After the fight Rai will most likely go to a hospital and after go meet contacts re: the 000 designation so a round of downtime is good. Rapid fire posts > collabs is better for me cuz not always able to respond timely.

Alright, all interactions are open and free after the next GM post, which would just be wrapping up the current arc and foreshadowing/introducing some elements of the next arc. You are free to not react to it if you believe your character is uninterested or was knocked unconscious

Hopefully some more posts this weekend so the GM post can be out Sunday or Monday

If you need me or anyone else to interact with for the free timeskip period, please reach out to them (or me) for those interactions.

Good to see some posts up

Since it appears that most people have gone with the time skip and hospitalization themselves already, I'm going to add a lore post on Mistol's main hospital, as the next arc is going to be centered around it and the mysterious goings-on that occurs there. The lore post about the hospital here

Here is a character that would be showing up in the next GM post, Scavenger Reef. She was a squad leader in the rescue and retrieval mission, perhaps some characters caught a glimpse of her previously. She'll just be debriefing what happened a little bit and then go do her own thing, then you guys would all be free to do anything you want after getting out of the hospital
GOp6O45l.png

The Dapper Mog The Dapper Mog and BFabulous BFabulous you guys have a day or two to post if you want to.

There will be a base art update. Later there will be environmental art of the hospital itself since I didn't expect all of you to suddenly spontaneously hospitalize yourselves when the hospital is actually a plot point.

New IC post is up, it's mostly foreshadowing and dealing with the aftermath of the humanoid attack.

As previously said, you guys would be rewarded for your efforts in the battle, mostly monetarily. If you want a medal of honour and an awards ceremony...those don't exist yet so just take the money.

The next arc will be a 1 month time skip, so I'm expecting people to know each other's characters somewhat by then, please at least discuss a little about character impressions OOC even if no IC posts are made.

That'll be all, next arc will start back in the warehouse base, if you write any posts about shopping and interior decorating just let me know I will put the corresponding items in the base.

Going to once again encourage ooc discussion of character interaction a d relationships because that is going to become more important beyond here

Hello and how has it been going everyone

As planned we will be going to do a 1 month time skip IC in the next GM post, which likely will be up tomorrow. If your character did something important during this 1 month period or did something that would require my input, please let me know here ooc or DM me. I apologize for the delay as I was prepping the first major arc of the RP.

Since some players have gone inactive again I'm going to ask whether people still here prefer another recruitment spree or just continue with the people we have (3 is the bare minimum I planned for this).

Here is a teaser for the next arc, including enviromental art of St. Nautilus Hospital.
OOC Note: The "special" plant that covers the buildings of the hospital is kelp/seaweed, but because Mistol is extremely landlocked, IC wise no one should know what it actually is.

"Have we become 'the living' yet?"

Yeah thinkin we should hit up the int CHK again.

As for questions:

  • Rai would have checked up on what more owenios knows
  • Talk to reef to see what happen to humanoid remains
  • Talk to any of her contacts to find out wut up with the 000 designation for the new STF.

Prolly just handwave the attempted group meetup at the warehouse with wutever info you give.

Also Imma change up Rai's persona after her visit with her estranged sister. Depending if we get new blood or not she will be more team oriented.

Well.
-Owenios doesn't know much, he hangs out at muduo attacks because that's sort of his habit/hobby/job, he also is searching for high quality or special muduo due to something that happened in his past. What exactly that is he doesn't tell people, because he knows people who want that information would do something extremely stupid once they get it. It's related to his past and you could probably break into his house to find out more. You'll have to prove your worthiness to him though, if you want to full story. Although he is clearly knows something he doesn't actually know much about the humanoid, other than the fact it came from outside of the city from the eastern direction. What exactly happened outside of the city Owenios won't know, but the Sentinel Division might.

-Reef is really just a basic worker, she follows orders and is the type to not question them. She doesn't actually know where the humanoid remains went, in fact she doesn't even really know what happen to normal muduo remains, they basically drop them down a chute and the rest isn't the responsibility of the Scavengers anymore. In fact, Reef's unit doesn't usually retrieve muduo corpses, they retrieve...the other things that gets retrieved in these scenes. She does have her own secrets that will be revealed soon...

-The STF system is actually decently new, although the other divisions have been around for many decades, the STF system was only made 25 years ago when Luden got into power. Depending on how old her contacts are, there is rumour of another 000 team that happened 25 years ago when the STF system was first created. No one really knows much about them or what ended up happening to them, some say its just a "prototype" team for the whole system, some say its a special force related to the humanoid attack 30 years ago, some think Luden made it for personal reasons. What actually happened to this team and who was in it 25 years ago is also largely unknown, rumours include they died in combat, was politically purged, just disbanded/retired, or they left Mistol for various reasons.

Considering there are new people showing interest I want to push back the start date of the official first arc beginning a little.

Base thread will be updated with the humanoid muduo battle recap soon.

Oh, for you mind if I ask which characters are Still currently active? I'm interested in collabing but not sure who I can still work with haha

Right now it'd be Remus, Anthony, and Rai'Shauni.

Omeda might be coming back apparently, and Dominic joined when I did, but in terms of activity it's just the three above.

"I'm 'stonished."

static_wikia_nocookie_net-latest.jpg

Name: Maverick Cloud
Age: 27 y/o
Combat Experience: 11 years
Department Transfer History: Sentinel // Armament (7 years of generally/alternating working for both in a combat context. 1 year before that was other general duties and whatnot before he got moved up and started moving forward in his military career and ranked up. 3 years of working the streets and general emergency services.)
Protective Ward: No. He doesn't see the point in it. If he dies, he dies. No use sticking around in this godforsaken world.

Eye Color: Red (Normal); ??? (Activated?)
Ability Name: N/A. Slate.
Visionary Ability: None documented so far. Maverick is currently classified as a slate. However, it could be possible Maverick is lying about his visionary status and his ability works in a subtle manner yet to be determined or properly examined.
Equipment:
  • Three Handguns
  • One Carbon Steel Shinogi-Zukuri Katana
  • One Stainless Steel Tomahawk Axe
  • One Heavy Assault Rifle
  • Custom-Designed Bulletproof/Stabproof Armor
  • Several Knives (Throwing & Otherwise)
  • Grenades (Explosive, Smoke, & Flashbang)
  • Small, Compact Medical Kit
  • Small Provisions Kit
  • Nightvision & Infrared

Personality:
Not one to care or listen much to what is happening unless it interests him or is part of the mission, Maverick earns his name. While not going out of his way to disobey orders, he does tend to skirt the edges quite often. The main reason he does not mess around too much is because the pay, benefits, and generally everything else that is cushy about this high-stakes occupation keeps him comfortable and it provides him the risk and thrill he likes to operate on.

While on the field, Maverick operates coldly with precision. The most one will get out of him is a sarcastic comment or remark before going back to his job. Occasionally, even under the mask, he smirks in the face of Muduo and Death, despite being a Slate. However, he does not work well with others, which even he admits is not his best quality, having the foresight and self-awareness to realize that from the get-go. He does not go out of his way to annoy or tick off others or cause dissension. It is just he does not communicate and goes off on his own accord because he is more of a man of action than just talking. It doesn't mean he is dumb or lacks the proper strategic mind any soldier needs. Maverick would not survive this long if he had the average intelligence of every other soldier. His quality of being unpredictable or operating on his own can be offset and put under control occasionally if he is offered something he wants or needs.

No matter what thought, he follows orders to the best of his ability, only breaking them on few occasions when he risked life and limb for his fellow soldiers and even fewer incidences where he did something rather unorthodox when it came to fulfilling those orders. Usually, he sticks to a plan unless he believes he has a more efficient or effective way of solving it.

This often leads to him being sent alone or given a separate directive. However, growing older now, he has mellowed somewhat and is getting better at working with others and not operating on his own accord, but it is still not his strongest suit nor have the impulses been completely quelled. Not a leader nor does he intend to be one as he does his own thing. Just let him do what he was sent to do and he will do it well. No questions there.

Off the field, however, he remains generally the same, just slightly more talkative. He is not the dark, brooding type at all nor is he the constantly energetic, upbeat type. In fact, he is rather nonchalant and lethargic as an individual with a devil-may-care attitude and a practiced and usually subtle confidence to back it up. He often spends his time napping, eating, drinking, or just generally enjoying one of his many hobbies. He reads books--with rumors about him reading even the dirty or trashy kind (neither of which not mutually exclusive to the other), watches movies, listens to music, and practices a few of the arts, drawing and music. His prized Walkman and his collection of music that he takes with him on the field are his prized possessions, only second to his vinyl record player and stereo system that he has set up.

His snark and general sarcasm is prevalent in his language and how he carries himself, often only using it to a serious extent when he sees a slight issue with something or just doesn't want to deal with something or someone. Otherwise, it is lighthearted or off-hand, one-note remarks, meant to lighten himself up or a situation. Rarely is it used to insult someone, and, when he does, it'll be the last thing he says before leaving the conversation. However, he can become more talkative and even excited, blowing up in energy and drawing things slightly out of proportion to work up people or a crowd out of light fun or as a joke. Humorous but reserved and subtle in that humor usually. If someone genuinely tries to hold a conversation with him and he does not see it as annoying or a waste of time, he can become a good conversationalist for a bit. If his social battery does not run out too soon.

General History:
Maverick is an open book. At least, he pretends to be that way. While he does not talk about his personal life as he has stated that there is nothing of real importance there and anything Misthart Tower need to know will probably be figured out by any psychological analysis they conduct. However, he clearly and truthfully details the entirety of his career previous to entering the Tower and applying as a soldier.

He was a child soldier. An errand boy. A messenger. Between the Blue Market and the Immortal Lotus. He did a good dozen or so jobs for them that were a lot more violent than that. A lot more. At the end of the day, a lot of blood was on his hands, a lot of dirty tricks up his sleeves, and the mind to see it all through without blinking.

Perfect traits for a combatant needed in the fight against Mudou. Especially as a Slate.

Yeah, right. Like he went into that much detail. Maverick gave them a much nice, more abbreviated version. Why? Mudou were mindless monsters. Him? He was a monster with a mind. 'Was' being the key word. He never planned on betraying Misthart Tower. In fact, the violence caught up with him. He was sick of it. It had damaged his mind and life enough. He wanted to put his skills to good use and learn more. More than what the streets would teach him. In exchange for staying here, all he wanted were any books, music, movies, or anything pop culture-related they had. It would help ease his soul. Keep his mind off the past and even the present.

After all, the arts were soothing balm and food for the soul. So he planned on investing himself in a number of hobbies in his spare time.

Of course, assuming they agreed to his terms. If they did that, all would go smoothly. And they did accept those terms, easily enough. Besides, Maverick proved to be a worthwhile investment. He did as he was told, only causing trouble on occasion to keep them on their toes. He was Maverick Cloud after all. He picked the name right there in that meeting after all. No going back on it now. Maverick only sees his life ending two ways. Either he finds a reason to live and settle down or keeps at this job until it kills him. After all, the world has gone to hell and he's lived through most of it.

Why should he stick around anymore than doing his civic duty and helping people? And all was going so well. Until they told him he was getting put on a special taskforce team. Say whaaaaaat? Just perfect. Just when his life was settling into a rhythm. Welp, maybe he can shake things up for this team. Or not. Depends on how he feels. If he wants a nap or if he wants to watch them become dysfunctional all on their own. That sort of stuff. Teams tend to fall apart without someone giving proper supervision. Maybe with enough time, this team will be gone and he's off of it for good. Until then, he has to watch their backs until the end of the line, right? What a pain. A real drag.

What's a guy to do to get some peace and quiet until he decides he wants some action, eh?

Honestly, at this point, Maverick is just 'stonished at everything. Real 'stonished.

Miscellaneous Info:
  • The word " 'stonished" that Maverick invented does not mean astonished or anything similar to that word. What it means is something only he knows and uses in his own context.
  • While the word “ ‘stonished” is his personal favorite, Maverick had made up a variety of words and slang he uses that is uniquely him. He even goes out of his way to give nicknames or terms to people. Sometimes he even uses his made-up slang when giving such nicknames.
  • The mask and hat always stay on. The hat is a bit more optional sometimes, but the mask always stays on. However, it is always clean, suggesting there are multiple backups. He is often seen chewing mints to keep the mask breath away from himself. He eats privately, alone.
  • Maverick actively tried to avoid being placed on this taskforce, citing his own inability to work with a team all too well. He really tried to work the tower over to his point of view and let him be. However, the answer he got in return was: "This will be a good experience for you and them." Yes, like this was kindergarten. Oh boy. At least he tried. And they should count themselves lucky he didn't opt for a trail by combat. Kidding, of course. Those things were powerful, but, ultimately, stupid, in his mind at least, unless he could work such a fight to his favor. Win the battles that are in your favor, nothing less than that.
  • No one is allowed to touch his stuff without his permission or he will put two bullets in you. Period. He has wasted a good amount of resources and bullets to get that point across. Don't believe him? Check the bullet holes around the doorway of his room and the outside hallway next to his door. That should be proof enough. (However, this does not mean he is possessive of his stuff. It is just he has worked long and hard to earn it and does not want it broken. The man often shares his stuff on his own accord or when asked and is quite kind about it. He just has a couple strict rules about him. This is one of them. Please abide. We don't have the ammunition left for this.)
  • He is interested in the rumors regarding Misthart and all the various factions. He plans on trying to unravel them when the timing is right. Particularly, he is interested in the rumor of eating Mudou flesh and wonders that if he does eat it, will he die? Or a fate worse than that? Perhaps he gets an ability. Although, out of all the outcomes, he is banking (expecting) on the dying part.
  • Favorite foods are as follows: Chicken sandwich, Pizza, Spaghetti, Pepperoni Roles, Calzones, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Vanilla & Caramel Ice Cream, and finally Potstickers lathered in butter is his favorite dish and his comfort food.
  • Hobbies: Photography (Takes pictures of different parts of the city or of restaurants wherever he goes. He often compiles a scrapbook too as well. Rarely will there be a picture involving himself.), Music, Drawing, Reading, Baking & Tea (But not cooking. He only knows the basics and a few recpipes. Not his favorite activity too much.), Motorcycling, Skateboarding, General Exercise (on his own time and energy. The man is lazy but fit as a horse, as the expression goes.), Martial Arts (Particularly studying the way of the sword and how to craft and smith them.), and Mechanical Engineering & Designing (designed and implemented his own combat armor to suit his more parkour and acrobatic nature while also keeping him protected when he fights in combat situations.)

Okay description OOC, but Misthart Tower (and in some extension, Mistol itself) doesn't have soldiers, it has "employees", "combatant civilians", and "operators". It's actually generally frowned upon to "militarized" Misthart. This is like, a symbolic plot thing that will be discussed later on.

If you can take selfies with those 1970s style cameras that use film then I guess it works, digital cameras are still largely non-existent/experimental technology.

The book "Art of War" doesn't exist because ancient China and Sun Tzu didn't exist, muduo has basically existed since prehistory so human history was fundamentally altered by them. There are likely works on strategy and warfare in general though (yes, human on human war has happened but was very scarcely documented) and you can reference quotes from irl literature, just don't get too specific with titles and models of stuff because this is a totally alternative history of the human race to the point where it might as well be a purely fictional world.

Other than that seems fine, if you do want to give him a power later please discuss it with me, accepted.

Oh yeah and uh, lawyers technically also don't exist there is no formal legal system in Mistol other than spontaneous self evoked trial by combat (otherwise known as two sides having a fight to decide who gets their way). But bureaucracy in general does exist.

Are people tired of me telling them certain stuff don't exist yet?

If you are let me know if something not existing in universe would severely damage your ideas or the way you play your character and I'll see about letting it exist.

Cresion Breezes Cresion Breezes I was thinking of making another Slate, since as far as I knew there weren't any, but Paperbag beat me to it. My concept is pretty much the opposite of his except for that fact. Still, let me know if you'd like me to make another Visionary for the sake of variety. I'm not picky and I prefer to create characters with the group dynamic in mind.

Slates that are still slates in adulthood in combat roles are actually considered decently rare so I prefer the cast to not be oversaturated with them

I read you loud and clear. The photography thing isn't just selfies or i can edit that out. But he would take photos of different scenes and places most definitely and hang them around his room or put it in a scrapbook. Also, I only used the term soldier because I wasn't sure what other term to use. (I did look at and read the whole lore so maybe I missed something! Idk)

Also, I'll get rid of the Art of War thing. I put it in there for fun/flavor but I'll edit it out. I had no clue this was so far back in history. I thought this was more recent but that's my bad. (Again, I read all the lore so maybe I missed something or something was implied and I didn't understand it. My bad)

Also, I used the lawyer term because I assume there would be laws and stuff somewhat similar but if there is a different type of bureaucracy or people do trail by combat, i can edit that too. He would basically set up a counter-argument is all (but fail nonetheless.)

I will wait on your feedback. I'll do these edits as soon as I have your okay/specifics and adjust it to what you said earlier.

You making the opposite of Maverick? Bring it on. Ready to ignore (or nap on) this opposite to the point of frustration. Also, haha! I'm the only Slate! (kidding/joking)
Can't wait to see what you make!

Alright, there are things I didn't make exactly clear because I wanted it to be slowly uncovered through the plot, should have expected people to make very intricate backstories so it's my bad so I generally deal with them on a case by case basis now.

And I did mention muduos exist for "all of recorded history" and never really specified this takes place on Earth (it does, but it doesn't really have to, think like Attack on Titan it doesn't really matter where it takes place because the plot is kind of enclosed location-wise anyways), but I suppose the relatively modern-day aesthetic would make people assume things.\

There's just no real "legal" system so the profession of lawyers isn't a real thing, there are still technically rules, like unspoken rules and rules of the street that people follow, it's just not a formal system with a court and judges and lawyers.

You making the opposite of Maverick? Bring it on. Ready to ignore (or nap on) this opposite to the point of frustration. Also, haha! I'm the only Slate! (kidding/joking)

The thing about slates is that I made them for people who want to make characters without powers, but powers are really just a secondary manifestation of another unobservable special quality, and the protag cast is extremely potent in that quality because you guys are suppose to be the chosen ones or something like that, blah blah blah plot. So it's best to limit there numbers unless people really want to play them.

Appearance: Credit to TrNyteal on Twitter for the illustration.
Name: Aurelia Vyson
Age: 24
Combat Experience: 2 years
Department Transfer History: Orginally part of Armaments for 2 years but was eventually transferred to Research.
Protective Ward: Not as of now, but she's still debating on accepting it.

Eye Color: Yellow
Ability Name: N/A
Visionary Ability: Aurelia has vastly increased mental capabilites resulting in an perfect eidetic memory, capable of remembering every detail that she's ever seen or heard since she gained her Visionary abilities. This also gives her enhanced information processing capabilites, allowing her to gather, understand, and store information much faster than a normal person.
Equipment:
- Standard-Issue Combat Pistol
- Smoke Grenades
- Standard-Issue Combat Knife
- Bolt-Action Rifle
- Standard-Issue Binoculars

Personality: Aurelia is best described as.... Level-headed. She's calm and collected, even in stressful situations, and for the most part is a very laid-back person. Though that often comes with the stigma of apathy, though she doesn't do much to quell those concerns either. When motivated however, she's a force to be reckoned with, setting her mind to a singular task until it sees completion. She's also incredibly intelligent thanks to her abilities, and can often be found in the Research Department with her head stuffed into notes of whatever topic happens to tickle her fancy that day.

In the field her demeanor generally doesn't change, though she speaks less, only replying when spoken to or when the situation calls for it (She says it's to help her focus). She's a follower not a leader, mainly relying on her team to back up her less than ideal fighting capabilites. Her aim is good, though bullets only do so much. Where she does shine however, is in her deductive and tactical mind. Given the proper knowledge and time she can solve almost any problem thrown at her.

General History: Aurelia grew up alongside her father, Sylan, and older brother, Emile, on the outskirts of Mistol near the Blue Markets, where she would witness the constant humdrum of peddlers and visionaries doing business with.... varying degrees of ethicality, to say the least. Throughout this time her father had begun to implement himself into the Blue Markets as a low-profile trader of Muduo parts, particularly of the limbs of said creatures. Eyes are hard to come across, but limbs? Those were always some of the last things picked off by merc Visionaries looking to make a quick buck or two.

The Vysons weren't poor by any regard, as they carved out a nice enough living in the outer reaches of the mist thanks to their Father, though after he managed to hire a "personal" Visionary to acquire his parts, he became a bit more... eccentric. Better quality parts began rolling out of his stock, which in turn led to more wealth, social standing, and opportunities. As the Vysons wealth grew, their family began to drift apart. Sylan had begun obsessing over the most prized possessions of his merchandise, even to the point of naming them, and speaking to them.

Though not so soon after his demeanor began changing, a Muduo attack near the Blue Markets occurred in the middle of the night, sending everyone running for the thicker mists further into the city, aside from the few scattering of Visionaries that had chosen to stay and fight. Aurelia watched as an Amalgam level Muduo began ripping its way through the outer sections of the city. Terrified and unsure of what to do, Aurelia could only stand and watch as this happened. Emile grabbed her hand and began pleading with her to make a run for it, forcing her down the stairs of their house. Sylan on the other hand had already shoved his "prized possessions" into various bags and pockets before booking it towards Misthart Tower by himself, but the second he stepped out the door he was only greeted with razor sharp claws directly to his eye sockets.

Aurelia, witnessing her fathers body completely slump to the floor as his eyes now looked directly into hers from a different form, a much more horrifying form, caused her body to shut down and forcing her to go unconscious. When she opened her eyes once again however, she didn't see the pearly gates into the afterlife, but rather an almost annoyingly bright light directly over the top over her. Rubbing her eyes and sitting up, a twinge of pain shot through her abdomen. Looking around it was clear she was in a hospital of sorts. Eventually, some nurses came in and explained that her brother and father had both died protecting her in the Muduo attack, but she already knew what really happened. She remembered it so clearly that it infuriated her. She remembered vividly every single thing that she'd felt in that moment. Anger. Fear. Sadness. Denial. Pain. They hit her like a armored truck, forcing her to pass out once again. And again. And again...

After being released from the hospital she took it upon herself to do some reflecting on what exactly she wanted to do from here on out. Eventually she chose to take a job in the Armament Department of Misthart Tower in order to support herself, and after about 2 years of much deliberation, she eventually transferred to Research, where she began extensive looks into the potential cabilities of Muduo and Visionaries alike.

Miscellaneous Info: None right now. Will add later.

Cresion Breezes Cresion Breezes I was planning to have a CS out yesterday or today, but Zufaix character's power is pretty similar to what I'd envisioned, so it looks like I'll have to tweak my concept significantly or overhaul it from the ground up. So, I'll be a little later than anticipated. Maybe tomorrow or the day after.

Alright, I got you. I made small edits through the thing to fit what you said and an extra sentence or two in the bio for elaboration/proofread and decided to fix a few things. Nothing major. Mostly, if not almost all, the same.

I wanted to make a Slate because no one else had done so and the fact was I had no idea what to do for a super ability. If I decide on one later, good for me and I'll talk to you about it.

"These abilities are curses, but with the right mindset we can turn them to our advantage. Care to discuss for a while?"

I see you. I see the personality. Two cool cucumbers have arrived, huh? Either they going to be okay with one another or hate each other.

Eh, well, Maverick is too nonchalant for hate. Just don't try to deduce what's under the mask. Or in his pockets. Or what's in his room. Or under his bed. Nothing there. Nope. Nothing at all.
