It is the modern era. For centuries, beings which resembled creatures from myth and legend, monster people, had remained hidden to society. As humanity began to encroach onto the world at large, they could no longer remain secret. When they began to be discovered, they were not accepted, and were instead harassed and discriminated against. Many years passed and things began to change. Movements started to help these monster people, typically referred to as "Folk", integrate into society. Not everyone was ready to accept living peacefully together though. Both humans and Folk had strong opposition towards any sort of compromise. Agencies began springing up all over the world to help deal with Folk related crimes and aid in integrating those who wished to live among humans. They also aid in dealing with Folk who try to abuse their abilities, or cases of discrimination by regular humans against them.
Those who are trying to become part of human society are called "Nonhuman Individuals Seeking to Assimilate", normally referred to as "Nistas"; they register with the agency and carry a card as proof. And those who try to live in human places that actively refuse to being part of society are labelled "Unregister Folk Instigators", or "UFIs". But they are derogatively referred to as "Outsiders".

This roleplay, inspired by anime such as Monster Musume and Demi-chan, will take place in New York City. You as a participant will either take the role of a member of the Nonhuman Integration Agency, or someone opposed to the agency, be it a criminal or someone actively working against integration. You are free to play as either a human or a Folk. If you choose to be a Folk, you may choose whichever race of monster you'd like, but they must be generally humanoid and need to be approved by me.
