I recommend you start a search thread then You have much better chances of finding role players if you do, and you're not breaking the rules that way

No. Do let me clarify. Asking or advertising roleplay outside of the designated area for it is against the rules. This doesn't mean you can't mention the roleplay if the conversation calls for it, simply you can't actively look for roleplayers via, say, the status updates or discussion threads
