I like to slide between both depending on the characters I'm playing. Usually they come from isolated communities so they're more naïve than the usual hence the idealism. However I also like to play cynical characters who are quite nihilistic.
I often feel like that in some RP's and I think there are several reasons that people who feel they're left out might be because of the following:
1. The person you're roleplaying with doesn't like how you roleplay. This may be because they feel how your character responds is unrealistic or not...
Roleplay for me is to write a character how I want it done and respond to others. I always have this urge to play characters that have their own quirks, a bit odd, or too bold of them.
It also keeps my writing skills at a level I'm comfortable with and helps me remember my grammar and cohesion.
Strength and independence. Even if they were to lose everything, finding the will to live again and make their own decisions is what I admire best. Sometimes they'll need someone to lean on, but if there are none, they'll find a way to persevere.
People who give up after one post. This is starting to worry me.
Forum roleplays require some patience and perseverance. To see a person give up on a roleplay after the first or second post mainly because no one replies, it's...odd. I know roleplays are meant to have fun as a group, but we...
Regarding that, what makes a Special Snowflake these days anyways?
And I can understand being judged. There's often a heavy bias in roleplaying based on the image and sometimes I just want to type the description. But maybe I should walk the walk and just start drawing my characters from here...
These days, I prefer order Rp's. I don't mind waiting, just as long as it's kept alive and people interact with each other. Like there are some rp's where everyone is in their own circle, a newcomer really has to butt in to be part of it.
@Ballerina
Oh those look like nice pics. I'm just...
Eh, I can sorta understand why. I prefer to draw my characters though, and I only end up just using anime pics since everyone else does it. But then, my art style is quite amateur anime xD . Personally, I find it better than using real pictures since I don't like using real photos, it feels...
Do you only play your own gender?
Haha, not exactly. I play both males and females and it doesn't really matter to me. To me, gender can open up some doors and close some as well. And playing one gender can open up some scenes that I think can lead to an aspect of my character developing that...
I know a person who only rp's with one character as well. I think, just like a furry, their rp character is their other self. That character we like to be whatever any situation.
Lol seven paragraphs ordering an omelette is excessive. But I guess this is where preference matters. Like if character was walking down the park, it was sunny, and he was listening to music, it's okay. But if he was really thinking about his past relationships while listening to it, I don't...
I actually wouldn't mind that. I like reading though and I tend to be fast at reading, so I guess that's why I'm not bothered. However, I think post length is irrelevant as long as you have the right amount of words to use to make it interesting. Perhaps long posts are from those who read novels...
Regarding the second one, I have a question. In dA roleplays that I've been in, the starter bears the responsibility of creating the storyline. Everyone else responds to it but never goes too far for fear of godmodding the plot. Does that mean that others can introduce or bring up new info for...
Cacophony - The cacophony of sounds truly made her want to shut off her ears and ban music in the apartment once and for all.
Recalcitrant - The boy's recalcitrant behavior was starting to unnerve her and she had the strong urge to throw him off to the hyenas.
Pulchritudinous - His eyes were...
I started out in yahoo messenger chat (that's where I learned to train and release my terrible oc's then), after that I went to DeviantArt. dA as an rp group is often fun and there are some advantages to it, such as art roleplay. This also meant art had a huge impact to whoever wanted to play...
These are good notes. I came from the dA rp scene, so there's a learning curve I have to get used to again in forum rp's. Art tended to have more influence than writing so a lot of things were allowed in that site (I don't tag since I rarely did them, I should do them now). Also, a lot of the...
