    It's part of the system to discourage spam bots. New accounts are restricted in some areas (Can't send PMs, posts are auto-moderated, etc.) until you reach 3 posts. Once you do, the system will take some time to process the change (last I heard it could take up to 24 hours, but was often much less), but once it's done all of those restrictions should be lifted
