The Suspicious Eye

Your Darling Devil
Basic Lore582672The year is 2120. Four hundred years ago there was a genetic separation in human DNA. No one knew where it came from or why it was happening, but soon children were born with extraordinary powers. Flight, telepathy, elemental manipulation, great powers entangled within small children. At first the government tried to contain the new empowered children, but the birth rate of a empowered child steadily changed from 1 in 100 to 1 in 10 children born in the recent 200 years.

There was no stopping the influx of empowered children , so the government turned to regulating the use of super powers. These regulations pushed against human rights and were poorly planned. Harsh retaliation was met with fierce use of power. Fighting against these laws was a bloody a terrifying time, but with their resolve the regulations were abolished and new laws were set in place. Successful in their endeavor, the scars of the fight remained. Resulting in antagonistic empowered group who grew to be the leaders within the empowered community.

Powers became a staple in society, however, those who are stronger have begun to prey on the weak. Leaving those without powers at the bottom. Many empowered didn't even care about those left behind, believing in the ideology of only the powerful should lead. Schools for Empowered children rose and followed the ideology of strong over the weak, leading to many students becoming more hostile to normals and a rush of empowered criminals.

To counteract this influx and improve relationships between empowered and normals Elias Steinbeck established Highland Academy. His academy began to teach heroism and the importance of helping those who are weaker than them. With every graduating class more heroes became recognized. In 20 years after Highland Academy's creation the graduating heroes and those who independently became heroes established the Hero's Association. Hero's new and old now have a central hub and structure to help them pursue justice. A year after its construction the American government acknowledged the Association and has been working alongside it to improve world safety.

FAQs
  1. So what's the basic plot of the Rp?
    • Basic plot you are students of Highland Academy for Powered Individuals (HAPI) and get to experience learning to be a hero, support or civilian. There are 2 seasons, the first is set on earth where students deal with powers, persecution, villainy, parallel universes and what being a hero means to you. The second season is planned in space, representing humanity for the Galactic Union (name pending)
  2. Where/ When is this rp set?
    1. Highland Academy is in Oregon and the year is 2120, technology and time advancement are that of Big Hero 6. The coastal cities are a high-tech hybrid of artistic and technological architecture and a fusion of world culture. After the discovery of empowered children extensive focus on science and innovation became a driving force for normals. Esteemed universities are responsible for grooming some of the most significant figures in the scientific field. Conversely, behind many bright aesthetic is the underworld of illegal fighting, mercenaries, and crime syndicates—commonly based in the dark, grungy alleys of the city.
  3. Do we get flying cars?
    • No flying cars yet, but jetpack's are starting to be a real thing. Holograms, AR, VR are used commonly. Alternative energy is the common use of power, and various self sustaining energy forms have begun to pop up only to be taken in by the government. Bio engineering, biotechnology, biology and chemistry are subjects that have been heavily funded. There are very few diseases left in the world, life spans range around 130 for the average healthy human.
  4. What is the government like?
    • This Rp is set in America, so it will be the american government. However, for international and world concerns heroes talk with the United Nations.
  5. Will Highland have a royalty ranking system (King Queen, Jack, Ace) like Bronzewood and other schools?
    • Yes! Although the Turf Wars is considered more of a extracurricular club for Highland Academy students. You're welcome to join the club and participate in representing your school in these fights.
  6. How long is the rp planning on being?
    • Fairly long, each season holds about 3-4 arcs.
  7. How do Highland students and Bronzewood students get along?
    • Poorly. Bronzewood is the closest school to HAPI but teaches in a opposing manner. Preaching the ideology of strong over the weak most students view the HAPI students as weak or delusional.
  8. How are heroes viewed by other empowered and normals?
    • Heroes are viewed by most empowered as a waste of time and a foolish idea. However there are some empowered that idolize heroes and want to become one.
    • For normals heroes are viewed in a strange light, most admire heroes and enjoy having them around. Although there are some who dislike the idea of letting the empowered near normals even if it is to help.

Highland Academy:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Highland_Academy.jpg

Highland Academy was founded in 2270 by Elias Steinbeck to provide a safe, productive, and unifying space for empowered to become heroes and give hope to the normal people that depend on the aid of the supernatural. While this prestigious school faces backlash from the empowered, Highland remains a state of the art school that caters to the need of every one of our student body and staff. The Front Entrance serves a lobby for students coming and going to classes, dorms, or coming from or out off campus. This comfortable, clean and inviting entrance to the main building should be a common sight for both new and returning students.
===================================================================================================================================
courtyard.png

The Main Courtyard is a calm and serene place where students and teachers can sit and relax, enjoying the delicately maintained greenery to ensure everything is clean and not interrupting of the student and staff's time there. Be sure to stop by simply relax into a seat.
===================================================================================================================================
Teacher offices.jpg

Located inside the Main Building, you will find that every teacher in this school has their own office. This ensures that teachers can work in their own environment without bothering other teachers. Should a student need to hold a meeting with a teacher, they may do so without the need to quiet or something of the like. Teachers are free to alter their office space as they see fit as long as it does not hinder the learning process.
===================================================================================================================================
headmaster.jpg

The headmaster's office is truly a work of classic art. Given his age, his office showcases the many artifacts and mystical relics he's come across in his life so far. Finely crafted carpentry sit wherever you look, giving an insight into the casual elegance that exudes from the Headmaster. He doesn't usually call students to his office, but should he one can expect something that it won't be anything small.
===================================================================================================================================
Dorm.jpg

The Student Dorms lie to the right of the main building and is the main unwinding tool for students attending Highland Academy. each dorm room not only has it's own full bathroom and kitchen, but is equipped with the latest appliances to nurture the student's growth in subjects other then the ones taught in the classroom. Listen to music as loud as you desire, for every room is heavily soundproofed to prevent students from keeping each other up. The beds are of the softest material in the state, and each room has two top of the line PCs standard. Students are required to be in their rooms by 11pm. Monday through Friday, 12pm. on weekends. Even though they must be in their rooms by the aforementioned time does not mean they can not do as they please inside the rooms.
===================================================================================================================================
Teacher Dorms.jpg

Should Teachers and staff decide they don't want to make the commute to school everyday, staff are able to room in their own personal dorm, located next to the student dorms free of charge. It comes with all the amenities of the student dorms, except that the dorm is larger and is for one teacher per room. There are no rules regarding the Teacher dorms other than that students are not allowed to enter without permission, and not for longer then an hour. Can be extended with Headmaster's permission.
====================================================================================================================================

While students are permitted to leave campus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, some may decide to go to the Main Building to eat in the Cafeteria. Highland has some very good cooks, and it is shown in the course of large and high quality food available for students and staff alike.
====================================================================================================================================
audit.jpg

Also located in the Main building, The Auditorium serves as a place where the student council and other authoritative figures can make announcements that wouldn't be announced through intercom.It's very large and spacious, able to fit an entire grade easily.
====================================================================================================================================
Student_Council_Room_Full.png

Located right past the Main Building in it's own, smaller building lies the student council office building. Here the small council deal with the day to day needs of the students while collaborate with the other committees also in the building to maintain order. This building is also where Highland's royals meet up before going to turf wars.
====================================================================================================================================
Iuik52p.png

To the left Side the school building lie the indoor and outdoor Olympic pool. Swimming is a great full body exercise as well as an excellent recreational activity. Outside of sundays, where both pools are cleaned, the pool only locks it's doors after student curfew. Highland academy allows students and teachers to wear their own swimsuits, to promote students to be comfortable with themselves as much as possible.
===================================================================================================================================
Gym.jpg

Located right next to the pool lies the Gym. The pride of our more physical students, this gym is equipped with every machine you will ever need to to ondition muscle groups and improve one's physical ability. Equipped with their own showers, cool air conditioning, and it;s own snack and drink bar, this gym will cater to your every neeed so that you may focus on improving yourself. This facility is one of the few buildings that are not only open 24/7, but allow student's to stay out past curfew, as long as they are working out.
===================================================================================================================================
Ballin.jpg

Located across the Gym, The Basketball Court is home to the nationally recognized Basketball team and the just as renowned Cheerleading team. Here in this spacious, air conditioned court, the teams can practice to their heart's content. normal students are not allowed to play in the indoor court, instead are allowed to watch from the catwalks or play on the outdoor court directly behind the building. Basketball and Cheer team members have a 24 hour pass to the indoor court to practice as they please.
===================================================================================================================================
football.jpg

Quite a bit away from campus itself, The school has a field to house students who prefer a more physical sport then the others. While not quite as recognized as basketball and Soccer, Highland's football team is still a force to be reckoned with. Due to previous accidents being reported when the team isn't practicing, the field is closed outside of practice times. Punishment is to be dealt at the student council's discretion. It also doubles as a track for the school's track team.
===================================================================================================================================
those sports.jpg

Down a small path from the basketball court and gym lie the Lacrosse and Soccer field. While the Soccer team is nationally recognized, Lacrosse isn't a well known sport in Oregon, but highland provides it as a sport anyway.
====================================================================================================================================
basball.jpg

The Baseball Field sits next to the football field/Track and gives students the opportunity to play a staple sport in America's history. Due to its close proximity to the football field it is also under the same rule banning entry outside of set times.
====================================================================================================================================
golf.jpg

The Golf Green lies behind the student dorms in a quiet pocket of the school where people can peacefully play golf. To maintain the serenity loud noises are not permitted and littering/dirtying the Green will result in swift punishment from the council.
