Oh go ahead! I currently have a few books still to read on my shelf but it will be good to know for after that.

Transmet has aged poorly in a few ways, but damned if it isn't ever more relevant.
Off the top of my head:
Winterglass by Benjanun Sriduangkaew (she also does some quality sci-fi).
The Lies of Locke Lamora, by Scott Lynch (not very new but damn good work).
The Gutter Prayer by Gar Hanrahan (came out last year, solid work, please ignore the fact I've known Gar for about a decade).
Steel Crow Saga by Paul Krueger
The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin (not very new but I don't meet a lot of people who've read it - also it's more sci-fantasy).

Also I can rec some sci-fi, more genre ambiguous stuff, and horror/weird stuff. I'm definitely forgetting some good shit so expect another post at some point.
You can also read my webnovel but it doesn't end properly in the current version and I haven't worked up the enthusiasm to edit and finish it, so it might not actually be good but I like bits of it.

I've read Locke Lamora and I agree great book! Not really that new though.
Also I'm about 50 pages away from finishing the Fifth Season trilogy right now :3
Thanks for the recs I will check them out :)

Transmet was one of the most prescient sci fi narratives of its day, although now most of the things it predicted have already come to pass. XD only thing they got wrong was a journalist with integrity. Ho ho.

Also no shame in recommending authors you know personally.
