Fantasy Survival of the Fittest: Relentless Hunt

Eric Rylan

Alpha

Eric laughed scornfully. "Don't mock me," he scoffed. "You'll try to attack me as soon as I demanifest. You Hunters must think us so easy to fool." Though the Alpha tried to keep any sign of it out of his face, he was considering marching the prisoner back to the cabin. But the Hunters could be setting up an ambush there. Besides, why would he do that, when he had the Hunter girl right in front of him? No, this looked too much like a trick. And the Hunter needed to learn a little respect.

The Alpha opened his maw, letting loose a short burst of flame at the ground in front of the Hunter. "You will tell me what I want to know!" he demanded, his patience wearing thin. "Do not try to stall any further!"

Cyrus Jaeger

Son of Lead Hunter

Cyrus cursed mentally. Luna was being smart, trying to lure the Draki into a better position for an attack, but he wasn't going for it. Unless...was Luna really going to leak Hunter information? No, of course not. Cyrus rebuked himself for thinking of it. Luna would die before giving up secrets.

Hopefully, she wouldn't have to. Cyrus quickly tried to think of a way to get Luna's attention without alerting the Draki to his presence. He was beginning to feel a bit of panic set in. It had been months since he had seen his sister. She didn't look so good; no injuries, but she seemed to have been underfed. She didn't seem to need medical attention, but she might not be able to sustain a long fight. As much as Cyrus wanted to try and take down the Alpha, it was probably for the best to quickly get Luna out of there. He quickly beeped his comms, hoping that his father was already nearby.

Cyrus took a bit of the black powder and ignited it with a flint. A small stream of smoke appeared. Hopefully, it was enough for Luna to notice.

"What am I going to attack you with? I have no weapon and in case you hadn't noticed I'm exhausted, I don't have the strength to fight a grown man and win. You saw to that by not giving me enough to eat and keeping me locked up in a small room for three months. I'm not stupid enough to start a fight I can't win and I don't think you're easy to fool, I'm not trying to fool you, but I did think you had better negotiating skills."

Luna jumped back as the Draki shot out a burst of flames on the ground in front of her feet. As she did she noticed a tiny bit of smoke behind the Alpha. Cyrus. He was here. She needed to keep the Draki's attention on her for a little bit longer. "Fine. I already told you my name is Shade. I became a hunter because my mother was murdered by Draki. I have no other family. I occasionally work with other hunters, we have a common goal after all." Her expression was tired and sad, it hurt to think of her mother. Luna didn't tell the whole truth to the Draki, she knew that the best lies had the truth woven through them and she was an expert liar. "There I gave you some information and I'll tell you more when you are not on the verge of toasting me like a marshmallow."

Eric Rylan

Alpha

Eric glared at the Hunter girl suspiciously. It was very likely that she was attempting to throw him off his guard, but he wouldn't fall for it. When she mentioned a bit of her past, the Alpha became enraged. "Draki do not murder!" he roared. "It is you, the Hunters, who kill and destroy my kind! Any misery that you get is well-deserved!" How dare this insolent girl accuse the Draki of such a crime! They simply wanted to be left in peace, but were being hunted to near extinction. If the Hunter's mother was indeed killed by a Draki, it was because she tried to harm a Draki.

Eric advanced on the girl. She had tried his patience for too long. He would get revenge on the Hunters for imprisoning those earth Draki, and for murdering his father. The Alpha breathed in the oxygen around him, preparing to let lose a incinerating blast of flame. His rage made him oblivious to the preparations being made behind him.

Cyrus Jaeger

Son of Lead Hunter

He could wait no longer; that Draki was about to make a Luna-shaped piece of barbecue. Cyrus quickly tossed the rest of the powder towards the Alpha and ignited it, creating a cloud of thick black smoke that enveloped much of the immediate area. Breathing slowly through the air filter in his mask, Cyrus made his way through the smoke, using his thermal vision to evade the Draki. He didn't have long, so he needed to keep focused, push the fear into a little box in the corner of his mind. As soon as the Draki noticed the distraction, Cyrus sprinted towards Luna, grabbing her hand and carefully pushing her towards the parking lot. "Run," he said, trying to keep his voice neutral. "We'll get out in the open where he can't follow us." Cyrus didn't want to mention that their destination was a good while away, but he was definitely thinking it.

"LH," he said into his comms. "If you're there, I hope you're nearby."

Eric Rylan

The Draki could smell the smoke before he could see it. It seeped into his lungs, blocking the flow of oxygen. Eric coughed and spun around, using the air he had breathed in to exhale a stream of flame in the direction of the source of the smoke. It was then that he realized his mistake. Roaring with frustration, he turned around again, digging his claws into the ground, and rumbled after the Hunters.

Luna Jaeger

Luna held onto Cyrus' hand tightly as she ran in the direction he was leading her. She used to be one of the fastest runners in her family but now she was having a hard time keeping pace with her brother. Her free arm was covering her mouth to avoid any smoke but she had breathed in a small amount. It burned her throat and she fought the urge to erupt into a coughing fit knowing there wasn't time for something like that. There was so much she wanted to say to her twin but it would have to wait until they were in the clear. Right now she could hear the Draki behind them trampling through the forest even more angry then before.

The longer they ran the harder it was for her, she just didn't have the strength. Seeing her brother right in front of her made her keep going, they were so close to freedom. "How much farther?" she said in between shaky breaths. "Are we going to make it?" Luna didn't dare look behind her, the sound of the Draki was loud enough that she knew he was right behind them. She could feel the heat from his breath on her heels. This was going to either be disastrous or a very close call. Branches scratched at her arms and legs, pulled her hair, and hit her in the face, one cutting her cheek. It stung and she could tell it was bleeding but it didn't matter, there was no stopping only pushing further ahead.

If this was a movie Luna thought the two would probably come to a cliff and have to jump off into a river or something. This was real life though and Luna really hoped that Cyrus knew where they were going. She couldn't deal with any more life threatening surprises, not on top of the furious death with wings chasing them.

Crystal nodded, following her sister Cerise. She was worried about her father. She knew he could go over his head, and that bothered her. She wanted to be able to help her dad in whatever situation he was in, but knew she wouldn't be much help without water. She sighed, and shook off these dark, gloomy thoughts. Their father would do fine, especially since he was an Alpha!

She trusted him enough to do what he had to. Just don't go over board... She thought as she kept walking. She wished she could telepathically talk to her father, but that was out of the question. She had to be faithful.

Sid followed the girls quietly and at a steady pace, he had wished he had brought something to do, or at the very least his father had taken him with. Now all he had to do was watch is sisters and hope nothing bad happens, all the while keeping calm and acting normal. Sid highly doubted any hunters would attack in a public place but there was always a small chance someone could. he had enough fighting practice and any time he had to defend himself and or his sisters he would do it immediately.

Cyrus Jaeger

Son of Lead Hunter

Cyrus chance a look back at his sister. She seemed to be getting weaker, and her face had been cut by a stray branch. They would have to stop to rest soon, and from Cyrus's mental map, they still had a ways to go. The young Hunter cursed under his breath (he seemed to be doing a lot of that recently). The Draki was slowly gaining on them. Despite his lumbering speed, the Alpha obviously had been training; it was moving much more quickly than one would think for a being of his size. Cyrus reached into his bag and felt around for a particularly textured vial. When he found it, he took it out and gripped it in his hand. A short, slippery edge was coming up to their left. He would need to time this perfectly.

"Get ready to slide to the left," he told Luna, gripping her hand. She would need to be prepared for the drop. Otherwise, she could hurt herself by hitting a rock or a fallen branch. Cyrus heard the Draki inhale, preparing to release a stream of fire. "NOW!" Cyrus shouted, quickly throwing the vial and darting sharply to the left. He slid down the slope, carefully maneuvering himself through the leafy decline. As soon as his feet touched the floor, he took cover behind a large log and checked to make sure Luna was still with him.

Eric Rylan

Alpha

Stupid, stupid. Eric should have known better than to let loose an inferno directly at the running Hunters, but his anger had blinded him once again. Something that one of the Hunters had thrown had exploded upon ignition, causing a couple of dry trees to catch ablaze, distracting him. The Alpha called upon the elemental energy of the rogue flame, willing it to dissipate harmlessly into the air. It took major concentration--spreading that much heat over a large enough area for it to neutralize wasn't easy--but at least the whole forest hadn't caught fire. Eric had briefly considered burning the whole area down, but it wasn't worth the potential suspicion. Besides, he'd have to destroy and rebuild the cabin, and that took time and money. No, he would just have to continue pursuing the Hunters on foot.

...If only he could see them. Eric peered around. No sign of the Hunters, and he couldn't hear them running. Had they perished? Unlikely. Perhaps they were just staying quiet. "Show yourself, cowards!" he mocked. As the norm for someone who had just been embarrassed by a failure, Eric couldn't resist boasting a little. "If you surrender now, I'll allow you to be a part of the Dragons' reckoning!" A little unwise to be showing his hand, the Alpha would admit, but he wanted nothing more than to make the Hunters know fear, if they even knew what he was talking about.

Alex

Reaching the top of the short flight of steps, he stopped for a moment and surveyed his surroundings. He had no idea what exactly who he was looking for, but the search for someone somewhat familiar continued. As fun as solitude was sometimes, he didn't want to be completely alone the entire time. Friends, or even acquaintances, had to exist; somewhere in the world. After a moment of seeing no one of interest, Alex shoved his hands into his pockets and wandered indoors. There were a ton of people showing up all of a sudden, and he didn't feel like getting trampled by the parent-student mob that would appear any second now.

He had a bit more luck when inside of the confines of Hell--sorry, School. Familiar faces were everywhere, although almost none he actually cared about. Well, it was more of he knew what people looked like, but just didn't know their names. The Draki wandered for a little longer before hitting the jackpot.

The Rylan kids; aka, the children of their Alpha. He was allowed to talk to them, right? There wasn't some kind of law that prevented the "peasant" Draki, such as himself, from interacting with the more "royal" sort, right?

(@Ashaficent @MoltenLightning @Kurai Okami )

Crystal felt compelled to search the area for someone they knew, as to be less suspicious. Glancing around, she took in her surroundings quickly. Her eyes fell upon Alex, another Draki. Finally, someone we know who won't try to kill us! She thought enthusiastically as she walked over to him.

He seemed to be in deep thought, so when she approached,

"Hi!"

Were the words that escaped her mouth. This might have been startling to him, as she knew she was a higher class, but she didn't think lowly of anyone. She just smiled and waited for a response.

She thought of any Draki as an equal, except her father and siblings. They were higher than her by any means, and she respected that. She knew her place.

Luna Jaeger

Daughter of Lead Hunter

There wasn't time to ask Cyrus what his plan was so when he said "NOW" Luna went left. She tumbled down the slope hitting a few rocks on the way down. When she was finally at the bottom she quickly and quietly followed her twin behind the fallen log. Cyrus looked back to her, probably making sure she made it, and she had. Besides the cut on her cheek there was a nasty looking bruise and gash on her forehead right at her hairline. It was bleeding and Luna felt a little light headed but it was nothing she couldn't handle. She knew as soon as she had knocked that guard unconscious that there was no way to get out of this mess unscathed.

Ignoring the pain she used hand movements to ask Cyrus what to do next. Luna heard the furious fire Draki yelling at them. He was saying things she didn't understand. She mouthed 'Dragons' Reckoning?' to her brother wondering if he had heard that term before. She didn't know how long they could hide here undetected. Should they wait it out and hope the Draki gave up and went away? If they waited too long maybe he would call for backup... They were stuck between a rock and a hard place almost literally.

Luna couldn't help but notice that Cyrus looked in good shape compared to herself. He must have been training extra hard since she had been gone. She smiled because she realized he had probably been getting ready to rescue her from the Draki cabin. She took a quiet but deep breath and signed, 'I can distract him while you make a run for it? One of us should get out of this mess alive.' She didn't know if the Alpha would kill them for sure. Her choice in words earlier had set him off but if she was more careful this time she might be able to convince the dragon that she was more valuable alive than dead.

Cyrus Jaeger

Son of Lead Hunter

No! Cyrus signed vehemently. It's too dangerous. He won't listen to you this time. Cyrus had waited far too long for the right opportunity to get Luna out of Draki hands; he wouldn't leave her now. His twin had taken some damage in the tumble. She would need light medical attention. Cyrus had some healing tonics in his bag, but they needed to get out of immediate danger before he could use it. The Hunter tried to steady his breathing. The adrenaline rush was beginning to wear off, and he was starting to feel some of the.

Ow. Yeah, that was going to sting. Cyrus hadn't realized it until now, but his right shoulder had been singed by the burst of flame. His sleeve had been burned off, but the flames seemed to have been put out when he slid against the ground. That didn't mean the pain was any easier to deal with, but it could have been worse. Besides, Cyrus didn't want to complain about it knowing what his sister had been going through.

Dragons' reckoning? Cyrus wondered. It sounded familiar. Something he had read when going through the Hunter archives? If he got out of this in one piece, he'd have to check, but for now, he just filed it away in his mind. What was he going to do? He wasn't too sure how good an Alpha's hearing was, but the crunch of the forest leaves made it difficult to sneak around. If only I had a flashbang Cyrus thought ruefully. Then he got an idea. He quickly took out one of his pistol magazines and emptied out the bullets, tossing them a distance away. Then he lit a fallen branch with his flint and placed the small fire on the bullets. Start walking, he signed to his sister. Keep your head down and stay behind cover. When you hear the gunshots, start running in a zig-zag. Cyrus went first, carefully creeping from cover to cover, trying to keep a tree or a boulder between himself and the bullets. This is probably the second dumbest thing I've ever done, he thought.

Eric Rylan

Alpha

Eric was just about to consider demanifesting and calling the other Draki when he heard the rustle of the leaves. He spun around, searching for the source of the noise. Ah! There. The foolish Hunters were on the move, some yards away. The Alpha watched them carefully. He was a bit suspicious, looking around for any sign of an ambush or a trap. The longer he pursued them, the more chance there was for more Hunters to show up. And even Eric, as powerful as he was, could not hold off several Hunters by himself.

That's he heard the gunshots. Hunters! Eric's head whipped in the direction of the sound. He couldn't see who was firing, but that didn't mean that no one was there. A stray shot skimmed the edge of his wing. The Draki hissed in pain and fired a couple of short bursts of flame towards the sound. Quickly changing positions, Eric circled his target until the shots stopped. Thinking that the firing Hunter was reloading, Eric charged. But there was nothing there. A trick? Or was there very real danger nearby? There was a small flame on the floor that the Alpha assumed that he had caused, so he put it out. Eric gazed around. He couldn't see the fleeing Hunters, though he could hear the soft rustle of leaves. But he was seriously considering retreating. He had already spent too much time out, and the Hunters might have already figured out the location of the cabin. He needed to move all Draki supplies to the alternate location. Eric didn't like the idea of leaving his prey, but he had to think about what was good for his Pride.

Even if it hurt his pride.

...Eric thought his children would be proud of him for that one.

Luna Jaeger

Daughter of Lead Hunter

Luna had already known what Cyrus' answer would be because she wouldn't have let him distract the Draki either. That was the way things were with the twins, together or not at all. They would rather go down together than know they failed at protecting each other. She noticed her brother's burned shoulder as he did. It looked painful and Luna felt bad that he was rescuing her when it happened. She knew though had their positions been reversed she would have done the same thing and if he had waited for backup to arrive she would be a pile of ash right now.

Luna watched closely as Cyrus began to put a plan in motion. She was fascinated by the way his mind worked, buzzing away calculating and engineering plans and gadgets in a way she never could. Her strengths were in combat and stealth... or they used to be at least. She nodded her head to let him know she understood what he wanted her to do.

The minute she heard the first shot ring through the air Luna took off as fast as she could running in a zigzag pattern the way Cyrus had instructed her to. She tripped on branches and rocks a few times but got up and kept going. This was a crazy plan. A last desperate attempt kind of plan. A stray bullet could kill them just as good as a Draki could.

The forest was beginning to thin out and Luna realized that they were almost out of the woods... literally. There was just a little further to go and the Alpha wouldn't be able to follow, at least not in his current form. The hunter girl started to slow down out of breath and exhausted, she couldn't even tell if the Draki was still chasing them anymore. She came to a stop behind a tree listening to the sound of the forest around her. She could only hear the sounds from the nearby cars just outside the treeline. Maybe it was a stupid move to stop right before she made it to freedom but the twins couldn't exactly run out of the woods like something was trying to kill them, even if that was the case. They would have to walk out slowly without attracting any unwanted attention.

"Cyrus," Luna whispered, "I don't think he's after us for the time being. How close is your car because we look terrible?" she asked wiping some of the blood off her head with the back of her hand.

Cyrus Jaeger

Son of Lead Hunter

Cyrus leaned against a tree and took a moment to catch his breath. It was a testament to how talented a Hunter Luna was, to see her able to keep up with him even when injured and malnourished. As for himself, Cyrus was just incredibly relieved that his little plan had worked; he was half expecting to feel a bullet in his spine. "Please remind me never to do something that stupid again," he said, mostly to himself. The Draki seemed to have given up the chase, possibly due to their proximity to the public. That didn't mean that they weren't out of danger, though. Draki could be watching in their human forms, looking for anyone with suspicious wounds.

"Here," Cyrus told Luna, taking some salves out of his bag. "Put these on your cuts. They won't heal your scratches completely, but they'll do for now." The Hunter applied some of the ointment to his shoulder, wincing as the burn tingled and stung. He took off his mask and holster, putting them in the pouch. "My car's not far," Cyrus said. "But we should keep our heads down. Wouldn't want anyone to ask questions about two mangled teens coming out of the forest." He peeked out towards the parking lot. It was a work day, and still early, so not many people were there. But it only took one Draki to ruin everything. "I would ask you to drive," Cyrus chuckled, "But I don't think you're in the shape for it."

Eric Rylan

Alpha

Eric sprinted towards his car, demanifesting as he did. He tripped over his rapidly morphing legs as he did, but he didn't want to waste any time. As soon as he had access to his pockets, he took out his phone and dialed a number. He had a Draki friend who held a high position as a park ranger--he often kept the authorities away from the cabin. The phone ringed once, and then someone answered. "Hello? Eric?" the voice on the other end said, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Tobias! I spotted a couple of kids in the forest with beer cans," Eric replied, knowing that his fellow Draki would understand his meaning. "East side. They'll be on their way out. A girl, plus a male, I think. They look like they got caught in some branches or something."

There was a brief pause on the line, and then Tobias spoke. "Roger that. I'll tell the boys to keep an eye out. Thanks for the tip. Anything else?"

Eric hesitated. He didn't want to tell another Draki about his failure. His Pride had to have absolute trust in him; this would weaken it. But news would get around the Draki community quickly, and if he lied about it now, he would lose their faith. "The cabin has a hole in it," he told the other man. "We'll have to rebuild it from the ground up."

Tobius cursed quietly. "I hear ya," he sighed. "I'll handle it personally." Within twenty-four hours, the cabin would be scrubbed clean of any Draki evidence. The underground cells would be torn down and blocked off, Pride belongings would be collected and distributed to their owners, and the place would be filled with human trash.

Satisfied, Eric thanked Tobius and hung up the phone. He had reached the car by then, so he got in and sat for a few minutes. Then he let out a yell and punched the dashboard (which, as any human will tell you, is not a recommended thing to do when one is angry). He had failed. It wasn't a problem with the Pride's teamwork, or simple bad luck; it was all up to him to prevent the Hunter's escape, and he had failed. But he couldn't dwell on these things now. The main plan was still in effect. And in the meantime, he was still expected to make an appearance at his children's school.

Luna Jaeger

Daughter of Lead Hunter

Luna started laughing, "It might have been stupid but it was good thinking... and kind of awesome." Her exhaustion was taking over and over tired giggling was starting to set in. She ran her fingers through her messy hair trying to make it more presentable or at least less like she had lived in the wilderness for six months. The teen took the salve from her brother and put some on her scratched cheek. She winced as it took effect stinging more than she had expected. Her head would probably need a few stitches but she put the salve on that too.

After all her cuts were covered in a good amount of the stinging salve she handed it back to her brother. "Thanks. For coming back for me and for you know never giving up and all that. Three months is a long time to be gone. I was afraid. Not of dying or being tortured, but of being trapped and never getting out. I was afraid I'd never get to see you or Dad ever again." She laughed at her sentimental side wiping her eye a bit. This wasn't like her but her emotions were all over the place. She didn't like it but it seemed understandable given the circumstances.

"What are we going to do? The Draki know what I look like now. I can't go back to school or been seen with anyone from the family anymore. I feel like I just traded one cage for another. Though at least our house has my bed and a place to train." This was quite the situation. Luna didn't have any idea what to do and she was too tired to think of a solution right now. She started walking in the direction of the car, "I'll take a rain check on driving and pass out in the backseat if that's alright. By the way how's my jeep?"

Cyrus Jaeger

Son of Lead Hunter

Cyrus shifted uncomfortably. His sister was being all emotional, and he couldn't even think of something to say. He looked deep inside, trying to find any hint of the sympathy or compassion that he knew that he should be feeling, but there was nothing. It was aggravating, to say the least, and dismaying at worst. Cyrus tried not to let this inner struggle show; Luna didn't need more things to worry about. Instead, he tried to quickly remember what he had seen other kids at his school do when someone started being sentimental. Cyrus put his arm around his twin's shoulders, keeping any trace of awkwardness out of his behavior.

"Don't worry," he said confidently. "I have a plan to re-assimilate you back into normal society...how do you feel about plastic surgery?" Cyrus was kidding, of course...mostly. He had been primarily focused on rescuing Luna; he didn't really know what he was going to do when she was back. For now, she would have to stay out of sight. They could dye her hair, false glasses, a different style of clothing, an accent, but there was no guarantee that this would work forever. However, it was currently their best bet until they could figure out something better.

Cyrus cautiously looked around, watching for anyone staring. He unlocked his car with the press of a button. "Your jeep is probably fine," he replied jokingly. "I may or may not have spilled a drink on the seats." The Hunter stopped mid-laugh. A park ranger was looking directly at them. "Look natural, we have a tail, eight o'clock," he murmured quietly. Cyrus hopped into the driver's seat and activated the transmissions jammer on his tablet. It would keep the ranger from making radio contact, but that wouldn't help if he stuck around long enough to memorize Cyrus's license plates. "I really need to learn how you drive," the young man told his sister, getting ready to drive off in a cloud of dust.

When Eric arrived at his children's school, he had calmed down somewhat. He wandered the halls, trying not to look conspicuous in a crowd that still consisted mostly of kids. When he finally located his children (plus another kid that he remembered was a Draki, but knew nothing else about), he realized that he would have to somehow tell them what he had been doing. But not now, with so many prying ears. That could wait for when they got home. "Hope you kids didn't get into too much trouble," Eric said. He sincerely doubted that they would; his offspring were, for the most part, very manageable.

"I see you've met up with one of your friends," the Alpha said, turning to the other child. "And you are...?"

Cerise had quickly hurried after Crystal when she started to interact with another Draki, and had offered him a smile and a greeting. When her father came back, she had wondered what had happened this time. Did he blow up a building? Start a forest fire? Nevertheless, she was happy to see him come back safe and alive. "We're not troublesome children, are we?" She joked.

Luna Jaeger

Daughter of Lead Hunter

Luna tensed up when Cyrus noticed someone watching them. She put her hand up to her head like she was looking off into the distance, really it was to cover her injury from view. She quickly climbed into the passenger side of the car finding a blanket and a bottle of water. "Do you think he's going to chase us?" she asked her brother nervously as she buckled her seatbelt and covered herself in the blanket. She didn't have the strength left to fight or run and she worried that if it came to that she'd be captured again.

Her eyelids were starting to get heavy and it was hard to keep her eyes open. "I'm just going to have a nap while you drive us home okay?" she mumbled to her twin. "I trust your driving, it will be fine, and if you want to drive like me..." she trailed off mumbling something barely recognizable about driving like the police were after you at all times before she slipped off to sleep.

Luna's sleep was restless, filed with nightmares of being captured again, of leading her family into danger, and of fire. She was back in the cabin, the Draki had put needles in her arms. Something kind of truth serum was flowing into her body making her betray her family and every piece of information she knew. The Draki questioned her and she gave them everything they wanted without hesitation. Luna would die before she gave up information that could get her family killed but the words were spilling out of her mouth and she could not stop them. The Draki laughed at her discomfort and when they had everything they needed the Alpha walked slowly over to her ripping the needles out of her arms. He smiled at her right before her stabbed her in the heart.

The young hunter woke up gasping for breath. Everything around her was dark. Luna had no idea where she was or even if this was another dream.

Eric chuckled at his daughter's little joke. "Only sometimes," he noted dryly. "Now tell me, what are your kids' favorite classes?" That was something good fathers asked, right? His father would have said something like, "Which of these idiotic human training sessions do you hate the least? But then again, Eric had been in school decades back, before the widespread use of the almighty computer.

"I think I'm going to puke," Cyrus moaned, gripping the steering wheel with stark-white knuckles. He wasn't sure how Luna was able to stay asleep through the last fifteen minutes; she must have been truly exhausted. "Car chases, police interference, a pileup on the road...I think I even saw a few neo-Nazis there at some point," Cyrus sighed. "But we got through it, somehow." The Hunter looked back at his twin, hearing her gasp for breath. "You alright?" he asked gently. They were parked in the Jaeger garage. Home.

Despite himself, Cyrus started to giggle. The intensity of the morning had just caught up with him. Home! They had both survived! His sister was back! But Cyrus quickly caught himself. There was still plenty of work to be done. First things first: he needed to get Luna patched up. The young man hauled himself out the car and opened the door for Luna. "Come on," he said. "I have the medical equipment inside."

@Lithia

"Favourite classes?" Cerise tilted her head, thinking. "Physics, Chemistry and History. I guess that's because the people who teach those three classes are actually good at what they do. Unlike majority of my teachers." She mumbled the last part, evil eyeing her Maths teacher as she walked by. The blonde haired woman shot her an equally evil look back, to which Cerise quickly looked away. That woman is not human or Draki. She's a demon. Thought Cerise, as she dared to glance back at her Maths teacher, to see her cornering some poor student with his mom.

Alex Terry

Way back in life when he had been acknowledged as a person by the two daughters of an important person, Alex had waved and offered a goofy grin; even throwing in a little "Hiya" to top off the greeting cake. The boy had been pretty calm and confident-ish until Sir Alpha Supreme showed up. Then he started freaking the fudge out.

Since, well, this was the guy that was in charge of basically an entire tribe of Draki. He was probably crazy powerful, and could burn him to a crisp just by giving a disapproving stare. Or...something along those lines. Either way, Alex really didn't want to piss him off. That would be a bad thing both physically and reputation-ally.

So, after having all and any confidence sucked away in an instant, the blonde muttered something along the lines of "Alex Terry, Sir." just barely loud enough for people to hear in the crowded spaces of the building. And after that he...well... He kind of shut his trap and let the Alpha talk to the more important people in the area; sort of considering slipping away and letting family bonding happen.

Eric Rylan

Alpha

Eric followed Cerise's gaze. "I see...," he noted curtly. Humans, as pitiful and ignorant as most were, could sometimes manage to produce individuals with threatening presences that rivaled his own. For a split second, the Draki felt like he was back in high school, under the all-knowing eye of the terrifying Mr. Jonas. Eric felt a chill go down his spine. "Anyway," he said, turning back to the boy to change the subject. "Mister Alex, it's a pleasure to meet you." Eric stuck out his hand, maintaining direct eye contact with the lad. He seemed respectful, but a little timid. Ah, such was the average reaction that younger Draki had towards him.

Now if only his own children showed the same respect. Eric didn't remember ever saying a word of backtalk to his own father, but then again, it was a different time. Kids nowadays were obsessed with their memes and singular directions and sharks that came from the left. Eric really didn't understand it all, as much as he tried. "Where are your parents, son?" he asked Alex.

Luna Jaeger

Daughter of Lead Hunter

After her eyes adjusted she realized that she was still in the car, in the garage at home and Cyrus was beside her. "Yeah I think I'm alright, just a little nightmare. I think I hit my head harder than I thought though. And you got us home in one piece, I'm proud of you," She giggled teasing him about driving. Luna yawned an climbed out of the car, stretching her sore muscles. Three months was a long time without much training and she had really pushed herself today. If she was this sore now she'd be even worse in the morning.

Luna walked back into her home for the first time in months. It felt weird, good of course, but weird to be back after all she'd been through. As she walked down the hall she caught her reflection in the mirror. "Damn, my head is going to need stitches," she sighed. That was slightly annoying and would be painful. She was probably also going to need an iv with fluids and vitamins to help her get some strength back. Sleep was at the top of her list of most important things but it would have to wait a bit.

"You should tend to your shoulder first Cy, it looks pretty bad," she told her twin.

Luna's mind wandered to the fact that she would likely have to be home schooled now for her and her family's protection. She would also have to send someone out to get her some hair dye and adopt an accent. All of this because a stupid tree had fallen on her making her easy prey for the Draki in the last big battle.

Crystal Rylan

Crystal was surprised when her father approached them. A bit weirded out at that. Hes done with his 'errand' already? Strange, hes not normally back this early. Well, he must have done a pretty good job! She thought, throwing away any feeling of suspicion. She trusted him enough. She faced Alex again. "So, are you enjoying yourself?" She asked, picking a random topic to talk about. She just wanted to go and check out the public pool that was close by, and go swimming.

Or they could go home, and she could relax in the sun. Crystal much preferred if they went to the pool after this though, if anything. She really needed a soak to rejuvenate more. And, maybe, if they were good, they could go to a lake! She always loved lakes. They were so big and open, and normally the one they went to had virtually no humans! And, it was just beautiful to look at. There was also plenty of fish. It was a great place, she'd have to remember to talk to her father about it.

Once she was done with all of these thoughts, she looked back at Alex after staring off into space.

Cyrus Jaeger

Son of Lead Hunter

"I'll put something on my shoulder later," Cyrus replied. "But I'd rather not do that until I'm sure you won't pass out on the floor. Go to the kitchen and get something to eat. I bet you're hungry. Don't eat too much, though. Your body will need to adjust. I'll get the medical supplies." Since the Jaeger household was closely connected with a major medical business, it wasn't strange that the building could function as a small hospital. What would surprise most people was the efficiency and preparedness that the Jaegers acted, as if they returned home needing medication attention all the time. Cyrus quickly located the surplus of drugs, bandages, and IV kits that were kept in a locked storage closet. Then, bringing the supplies to the kitchen, he carefully picked out the appropriate medicines and liquid substances that Luna would need. It wasn't that difficult; Cyrus had been helping his dad give prescriptions since he was eleven.

"Cuts and scratches," the boy said, pointing to the various creams and pills. "Bruises, general pain, vitamins--you'll be on those for a while, just as soon as you're healthy enough to be off the IV. Only take the ones you need, though they shouldn't have bad reactions with each other because, well, we made most of them." His sister probably knew all of this already; she had gone through the same process herself. Cyrus took some of the stronger anti-burn ointment and applied to his shoulder. Ouch. He wouldn't be able to fully stretch his right arm for a while.

Cyrus went to go set up the IV in Luna's room. As he left, he said, "If you want it, the shower is--well, you know." Before he disappeared out of sight, he added, "It's good to have you back, sis. We...we were really worried about you."

Alex Terry

Okay holy shit. He wasn't dead yet. So far, so good.

Putting on a nervous smile, the boy reached forward and shook the other's hand. As weird as it was, he was a bit excited to talk to the Alpha. It was like meeting the president, or maybe even a movie star. "Its a pleasure to meet you too, Sir." And now to figure out how to explain the situation without making it seem like his parents were 6 feet under the ground or something. "And, uh, they couldn't make it. Dad's busy and my Mom is sick." Freaking nailed it.

Alex's attention was kind of bouncing back and forth between Eric and Crystal at this point while he tried to keep up with both conversations. Well, it wasn't that difficult of a task. But, hey, talking to new people was always really weird. "Yeah." He nodded softly. "I mean. As much as you can when trapped in a High School."
