I was once in a group that played as crayons trying to escape a kindergarten classroom. They could talk and moved by rolling around, but it was just for fun, so we mostly hand-waved most issues of "How are they able to speak?" "Can they really smile or frown?" Etc.
But it was a really...
Yeah, and for some reason the writing really annoyed me in that one. And the repetitive coupling got very tedious very fast. But I liked seeing the new people, especially seeing Clan people again.
Same! I don't know if I've met anyone else who knew it.
Ahh, that sounds really cool! I'm finally finishing up The Plains of Passage (after trying at least three or four times... (x ) and I really like the idea of exploring different groups of people and means of survival. If ever you decide to do a RP of a similar nature, will you send me a message...
Very well, then, I'm afraid I must have miscommunicated. My intention was to suggest some specific cases I have seen where differences might be most obvious, not to imply that it was a generalized guideline. At any rate, can take it or leave it. Just trying to help! (:
That's certainly fair; everyone is different. What I mean is, these are some observable differences that may come up and that I've talked about with others. That doesn't mean that it necessarily will be the case, but it might. It really depends on the individual. I would consider them discussion...
Yeah, gender is one of those things that is more of an incidental than a defining character trait. Probably the biggest place where it would make a difference would be in the setting had certain gender norms or whatever, but ultimately it comes down to the individual character's personality and...
Yes! In fact, these are my favorite types of characters. I usually like to choose an idea/trait/concept I'd like to explore with a character that kinda makes up their core. One of my favorite characters at the moment is kinda exploring the hero vs. traitor idea (one person's hero is another's...
I don't know what to call them, but the image in my mind is Samwise Gamgee, so that's what I'm going with. I really love the characters that are in way over their heads, in a situation they're entirely unsuited for, are mortally terrified every step of the way... But still persevere not for...
I think one way to kinda tap on the wall, like you said, would be to use the narrative voice rather than the character itself. What I mean is, instead of having your character address the reader or be aware of being fictional (since, within the world they're living in, they're as real as...
@Jakelad That's actually an interesting idea I hadn't thought about. If the United Kingdom has dragons, then it would make sense for Axis powers to have them as well.
As to the dragons and guns questions...
Yeah, I think something along those lines could work, with specific types of dragons...
Just out of the blue just now, I had an image that I think would make a super cool story at some point! But, right now, that's all it is, just a basic image and nothing else. So, I wanted to mention it here and 1) see if anybody else would be interested in such a story and 2) discuss ideas and...
You might try just giving a basic summary of your characters and ideas, while mentioning that you have more info available for anyone who is interested. That way, readers don't become overwhelmed by the huge amount of information, but they also know you have plenty of stuff to develop together...
I don't know if this would be to everyone's liking, but I can share the process I go through. Maybe it can help a bit.
Something that I find to be helpful is to build a kind of 'skeleton' to start with, then allow other things to be the 'flesh'. (Eww, now that I say it out loud, it sounds a...
Yeah, that's true. But usually it's possible to put at least a little info in it, even if only a basic genre or how many people you're looking for. I know that, when I'm looking through threads, at least, I tend to skip the ones that don't have any information in the title. There's just so many...
Something else that can be useful (seriously, not being sarcastic) is putting some basic information in the title.
"Looking for 1-3 Fandom Partners - Marvel, Star Trek, and Game of Thrones" is more useful than "My 1x1 Search".
A good title is nice, but ultimately not very helpful if it doesn't tell you anything. I know that, when I'm looking for a roleplay, I'm only likely to click on something if 1) something about it strikes me as being familiar or 2) it explains itself in the title. So, for example, while "The...
It sounds like a really cool concept, though it might be hard to keep interest for a whole thing since worldbuilding structure is a bit of a niche genre.
As for which forum it would go in, I believe you'd put it in fantasy because 1) that's where the roleplay will begin and will be the setting...
I use my phone for chatting OOC, checking messages, and reading posts. Especially if it's just a quick thing that I don't want to bother booting up my computer for. But I prefer to use my computer for writing posts or messing with code.
I don't think it's vital for any roleplay, though it can be handy for OOC Chat. Of course, you can also make an OOC thread, but I think Discord is a little better because it allows the conversation to take place in real-time rather than in the leave-a-message-and-wait thing of the threads. As...
