"It is from nothing that we have come forth, and it is to nothing that we shall return."
"Now stopping at Nerowan Station. Please let the passengers alight first before boarding the train. Thank you."

The speakers rang the same message over and over again as you hopped off the train, bringing along your two luggage bags with you. Upon stepping onto the station's platform, you hurriedly headed towards the exit. Although you had two large bags, not to mention a backpack strapped on you, it seemed as if you were traveling light, when it is the exact opposite. After tapping your train card onto the detector, you continued to rush out of the train station, and headed towards a nearby waiting shed.

On your left wrist was a smartwatch, and it was pinging loudly. On the screen, the words "Dorm Check-in" were constantly flashing and fading away. You occasionally took glances on it, until a cab arrived.

The driver lowered the car's window, and glared at you with interest.

"Um, I'm headed to this dorm.", you said, as you handed over a small brochure to the driver.

He nodded, and asked you to hop in. Of course, you immediately did so, and as expected, you brought your bags with you in the back seat. "I'm in a hurry, so if you could go faster than usual that'd be great.", you said as you closed the door. The driver, looking through the rear-view mirror, nodded upon hearing your words.

The very moment the door was shut tight, the driver asked you to buckle in. You did so without hesitation. And as soon as you were strapped in and ready, the car zoomed away from the waiting shed. Surprised by the sudden burst of speed,
you covered your mouth to avoid an embarrassing scream. The car weaved through the nightly traffic in the crowded town of Nerowan.

It only took you about three to four minutes to get to your destination - a school dorm run by an aspiring businessman, which is called Henry's Private Dormitory for Akasha Students, or simply HPD. You paid the driver the appropriate fare, and even added in a small tip for the exemplary service. The driver smiled and waved goodbye, then his car zoomed off again to the distance.

Now, in front of the dorm, you took a good look at the building. And with the moon's brilliant light, the establishment was revealed to be of a classy grandeur, while still remaining a natural dormitory appearance. You would have remained there, if not for your smartwatch, which began to ping noisily once more. On the screen, the words "Dorm Check-in" and "Prepare for First Day" flashed on and off.

Seeing this, you remembered that tomorrow was going to be your first day in school - the renowned Akasha Institute. You specifically chose to transfer here due to its rising fame for providing quality education, and because you availed a full-time scholarship easily here, compared to other high-end school. That, and you were running out of time for the check-in time of the dorm. Yes, believe it or not, this seemingly sophisticated dorm has rules and regulations, and one of those is that failing to check-in on time would make you homeless for a night, or maybe even more.

Thus, you rushed in, dragging your bags with you. You burst through the doors, forcing them to open loudly as you hurried towards the reception counter. Once you arrived, you are greeted by a strange man, dressed in blue.

"Good evening, miss. How may I help you?", he said.

"I'm here to check in. I believe I have made a reservation for a suite-styled room.", you answered him.

"You almost got cut off by the deadline!", he said with a gentle smile. "Lucky you."

"Yes. Can I have my keys, please?", you said.

"Oh.", he replied. "Your name please?"

"It is from nothing that we have come forth, and it is to nothing that we shall return."
"It's Kanna Hirayabashi.", you answered.

"Okay.", the man in blue said, and started to press buttons on the keyboard. "Let me check the registry." His eyes were focused towards the computer's screen. Silence, then, filled the air for a short while.

In that period, you looked around, patiently waiting for the results of his search. Taking a look around, the dormitory seemed to appear like a renowned hotel - there was a grand chandelier hanging at the middle of the lobby, there were various seats to relax and kill time in, and several way to get to the upper floors such as elevators and escalators, but never stairs.

Of course, there was also the reception counter, where you were standing in front of. And upon taking a good look at it,
you eventually placed your attention upon the strange man dressed in blue. His hair was abnormally white, and his eyes were of a brilliant yellow color. You begin to wonder just what kind of person he is, until he finally called out your name.

"Ah, there we are. Kanna Hirabayashi, Room 19.", he said. He, then, stood up and searched the large wall full of drawers behind him, until he came to the one labeled with the number nineteen. He opened it, and grabbed the items inside. He placed them on the desk before you shortly after.

You glanced at the two items he took from the drawer - a gold key with the number 19 engraved on its head, and a velvet-colored key. He, then, asked you if you would like to have your bags carried up to your room, and you gladly accepted the offer. After lifting the bags with ease, he went to the service elevator and headed up to the 19th room.

Remembering that you were in a hurry, you grabbed the two keys. However, you felt something strange when you grabbed that velvet key. You opened your palm, trying to see what caused such a sensation, but to your surprise, the velvet key was no longer in your hand. Only the golden room key was left there.

"Must be just my imagination.", you mumble to yourself, as you headed towards the main elevator.

Once inside the elevator, you saw that there were buttons for 10 floors, not counting the lobby and the rooftop. This made you remember that each floor only houses two rooms, granting the residents a whole lot more space compared to usual dormitories. You were glad that you chose this place to stay in, knowing that pretty much everything has been looking excellent so far.

You pressed the button for the tenth floor, and the elevator rose to the said destination quickly. Well, that was expected since pretty much nobody would need to use the elevator at the current time. When the elevator finally stopped rising to the tenth floor, and its doors opened, you immediately took a step outside and headed to your room. After all, your smartwatch was beginning to ping once more. It did not take a while for you to arrive before your door.

Without any hesitation, you entered your room. What welcomed you was a grand sight, a wide area and well-maintained furniture and appliances, enough to rival well-known 5-star hotels throughout the world. You took a quick look around, and saw your bags at the corner, near the cabinets and the dresser. You halted your smartwatch's pinging and decided to go to sleep without changing.

And so it begins...
Now, deep in your sleep, you awaken within your dream. There was nothing but pure darkness. You could not see anything, nor could you feel anything. But amidst this seemingly blank dream were faint, distorted voices addressing you questions.

Very well. I hope you do find what you desire somewhere out there.

I might be wrong, but I assume you don't know how quest logs work, which led to you hoping that this would be somewhat similar to a regular group RP. In such case, I shall inform you.

Quest Logs (QLs) are not group RPs, and yet at the same time, they technically are. A QL require's what most group RPs would need - a GM to facilitate the plot, players to partake in the story, and of course, a story worth one's time.

However, the difference between the two is that the players, AKA you, don't get to write, instead the GM does all of the writing. They are responsible for breathing life into the world, the characters, and everything within the story. They are in near-absolute control of the QL's story.

But you might wonder, if such is true, then why bother having players at all?

The answer is rather simple. Because QLs are interactive stories. Just like visual novels, and choose-your-own-adventure books. The players/readers are given the ability to influence the story without investing much effort, through simply voting from a set number of options, or an option to create their own option.

With that said, almost every QL I've seen on the site so far has followed such trend. The players themselves cannot control anything, but their decisions affect the entire story. Meaning, every sentence, phrase, or even a single word that the majority of the players/readers chose will decide the fate of the story - what happens to the main character/s, what occurs on the next story post, what twists and turns the character and the readers will encounter in the future.

So, even mere three words can mean life and death, should the writer/GM of the QL decide to do so. But players/readers don't come for the random outcomes based on choices, they come for a good story, told in the eyes of a character that shall represent them. They come for a memorable reading and writing experience.

"It is from nothing that we have come forth, and it is to nothing that we shall return."
You wake up the following day, early in the morning. For some apparent reason, you had no recollection of your strange dream last night. The sound of your smartwatch's alarm has been ringing for the past two minutes now, until you decided to shut it off. You took a short glimpse at it, and saw that it's already past six.

You rose from your bed, and rushed to the bathroom. As expected, bathing in warm water is refreshing. After a few minutes, you wrap yourself in a towel and left the bathroom. Your next step in your morning routine was to dress up, and then eat breakfast. If there was still extra time left, you plan to unpack your stuff and place them in their respective locations and containers. As you head to where your bags are, you hear knocking, coming from your door.

You approached it, and tried to take a peek through door viewer, while you spoke out loud. "Who is it?", you asked.

"Complimentary breakfast, ma'am.", the voice responded.

Finally getting a quick glimpse of who was outside, you saw that it was a hotel staff, with a tray of food atop his cart. But you did not expect a complimentary breakfast, and this made you doubt it. "I think you have the wrong room.", you said. "I didn't book for a room with a complimentary breakfast."

The man shuffled his front pocket, and checked a piece of paper. "Apparently, ma'am, it says here that you have a complimentary breakfast today.", he said. "Here ma'am, you can see it for yourself." He slipped the paper through the mail slot of the door, causing to fall inside your room.

You picked it up, and saw that what he was saying was actually true. On the piece of paper was a document printed yesterday, with your name and room number on it, and beneath the list of information such as room type and whatnot, were the words 'complimentary breakfast every morning'.

How will you answer?
"Very well. Come in."
"Please wait a moment."
"I don't think this is right."

"It is from nothing that we have come forth, and it is to nothing that we shall return."
"Leave it outside.", you said to him. Although it did sound a bit arrogant, that was the best option you chose. You couldn't allow him to enter the room, for you're merely in your bathing robe and your room's still quite a mess. Having a stranger enter your room in such a condition is not beneficial for a young woman's reputation, especially if that stranger is a man. And denying free food is wasting an easy opportunity.

Of course, the man complied with your command. After all, you had every right to deny him entry onto your room. He pushed the cart to the side of the door, and left it there, along with the tray of food, which came with a bundle of the day's newspaper and monthly magazines. If that didn't speak of high quality service, then what else could be?

The man knocked on your door one last time, and spoke. "The complimentary breakfast is just beside the door, ma'am. Enjoy the rest of the day."

"Thank you.", you answered. The man nodded, then left to the elevator.

With that done, you dressed yourself up with the school's uniform. You strapped your smartwatch on your wrist and checked the time. It was now ten minutes past seven in the morning. You still had enough time to consume your complimentary breakfast, after all, the school starts at eight thirty. So, you decided to retrieve the food from outside your room. You took the tray, and the reading materials that came with it, inside the room, and plopped them down on the table at your room's mini-lounge.

You sat down on the chair before the table, and began to munch down on the delicious breakfast. It had a small bowl of varied fruits, there were toasted slices of bread and the american classic, bacon and eggs. There were two drinks, one was a average-sized cup filled with freshly and delicately brewed coffee, and the other was a tall glass containing a mixture of orange and pineapple juice. As you luxuriously fed yourself, you thought about getting some form of entertainment.

What do you do?
Turn on the television.
Read the newspaper.
Read a random magazine.

"It is from nothing that we have come forth, and it is to nothing that we shall return."
You grabbed a random magazine from the tiny pile. It was just another one of those popular magazines which seems to focus on discussing the current trends in various fields. You read it, though not thoroughly, as you ate your breakfast. While reading this magazine, you feel a bit more confident about yourself.

A few minutes later, you were full, and done with the said magazine. Thus, you dropped it back onto the pile, and took the food tray to return it outside.

After doing that, you went back inside your room and checked the contents of your bag. Fortunately, you have everything you need in there - a notebook, a pen, and some books. You checked your smartwatch and saw that you should get going by now, since it was already 7:30 AM. You strapped your bag, took your room key, then locked the door as you headed out. The elevator ride was just as quick yesterday, so it did not occupy much of your time.

The only thing left was how you will get to Akasha Institute. Since it is your first time in here, you decided to go to the reception counter and ask for help. Surprisingly, the strange man dressed in blue is no longer there, but a new receptionist - a woman dressed in the hotel's staff black uniform.

"May I help you?", she asked you as you arrived on the counter.

You were dazed in confusion for a short moment. "Oh. Uh.", you said, flustered. "Do you know how to get to Akasha Institute?"

"Of course, ma'am.", she replied. "You can take a cab from our front door, or utilize the town's subway system. We have a shortcut leading to the nearest station, if you want to take the train. However, if you wish to walk, I can give you a map of the town instead."

Your Charisma has increased.

How will you go to school?
Take a cab.
Take the train.
Walk.
