    Other Roleplay Pet peeves

I have so many that feel recently relevant! Folks who h o a r d threads and scenes they don't actually have time, motivation, or inspiration for. I know it happens to the best of us. I know people can lose inspiration suddenly. I'm specifically talking about people who know they don't care...

    Advice/Help OOC advice needed

This sort of thing honestly makes me feel uncomfortable as well. My most frequent experience with people who behave this way is that they tend to "love-bomb" (the way she's describing in great detail how important this story is to her and how intensely she feels about it) then draw away. I don't...

Viewpoint How do you feel about self-inserts? Is it weird for you or just me?

I won't write with self-inserts, personally. It makes me deeply uncomfortable, because there's just an inherent blurring of that IC/OOC line when I know the other person is using their own likeness or self in lieu of a character. I often see the argument that most/all characters are self-inserts...

    Advice/Help I can't write long responses

Okay. In my post, I simply meant OP shouldn't equate a long post with a better post because that is the way some people define the standard. That is all.

    Exactly. : )

    Advice/Help I can't write long responses

I mean anyone who belittles another person and demands they pack a post with useless filler to make it "better." I'm a fan of the long, detailed posts, myself.

    Advice/Help I can't write long responses

I do want to add --never make a post longer just for the sake of it being long. An RP partner that just wants a bunch of "fluff" to read through isn't worth trying to impress. My posts tend to get out of hand long because I get carried away including my character's thoughts and body language.

    Experiences Minimum Ages (18+ roleplayers)

I feel a lot more comfortable playing with people who are 18+ --in fact, I really prefer 20+ --for reasons you and geeking out described. I don't do a lot of smut, but it's nice to know I don't have to pause and say, "Now, you ARE 18, aren't you?" That just feels creepy. Last night I had the...

Experiences What's your ideal group size/makeup?

I agree with you so much on the group thing, so I won't rehash that, but I do want to add: it feels like with a group, anything can happen. I'm so much less likely to get bored when there's several people involved at the same time. On the age thing, I guess I do care a little bit about age...

    That's really neat!

Other On Werewolf and Lycanthropic Characters

This is a good question. I tend to get tired of any exhausted trope, so, while I do prefer the former example of a werewolf with little self control, it would be sad if everyone played their shifters the same. The latter example feels a little more teen angsty, so I'd be wary of it right off...

    Introduction - Hello

Welcome! I'm always looking for good RP on Discord (but have only officially joined with one group), so if you ever want to get something up and running, you can always advertise to me! Enjoy RPNation!

    Other Is a paragraph enough?

I would really like to see how people handled it, now you've brought it up. I do think a 200 word chat post would be met with a lot of "wtf" from the other characters IC, haha.

    Futuristic Abandoned on Eldritch

I'm liking what I'm seeing so far! Would this RP take place on the forums?

    Other Is a paragraph enough?

Ahhh, I gotcha. I don't think I could handle that, haha. I can absolutely see how it would be appealing, but not my cup of tea. I've seen some roleplays where people make Tumblr blogs for/as their characters and communicate with the other characters only through the blogging format, which I...

    Other Is a paragraph enough?

I definitely can't speak for everyone, but whenever I'm RPing a scene where two characters are literally sitting there talking to one another, I'll do shorter posts. I've never really done just the dialogue, though. I always sprinkle in some action beats and body language. Typically still small...

    My OC

A good premise, since you do point out some strengths and weaknesses. There's not much here to go off, however. Also, her strengths currently outweigh her weaknesses prettily heavily. Asking yourself questions about your own character is often a good way to figure out more about them. How does...

    Other Is a paragraph enough?

My opinion on this matter is very simple: a great writer can say more with a few words than a poor one can with a hundred. That being said, I’d be a little put off if I saw 1 paragraph to my 8 paragraphs, but I’d read it before assuming the other person wasn’t into the RP. Sometimes a small...

Experiences How have you changed as a roleplayer?

I have to say, I am incredibly impressed by role players who write in English as a second language. So many native speakers are terrible at it, and yet here are people writing beautifully in this language who are also fluent in another language. Ya’ll are amazing!
