what´s with that reaction?

It's not too unnecessarily complicated to me.

First, you´re not even looking at the exercises I´m talking about. I didn´t say ALL math was unecessarily complicated. Most of it is pretty easy. Some exercises though, are purposely wired to "test your flexibility" and thus take a million steps or you can´t get full marks because you skipped some crap. But the thing is, more steps means more wasted time and more openings for tiny, exercise-ruining mistakes.

But that's the thing about mathematics in the real world. Small mistakes can end up with catastrophic results, like in engineering for example. And the goal of these techniques is to hopefully establish a reliable way to solve a math problem.

That is correct, but in real life not only are you not limited in terms of tools, but you have multiple routes of information and the time you have to solve these things is higher, not mention more likely to be within your field of expertize.

Not exactly true. Construction runs on strict deadlines, and also has to deal with managing allotted financial assets. Also, time is definitely a factor in creating engineering works.

I didn´t say it wasn´t. I said that time was a lot more. An exercise that in school you´d have 20 minutes to solve could be solved over several hours, realistically speaking.

Except that the problems in school are so easy, and wouldn't take an expert 20 minutes to solve. Some of the calculations at the higher levels of math require days to solve.

Yes, expert´s work is harder, but the students have neither have the experience expert´s did, nor do they have the same tools and knowledge, nor do experts have people purposely making solving the problem harder for them

I disagree. I think that problems in schools are generally easy than expert questions. Students at least get a prompt to work off of. And experts usually do, because math questions deal with perfect situations and the real world is hardly perfect. But yeah.

Dude, what are you disagreeing with, I litterally just said "Yes, expert´s work is harder". It is, I am not denying that. But the fact is, students are not experts, and they are being way too limited when it comes to dealing with certain problems.
