Whaddup. I'm Early, and it's a pleasure to be here! I've been a Role player for actually half of my life now! I don't think a lot of people can say that. Heh. It started with AIM/AOL/MSN chat rooms, when I was admittedly probably too young for all that.
I jumped to Forum RP sometime around the mid-2000's. I'm not sure if it was because I grew up in poverty but I remember using Dial Up for my computer and that made role play soooo gosh darn tedious. Not only was I waiting for posts, but I had to wait for the parents to get off the phone so I could even check to see if I had a post available for me. Was very obnoxious. OTHER THAN THAT, I moved onto a site called Chatango which I deeply regret. The people there were incredibly toxic, and it became a lot less about characters and a lot more about who you knew and what account you had. Accounts were like trading cards. I owned some good ones, some I'd bought for $100 USD+, which I'm not proud of!
Anyway. That went from about 2009ish to about 2015. I actually meet a partner on there, but once we got serious we... Stopped RPing? I mean, I still RP'd because I play D&D at my place every Sunday (Or try) but like we stopped RPing together. I stopped with Chatango all together. BUT, all things end. Our relationship went until about March-ish 2018, and uhhhh I had a lot more free time all of a sudden. So I looked into how popular the RP scene was on Discord, which I spend 99% of my time on.
Answer: VERY. Like, hooooly shit. It reminds me of Chatango a bit, though. Lot of drama and general toxicity. I'm far too old to get caught up in all that crap now, so I more or less find myself just consoling others and trying my best to not get involved. I also learned I don't like teenagers... Anyway, nearly ten years since I last touched a forum and here I am! I knew about RPNation even waaaaay back but never got into it. Not sure why. Place seems dope.
