Hmmm.  I'm not sure.  I know that they must have Exalted sites out there that can give you more background, but I don't know where they would be.  The system is basically the World of Darkness d10 one that Vampire: the Masquerade uses.  Your target number for a success on the d10 is 7 and higher, and 10's count as two successes, except for damage rolls.

The world is pretty complex, with lots of layers to it.  My game is set to take place in the South and East mostly, so that eliminates the need for much of Creation's background fluff.  I can help out with some answers myself, but I don't know how much you know of the setting and system.  Where can I start?

I'm vaguely familiar with the Masquerade system - never played it myself, but followed the stream of a campaign for some time.

As for the setting, I basically read what I found thus far. Sadly, that's not all that much, that's why I asked - there is a Fandom wiki for the world, but every second link is broken or leads to an empty page; and the non-empty ones don't really give me an idea how the world feels like, or what it would mean to be a Lunar, for example.

From my understanding, they're shapeshifters, once upon a time supporting the Solars (who now seem to be dead, apart from a few that reincarnated recently?). There seems some kind of rebirth to be going on as well with the Lunar. Are you a Lunar by birth? Or are you chosen by her at some point during your life span? Your post seems to indicate the latter, but I'm not quite sure. Is the nature of a Lunar usually similar to the standard werewolf? Since they were generals etc., probably not, at least not all of them. I'm reading things as if they tuned more into beast-like creatures after the Solars died... They were rather warriorlike, doing the dirty stuff for the Solars, right? Are they spellcasters as well? The castes seem to indicate that there are a few more focused on war (full moon), stealth (no moon) and a bunch of manipulative ones...

What is the role of the Lunar right now? Are they hunted? Respected? Outcasts?

This is probably an uncoordinated pile of thoughts - sorry for that. Basically, I'm trying to get an idea of what will be going on...

Lunar Exalts are chosen by Luna herself, the power of the exaltation is a gift given to those that she finds worthy. The old Lunars were both consorts and generals to the Solars in the First Age. They are capable of assuming the shape of any creature that they have consumed the hearts blood of, including insects (with the right Knacks) and even people (also with the right Knacks). The Background called Hearts Blood lets you start with a library of different forms that you have already sampled.

During the First Age, the Solars were slaughtered by the Dragon Blooded and many Lunars that tried to stop them. The other Lunars fled into the Wyld, and have stayed in the fringe of Creation ever since. Normally, when a Lunar fires, the Shard of power is recycled into a new host within a few years. Fire some reason, the Shard of the characters has not been in circulation for almost eight hundred years, back in the days of the Great Contagion and the Fae invasion.

The Great Contagion was a plague that was sweeping the land, killing 9 out of every 10 people. It was just starting to burn itself out when the Fae, creatures of the Deep Wyld, decided to invade and unmake Creation. The Lunars on the edges of Creation fought valiantly, but were outnumbered thousands to one, and they all fell to the advancing horde. It was at this time that the woman that would become the Empress used the most powerful weapon ever devised known as the Sword of Creation and burned the Fae, scorching the flesh from their bones and driving the remnants back into the Wyld.

Now, the Empress has been missing for the past five years, and no one knows where she is. This also means that the Sword of Creation is now unable to be used, since only the Empress knew how to access the manse that I'd the control room of the great weapon.
