Futuristic   ፧︴DAYBREAK「b*mono」

Full name: Valerie Hill
Nickname: V
Age: 26
pronouns: She/her

V Is calculating, hard-working, and most importantly compassionate. As fitting for her job description working aboard the (Cruiser name here) a lot of her life has centered around her providing precise and careful aid to her pilots.

V Is a part of a PMC and thus her freedom of expression is easily compromised. Her outfits consist of whatever military garb and or gear she is provided whether that is a tactical vest and fatigues or if it's dress shirts and slacks. No matter the situation she dresses sharply. Though her hair is long (roughly reaching her mid back) she is usually keeping it in a ponytail the one bit of creative liberty she takes with her person often improvising a new haphazardly made pony or a more interesting one depending on the time and situation.

Her workaholic nature makes it straightforward to find her, check any command room, any operation area, anything with significance befitting her profession, and surely you'll see her.

V is an enigma. Most soldiers and personnel on base would rather finish their jobs quickly and take time on with friends and family, anything that could help them escape the hard reality of this new era but that mindset hardly applies to V Her honed-in nature is hardly just for show and that inability to sit still, relax for that matter makes her appear as a stickler. On top of that, her job being an operator means that she resides most if not all of her time with her pilot she guides. This also makes her come off as aloof to most people. Her pilot though gets her overwhelming support which almost seems unconditional.

It's not like she had always been like this. One too many pilots, lost under her care has brought her through a really tough breakdown. On a physical level and most importantly a psychic one too. It's a hard burden to witness and every time she's taken responsibility of that burden by suiting up and performing again. She's ultimately learned from her mistakes and with every new one she does her best to retain it quickly so she can more efficiently help her pilot.

Anton doesn't seem to carry many worries on his broad shoulders. What he can't sleep off, he grabs a cigarette and smokes it out. Longer days and even longer nights on the job have given him some time to deal with his inner turmoil, and at this point he's just learned to roll with the punches. You die trying otherwise - he's watched too many allies lose themselves in their guilt. He lives his life seeking what joy he can, like the little herb garden in his cabin or the candy he has stashed in the mech.
The things Anton holds most dear are what he's learned he can't hold close. The dirty work for the PMC as well as his past in the military has painted a target on his head. He's the first to say it isn't worth it, wanting to stop many of the younger members from crossing the line. Ironically, however, he's the best at gauging if someone is able to live with blood on their hands.

The street urchin to petty criminal pipeline is a fact of life - at least to Annika it is. She's never known otherwise, having grown up in the poverty-stricken streets of a large city. She's been smart enough to avoid getting pulled into organized crime. The flipside is she also knew that as she grew older, it would only get tougher. A path to hell really.
A stroke of luck had her trying to pickpocket a member of the PMC, and the rest, as they say, is quite literally just last week. While it seems she's compatible with Leo, she has too many unresolved issues to be an effective unit with him. There's even been talk that training her isn't worth it. Spite is one hell of a motivator though, so either she'll have herself sorted or burn out trying.

Full name: Leonardo (N/A)
Nickname: Leo, Lee, Leon
Age: 21
pronoun: He/him

Our fresh meat of the PMC group; Leo, He's a wide-eyed, bushy-tailed, kid hailing from some off-the-map ghost town. He holds goals of achieving a lot of money that of which is ultimately sent back home to his family and friends. Obviously not knowing the entire extent of his workplace he tries to hold out hope thinking that he's still the 'good guy'.

For Pilots outfit is everything. To some, it's fashion while to others it's practicality or maybe it's even tacticality. For Leo, it's a mix of both. He wears a brown trench coat used mainly for whatever the weather may throw at him. He got goggles on more so for a stylistic choice but has in fact used them (Tho the times he hasn't used them far exceeds the times that he has used them but ya know. Hush) If you look closely he actually has a lot of equipment on and fancy clothing that makes him look like some kinda distinguished pilot which is not the case considering hes rookie at best.
Is it a survival tactic? Or maybe he just likes to look nice. Who knows.

Besides his friends and family back home, it's his work for mechs that fuels him. Somewhere deep down he loves the work of a pilot and that rush he gets is always something he clings on, even if he doesn't show it. Off side of work, you'll most likely find him at his mech tinkering and tuning up what he can.

Cause of his rookie status there's not much to talk about Leo. He came in from some ghost town with nothing to show but a beginner's level piloting know-how and a want to prove himself. He cares about doing his best and proving himself just as much as the next guy but he's also easily overwhelmed by the crazyness that goes on in his job. Not that he likes to show it much. He masks his fears with a go get her attitude and a firey personality but that in itself seems to fault often when things get a little too crazy.

As of currently, he's never had to deal with hit missions
Clearing out towns he's done but they've never gotten so bad to the point that he's had to kill anyone.
He will claim that he's dealt with these missions before but that's more or less a lie. He's deathly afraid of having to do some serious stuff and he is more or less just waiting for the inevitable day to happen.

For now, we can call this room HQ. It would be the spot that V and Annika would operate out of. We're looking at a totally different perspective when factoring in Leo and Anton who currently reside on the field of their mission. In the time frame of everything that had happened we can say that Leo and Anton had just hit the grounds with their mechs and V and Annika have/are setting up in their operating rooms (I don't know what would be a better idea them being in the same place or not so I'm just rolling with this.)

HQ was actually really impressive. The computer screens that seemed to go on forever with the last one, something much bigger at the end of the room basically gave them everything they needed. The big screen at the back was currently projecting an overview map of the location Leo and Anton were in. Respectively the two had their little icons in the form of a arrow that would point whichever way they were currently facing. Usually, in other cases, the group would have more to work with but as of now the area was more or less undocumented and thus that's where THEY were sent in for.

"Annika, please remember that the mission is everything. You need to be precise with everything you say as to not confuse Leo. He's counting on you down there so please- give it your all." V never intends to be this cold. She doesn't greet Annika at all. Her mind was on the job and currently, it was making sure to recite the obj to him once more. She would assume that Anton would go over that same info with Leo if Annika hadn't.

"Can you hear me, Anton?" Assuming that he could she would continue "Please do not forget your briefing. Today we're tasked with a simple research job. Thing's should remain calm but you should still be on your guard regardless. We don't know what's here, understood?" Methodical and calculating as ever she more or less sounded like someone nagging at this point but surely he was used to it by now right?

As for Leo. He and his mech were already starting to get a small start in his search. It's hard to call it search actually, all things considering that he was more so marveling at the location than recording for anything.

As for the location I imagined things to be inside a giant cave/ mountain thing? I'm up for other ideas so lemme know what you would wanna do other wise we can still roll with this!))

The contacts in Annika's eyes glinted with the reflection of the screens. It wasn't her first time in the operation room, but it was her first time there when she was hooked up to one of the machines. Though the sync had yet to start, apprehension colored her movements as she went through the steps to set-up her station. She recalled each step, recited them to herself as she looked over the mission details on her right screen.

"Got it, got it." She said, her back stiffening at V's cold tone. No one expected much of her; she knew that. Which meant she couldn't fuck this up even more. "Leonardo"-there was a faint hint of disgust in the name-"Sync beginning in three... two... one."

It was fuzzy. Her body felt heavy. She felt sick, but this was normal. V had said she would get used to it with time but Ann had her doubts. Gingerly, she tapped into the stream she shared with Leo, trying to get a sense of what he was doing. She felt a vague sense of wonder instead of the first mission jitters that were currently dancing around in her stomach. Irritated, and jealous of his calm, she forced herself to move.

Focus! The thought was a snap - a wave that would cut through the noise between them. "Today is a survey mission. You circle an area with the sensor, and we'll tell you when the sensor is done doing its job."

V said that with practice and better compatibility, some pairs could even see through each other's eyes. That was definitely not happening, so Ann opened up a camera feed that allowed her to see outside the mech. "Just please don't do too much. For both our sakes."

- - -

The cave they were exploring was massive, the ceiling several feet higher than the large mechs they were operating. To Anton, it was a reminder that no matter how far humanity had come, nature could do everything better. Oddly comforting.

"Can you hear me, Anton?" V's voice, and presence in his mind, pulled him away from his contemplation. Rather than respond verbally, he relied on their sync to affirm. Just another recon mission - easy.

Not much to do, aside from walk around and let the sensor do its thing. It was a glorified errand, if you asked him. Then again, that was probably why they gave it to the two newbies. He and V were just supposed to make sure nothing went south.

"Leo," He switched to the shared team channel, calling the attention of the younger man. "You too Annika, if you're looking. See up there?" He lifted the arm of his mech, pointing to something a couple of feet above where they were. Along the southeast wall, just barely visible, was a blue-green line that ran along one of the crevices. "That's a vein. That's what they were hoping to find here." He pursed his lips, letting out a low whistle. "Lucky them."

"How're you two holding up?" Though he couldn't see Leo, his mech still looked towards his out of habit. He and V moved so in sync he barely thought about the gestures now. "The first real movements can be pretty rough."

Despite how many times Leo has psyched himself up he just couldn't prepare himself for the grandiose scale that was Mother Nature itself. For lack of a better word these very walls, this very mountain was nothing short of beautiful. Scary in a sense but beautiful. To double down. Humanity would never be able to top something so perfectly created.

The walls themselves had a thick coating of ice from every way. It was hard to make a clear estimate on how thick it was but one could assume that they were standing underneath some pretty heady ice.

"Eh-..mmhm- I'm ready." Leo personally hated the voice that spoke back to him. Not for any feelings of self-proclaimed superiority or any real personal reason. Leo just hated the way his name was spoken and generally hated how her tone sounded. Weren't they supposed to be together on this? Why did he feel ostracized? With them syncing up there would be no doubt that Annika could feel his uneasy too. Unease that he makes a good attempt at stowing away only really going so far as to put it on the back burner of his mind.

He was well enough focused. On edge even despite nothing really happening. That need to show his worth hadn't gone away and he was not going to make any mistakes if he could help it. He quietly notes the plans back to himself but they would be garbled if his partner decided to tune in. A small indicator that he was unintentionally working by himself...

V's used to these type of responses and generally shes always waiting for any motion cues, almost more than she would for something verbal. It didn't stop her from talking to him a habit you could call in this circumstance. Avoiding whatever problems Annika and Leo in there sync may have V's and Antons were perfectly clear. She could feel a sense of ease linking with him and because the two had no problems with each other they had a pretty calm wave.

When Leo is called his mech quite literally shoots upwards to attention. Life he was looking straight back to Anton he tries to play it off. "Sir!" Leo follows the mech's hand to where it was pointing at, he quickly spots the aforementioned line Anton spoke of. 'They?' he thought quietly to himself. But not having much time to think further as Anton had asked him a question.

"Don't worry about me sir..I-...this is no different from any other time. I won't let you down." His mech would turn away from Anton's own. Finding some calmness in the action

There would be a message from V once more "We've idle'd for too long, Please proceed on with the mission, the sooner we are done the sooner we can talk freely." It's hard to gauge a real tone that's not 'informative' she was great at reading the objective.
