Anime & Manga The Big O

Roger Smith

Cast in the name of God, Ye not guilty.
Hello everyone!

I understand that RPN has quite a few fans of anime/manga/etc. I prefer the mecha genre myself, which is why i'm here. As a kid i'd sometime stay up late and watch adult swims anime block when they played Cowboy bebop, Trigun, ghost in the shell. There was one that always stuck me it's theme song would periodically rattle around in my head and up recently i hadn't seen the series in it's entirety.

I'm talking about Big O

Big O was made by Sunrise inc. The same folks responsible for OG Gundam, and Cowboy Bebop which might explain why Steve Blum was used to voice the protagonist in Big O.

Big O follows the events of a negotiator named Roger Smith who lives and works in the city of Paradigm. Paradigm city is often referred to as the city of amnesia, forty years prior to the events of the show every human and every android that lived there collectively lost all memory of what happened before that. It would seem that the events of forty years ago brought about the end of the world as Paradigm city is the only thing that was left, well that and something else. A technology left behind by the people of forty years ago. They're giant monolithic ironclad robots known as megadeus's. A megadeus is very different that other mechs that appeared in anime around that time. It was fast or possessed ninja like speed. It was a towering giant of iron and steel that use old-school weaponry like missiles and machine guns and heavy duty piston arms for melee combat.

As such is the case memories are very valuable to certain people. The Paradigm corporation is the ruling body of paradigm city and it's leaders are actively seeking the memories that lay dormant in certain residents in Paradigm.they want to use the mechs to trigger the events of forty years ago to bring about the destruction of the rest of the world and reshape it how they feel fit.

when these mechs run wild Roger smith rises to the occasion in his megadeus a special archetype known as Big O, as such he serves as the city's protector much like what batman is to gotham.

I'm going to include a link to where you can watch the series, the wiki if you want to have more information, a smaple of the fantastic music used in the show, and a piece of artwork showing off the main cast. If you're interested in a RP in the world of Big O, or youe interested in checking i tout i'd very much appreciate a comment left behind as i'm trying to get an RP going.

I remember when I first watched Big O, the art style reminded me of Batman the Animated Series and Batman Beyond. I was a kid when I watched it, and so I thought it was the coolest thing.

Later on, I discovered that Roger Smith was indeed voiced by my favorite English voice actor, one Mr. Steve Blum, who also played Spike in Cowboy Bebop--which happens to be one of my absolute favorite anime classics.

I very much so support Big O love. =w= b

you're the first person ever to comment on one of my posts about Big O I thank thee

YOOO BIG O WOOOOOO!!!!

I remember watching the series on the same Adult Swim anime block along with the endless reruns of Cowboy Bebop and Trigun lol. Its the first mecha anime I have ever seen, also like the first noire-type setting and theme for me too.
