I love the idea of a rival for another player. Keep in mind that all spells come at a cost. I really don't want players to rely on magic to get through the investigation. It should be for flavor and helpful in some situations. It doesn't just come out on the fly like [insert anime here].

Maybe some areas are more magiphobic than others and some are technophobic. Like the world itself doesn’t know which way it wants to develop? Magic and technology don’t work well together
