Duel Monsters. It's a game everyone knows and loves. It is a part of everyday life, as common as anything and found in almost every household. In fact, Duel Monsters is a very important part of life; hundreds of millions stake their livelihood on the ever-evolving game, each hoping to be the one who takes it to a new level and strike it rich. Many of these people work with the game itself, creating new cards every day or working to improve how the game itself is played, and many more make a living by playing the game itself, training and hoping to become the next superstar in dueling. Regardless of what path they walk in life, the game of Duel Monsters plays a large role in many peoples' lives.
The game of Duel Monsters contains thousands of different cards, allowing for thousands of different strategies. Of course, some cards are rarer than others; while one card may be found in every deck, in every store window and in every collection, some may only have a few printed copies worldwide. Of all these thousands of cards, however, one line is much, much more rare than any other card ever seen. These cards are known as Number cards.
It is said that only one copy of every Number card has ever existed, and that they contain a power that cannot be matched by any other card in existence. In fact, they are so powerful that it is said the cards are capable of causing real damage. Rumor even has it that these cards are alive, and can drive anyone that carries them insane...
Naturally, this has attracted the attention of many duelists, some because they want to propel themselves through the professional dueling scene, others because they wish to collect these rarest of cards, and others still because they want to study them. Regardless of reason, thousands are vying for these incredibly powerful cards. Some have even formed groups to hunt them down.
Of these groups, three have stood out above the rest. They are known as the Thug Kings, a group of roughnecks and lawbreakers who hunt the Numbers for their own benefit, the Number Hunters United Agency, or NHUA, a government-funded branch of worldwide law enforcement who hire strong trainers to hunt down Numbers and prevent them from falling into the wrong hands, and the mysterious Grevix Family, whose connection to the Numbers is known only by themselves. Currently, all three groups are situated in the city of Sycniac, Japan, said to be the epicenter for all Number-related activity.
However, the Numbers haven't only caught the eye of the human race; two alien species, the Astrals and Barians, who reside in different dimensions entirely, have been working in the shadows, gathering intelligence and Number cards themselves for reasons totally unknown as they prepare for an all-out war against one another and against the human race...
This is where you come in. You are one of the aforementioned Number Hunters, and your job is to hunt and collect Numbers using any method available to you, no matter the cost.
So, Hunter, what will you do? Do you fight for the Thug Kings, the NHUA, the Grevix Family, or yourself? Will you hunt down members of your rival factions and steal away their Number cards? Will you study these mysterious and powerful cards in order to better understand them? Will you unite the three factions and defeat the looming and yet unknown threat of the Astrals and Barians, or will mankind be swept away in an interdimensional war? It's all up to you, young Hunter...

~RPNation rules apply for this RP. I shouldn't even need to say this, really.
~ This is, technically, a Roleplay about a war, despite being based off YuGiOh. Expect blood, death, poorly written romance and swearing, though do try to keep it PG-13.
~We will be using the most recent Banlist for the RP.
~There is only one of each Number card. If you really want a Number that someone else already has, find them and duel for it.
~While you can enter using your super-powered tournament deck, I would recommend using a deck that you truly enjoy using, whether it's considered "meta" or not. It'll make the RP a much better experience.
~We will be using PM or the OOC chat if anyone wishes to plan-out duels with one another from start to finish since there are some of us that can't use sites or downloads to help do things that way. I expect everyone to be mature about this and don't whine or complain if you lose the duel. Or try to change it so you win if you've already talked about loosing the duel.
~To prove you read the rules, put the name of one of the Yu-Gi-Oh TV show's main protagonists in the Other section of your form.
~If you want to start with multiple Numbers, make sure you give a good reason for it. Otherwise, everyone will start with at most one Number. You don't have to start with one, though.
~For now, I'm putting a three character limit per person. This might change later, so keep an eye open.
~Also, please no godmodding, powerplaying, you know, things of that nature. Though this should go without saying that it wouldn't be tolerated in this RP at all. As well as controlling other people's characters. You control yours, everyone else control's there. Small things are okay, such as grabbing them and dragging them off somewhere, but don't do anything huge, okay?
~I would prefer you use proper grammar and spelling in your replies. No text talk or anything like that. I would also prefer if you could write at least a paragraph or more in your reply. No one-liners.
~Last but certainly not least, have fun! That's what this is all about, after all.
