Fandom Legend of Zelda: After the Calamity

A man had entered the ball, it seemed that he was apart of the guest list but Link and Zelda would not know him. Because Titus invited him to the ball, knowing that he was a servant of Ganon or used to be, until his defeat. The man however was still loyal to Ganon and he was going to try and kill the royal Hyrulian family on this night. However, he underestimated the sheer power of the family and did not think about their daughter. The mysterious man spotted Link and Zelda escorting Titus to get some mead, he navigated through the crowd to get to them. He had a few looks from the guards, who did not know him at all. He kinda hoped that Titus would vouch for him, before he could get stopped by them. He could never get close to the king and queen without security being on his tail.

"Yeah, I already told the guard captain to up the security around," Zelda would explain to Titus, "plus we have Link and his knights." She was trying to mount a defense against the old geezer and get him to stop mentioning the attack. She was too kind to admit that she wanted Link to test the theory of tossing the scrawny man. Zelda was going to be polite to him, like she was to every lord, because she wanted to hold her reputation. Titus always had hated her and Link together, he just wanted to rule Hyrule for himself. One thing that Zelda would never allow in her life, because Titus was not a good person.

Titus drank some of his mead and nodded, "that sounds lovely my Queen, but have you thought about reactivating some of the previous defenses around? That could help with the monster problem." He was thinking big and taking a huge step to solve an otherwise easy problem. They did not need the previous defenses to solve the monster problem and Zelda did not know if she wanted to take them back just yet, plus Link had already defeated most of them them. She was certain he meant the Guardians and they seemed dangerous, because what if they were used against them again?

"No," Zelda said, "I will discuss that with Robbie later..but for now all we need is to focus on rebuilding Hyrule kingdom economically and politically, I have been working with our neighbors to come up with an alliance following Ganon's defeat." She understood other kingdoms had their own goals and agendas, but Ganon would be a threat to all of them if he could ever return and so they needed to form an alliance.

"Why do we need others?" Titus asked, "if we have the hero then we can be unstoppable and continue our Imperial might...conquering other kingdoms and bringing them into our empire."

"Are you kidding?" Zelda almost spat out her drink, "why would we conquer the kingdoms that helped us during the Great Calamity?"

The mysterious man was stopped by Cloud and some guards, who thought he was suspicious. Cloud looked at him and checked the list of guests, "Uh sir who are you?" The man was tired of waiting and used dark magic to lift a table and threw it at Cloud and the guards, sending them tumbling backwards. He then generated a dark blast and attempted to hit Link with it.

"Please Sir Titus," Link scoffed upon hearing the nobleman's suggestion to go an attack their neighbors. "Even you have to realize how absolutely stupid that sounds." Link said, a smile on his face but his eyes cold like a wolf. It was clear in this short time Link was already tired of hearing the mans pointless rambling. He would rather be in the village listening to the kids talking about nothing than what this man had to say. And if Link was already speaking up instead of letting his wife handle it he was ready for the conversation to be over. And with all his tact he took a sip of his mead while looking the stuffy royal man right in the eyes as he said, "Of course, this idea is coming from the fool who thought siding with our sworn enemy was a good idea and sent half of his staff to their senseless deaths." He scoffed and was ready to argue with the man. But then something happened and suddenly everything went silent for Link. The music, the noise of people talking, and everything else were silent as his instincts kicked in. He whipped around and started to look around, dropping his cup and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. "Somethings wrong." He muttered. He may have been king but he was still a warrior at heart and when his instincts told him something was wrong he listened.

Of course he didn't see the hooded man walk into the party and hanging around the food near Cloud. If he would've got a glance of the person Link probably would've had guards keeping an eye on him. But he was too busy dealing with Mr.Stuffynoblepants to notice it.

Standing at to the side of the party Malon watched as everyone walked around, nibbling on little pieces of finger food. She gave the occasional curtsey as people came up to here and said hello and how nice it was to see her, or even the rare oh how pretty you look. But Malon was like 99% sure they were trying to be nice. The girl was aware of what the public thought of her. Not that anyone hated her, as far as she knew anyways, but being an orphan princess in the main capital of the land of Hyrule didn't make her popular. They almost lost the battle of the Great Calamity 10 years ago because her mom couldn't awaken her power in time. Now there was a princess who couldn't even call on the power of the goddess. All she could do was swing a pointy stick a bit better than most soldiers a bit older than her. So she tried to be a fly on the wall, not getting in anyone's way or being a bother. In her hands she held the small white guardian known as Terreko, the small egg-shaped bot making soothing beeps and whirrs as it was held.

"Princess Malon." Vol said walking over to the girl, a small plate with sandwiches and fruits on it. "Your food as requested." He said giving a slight bow as he offered her a plate.

"Vol, you don't need to be so formal." Malon said giving a giggle as he did that and took a strawberry off the plate.

"I mean you are a princess, I'm you guard for the evening, seems like formal is what I should be going for. Either that or Cloud will get after me." He said winking at her making the girls cheeks feel warm as she giggled.

"We'll forget I'm a princess for tonight maybe? I was rolling around in the dirt with you guys earlier during training." She suggested

"Well someone who wouldn't be a princess would take the plate from my hand." He teased her as he stood upright and did relax, his shoulder dropping as he leaned against the wall behind them. He was in the Royal Guard attire and not his normal armor. It was black with gold hemming and an itchy-looking cap, but even though it was fancy looking it was made to be worn in a fight incase something happened at a formal event. It wasn't as durable as a chest plate but it was better than any of the fancy shirts the other men were wearing.

Ok Malon, just like mom said. Tell him how you feel. The princess thought to herself, suddenly her voice desert dry as she grabbed her ruby red dress. "Hey Vol..." She said not looking at the knight at first. Her knuckles were ghostly white from how hard she held onto her dress. She took a deep breath in as she looked up at the older boy, meeting his ruby-red eyes. "I um... I needed to tell you-. Well not needed, needed is a strong word." She said, her voice squeaking at the last word making her blush. The boy rose his eyebrow curious about what she had to say still smiling. Dear goddesses why did he have to give his warm sweet smile?! "I um.. I like you-." She said before gasping as if she couldn't believe the words actually came out of her mouth and she watched the boy's other eyebrow go up in shock. "A DRINK> I'D LIKE FOR YOU TO GET ME A DRINK!" She immediately backtracks.

"Oh um, sure princess." He said with a chuckle, sitting the plate on Terreko, the guardian turning and beeping at the knight, not appreciating being used as a plate, and went t o get Malon's drink.

"Goddess!" She hisses at herself, face bright red like her hair, very aware of the few eyes looking at her. Why was this so hard? "Can you tell him for me?" She asked her robofriend who beeped and spun his body back and forth in a no. "You can't even talk." She muttered sighing as he came back with a fancy cup filled with a fruit drink for the guest who didn't want mead. She wasn't old enough to drink yet anyways, "Thanks." She said taking it. "We'll um actually..." She said sighing getting ready to take another stab at confessing her feelings when out of the corner of her eye she noticed something shiny. The man in the black hood had a crude curved blade in his hand, making her frown. But when he pushed some guest out of the way heading for her parents his eyes shoot open. "Assasin!" She tried to yell but was taken off guard so it came out as another squeak. But she was already acting, dropping everything in her hands. Making the plate and cup shatter on the ground and Terreko on his feet, confused on why his ride let him do.

"Stop!" She yelled as she ran at her mom, who was distracted by the grumpy noblemen she really really REALLY didn't like. Her dad noticed the yell and caught a glimpse of the man and tried to rush to his wife's side, having started to walk around on the platform to see what was off. But the man was close, too close. "No!" Malon cried seeing her dad bump her mom out of the way, the man's dagger going straight for the king's neck. Link tried to raise his sword in time block to blow, but the man was too close. "NO!" Malon cried again, everything silent for her as it had been for her dad. But her vision went white as she was relieved that day. An image of the Moblin with its club stained red, it hearing her crying, and the hopelessness she felt for not being able to help her mom and dad that day. She couldn't go through that again... She wouldn't.

"STOP!" She ordered, shaking her head, tears glistening in her face from the flashback, and trusted her hand out. And suddenly her entire body started to tingle, her hair lifting up. And her eyes glowed a bright neon yellow. And suddenly yellow and white sparks of electricity jumped off her body until three stands of lightning wrapped around her arm, slithered up her fingers, and shot out in one bolt. Hitting the man in the back, making his stop as he was electrocuted. Link taking his sword and using the hilt to bash the man in the father.

"Your majesty!" Vol yelled rushing past Malon, sword in hand, and pointed it down at the assassin. At this point, the entire party was actually silent from shock.

Zelda was lucky that Link had bumped her out of the way of the assassin, because she had been so busy with Titus that she would not been fast to react to the assassin. Zelda showed a little bit of vulnerability as she was bumped away. Everything happened too fast and she wanted to scream for her husband, she didn't want him to die for her but it seemed like fate had a much crueler option. But, then Zelda saw a flash of electricity from Malon's fingertips and hit the assassin in the back, making him stop mid motion, giving Link time to bash him with the hilt of his sword. She gasped at what her daughter just did, that was incredible. The first person that came to mind was Urbosa and she suspected that Link would think of her as well. Could Malon be related to her? Well it looks like they were going to Gerudo town after this mess.

"Link, are you alright?" Zelda asked, worriedly and a little frightened.

She quickly collected herself and looked at Vol pointing his sword at the assassin. Good, the guy couldn't cause any more harm to anyone. "Guards, sweep the area," the queen ordered, calmly and the guards swept the area, making sure everything was ok. She however glared at Titus, "I have my suspicions about you letting the assassin in and endangering the king and queen's life. That would be treason and if you are guilty then you could be sentenced to prison or death."

"Uhhh my queen," Titus tried to save himself, "I have no idea what you are talking about."

"SILENCE!" Zelda yelled at Titus, the queen never getting this angry before, "your trial will be tomorrow at dawn and I will no qualms about it? Understood?" She then turned to her daughter and the anger vanished from her. She was still in awe of her using that power and was still confused about it. Zelda was glade that she saved her father, she hoped Malon did not get her intentions wrong, but it made her a little surprised. The queen needed everyone to leave the ball now, so she gazed around the shocked crowd and cleared her throat, "The guards have everything under control, but the ball is now canceled because of recent events-" she bit her lip and continued, "I am so sorry everyone." She sighed, wishing she had been more vigilant and scolding herself.

More reason for that alliance. It seemed that Ganon was sending assassins even though he was defeated. Maybe there would be another puppet of his that would try to kill them on the road to Gerudo. Zelda would have to make sure to warn Urbosa about them visiting her and about would be assassins. But, she was pretty excited to visit her again.

Cloud watched the whole thing go down, he was pretty shocked that Malon had electricity abilities but wasn't surprised about it, The guard saw Vol rushing to to apprend the assassin and smiled. He was quite proud of the knight for jumping into action, he just hoped that was the only assassin. He helped escort the guests out of the kingdom with the other guards, making sure they were all safe, because if they weren't Link would chew him out. Most of the people at the ball were Zelda's political allies and supporters. He half expected there to be an attack but nothing came.

"Alright," the guard captain named Tetra said, "the area looks clear...no signs of assassins here." Cloud nodded and went back into the kingdom.

The assassin knew he was screwed, so he surrendered to Vol.

"I'm fine my love." Link assured his wife as he took her hand, looking over at his daughter. The redhead looked at her fingers like they were made out of diamonds. He had no idea that his daughter could do that. And he was sure that she didn't know that she had that kind of power in her, either that or she had been extremely patient in their sparring matches. His mind didn't immediately jump to her being related to the Gerudo champion, but more how he was going to be asking Cloud to start to teach her how to control her powers. Though once they talked the king definitely would agree the Urbosa would probably be the best teacher for the girl. Plus it's not like she would deny a request that Zelda would give her. But there was another problem to deal with at the moment.

Link kept the sword pointed at the assassin until a few of the other knights came and got the man and took him away. He then could focus on his wife, who was getting ready to attack Titus. And as much as he would have loved to see his soft-spoken and calm-minded wife beat the tar out of the stuffy noble. But right there in front of everyone probably wasn't the best place to do it. So he went over and gently grabbed her hand, squeezing it to get her attention. Then staring at her he gave her a head nod, silently telling her we'll figure this out. "Everyone please stay here until the guards give the all-clear." He instructed and instructed performers to keep playing, but at that point, the mood had been killed and lit on fire.

"Don't worry princess I'll protect you," Vol said as he returned to the princess's side, his sword sheathed but he kept his hand on the hilt.

"Thank you, and I'll make sure to protect you," Malon said with a smirk, flexing her fingers but looking at her hand she frowned again. She was pretty sure that she had been the one who shot that bolt of lightning. But how did she do it? Could she do it again? Did she really do it? Maybe it was Cloud who shot the bolt of electricity at the assassin.

"Fair enough, we'll watch each other's backs." He said with a wink, "Anyways what were you talking about before?" He asked her, making her attention snap back to him and she stared at him for a second. She couldn't remember what it was at first but when her mind finally clicked her cheeks felt warm.

"Oh it was nothing," She said, her hands going behind her back as she started to rock back and forth on her feet.

Soon the guards came back with an all-clear, making everyone let out a sigh of relief.

"I apologize for the events of tonight," Link said, still holding Zelda's hand, trying to sound apologetic. "Tonight was supposed to be a celebration of the seven years of peace. But sadly someone thought it would be a good time to try and end this."

"Do not apologies." A deep voice said over all the muttering, making everyone go quiet. The hairs on the back of Link, Malon, and Vol stood up on edge as their fight-or-flight instincts kicked in. It wasn't like with the assassin where only Link, a master warrior, had his instincts go off. This voice carried dread with it that washed over the crowd like a wave. Link, without realizing it, pulled his sword out, and stood in front of Zelda. Malon grabbed the dagger that had been tied to her belt, which she wasn't supposed to have being a princess at a ball and all, and pulled it out. Vol pulled his sword out, slowly moving Malon to beside the queen as he stood beside the king. "I found tonight to be quite lovely." The voice said, the people in the crowd moving out of the way of the voice, revealing someone in a black and golden cloak, his face hidden by it. A pale hand held a glass cup of the fruit drink Malon had gotten earlier. But a redish mist was pouring out of his sleeve... Malice. "It was funny that a mortal man thought he could do w-w-w-what the great ganon couldn't." The man said, his body twitching as he got caught on the w sound of what.

Zelda was beginning to calm down as her husband held her hand. She was clearly distraught with how the night went and that people were in danger because of it. But, of course something odd happened tonight, Malon managed to shoot electricity out of her hands...she only had seen Cloud do this and thought that maybe they could be related but that was impossible...Cloud was from Lon Lon ranch and joined up with the guards after Malon had became their daughter. No way that Malon was a descendant or relative of Urbosa, then Zelda and Link would surely know about her. If that was the case then they should request for her to train with Malon, not like she would deny Zelda a request like that. Cloud could also teach Malon but Zelda trusted Urbosa more with the proper training.

The ball became quiet suddenly as people began to file out, someone had to ruin the happiness didn't they? Zelda was resisting to apologize to everyone, it seemed like Link was doing that for her. She held his hand tight.

When the cloaked man announced himself, Zelda glanced at him with confusion as Link stood in front of her. She wondered who this man was and was he another assassin? But when he revealed Malice to be in him, she stood behind her husband in a fright. She noticed that Vol had stood alongside the king and moved Malon besides her which was good that she 2was going to be safe. Zelda trusted her husband and Vol to protect them from harm, since Cloud or the others weren't that close

Cloud readied his claymore as electricity sparked along it. He glared at the cloaked man, not sure what his move will be but he had to protect the royal family. Him having Malice was not a good thing and that would make the battle a lot more tough. He knew that the malice would gravely injure Link and Vol if it hit them directly, but he was a little bit away to save them. Maybe Malon would use her ability again to stop it from hitting them, Cloud wondered how she unlocked that ability. He assumed that it had to do when someone she loved was in trouble and it might happen again now.

Dascal quickly got his men to escort the civilians out of the ballroom before any malice could hurt them. He wasn't sure if he was fast enough but it was better to try than let everyone get hurt. He trusted that Link and the knights could handle this problem, because he didn't think that the guards could handle this threat. But he managed to run into one of the Yiga Clan warriors on the way out. The yiga Clan member nodded at the guard captain and rushed inside the ballroom to help with the incident.

He braced himself for a big fight, this guy was the person that his clan had been hunting down for a while now that the Yiga Clan was no longer with Ganon. Although some of his brothers and sisters were traitors and still stuck to waging war against Hyrule. Sougo readied his weapon and preparing to strike the cloaked man, but he would wait until the man made his move before he would strike, wouldn't be good if he was an idiot.

"Astor." Link growled as he held his sword, ready to attack. The last time he saw this man was seven years ago when the calamity malice little changed his form into Calamity Ganon. He drove the master sword into the mans forehead before he vanished into an explosion of sludge and muck. The man was a powerful dark sorcerer before that and had been a pain in his and his wife's side, as they were trying to unlock the then princess' power. But now... the man didn't even look human as he lowered his hood, making everyone gasp. His face wasn't even held together as different parts of it hung in the air, jerking together to make a human face for a second, but then it drifted apart the next second with thin strands of malice connecting to the pieces of flesh. But then he lifted his arm up revealing a hand of the was made up of malice sludge.

"Ah you remember me, I feel so flattered." The man said sarcastically as he started to float in the air, "I haven't come to fight you. I am simply a humble messenger for my lord Ganon. He wishes for the one known as Link the swordsman who wields the blade to banish evil, his return is nigh." He said as he smiled down at them all. "But I feel like this is jut a waste of time. All I see is a soldier playing king, a shy little queen who can't even convince her own countrymen to band together, and a false princess who isn't even worth to spit at my feet much less take a throne one day." He said with a deep chuckle that made the room shake, "And not to forget the dozen toy soldiers that you call a royal guard." He said. Looking at Vol and spinning to look at Cloud looking at them like they were children pretending to play knights with toy swords.

"Hey!" Vol spat, more mad at the comment to Malon and her family than the knight comment. "You speak to the royal family of Hyrule, who have bested you before. And I don't know why you're here. But I know that you aren't welcome here!" He said, raising his sword and rushing forward, "Cloud, pincer attack!" He called out to his superior, wanting the older man to charge the man from behind. And even in a few blasts of red smoke, some Yiga members appeared, immediately letting loose some arrows. Which Link wasn't shocked that the ninja warriors appeared as Link had asked Master Kohoga to have a couple of them be at the party that night after the death threats they had recently been getting. But as the king watched the man smirk he knew something wasn't right.

"Wait, don't!" He yelled, raising his shield and charging forward as well, Malon immediately stood in front of her mom, the dagger she wasn't supposed to have, in hand as she glared at the man wondering what his move was going to be. But as Vol's blade found its target, the arrows reached the man's head at the same time, the sorcerer vanished in a puff of smoke. Making Link freeze as he looked around the room as more laughter can be heard.

"Little knight you are right," Astor said to Vol, the knight and the Yiga warriors looking around as the man talked, "But that was a long time ago, and we were playing a different game." He said as he suddenly appeared behind the Yiga foot soldiers. Grabbing both the men by the head and lifting them up like nothing and they started to scream as dull purple smoke started to flow out of their suits. And after a few seconds he dropped them, their bodies falling right to the ground as they wheezed and coughed. And then appeared behind Vol and grabbed the knight in the same manner, but didn't lift him up, the teen to stunned to move.

"Vol!" Malon cried out and immediately threw her dagger at the man, the blade flying through the air, with white sparks of electricity radiating off of it, and headed right to the mans head. But before it could reach him Astor slapped the dagger away like it was a fly that was buzzing around his ear.

"Nice try, but don't be surprised that a false princess couldn't do more." He said as purple mist started to cover the knights face.

"No, but it was a nice distraction!" Vol said as his body tensed up and suddenly him and Astor were engulfed in a giant pyre. But only Astor cried out in pain, letting lose a high-pitched AAAAAAAAAAA before his body disappeared from within the flames. And when the flames die down Vol was in his red dragon-themed armor, the dragon horn helmet, and his colosseum medallion burned into the armor. Even his spear was in his hand as he shook his head, seemingly perfectly ok.

"Why you!" Astor said appearing at the doorway again, his body smoking, "Hm. I've wasted enough time here." Astor scoffed looking at everyone as he trusted his hand out, making malice drop to the ground. "But consider this a parting gift from me to you." He said as the puddles of sludge started to form, looking like lifeless limp bodies jerked around as pitch-black eyes stared at them all. "Ta ta!" The sorcerer said before vanishing, leaving the group on monsters in the room.
