Waves crashed into the shore as the sun rose. The smell of salty seas flooded every building and to many, it was a wonderful way to wake up. For Daniel, it was a nightmare. He held the pillow to his face, groaning as he hoped that he could somehow get used to the smell and it would be over. He heard the turning from his sister's side of the room before a grand yawn and an excited squeal of joy.

Today was the day they would meet their pen pals. So they were all more than excited to get on their feet. If only they were in a different location, then Daniel would be ecstatic. Soon enough the sound of a pokeball opening came through and he felt the weight of a pokemon on his stomach. He moved the pillow and found his torchic staring down at him. With a gentle chuckle, he ruffled the bird pokemon's feathers and proceeded to get up.

The bird pokemon chirped a couple times as a skitty rose to yawn from Daniel's legs. When did she get down there? He was sure he had them all in their pokeballs last night. Regardless, they all seemed rested and ready for the big day.

"Goodmorning, Daniel!" His sister rang with a sing song voice. He greeted her back before going off to use the bathroom to freshen up first. Today was the day they start their journey with their friends. Something he had long dreamed of doing since he was younger.

Riley and Allen got into Slateport City late the night before, having had to take a boat to arrive. Once there, they got a place to stay at the Pokecenter. It had been a little strange, stepping foot into a region that wasn't their own. For Riley, stepping off that boat was a big step into beginning her journey. For Allen, it was a big step of relief from being sea sick. It was safe to say he didn't do too well with water.

Now, it was morning. Riley had woken up a while before, having released her Pokemon to move about. Oshawott waddled about energetically while Deerling laid on the bed curled up. She smiled at them, hoping that they'd be excited to meet the two pen pals that they'd be meeting in just a little while. After a few more minutes, Riley went over to Allen's bed and shook him. "Wakey, wakey. Today is the big day!" She had to stop herself from screeching with excitement. They'd been pen pals with the two they were journeying with for years. She felt like she was going to be travelling with a big group of friends.

Allen, as he sat up, feeling groggy and unprepared....was a little more concerned. He worried that they wouldn't all get along. Of course, he hoped for otherwise...but he was always a bit of a worrier. He looked over to her, rubbing at his sleepy eyes. "Is it almost time to meet them?" He asked, noting how Riley was already up and ready to go.

"It's close, but you've got time." She smiled reassuringly. Allen nodded and got up, allowing Mareep and Snivy to come out of their Pokeballs so they could stretch and move around. He went to the bathroom and got ready by brushing his teeth and such. Once done he exited the room and looked to Riley.

"Should we go ahead and go down to the main lobby area? We might be able to check out what kinda food they have."

Riley smiled and stood, nudging Deerling to wake her up. Oshawott jumped up on her shoulder.

"Sure, let's go down. They may already be down there, y'know?" They proceeded to head downstairs.

"Geez, shinx. How did your fur get so tangled so quick?" Diana murmured, brushing through the tiny knots the little cub had. The shinx mewled, purring for a moment before he began kneading at her thigh. The girl rolled her eyes playfully before setting the brush down and scratching his back. She wondered if her pen pals were going to like the two pokemon that gathered around her. Her mudkip was still sleeping soundly on her bed, and Daniel's pokemon were already playing around on his bed. She hoped they would like them. While they had been talking through letters for so long, she always did have worries that they would eventually lose contact. This journey was, in some way, a hope to establish their friendship.

"Diana, when you're ready." Daniel called, coming out of the bathroom with his hair neat and glasses cleaned. His skitty jumped from the bed, immediately circling his feet as he headed to his backpack to get his things together. Diana grinned and headed on into freshen up as well, leaving Daniel to start cleaning the room. He hoped that the two would find their friends, they probably slept late too. Hopefully they weren't too tired when it comes to their start for the journey. After five minutes, Diana eventually came out to prepare her things as well.

"Are you ready?" Daniel asked, looking around at the room. The younger twin look a look at the things on her person, smiling at her pokeballs clipped to her belt. The boy nodded before leading the two out of the room and towards the main room of the pokecenter. The two thanked the nurse for the room before sitting down in waiting room. When they heard the steps coming from the other set of stairs, Diana sat up in her seat. Could it be?

Allen and Riley walked downstairs slowly. Deerling was leading the way, which was something the duo had gotten used to. Deerling liked to play follow the leader and, more importantly, she liked to be the leader. Once downstairs they both glanced around, with Allen spotting a duo sitting down not too far away. They knew of what they looked like, from some of their letters, but Allen was always the cautious type. He approached the duo with Snivy trailing very close behind him. Mareep was trying to play with Deerling while Riley slowly followed Allen. Once beside him, Oshawott glanced between the two.

"Hi." Allen said, somewhat awkwardly. He then wanted to mentally hit himself. They'd spoke to one another through paper and pen for years. Why were things so weird? "Um...You guys are Diana and Daniel, right?" He asked, looking and feeling embarrassed for asking.

Riley came in to his rescue. The placed a hand on his shoulder and grinned. "Of course it's them! Who else could it be?!" She nearly jumped with excitement, but thankfully she contained herself. "How are you guys? Did you sleep well?!" She chimed in, wanting to know how all had been so far. She was really looking forward to starting their journey together, but the time right before the journey was critical in her mind.

"Um....While we discuss this, do you think we could find some food?" Allen laughed some and rubbed the back of his head. Oshawott nodded his head in agreement with Allen, eyes glowing at the thought of food.

The twins stood when they were approached, the both of them looking over the two. Diana seemed speechless for the moment till Riley spoke up, immediately flashing a wide grin as she took the girl's hand in hers. "Riley?! Jeez, oh man, it's really you!" She said, eventually to embrace the girl. Hopefully Riley didn't mind that she wore her heart on her sleeve. Daniel practically pried off her sister off the gal before he answered the other's questions.

"Breakfast first! I'm sure we're all dying to talk about the journey here, but let's get some food, yes?" Daniel cut in, his sister humming before she nodded. Daniel motioned for the three to follow him. Slateport City had fresh seafood and other delights since it was a portway for many ships. "We slept soundly if you're still wondering, but I will admit that we were up pretty late wondering if you guys would end up coming early."

Daniel eventually had them sat down at a small family food store, with seafood and other sorts of dishes. Sitting down by his sister, he clasped his hands together. "How about you guys? Was the ship cramped, and tentacruel sightings?" His sister shivered, she always disliked tentacruels. It was a shared dislike between the two.
