Hearts of Gold

"Those with Golden hearts are fine rulers and fine targets."

Read more about this role play...

In a land that is more or less, unexplainable, there is a Kingdom.

The Kingdom is ruled by a group of Royals who have be specially chosen to lead by the 7 Gods. The Royals are all born with a solid gold heart that represents their God given purity and leadership.

Although their gift is beyond all others, it also comes with a grave price.

Legend says that the golden Hearts give the blessings of the 7 Gods to the owner, and if a Heart is stolen, that blessing is bestowed upon the thief and the Royal shall die.

Those with Golden Hearts are fine rulers and fine targets.

"

Orange juice?

" The young Royal, Kalcyte, asked the servant, swirling the drink in his hand.

The servant nodded his head. Organe juice was quite the rarity to be honest. The castle hasn't had an import of it in years and it was Kalcyte's first time drinking it at the breakfast table.

He looked around at his superiors, the Royals of a higher age as him and then back at his drink. Hesitantly he took a sip from his cup and made a face.

"T-Tart..." He muttered quietly to himself before continuing his breakfast like he hadn't tried to drink it at all.

He felt a little embarrassed, being so young around the others, the constant judging of his peers felt amplified.

Lila, the castle bard, played her music quietly in the corner of the room like she does most days.

She strummed the strings of her harp snickering at Kalcyte's reaction to orange juice, of course she couldn't say much about it since she's never had it herself either. It was a typical morning, but just a slight bit odd. Her music filled the room, yet it felt unheard. She began to wonder if there was an attempt on one of the Royal's hearts last night. That wasn't uncommon I mean Lila has wanted to do it several times already, temptation is a funny thing isn't it?

Callumet was elbow deep into the dishwater and was looking rather sourly down at the dirty plates. He had definitely gotten up on the wrong foot this morning, everything was bugging him. From the floors, to the walls, to the carpeting and most of all the royals. They were all so sure of themselves, weren't they? He'd like to give them a scare... But he was only a kitchen-boy. Cal didn't ever feel he was satisfied, he had gotten a lot further than he could have hoped for and yet...

Cal flipped his red hair out of his eyes and went back to fantasizing about stealing one of those golden hearts. That would show them... That would show everyone. He hoped his family would hear of it, and that it would show them that even though they deemed him useless... He could do things. Big things. And he could do them on his own. He was abruptly pulled out by one of the chefs asking him to carry something out to the table. Cal muttered some obscenities under his breath and followed suit, going out to the big room where all the royals were having their breakfast. It annoyed him to no end.

Five Years. Five Years had passed since his mentor fell in battle. Five years had come and gone as if nothing had changed, as if a great warrior and a great man hadnt died. Gerik Too moved on, continued to live, to fight, and to enjoy life. Sure from time to time he would mourn the old mans death, and he would raise a silent toast in his honor when he drank. But Gerik moved on. And as he lay in the grass, listening to wind blow, watching the clouds drift passed he thought about how the world turns, people live, life goes on no matter who lives or dies. Did this make him morose? Did this kill his spirit? No it did not. It Made him realize that you make life the way you want it to be, because the world dosnt care, time dosnt care, and the Gods surely didnt care either. This was why he fought, To make the world a place he wanted to live in. To help people who cant help themselves, and who the world, and gods wont help. This is Why the Desert Tiger fought, and this is why Gerik knew he would never go hungry. As long as the gods aloud evil men to walk the earth people would need Gerik to fight them

With a sigh Gerik finished his musing and rose from the soft grass. He missed the feel of sand under his feet but grass was nice as well. Though as much as he hated being confined by walls he needed to eat so it was time to head back to town. After strapping his large sword to his back and making sure his shortsword was in place on his belt he left the small hill he visited often and walked back to town

The day was bright with barely in clouds in the sky.

Kids ran around the streets, playing games and laughing. Simply enjoying the sunshine.

Others where running errands or shopping in the many shops the city had. Everyone was out and about.

Victoria loved it.

All these happy people going about their daily lives brought a smile to her face that could never be hid.

The beautiful lady sat on a bench on the square smelling one of the beautiful wild roses that grew everywhere.

She was people watching.

And she was quite entertained.

She noticed a couple come out of a store laughing and holding hands.

She saw a child and a dog skipping down one of the streets. The child singing some song she didn't reconize.

She felt so much love for her people.

Victoria stood up and strolled down the road, rose in hand.

Donovan hated this.

His bow had to be restrung.

He didn't have time for this.

He walked briskly out his room and down the stone steps into foyer.

His dobermans Gale and Verdi where asleep buy the hearth. Which was currently blazing.

He crossed the room to the sword rack he had put up against the wall.

He picked out his sword and buckled it to his belt.

He would have to hunt without his bow for today. It was going to be difficult but he really didn't want to deal with fixing it now.

"Come on guys, lets go outside."

He walked out the door into the sunshine, his dogs behind him.

He had to go to the stables to get his horse.

The love of his life.

Kalcyte & Lila

It felt exceptionally lonely at the table with not all the royals eating together today.

Kalcyte looked down at the palm of his hands. They were pink and soft, he's obviously not lifted a finger in his life. When Callument came into the room he smiled, hoping to entertain himself with the company of this man.

"So, how are you...?" Kalcyte asked, brushing some of his long hair behind his ear.

He didn't know the servant's name, it wasn't like he was supposed to anyway. His smile was a bit mocking like, it was hard to tell if he was always like that, or he is especially looking at Callument with superiority.

Lila lapsed in her music for a quick second when Kalcyte had began to talk to Cal.

She observed carefully, continuing her music back on pace.

As Cal placed the tray with the objects he had been asked to bring down on the table-plate, he was spoken to, and it made his muscles freeze for an instant. What kind of a stupid joke was this? Up in his years while moving upwards, he had often been told that as a servant he was never to look anyone higher than him in the eye. Callumet always broke this rule, and he slowly moved his dark blue, purple-ish eyes up to the Royal's face. What did he want? He felt his natural disposition for anger betray him, and it was difficult to answer without gritting his teeth.

"I'm having a lovely morning, your highness," he said, but it sounded like it was as far from the truth as humanly possible. Callumet wasn't much of a liar, especially not when he was angry. "What about yourself?" He fought valiantly to keep his tone as polite as he could, but his diplomacy wasn't always the best. The smug look on his face made him want to pick the trey back up and smash it over his head.

Athalia walked in the large dining hall, her actions and expression as calm as ever. It seemed that the Royals and servants were already there, doing what they should be. She also saw that Cal the Red was there, and it seemed that the young Royal needed something from him. The obvious look of irritance was on his face, something that Athalia had already gone used to, for it happened occasionally when they would eat, but the kitchen boy never really bared such impoliteness on her. After all, she saw everybody in the castle equally, and most respected her back for that. By the end of the hall was The Angel's Echo, ever so lovely, with her wondrous facial mask hiding the entertainment that her eyes were observing, while playing a very delightful tune, so great and fitting in the morning.

The Auric Daggers bowed, Royal and not, something she would normally do, just upon entering the hall by the big golden doors that the guards outside had opened for her.
"Pardon my tardiness. It took me quite a while to be dressed in this..." She paused, and her face almost twitched in disgust. "This dress of over-flashiness, I may say." She acknowledged everyone's presence, having faces of gratitude from the other servants. She was told that it was all right to not give any respect to the mere servants, but she did so anyway. With a calm, honest face, she walked over to the seat beside the young Royal, whom a lot were talking about lately. After all, he was soon to finish his training.

"You are Kalcyte, I assume?" She asked as a servant applied a few cloth to protect her grande clothing from any falling crumbs or left-overs. Another servant came to fix her plate, and silverware. She bared the minimum annoyance that the big white and red floral dress gave her, and bowed in gratefulness. After a few seconds, she found a sitting position enough for her to be comfortable in her clothing, which limited her actions, and she hated that. Looking back to the young male, she forked a little piece of meat, something that she loved to eat, aside from bread, and observed him in a non-interrogative way. "Athalia Crimson, pleased to meet you." She stated with an glad smile.

For some reason, she was very interested in him, and she somehow knew that this young Royal was more than just a shy boy. Of course, her assumptions may be wrong, but she decided on trusting herself today.

Kalcyte & Lila

"I have been doing

wonderful

, thank you for asking~" Kalcyte cooed, giving a pretty generic reply.

Bored would be a better word to describe him right now. He was about to attempt at continuing the conversation with Cal but someone more interesting to him arrived fashionably late.

He looked at her wide eyed and curious when she took a seat next to him when there were plenty of other seats to

sit at. His attention immediately went to her, dropping the conversation flat with Cal.

Lila noticed this and gave a look at Cal saying

kids will be kids...

She smiled, like there was nothing to be done

about it and she was partially right.

Kalcyte nodded his head at the sound of his name, then smiled politely at the tune of hers. "The pleasure is

mine," He stated with a recorded tone, almost as if he had practiced how to speak to his superiors over and over again to where the phrase itself meant nothing.

Cal's eyes narrowed hatefully. He could not stand people who believed they were better than him. He liked none of the royals. None of them. Sure, some of them may look at him the same as others, at least on the surface, but he still disliked them. Strongly. He turned to leave and catched a glimpse of the bard's look. Cal had shut his face down and replied to her look with a shrug, going back to the kitchen, his fists clenched and his entire arms shivering with anger.

He wanted to show them. He wanted to make them suffer for treating him like this. As he returned to the dishes, his surpressed anger put too much pressure on one of the fragile glasses he was trying to rinse out, granting him a scolding from the nearest cook, and a slap upside the head.

Gerik Saw Victoria walking about with a huge grin on her face and a rose in hand. He had no idea who she was, as he concerned himself with absolutely nothing concerning Nobility. Despite this he could tell there was something about her. She seemed to almost have this...glow. With a shrug he put on a smile and walked up to her. He tried to not look intimidating, but with his scarred face and arms, huge sword, and dirty cloths he did not look like he did nice things for a living.

"Good Morning to you Miss" he said with an exaggerated bow. If hed know she was Royal this might come across as Sarcastic but this was truly just his way to flatter women. "I must say, That rose seems to pale in comparison to you. its hardly even fair" he had a slight smirk

10 Post Summary

Breakfast is being served in the palace. Only a few Royals have showed up causing some suspicion about where they might be and what has happened to them.

The kitchen boy, Cal, has almost had it with the Royal's attitude, which is completely understandable.

Kalcyte had been noticed by one of his superiors, Athalia, because of his coming of age.

Lila, the castle bard, played her music in the corner of the main hall, judging the everyone and the events during breakfast.

Vanir entered the dining hall and bowed.

"My apologies, I am late due to my negligence. Pray forgive me." Vanir said, taking a seat.

He smiled at the bard as she played her music.

"Kalcyte, how are you young one? I have not spoken to you in a long time. You have grown." Vanir said, smiling at him kindly and politely.

Vanir meant no disrespect calling Kalcyte young, knowing that it might upset him.

Kalcyte & Lila

There was yet another pause in Lila's music when Vanir had entered late. She smiled weakly, wondering why

everyone was showing up late or not showing up at all. She must not have been the only one to notice this, right?

Kalcyte frowned slightly letting his cheeks puff out. He felt a tinge of embarrassment to be talking about how much

he has grown.

"In just two more moons I will no longer be so young, Vanir..." He pointed out calmly, raising his chin a bit higher.

To be honest though, Kalcyte looked more like a woman than the man he wanted to portray himself to be sometimes. This display of false pride came out more adorably than the young Royal had hoped and it made Lila almost loose her good posture from allowing herself to laugh. Another slip up like this and she may be questioned, so Lila did her best to hide her face behind the harp before Kalcyte had shot a glare over her way.

Vanir laughed brightly.

"Two more moon, three more, it makes no difference to me. You are still young yet not as young as you once were." Vanir replied, smiling at him.

Vanir chuckled. "I mean no disrespect Kal, only an observation my friend."

Callumet stepped down to the first floor, out one of the small doors that lead to the outside, to empty his washbasket of the dirty water with leftover-foodbits in it. He was feeling even worse than before, his head pounding in frustration, and he felt like a caged animal. He emptied the washbasket briskly onto the ground, seeing the back of some guy he didn't recognize, and one of the royals.

Victoria... He seemed to remember. He stuck his tongue out to no one in particular and walked back inside, traversing the dank steps back upstairs towards the dining hall, being the quickest way back to the kitchen.

Kalcyte & Lila

Kalcyte bit his tongue in distaste. He didn't have the right to say anything more to Vanir. He wasn't an equal yet.

Just a little longer, and you will be treated as an equal. The young Royal told himself repeatedly in his head before getting up suddenly. The glasses shook gently as he stood there, the palm of his hands pressed against the table. Finally Kalcyte backed away and bowed politely to Athalia and Vanir.

"Excuse me, I'm afraid I have some lessons to attend to before it gets too late." With that said Kalcyte had left the

room.

Lila's eyes widened, her pace on the harp slow, almost to a complete stop, but there was a mood that needed to be in

the dining room, and it had to be cheerful. If there was anything she could do, it was put a smile on people's faces, and that was what she was there for.

Marcel lounged lazily in the wide field behind the palace that was used for riding lessons and sport. He was sprawled out, with his hand raised above his face to shield his eyes from the sun. The sunshine was bright and warm, the smell of sweet grass in the air, and birds were chirping pleasantly. His bay-coloured horse, Sun, was grazing quietly nearby. Everything was quiet and peaceful, the hum of summer in the air. Marcel got up and dusted the dirt from his clothes, he walked over to Sun, and patted her neck gently. He began weaving small blue flowers into her mane.

He was very bored waiting for Kalcyte to come and attend his lesson. A stable hand had already bridled and saddled Kalcyte's horse. Now, all Marcel needed was his student to actually appear.

Moving through the palace, servants walked at Kalcyte's fast pace to dress him for his riding lessons. There was a

force in his step, fired up from breakfast. He took deep breaths and shook his head, stopping in his tracks so that a servant can tie his hair up into a pony tail.

He raised his hand quickly, dismissing the servants once he had reached the doors. The sun made him squint as he

walked over to Marcel calmly, but with a purpose. He looked Marcel up and down before speaking.

"I apologize for my delay, there was some...catching up to do at breakfast this morning."

"Good, " said Marcel cheerfully, as he checked the girth on Sun. He mounted Sun, and adjusted the reins. "Come on, let's do a nice trot around the field a few times, and then we'll go on the trail. I'll be your guide and your guard today," he said, "Don't want anyone targeting you, mister," he grinned, indicating towards Kalcyte's Gold Heart. However, they both knew the trail around the palace was hardly a dangerous place to be, or else Marcel knew he would never be able to take the young royal out.

"So, mister Kalcyte, would you mind telling me what happened at breakfast today?"

"No need to be that formal." She told the young Royal with a grin, assuring him that she wasn't as strict and formal as the others. A very small, but invisible wave of surprise went over Athalia as she noticed Cal's actions a little bit rougher. Well, I guess everything is never as it seems, especially in this very palace. She said in her mind, specifically to no one, and acknowledged Vanir as he entered the hall and apologized for him being late. Athalia kept on eating afterwards like there was no tomorrow, slicing and munching on meat, vegetables and bread, while listening to the fellow equal Royal have a short discussion with Kalcyte. Honestly, she would hate it if she were to be asked like that, and on the other hand, she was grateful that she wasn't in training anymore. She stood from her seat right after the young Royal exited the hall, and she did the same. "I'll be leaving as well. Thanks for the meal." She told everyone with a smile and bowed once more before leaving.

She didn't really have anything to do, aside from the duty given to her that she was responsible for the young Royals until they all become equal. Nodding, she walked over to the wide field behind their palace. Servants escorted her towards more doors to open them in front of her, while the others thought that she was about to have class. She dismissed them, and simply walked out towards the big field of green pasture.
"Please, don't be thinking that I'll still be having classes." She smiled at the servants, who either looked away or didn't look at her at all. "I'm an equal Royal already, and you should really remember that." Big majestic doors were closed behind her, and she waved at Kalcyte. She also noticed Marcel there, so she went towards the two. "Riding classes." She muttered. "I remember that time when you were still teaching me, Marcel." She told her former riding instructor happily, but now, she has learned everything she should've. "I'll be stationing myself here out of boredom." She said confidently, and continued with a smile. "Do you two mind if I do?"

She was pretty well-known for her words of non-formality, but that was already accepted in this palace, being that no one was really able to stop her from doing so. She had learned more of different kinds of speaking whenever she joined in the wars or went on a few tasks during her training, and it had affected her speaking to a more, un-royal manner. Or at least, that's what others called it. Even her language teachers already gave up in forcing her to speak in outmost formality, every single time. She growled a bit, looking down on her dress, which still annoyed her.
"I really don't like this, as usual." She admitted with a little frown, wanting to at least cut her dress with her own hands, just to make it more normal-looking.

Vanir sighed.

The boy needs to know that I DO view him as an equal. He is a child but a Royal just like the rest of us.

Vanir dismissed the issue and finished his meal.

He turned to Lila and smiled.

"You play beautifully, please do not stop yet. Today is a time to be merry. You're music is something special and should not be hidden." Vanir said, smiling kindly at her.

He moved his chair slightly toward her direction and listened to her play.

10 Post Summary

Vanir had arrived late for breakfast.

Kalcyte was disturbed by his presence and had left to head for riding class, he was running a bit behind anyway, leaving Marcel to wait for him outside.

Cal had seen Victoria with Gerik when stepping out of the palace for a moment but had quickly returned back.

Athelia left breakfast not long after Kalcyte had and then came to watch Kalcyte take his lessons.

That left Lila and Vanir in the main hall.

Kalcyte mounted his horse and moved over beside Marcel. He paused thinking about this morning then shook his

head. "Everything is fine, like I said, it was just some catching up to do," He gave a false smile to Marcel, but his attention was then turned to Athalia, who appears to have come to watch him. He gave a face, unsure about why she wanted to watch, it was just lessons, it wasn't like it was a match, or anything extremely interesting.

He heard her talking to Marcel about how she used to get lessons too and then a small smile spread across his face.

"Athalia," He began, "Why don't you change out of that dress and get into some more suited clothes for riding?

If you're here out of boredom, just watching wouldn't satisfy you completely."

Back inside, Lila was about to stop playing, and maybe squeeze her breakfast in since the room seemed to be

thinning out, but Vanir had requested for her to play awhile longer. She blinked a couple times before smiling sweetly.

"You're words are ever so kind, your majesty," She replied before returning her fingers to the harp.

Just until he's satisfied...

She told herself.

Marcel shrugged at Kalcyte's answer, and assumed that perhaps the royal's matters were private. Instead, Marcel turned around at the sound of Athalia's voice. Athalia had been one of his old students not so long ago, she had always been focused during their lessons, and Marcel was probably the one who actually slacked off the most. He grinned at Athalia, "Yes, Miss, please join us," he said, "Mister Kalcyte and I will wait for you here. We'll be going on a trail ride."

David slammed the doors open I'm back from my 50 day trip" he had to take for the smell of food it smell good and the beautiful music he didn't know if his brother plays instrument he still pull up a chair and played is loot beside the girl in perfect harmony
