I'm fine with useing ingame currency to get lootboxes, but don't punish me for being poor and not shelling out real money to buy in game items.

In gambling you dish out money with out having any idea what cards you're gonna get, or if your playing roulette or craps, what numbers you'll get. It's gambling because the variables are unknown
