Imo Lottmann wasn't referring to plain writing of basically anything, like...lists of what to buy grom the supermarket.
I think he's referring to poetry, creative writing, maybe lyrics. Of course there's the 'necessary writing' (let's just call it like that now), but there's also writing that has a deeper message than what is written in words in it, and i think that's what Lottmann was trying to say here.
