Son of Ittou Asanuma and and Makoto Kino, also known as Sailor Jupiter. Kaede is next in line as the Guardian to bear the Sailor Crystal of Jupiter. As only female Guardians can bear the title of Sailor, he instead becomes Chevalier Jupiter.
Kaede is much like his mother in many ways. He has many of the same hobbies, and this has brought him trouble in his interpersonal life just as it had for her. But whilst Makoto had the problem of people focusing on her love of martial arts and tough exterior to ignore her feminine qualities, Kaede instead has people focusing on his gentle nature and interest in more feminine hobbies to consider his masculine side. This issue has also made it more difficult for him to come to terms with his sexuality.
