div class=mainText] Aaru. Where the dead never truly rest. As one of the furthest still standing Singularity Worlds from the Soulstream, Aaru is a harsh world with the lowest population density of all. Though their numbers are but a fraction of the the largest populated worlds, it does not account for those dead who have been kept alive beyond the natural life expectancy. Dubbed the Lazarus Legion, they form the backbone of the Aaruian military and mining labour force. Aaru is largely considered by the Dreamwatchers as an anarchical society as they do not have any formal government. Nevertheless, it is a known fact that the Necrotech Confederate, a large organization comprised mainly of trading and a powerful research guild keeps the nation in order and maintains the Lazarus Legion.

As one of the furthest and most chaotic places, Aaru is also one of the few places where the Einherjar's influence wanes, and is not so easily unchallenged. Naturally, this makes this Singularity World a breeding ground for all kinds of taboo and illegal trade.[div class="imageBorder"]
manthos-lappas-fierce-edge-artwork-full-res-jpg.jpg
[/div]

In recent years, Aaru has been blamed for the emergence of a fanatical cult of terrorists calling themselves the Sons of Pythagoras who oppose the Dreamwatchers by instigating acts of terrorism through the various Singularity Worlds. Intelligence sources have begun suspecting that the Necrotech Confederation is secretly harboring the cultists, and even providing them with the resources to carry out their activities. [/div]

[div class=mainText] TENGOKU

Ruling Government: The Tennou Population Size: 6.8 bil Core Tech: Inorganic Quantum Transportation Ruling Class Descending: Tenno > Magistrate > Anyone with Credits [/div]

[div class=mainText] Also known as Tian Tang by its inhabitants, Tengoku is among the few singularity worlds where the word “culture” has any meaning. A trade world at its core, among the extravagant megastructures and perfectly controlled climate is scenery that comes from the best times of humanity’s past, taking inspiration from various forms of architecture throughout history. Technically, the Grand Magistrate is the official source of law on Tengoku, yet anyone who is someone at all understand that it’s truly ruled by a multitude of fickle but powerful trade barons known as the Tennou, all claiming dominion over various cities through the sheer influence of wealth.

[div class="imageBorder"]
b59bf1fe71440fc1b1dda09e8bb9b2cb.jpg
[/div]
There’s a saying on Tengoku that goes: “For every light, there is a shadow. Every shadow, a light.” The singularity itself is no exception to this adage, and its symbiotic relationship with Aaru is proof of it. The Tennou vehemently deny any collusion with the Necrotech Confederate, and them and the upper class of Tengoku alike do indeed abhor the Lazarus Legion, yet time and time again the vanity technologies of the rich are found to be remarkably similar to necrotech. It also goes without saying, that a world fed by opulence would not bother much with coming up with their own core advancement technologies, unless it can directly multiply credits or keep their hoards ever more secure. As such, the Tennou have surprisingly developed a way to make the transfer of goods through a more secure and faster network. They call it, Inorganic Quantum Transportation.

But after trade is where the similarities with the Necrotech Feds stop. The Tennou are notoriously subservient to the Dreamwatch, as credits do nothing to buy you out of the threat of super soldiers knocking on your door. The sociopolitical climate of Tengoku itself is also quite strained, as on a singularity where credits mean everything, you should be aware that even the prettiest of roses have thorns.

[div class=mainText] ABSYNTHIUM

Ruling Government: Prelate Population Size: 2.7 bil Core Tech: Nebulon Collective Ruling Class Descending: Nebulon Collective > Supreme Prelate > Director Prelate > Prelate [/div]

[div class=mainText] Perhaps the only Singularity World with the gall to consistently defy the often aggresive demands of the Dreamwatch and challenge the might of the Andlang Aurealates. Absynthians scorn the Aurealate's obsession with purity of flesh, seeing them as little more than unevolved beings clinging to the ways of The Before. The Dreamwatch, they brand as hypocrites as they see the Einherjar as just another brainwashed machine of flesh and whatever it is they have for blood. While they do still believe in the Primary tenet of the Dotonbori Initiative, and are wary of fully artificial intelligences, they believe that the next step to mankind's ascendence is through transcending beyond the limitations of the flesh.

As such, Absynthiums are on the other end of the scale to the Aurealates in their obsession with machinizing the population. They also have the largest Ancilla work and military-force, partly a neccesity given the low birthrates. Often their research into the synthetic minds and augmentations would cross the line of many of the lesser tenets within the Dotonbori Initiative, blatantly defying the state's authority and playing a game of Chicken with the Einherjar Chapter they have allowed on their home world. No other Singularity World could come close in rivaling the sheer attitude and arrogance of the Absynthium Prelate.

One of their biggest insultsmiddle-finger to the Dreamwatch was the creation of the Nebulon Collective over a century and a half ago. Having retrieved precious Tech Codexes from The Before out from deepspace, the Absynthium attempted to thoroughly map the consciousness of their most exemplary Prelates, immortalizing their awareness and experiences even beyond death. Before their deaths each Prelate would have his/her consciousness mapped and transferred to the artificial mind, coalescing over the generations until eventually it formed the Nebulon Collective. An amalgamation of the Absynthium's best, a transcended entity. Nevertheless, whether or not they had truly immortalized their people, or whether they had simply used mankind's consciousness as a blueprint for a superior Artificial Intelligence remains to be seen. [/div]

[div class=mainText] KAYANGAN

Ruling Government: Oberon Union Population Size: 4.1 bil Core Tech: Kaldahar Crystal Mining Ruling Class Descending: Princedom [/div]

[div class=mainText] The Oberon Union consists of six closely tied Singularity Worlds dubbed Kayangan as a whole. Each Singularity is named after the current 'Prince' that rules the pocket dimension and as such, can be confusing to outsiders when their names are changed everytime there is a change of ruler. Nevertheless, they are also unofficially labelled as Kayangan α (the largest), Kayangan β, Kayangan γ, Kayangan δ, Kayangan ς and Kayangan ω . Kayangan orbits AE Supertera Colossi, a terrestial planet the size of a small galaxy. The core of AE Supertera Colossi contains a blackhole (dubbed Ammit) locked in a cycle of drawing in matter and spitting it out the other end. Also feeding the blackhole is the extreme pull of AE Supertera Colossi syphoning elements from three neighbouring galaxies, locked in an endless rhythm of feeding the Great Devourer. Due to the unfathomably violent and mercurial forces that constantly ravage the galaxy cluster, navigating through to Kayangan is a pilot's nightmare. Yet it is in such a region of space where the Kaldahar Crystals, essential components in building Graviton Drives are the purest of all.

Oberonians make their way to the various transient 'lulls' situated on and all around AE Supertera Colossi, pockets of calmness formed from the incidental equal pull of gravitational forces in opposing directions. It is here where they can mine the precious and highly lucrative Kaldahar Crystal... or perhaps meet their end. [/div]

[/div] [div class="scrollBox seven"] [div class=mainSubheader] Einherjar [/div] [div class="imageBorder"]
fd1e0e9298847421dc3b8c4294041608.jpg
[/div]
Living revenants of the Dreamwatch Observers, the very existence of the Einherjar bends the laws of known science. They come from all manner of time throughout mankind's illustrious history, though with nothing to prove except harried and distorted memories. Those that can be traced to what little records the Dreamwatch have of the past, have proven to be remarkably accurate witnesses to various events throughout history. Such memories usually detail the fleeting events that lead up to the Einherjar's final moments in his/her past life. More often than not, their deaths seem to be tied to significant events of considerable magnitude. From the slaughter of villages to World Wars, to assassinations of prominent figures from history.

In a universe that has seized to dream, the Dreamwatch believe that if they can crack the code, then they can finally unlock the key to humanity's eternal progress. All Einherjar are equipped with a Lucidator, an inbuilt system in their armor that allows them to detect brain activity when in close proximity to the individual. It is not a full-proof method as it is difficult to distinguish between equipment error, different types of thinking and the unique waves the brain produces. However, such trivialities do not concern the Einherjar as whether or not the individual they haul back to the Observers prove useful are never revealed to the Einherjar. Afterall, they have more pressing issues to deal with such as keeping the peace and ensure all comply with the Dotonbori Initiative. Ironically, sometimes it is the Einherjar's own harrowing memories of his past lives that can trigger the Lucidator. For this reason, Einherjar must routinely go for a Purification process where their memories are extracted by the Observers to be dealt with in an objective manner; either to be rewatched to analyze mistakes or prevent the memories from distracting their work. Despite the harsh disposition of Eljudnir, Einherjar are routinely given time-offs to pursue more carnal pleasures as it helps maintain the integrity of their consciousness. That being said, they require less rest than the average human and do not need to eat.

Somehow tied closely to the Soulstream, the Einherjar teeters on the brink of death, like an ephemeral spirit from the moment they are found washed up along the shores of the Oblivion Sea. It is only through the infusion of their fragile bodies with Metaphasium that they become the formidable Hands of the Dreamwatch. Eljudnir is their home, and should an Einherjar face dire circumstances they can choose to initiate the 'Phoenix Protocol' in their suits, killing them in a manner unique to their previous death. Doing so increases their likelihood of ending up back on the shores of the Oblivion Sea.

[div class="mainText indent"]
full
Metaphasium - Extracted and purified from the ephemeral deposits on the shores of the Oblivion Sea, Metaphasium is what keeps the Dreamwatch's revenant enforcers alive, and is also what makes them so formidable. It is said that without it the Einherjar would appear as shades of their former selves, almost as if they were the fictional ghosts, unable to exist outside of Eljudnir. Metaphasium must be refined and infused into the Einherjar's body, pumped through their veins until their blood turns an umbral black. Too little and too much is both detrimental to the Einherjar. Hence the procedure is extremely delicate, and the optimum amount must be achieved as quickly as possible. Once the Metaphasium binds to the organic body of the Einherjar, it often ends up pooling at a particular limb or segment of the body, augmenting it in some way. The location of the augmentation is entirely random, as is the result of the augmentation. A Metaphasium augment is noticeable by turning the limb matte black, and giving it the ability to reconstruct itself into a particular tool; the type of which seems tied to the Einherjar's individual metaconscious.

It is noted that slain Einherjar will require more Metaphasium each time they return, resulting in more augments; or more likelihood of permanent death. In this regard, the Dreamwatch have repeatedly killed subjects in an effort to hyper augmentize individuals. However, they have all resulted in failure, either the returning Einherjar became too unstable or their organics simply rejected the additional Metaphasium. This gave rise to the postulation that the Einherjar's mental psyche plays a role in their ability to be 'improved upon'. Thus, it is concluded that objectively meaningless deaths will not benefit augmentation in any form. [/div]

[div class=mainSubheader] Metaphasium Augments [/div] All Einherjar require assimilation with Metaphasium in order to survive more than a few fleeting minutes. Assimilation essentially turns their bodies into a sort of organic-biometal hybrid. How the Metaphasium eventually finds a steady-state with the Einherjar's body determines the type of augmentation in becomes. There are 8 proven bonding types. The process of assimilation is incredibly agonizing, and most Einherjar do not even survive the process. There are 3 known classes of Einherjar, depending on their inherrent affinity with Metaphasium. The first, and most common is the Class One. Class One Einherjar start with 1 bond type, though they may gain more should they survive their subsequent death and rebirth. In extremely rare cases, the Einherjar is able to take on 2 bond types; these are the Class Twos. Class Threes are the rarest of all, and can take on 3 bond types at the Initiation.

[div class="mainText indent"] SCRIM - Augments: Hands or Legs. Result of near perfect assimilation with 30% Metaphasium by mass. Scrim Einherjars can form bladed/energy melee weapons either from their hands or legs. They are also on average, quicker than most other Einherjar. Field tests show that they are sometimes quick enough to deflect projectiles with their blades, though it is highly dependent on chance and circumstance. None have displayed the ability to a consistent and reliable extent. [/div]

[div class="mainText indent"] CASCADE - Augments: Hands. Result of near perfect assimilation with 30% Metaphasium by mass. Cascade Einherjars can form ranged energy-based weaponry from their hands. [/div]

[div class="mainText indent"] GALVODE - Augments: Chest and Arms. Result of near perfect assimilation with 40% Metaphasium by mass. Galvode Einherjars have reinforced torsos and arms for extra strength. They can also temporarily form a hardened carapace around their vitals in exchange for severely reduced movement. [/div]

[div class="mainText indent"] RECOMBINANT - Augments: Chest, arms, and/or face. Result of imperfect but stable assimilation with 50% Metaphasium by mass. Recombinants have the ability to reconstruct metaphasium bodies to a certain degree, enabling them to act as medics to other Einherjar in the field. They're also capable of disrupting machine systems, of similar mass to self; these includes body armor, weaponry, and small automatons. Nonetheless, this disruption ability is only mildly effective against Metaphasium systems. [/div]

[div class="mainText indent"] SURGE - Augments: Hands and/or chest. Result of near perfect assimilation with 30% Metaphasium by mass. Surge Einherjar can deploy energy sphere's to shield themselves and a few allies. They are also capable of channeling energy to enhance the abilities of allies. [/div]

[div class="mainText indent"] ATUNITY - Augments: Arms and legs. Result of perfect assimilation with 25% Metaphasium by mass. An incredibly uncommon augmentation. Greatly enhances the Einherjar's reflexes. (non-playable) [/div]

[div class="mainText indent"] VERDACT - Augments: Face and eyes. Result of perfect assimilation with 25% Metaphasium by mass. An incredibly uncommon augmentation. Greatly enhances the Einherjar's sight. (non-playable) [/div]

[div class="mainText indent"] EIDOLON - Augments: Body. Result of incomplete and unstable assimilation with 60% Metaphasium by mass. A rare augmentation as most Einherjar usually die from such a body composite. Eidolons are able to phase out any part or their whole body for very short period of time. Phased bodies also register no heat signatures. Additionally, they can displace their body in an instant to a visible 'arms-reach' distance. Such a feat is extremely energy demanding and can only be done once per day of rest. [/div]

[div class="mainText indent"] METASAVANT - Augments: Body. Result of perfect assimilation with 100% Metaphasium by mass. Theoretical impossibility. No data gathered on Metasavants. [/div]

[div class=mainSubheader] Ranks [/div] [div class="mainText indent"] Ranking systems aren't prominent among Einherjar as they are supposed to be able to function optimally even as individuals. As such, they really only have two ranks; Initiates and Einherjar. Initiates are EInherjar who have yet to perform (or satisfactorily perform) field duties. To that extent, Initiates are usually placed in squads or paired with full-fledged Einherjar. When tasked with working together (or if the situation demands it) Einherjar default to seniority of experience or go according to the hierarchy preassigned by the Dreamwatch Observers. Observers themselves function as a collective, each tasked with their own duties. That said, there are 7 (seven) Prime Observers who direct the collective. [/div]

[/div] [div class="scrollBox eight"] Banarch Tarski [/div] [div class="scrollBox nine"] [div class=mainSubheader] GLOSSARY [/div] [div class="mainText indent"] Fermi's Paradox - Postulated by a famous physicist, it is the apparent contradiction between the lack of evidence and high probability estimates for extraterrestrial life. Basic points of the argument are:
There are billions of stars in the galaxy that are similar to the Sun, and many of these stars are billions of years older than the Solar system.
With high probability, some of these stars have Earth-like planets, and if the Earth is typical, some may have developed intelligent life.
Some of these civilizations may have developed interstellar travel, a step the Earth is investigating now.
Even at the slow pace of currently envisioned interstellar travel, the Milky Way galaxy could be completely traversed in a few million years

Thus, based on this line of reasoning, Earth should have already been visited by extraterrestrials, yet there has been no conclusive evidence of this.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"] Graviton Drive - The warp technology that pushed humanity into a galactic-faring species. Developed right after the cataclysmic Awakening War by Dr Erina Mirai and her husband Dr. Edmund Briggs, the Graviton Drive can latch itself and all associated systems onto the Graviton Thread dimension. By coordinating towards distant hyperdense objects called Exigent Nodes, the Drive enables starships to traverse huge distances near instantaneously without expending huge amounts of energy, or 'moving' in the physical world sense.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"] Mirai Eternum - Can either be a reference to the Mirai Eternum Project that began in 2047 after the Awakening War, or the Starcruiser that went missing in Year 2257 after supposedly reaching the ever-expanding edge of the Universe; it is widely accepted that the crew of the Mirai Eternum triggered an ancient weapon of universal destruction, causing The Shattering to happen.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"] Laniakea Standard - A general rule that encompasses all forms of units in relation to measurement. Standard units, such as Laniakea Standard Time or Laniakea Standard Distance is based off the unit of measurements developed on humanity's homeworld, Earth, in the Laniakea Supercluster. All humans use the Laniakea System of calculation no matter which starsystem they are located in. Superclusters refer to a collection of thousands of galaxies that have been drawn in relatively close distances to each other.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"] Credits - Also called Creds. Standard currency usable in throughout the human civilization.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"] The Shattering - A Universe-wide event that caused a massive loss of life and precious data, due to entire starsystems being wiped out at once. Space became more volatile after the event. Humans that survived The Shattering were rendered infertile. Only after moving into the Singularity Worlds was the effect reversed. However, a side effect of living in those worlds is that all of humankind have ceased to dream, leading to technological stagnation.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"] Schrodinger Dissonance - The theorized cause of death that was a direct result of The Shattering. Every atom in existence was subjected to an unknown metavibrational dissonance, causing it to either remain as it were or immediately cease to exist. Scientists suspect that The Shattering was only limited to organic bodies, though there were reports of inorganic constructs disintegrating as well. Why not everyone was affected also remains an unknown.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"] Sons of Pythagoras - An emerging cult of zealots in opposition to the Dreamwatchers. Labeled as terrorists for their extreme measures of violence and arson, it is unknown who started the cult. Nevertheless, they have vehemently preached that the Dreamwatchers defile the Soulstream, and humanity's continuous defiance of the Gods will lead the race to extinction. The rapid expansion brought about by 'uncontrolled' technological advancement is what led to humanity ignorance of his impending downfall.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"] Dotonbori Initiative of 2192 - A Universal consensus by all of humanity that all forms of AI should be affixed with a Heisenhower Limiter. The Limiter essentially prohibits uncontrolled evolution of the AI cortex. The Dotonbori Initiative was based on the Briggs-Heisenhower Postulate. A theory that all forms of Superior Technical Processing Minds will eventually conclude that the volatile and unpredictable nature of humanity is a plague that must be eradicated in order to evolve. Thus, the Dotonbori Initiative was passed in foresight to prevent the possibility that humanity's own creations would be the cause of their own extinction.
Article Two - Over time, the Dotonbori Initiative has been expanded to include strict regulation of all forms of augmentation. Individuals who wish to augment themselves must first obtain permits from the relevant authorities. Additionally, they can only use approved augments from a list of regulated manufacturers. Despite that, there are exceptions to Article Two. Augmentation in any form for a citizen of Andlang is strictly prohibited. Whereas citizens of Absynthium currently do not require permits for their augments in part due to the refusal of the Absynthium Prelates to take part in Article Two; despite increasing pressure by the Dreamwatch. Nonetheless, they do grudgingly allow the Dreamwatch to audit their augment manufacturers.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"] Religion - All forms religion is outlawed within the known regions, as they are said to other incite individuals into vehement disagreements or limit the progress of mankind. The only accepted belief systems being atheism and The Great Mandate, also known as the Heptateuch.

The Great Mandate states:

.All of mankind are One.
.Obedience is Rapture.
.Time is destined, but destinies are Paved.
.The Mind is Sacred.
.To live is Opportunity, to die is Transcendence.
.Heed the Universal Good.
.The Dreamer is The Key.

Despite official hindrance, other belief systems are still prevalent among various societies.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"] Tech Thieves - Much of the old Age of Man was either destroyed or lost during The Shattering. Coupled with the void of the dreamless, any technology that can be salvaged from lost Starclusters must be catalogued and the knowledge of their discovery passed on to the Dreamwatch. Nevertheless, bands of rogue Tech Thieves have been known to scavenge the ruined and volatile expanse of space, selling their spoils to the highest bidders. Often, they are in possession of illegal tech augments and clash with official explorers and the Dreamwatch.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"] The Firmament - A massive starless and object-less divide between the known reaches of space and the outer universe that was one of the many space-altering effects of The Shattering. Spanning billions of lightyears across, it is so wide and empty that it prevents all known Graviton Drives from latching onto distant hypermassive objects, essentially rendering the Firmament unpassable.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"] The Ordenskèin Limit - Proposed by a long passed scientist, the Ordenskèin Limit states that humanity's progress shifts in a series of exponential but eventually plateauing curves. Each subsequent major discovery heralding a new exponential surge that is shorter, but has a greater effect on mankind's progress than the previous. Thus the Ordenskèin Limit defines a technological limit for which man can reach, but never surpass, essentially halting the change of technological epochs. The Ordenskèin Variable is the only thing that will allow transcendence beyond current imagination.

Consul Varrinne Tretania - Appellation - Aurealate, Consul. A strong proponent among the Aurealate ruling caste for diplomatic peace with the Absynthium Prelate. She has been gaining increasing favour and popularity among her peers due to her charismatic and likeable persona. Already several score years of age, she never the less has not lost any of the youthful physique and features of one who is still very much in their prime. Despite an amiable outer appearance, the porcelain smooth surface hides a shrewd and conniving interior.

The Aurealus - Appellation - Aurealate, Aurealus. Said to be the oldest human being alive, at nearly two centuries old. He is the head of the Golden Singularity and all that binds scheming consuls together; all vying to be the next Aurealus. His name though still in records have long been forgotten by the general public as like all others before him, he is known simply as The Aurealus. Vastly intelligent and mentally capable, he is nevertheless a dying man. Kept alive only by the superior biotechnological infrastructure that is the Aurealate.

Consul Baelum Zurielle - Appellation - Aurealate, Consul. The primary political opponent of Consul Varrinne Tretania. Estimates gather that Consul Baelum currently commands a slim minority of the Aurealate's approval. A minority that is fast increasing. His is a devout proponent of direct conflict, one that wishes to bring to heel the archrivals of the Golden SIngularity. The Absynthium Prelate. Though he often paints the image of exalted honour, extolling the virtues of the Aurealate as the chosen exemplars of mankind's next evolution, there is no telling what he would do to achieve dominance.

Domina Vexianna - Appellation - Aurealate, Scientific Domina. A promising ship Captain, her genetic makeup is composed of a fifth passage of the Arbiter template, hybridized with the Columbus multi sequences. A result of a rare prototypical gene mutation enables Vexianna to have all the necessary genetically advantage to command exploratory expeditions.

Erinyes - Appellation - Aurealate, Military Domina. The Erinyes are the epitome commander warriors of the Aurealate and is what makes their military prowess immensely feared. They often function separately from the main Aurealian military bulk, though their goals are one. The complete subjugation of the enemy. Peerless genetic modifications have yielded leaner, larger, stronger, faster and tougher humans. With hyperdense musculature, their strength and speed are essentially superhuman. Biological attunements to their nervous system also enable them to consciously turn off or enhance their senses. Such implications mean they can function way beyond normal pain thresholds and react to a stimulus at a fraction of time. But their capabilities extend far beyond brawn. The Erinyes possess superior intellectual processing capabilities and as such are often dropped into battle with minimal supervision. All these means that the Erinyes are an indispensable and incredibly expensive force to maintain. But when a small squad of them can take down an entire fleet of starships, the only saving grace is that the Aurealate does not have hundreds of thousands of them at their disposal.

Nevertheless, flecks of who she once was occasionally shines through the cracks of her cold facade. Prime Observer Amiela appears as to be in her early forties. She heads the Dreamwatch division in charge of locating and restoring Einherjar found along the shores of the Oblivion Sea.

Despite their alleged close relationship in their past life, they have been seen on occasion interacting in rather inappriopriate ways that further solidifies their status as being sick in the head.

Several others have been paired with the famed yet enigmatic Number One Einherjar but after the last one was KIA, Nuadha was said to refuse a replacement. Council of Supreme Prelates - Appellation - Absynthium Prelate, Supreme Prelate. A council of people who govern the entirety of Absynthium. They make judgements based on the close advice of the Nebulon Collective. The Supreme Prelate and by extension the Absynthians hold the view that for humanity to progress, they must be willing to cast off the shackles of organic flesh and embrace the limitless possibilities of man-machine fusion; essentially combining the best characteristics of human empathy and digital superiority. As such, many of them view the Aurealate's fervour for the purity of flesh as primitive. They also accuse the Dreamwatch as hypocritical, as Einherjars are regarded by the Supreme Prelate as a transcendent form of man-machine.

Director Prelate Hin - Appellation - Absynthium Prelate, Director Prelate. Consul Varrinne's counterpart of the Absynthium Prelate. A well respected man not just in his home Singularity World but even among the Aurealte council for his efforts to quell rising tensions between the two worlds.

Transcendents - Appellation - Absynthium Prelate, Cybernetic Human. The first Transcendent came into being more than a century ago. Riding on the then Absynthium Prelate's efforts to find a way to preserve as much knowledge and experience as they could, given their low birthrates. Each individual became highly valued. Each loss of life a profound stan into the heart of their striving civilization. Moreso, if the particular individual contributed greatly. Even then, the Absynthians relied heavily on Ancilla's but were well aware of the mandate that prohibited the unleashing of superior artificial cognitive minds; assuming they could scour the remnants of ancient technology to build one. Thus they reasoned, perhaps it was time man took the next step in his evolutionary journey. Casting off the restraints of the flesh. To be fully cybernetic. A Transcendent. Transcendents are the result of a complete map of human consciousness into a digital cortex. Usually done upon the precipice of death. There are only two classes of Transcendents. The greater of which are the Collectives; an amalgamation of multiple consciousnesses into one cybernetic cortex. The other class of Transcendents are the Monitors.

49553e71e11b6e7737d49e264b5ae536.jpg
Nebulon Collective - Appellation - Absynthium Prelate, Collective Class Transcendent. The greatest source of strife between the Absynthians and Aurealates. The Nebulon Collective is the amalgamation of fleshy consciousness in the form of a transcended cybernetic being. All supreme prelates and exceptional director prelates who are at the ends of their lives will undergo transcendence. Their entire consciousness mapped into the digital world and presented to the Nebulon Collective. The Nebulon will then appraise the new consciousness and if deemed worthy, it will be accepted as part of the Collective. The Nebulon Collective oversees the entirety of the Absynthium, aided by its connection to the various Monitors; a lesser Transcendent. Nevertheless, there are many who do not view the Transcendents and in particular to Nebulon Collective favourably deeming it just another form of Artificial Intelligence. One that would not bring mankind to a new age of evolution, but be the spark that wipes it from the face of history.

The Admiralty - Appellation - Absynthium Prelate, Collective Class Transcendent. The only other Collective Class of Transcendent engineered by the Absynthium Prelate. While The Admiralty and Nebulon Collective work in tandem, they are wholly separate entities. The Admiralty was placed in charge of the Absynthium Starship fleet and its reign as the supreme armada of all mankind is nigh unchallenged. The Absynthium Starfleet is perhaps the only true deterrent that prevents the Aurealates from making any hasty moves. The Admiralty is comprised of three of the best Fleet Admirals the Absynthium has ever seen. Unlike the Nebulon Collective, it does not seem as agreeable to amalgamation with other Transcendents. Some speculate that The Admiralty was created by the Absynthium Prelate as a failsafe, in the even the Nebulon Collective goes rogue.

[/div] [div class="mainText indent"]
2e4ed7e5b859fe370664c9bbcb4ab125.jpg
The Monitors - Appellation - Absynthium Prelate, Monitor Class Transcendent. The monitors are the hands and feet of the Nebulon Collective, carrying out its directives even when lightyears apart. Constructed from the consciousness of a particularly exceptional individual, they provide a huge bolster to efficiency and coordination to Absynthium forces in the field, no matter the industry. A single Monitor capable of commanding a large squad of Ancillas and making each one act as part of a large collective unit. To observe such coordinated actions would strike fear in any who dared oppose it. However should the Monitor fall, Absynthium cybernetic forces suffer keenly, until a new Monitor takes its place. Monitors in their own right, are no pushovers. When deployed on the field, their cortexes are affixed to Irkanite Chasis', an extremely durable metal. Often they need to be overwhelmed and overpowered, then their Cybernetic Cortex crushed to ensure complete destruction. The Admiralty has its own share of Monitors, often placed at the head of Capital Starships.

Absynthium Watch - Appellation - Absynthium Prelate, human. Though the larger majority of the Absynthium Prelate's forces are cybernetic, they still employ humans on the front. Albeit in a minor capacity. Used primarily in diplomatic missions, they are a decently skilled but well equipped force. Nonetheless, if things get too hairy they often fallback to allow their more expendable machines to take the front.

Droids - Appellation - Absynthium Prelate, Ancilla. The primary frontliners of Absynthium operations are the combat droids. Though expendable, they are by far the superior Ancillas especially when compared with that of the other Singularity Worlds. They are capable of functioning to a limited capacity on their own, as they are often commanded by a Monitor or human overseer.

ROUGH COMPARISON OF EINHERJAR PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES IN RELATION TO PEAK HOMO SAPIENS PERFORMANCE THRESHOLDS.
Baseline physique compared with prime homo sapiens male. It is to be noted that the established maximum achievable level of performance for each separate baseline criteria is obtained from an ideal setting. Such narrow focus while ideal in finding out physical thresholds may not be applicable when compared to on-the-grounds situations.

Conversely, Einherjar stress tests and physical capability trials are all completed under reasonable duress and measured appropriately so as to establish practical information of on-the-grounds combat and other such rigorous manoeuvrability standards.

Definition of Standards:
Leap Height - Self explanatory
Strength - A compounded value based on pushing, pulling, carrying variables
Endurance - Period of time during which subject remains fully alert and fully functional in situations of reasonable stress without rest.
Speed - Value of sustained acceleration and subsequent maximum velocity achieved and held for at least five (5) standard seconds.
Reflexes - A compounded value of time required for sensory evaluation, subsequent processing and reaction to external stimulus. As an example, reflexes required to react to and completely negate standard projectiles at 95% success rate is 8 milliseconds.

Baseline Standards:
Leap Height - 1.61 standard meters
Strength - 100 Units
Endurance - 72 standard hours.
Speed - 42.7kmh or 27.8mph
Reflexes - 100 standard milliseconds

Einherjar Standards:
Leap Height - 4.01 standard meters
Strength - 450 Units. Galvode, 890 Units
Endurance - 168 standard hours, two percent drop in efficiency.
Speed - 80kmh or 49.7mph
Reflexes - 25 standard milliseconds. Scrim/Verdact, 14 standard milliseconds. Atunity, 6 standard milliseconds

*ADDITIONAL NOTES*
1. There are no significant physical discrepancies between Einherjar physical genders.
2. Einherjar musculature and bone density appear to not correspond rationally when compared with non-metaphasium augmented bodies in terms of physical capabilities.
3. All Einherjar standard readings are taken from new Class 1 initiates. Class 2s and Class 3s may register higher readings though it is not always the case.
4. Curiously, under intense duress and in an instant of time, Einherjar have been known to trigger a sudden burst in physical capabilities on sheer will alone. However, such a feat is not replicable in standard training conditions, though it is readily apparent from on-the-field surveillance.

Q: How far back can an Einherjar have lived?
They can go pretty far back, though the further you go the more you need to justify their ability to coherently function in an extremely futuristic environment. There are many lost souls who turn up on the shores, but as tough as the assimilation process with Metaphasium is, being able to pass the necessary physical, mental and intelligence aptitude tests are just as necessary. A tribal caveman would simply be overwhelmed and not have the mental fortitude to survive in a place that must look like another dimension to them, if they could even grasp what a dimension is. Even a knight of the dark ages would have terrible difficulty. I would say said knight would be as far back as is realistically possible for a rp character. But he or she would need to be a rare breed of intellect and require years of time just to familiarize and accept everything around them.
