I'll start. šŸ„°

I love love LOVE Deadly Class, but I've only ever met 2 people who are into this show/comic series. I've actually discovered the show before I found the comics/graphic novel.

Unfortunately the show itself got cancelled in the first season. šŸ˜Ŗ So I'm forced to continue reading the graphic novel.

I remember hearing about this on Syfy? I had meant to catch an episode but completely forgot.

For me, it's Night Sky. Awesome series on Prime that was unfortunately cancelled before its.....prime. Urgh. There were so many questions that needed answers to. Still so disgusted about it.

Oh, Iā€™ve heard about Deadly Class from a friend! Itā€™s disheartening that they cancelled it too early.

My niche shows were probably iZombie or Santa Clarita Diet because they didnā€™t follow all the zombie invasion tropes. A really divergent take from things like TWD/Walking Dead. The story was creative and the heroines were really strong characters! Itā€™s just too bad that Santa Clarita Diet was cancelled and iZombie sort of dropped the ball on the last season (at least it got an ending though).

Idk what counts as niche here, but anyone remember the movie Osmosis Jones? (It came out in 2001) Its basically a detective movie mixed with Cellā€™s At Work, but non-anime. My family made it a tradition to watch it whenever we got sick and it stuck with me. Everything but the live action parts are great, the play on words are genius at times, along with little animation details like the fire having little molecules conections as it dissipates upwards. But it does have a bit of the cliche ā€œwoman designā€ when it comes to the woman characters though.

Hercules and Xena the Animated Movie: The Battle for Mount Olympus is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Disneyā€™s Dinosaur. That movie was my jam as a kid and no one I know has seen it.

90's kid here. I definitely know of that one, although I didn't really watch it much.

Onmyoji šŸ˜… yes that's exactly why I have the username lol
Epitome of niche movies that no one knows about but I enjoy them a lot.

There were a couple Japanese movies in early 2000s, based on the series of novels. And then there was a recent Chinese move Dream of Eternity which is basically same characters but Chinese version.
There is also a mobile game Onmyoji which is also about the same characters but with different story, and another recent movie based on the game.

I've never met a single person who watched those movies or heard about the novels. I met only one person who played the mobile game. A couple people watched the Chinese movie because I told them it was on Netflix. And that's all.

Wait you talking about the Yin Yang Master?

Are you trying to say that you're the 2nd person who watched at least one of the movies XD
The Mandarin ones weren't bad, though I liked the first one better. Are the Japanese ones available to stream anywhere? I'm in the US.

You watched the two movies on Netflix? The one with Deng Lun and Mark Chao is closer to original novels characterization, even though it had too much action XD
The other one (I even forgot how it was titled) is purely about the game and doesn't have much in common with the novels. It was fun but more forgettable in my opinion.

I don't know if any of the Japanese ones are available on US streaming sites, I'm not from US and don't have access to any of them. But the movies are so old and weren't very popular so I doubt they're still around. I still have them on DVD somewhere.

Yeah I read that Dream of Eternity followed the source material more closely, but the first re-adaptation was more to my liking.

Haha well I'll have to see if I can find them anywhere- access to Mandarin films has gotten better here, but there are still instances of movies that will only be available in the English dub, even when it says 'Mandarin Version' in the title x.x
Don't think Japanese movies have the same issue, so it's possible they'll be easier to find.

Let me know if you manage to watch the Japanese movies! :D They're much closer to the source material. I think those movies didn't age well but I still love them!

There was a TV show in the UK called Nearly Famous that never really took off because it was broadcast quite late at night - but it reminded me a bit of Skins.

There's this fucking amazing animated drama called Pantheon that finished airing earlier this fall. It's a legitimately mature animated series with a lot of vibes of stuff like Deus Ex and Serial experiments lain, poses some interesting questions and whatnot. But I swear, for the life of me, nobody else is talking about this show. Probably because it's locked down on a streaming service nobody is using, heh.

A show called ā€œHome Movies.ā€ Enough said. This really niche poorly animated adult cartoon that aired during the early days of Adult Swim.

It has a certain charm to it and I love it. The voice acting in particular is phenomenal. The show flows like a natural and normal human interaction since a lot of the lines are just the VAā€™s improvising and the directors just leaving stuff in there.

The voice acting always had its charm because it just felt so real and natural. Like theyā€™d stutter sometimes or pause and it all just added to the flow which I really found I enjoyed.

Plus I just liked the show in general, the writing, and its jokes. I feel like it was really niche and very unpopular but I like it.

(also lol, says ā€œenough saidā€ after saying the show name and proceeds to go on talking about it)

I loved this show growing up, Adult Swim has a lot of hidden gems people sleep on for sure. Home Movies is a good one, and Venture Bros is a personal favorite of my own.

On the topic of obscure franchises though, Kick Ass (both films and comics) would be my own Iā€™d like to mention.

Iā€™m definitely a cartoon person so my niche show is Bee and Puppycat. The art style was just really adorable, but the whimsicalness is what kept me watching. If you liked Adventure Time, you should try this.

How to With Jon Wilson is such an underrated show and it pains me that there are so few episodes!

The Sex Lives of College Girls is an ongoing show that honestly needs a better title because even outside of the raunchiness it's a great depiction of college/dorm life with roommates and I absolutely adore all of the characters! Both are on HBO Max if yall wanna give it some love.

In terms of finished shows, Players is a hilarious mockumentary of a professional League of Legends team in the same vein as The Last Dance. As someone who has followed esports since its inception I enjoyed how realistic everyone was while still being likable. Plus, it was made by the same people who did American Vandal (also a great series).

Lastly, I've been watching Wonder Showzen and I want a revival SO BAD. A lot of the material has aged impeccably well and honestly, is way funnier than any sketch/improv shows out right now.
