Never saw the anime, I kinda started stocking the manga in chapter 300 or so and returned when it ended... it took me 3 days to finish.

No Idea. Maybe to flesh out the character or to build up lore or to give some kind of backstory for said character for what they're doing or some shit, but imo it's still a good anime even with the pointless eps.
